Preparing User Accounts on windows 2008 R2

Hi ,
To create account for hyperion  installation purpose oracle documents says below:
Assign local policies if required by your product. For Windows, the user ID typically requires
“Act as part of the OS, Bypass Traverse Checking, Log on as a batch job, and Log-on as a
service.”
So do I need to create a local admin account on the server or a domain admin user  with above privileges assigned will work?
I am trying to insatlled epm 11.1.2.3 on windows 2008 R2
Thank you for the help

If you are installaing in single Server, Create a user with Administrative rights then go to Administrative tools --> Local security policies and give the
Act as part of the OS, Bypass Traverse Checking, Log on as a batch job, and Log-on as a service.”
Thanks,
Mady

  • Can I install iTunes in separate user accounts on Windows Vista 64-bit?

    Hi,
My wife and I use different user accounts on Windows Vista 64-bit. Before I go and mess things up on my computer, I wanted ask some questions:
    1) Has anyone has successfully installed iTunes to multiple user account?
    2) If so, has anyone successfully shared the same music root directory for 2 different iTune instances.
I'm thinking with iTunes very tight integration with the music files (for indexing/searching, etc), that it would be bad to have add/change/delete on the same music root from 2 independent installations.
    Experience OR opinions welcome!

) Has anyone has successfully installed iTunes to multiple user account?
You don't install the iTunes application more than once. Each user account in Windows will have its own iTunes library.
If so, has anyone successfully shared the same music root directory for 2 different iTune instances.
Many people have done so. This should help:
iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer
Note that iTunes has no folder-watching capability, so if you add a track in one user account, the other user will have to add that new item manually, either by using the Add To Library command or dragging the item into the iTunes window. There are a couple of potential solutions from other developers, though:

  • Hide User Accounts on Windows 7 Logon

    Hi I Just Installed Windows 7 and Want to hide other user accounts on Windows 7 64 and actually Windows Vista so the only Account showing is mine how do I do This, am I right in thinking it has to be done through the registry;
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SOFTWARE \Microsoft \Windows NT \CurrentVersion \Winlogon, but I do not know how to prceed from this point can some help please

The following will work for a computer in a workgroup (using the welcome page).
For Windows 7 Enterprise (maybe others) you will also need to add a second key below SpecialAccounts called "UserList". Put all the accounts in that subkey.
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList
I have confirmed this to work on a fresh installation with multiple user accounts and not joined to a domain. I have also confirmed this on my Windows 7 Ultimate computer I use at home. I use the hidden (but not disabled) accounts to provide share access in
a workgroup environment, so I don't want to see them on the logon page. I think the proper workaround for share access is using homegroups instead, but I don't think it provides enough granularity for me.
    Ok,
So now that I have done this, I cannot logon to the machine with those accounts anymore or use the admin priviledges for them.  I thought it would just hide the accounts.  The problem is, I 'hid' all admin accounts, but thought like old versions
of windows that you would be able to CTRL-ALT-DELETE on the login screen to type the username and password, but I can't get it to work!.
How do I login once I have put in users int he UserList key?.  I can't get back into the regedit because I don't have any other admin accounts. :(
    EDIT: Answer
If you would like to unhide the hidden Administrator account on Windows 7
Operating System , here's how you can do it:
1.Boot Win 7 DVD,go to command prompt and type regedit -it
2.Click on HKLM hive and next navigate File>>Load hive
Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\config folder and choose
SOFTWARE file load it and assign this hive any name for example REM_SOFTWARE
    3.Open key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\REM_SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList
and remove this account or better way remove the whole key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\REM_SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts

  • How to unlock user account in Windows Server 2003

    Hi,
I want to unlock a user account in Windows Server 2003.
I have read a great post at http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=716240&start=0&tstart=0
But I can not get it to work. According to the post the only thing you need to do is:
"+to unlock an account, just set the value of the attribute lockoutTime to zero+".
When I set lockoutTime to zero nothing happens. The user can still not logon.
When I read the lockoutTime attribute for an account that is locked it is empty or zero if I have tried to unlock it earlier.
So it doesn´t seem to change when the account is locked.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Windows Server 2012 has come with the concept of Group Managed Service Account (gMSA).
Following are the benefits of gMSA,
    - A single gMSA can be used on multiple hosts.
    - A gMSA can be used for scheduled tasks.
    - A gMSA can be used for IIS Application Pools, SQL 2012 etc.
Checkout the below link regarding complete information on gMSA (creation and usage),

  • Corrupted User Accounts in Windows Vista 64 Home Premium?

    ***FYI I'm using my desktop.
    Toshiba Satellite L305-S5908
    Model #: PSLB8U-05202F
    Windows Vista 64
So just today, I had accidently dropped my laptop. I was logged into my user account, and it completely froze a few moments after. I had to reboot it, and when I did, I could not log in to my user account at all! I would be able to type in the password, but once I hit ENTER, it turned blank with only the Windows Vista 64 background displaying. I went on safe mode, and surprisingly, I was able to log onto the user account.
I have another user account (that I rarely use) that I could log on to safe mode as well. However on normal start-up, I was able to log in, but then it completely froze again. The second time I tried to log onto that user account, the computer completely froze when I was about to type in the password.
From what Toshiba support told me, the User accounts must have been corrupted from the drop, and they told me to Google "How to fix corrupted user accounts". However, from research I am supposed to create a new user account but I cannot make a new one because I cannot log into any of the user accounts at all. (They cannot help me any further because my warranty expired.)
So, I'm turning to you forum. How do I fix this?

I deleted the bad user accounts, and saved their files into the new user account.
The proper way to copy a profile is detailed here.
       Fix a corrupted user profile
I did Disk Check again, and it got past the previous stuck point, but it is now stuck on the 524373th free cluster. Should I make a new thread dealing with the new issue I have?
I forgot to mention that it may be necessary to run chkdsk /r many times.
No necessity for a new thread.
...seems like I have to pay for it?
Yes, SpinRite costs money. But it's a good product and the circumstances may warrant it. It might come in handy for another drive in the future as well.
In this case, you may prefer to purchase a new drive. It may turn out that you need a new drive in any case. Certainly, you should be prepared for that by having the recovery discs.

  • How to set up user account in Windows 7/Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1?

At the present time I have only the Windows XP Professional SP3 32 bit operating system which works from a User Account with Adminstrative Privileges when it comes to using Premiere Elements.
I have read that in Windows 7, the default user account is one with standard rights. My first question is, when using Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 in general in a Windows 7 32 or 64 bit environment, do you have to elevate the user account to one with adminstrative rights and, if so, how?
My second question is, is there anything in the Windows 7 user account setup that would specifically target the Premiere Elements Project Archiver/Archiver "Trimmed" as well as Copy options to abort with the message "no user privileges to perform this operation"? The rest of the program performs OK. Supposedly inadequate hard drive space is not a factor.
Thanks for any insights into these two questions.

Just an update to the question that I presented when I started this thread.
You really never did say what type of a User Account you are using in your Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 on Windows 7? But based on the information provided by several users, User Account with Administrative Rights seems to be the way to go since all of them were using it and had systems that were running well. I would have expected that based on the Premiere Elements Windows XP requirements. I have yet to have someone come forward to say that they are using Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 on Windows 7 with a User Account with Standard Rights and the program is running well. Will you be that one?
Besides me switching from Windows XP to Windows 7 in the near future, what motivated this line of questioning was the report that I had seen of a user with Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1on Windows 7 who was reporting "permission" error messages when trying to archive a project with the Project Archiver (Archiver "Trimmed" and Copy options). Further questioning brought out that the problem extended to the AutoSave feature as well. The user claimed to be saving to an external hard drive (formatted NTFS) with about 800 MB free space. And still further questioning brought out that the error message included a free space and/or permissions error. Yes, there were extremely large file sizes involved here (way over 4 GB)
The story had a happy ending where the remedies were:
    1. User Account with Administrative Rights
    and the major
    2. Formatting the thought to be NTFS external hard drive from FAT32 to NTFS.

  • HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw doesn't print under user account. Windows 7 Pro x86

    Dear Sirs,
We found a bug using HP CLJ Pro MFP M177fw on windows 7 pro 32-bit edition.
In our company we use custom folder to keep temporary files of all user accounts. It is C:\temp. So in the environment variables window we have user variables TEMP and TMP with the C:\temp path. System variables TEMP/TMP are the same.
After installing MFP's driver, under accounts with administrator rights we can print normally. But when we use account with user rights print doesn't work. Trying to print windows test page, we receive error message "Test page failed to print" and spooler state is clean. When we change user variables TEMP/TMP on default %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp,  we can print testpage successfully.
With older model HP CLJ Pro MFP M175 we have no trouble at our customized operating systems.
Can we hope on fixing print driver with regard to this problem?

  • Problem with iTunes and multiple user accounts in Windows

I am running iTunes on a PC (Windows XP) and have multiple user accounts. When I switch between user accounts and try to open iTunes, I get a message that tells me I can't open the program because another user is using it. Is it really true that I can only have iTunes open in one user account at a time on a PC with multiple user accounts ?!? If not, what am I doing wrong?

You are right, can only have one open. You have to log out of a user before logging in to another user to use iTunes. Do not use the fast user switching ability of Windows.

  • Can I restrict itunes to just one user account in windows 7

    Hi there,
I have just bought an iPhone and was wondering if it possible to set up two user accounts on my PC that are entirely separate from one another (OS Windows 7). The reason being is that I want to be able to use my iphone with iTunes on one account/partition, but I don't want iTunes to be at all evident on, or have any influence over, the other account: I use both an iPhone and a Creative MP3 player, so want to to keep my MP3s and WMAs synched with Windows Media Player, but I still want to be able to download apps, films and upload photos using my iphone through iTunes.
To illustrate, if I set up two user accounts on my computer - FRED and JANE for example - and install iTunes on FRED's profile only, will it also appear on JANE's profile? If so, is there anyway round this? If I can't achieve this through user accounts, can I do this by partitioning my hard drive into two and then setting up some kind of dual-boot process?
Many thanks in advance for any advice, I am perplexed by all of this!!

  • Synching photos with multiple user accounts under Windows

My parents have an iPad which they share; they also have a PC running Windows 7 where they each have a user account. Within their accounts they each have photos, each in a two level hierarchy where the first level contains only folders (i.e. "<date> <subject>") and the second level contains the actual photos within each folder.
It's my Dad's account that actually syncs with the iPad. iTunes won't sync with a Windows 7 library so I can't combine my parents' individual photo folders into a single library. I tried creating a link in the base of my Dad's photo folder to my Mum's photo folder but then I discovered iTunes will only work with two levels of hierarchy so this meant all of her photos appeared in a single folder on the iPad.
They want all of their folders to appear at on the iPad with the photos each in the correct folder as (hopefully) illustrated below. Can someone suggest how this may be achieved?
    Thanks!

  • Firefox will not run for mulitple instances of the SAME user account on Windows Multipoint Server 2011

We have an HP MS6200 MulitSeat PC
It is running Microsoft Windows MultiPoint Server 2011 (which appears to be a tweaked version of Windows 7)
It is set up in a computer lab, and students log in using their shared room account - ie multiple instances of the same user accounts are running on the PC at the same time.
The first student to run Firefox can work with it without problem.
However when another student tries to start firefox they get the following message:
Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system.

    Thanks for the quick reply.
I managed to get this to work by using:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -profile "%temp%\ffprof" -no-remote
This works because Windows assigns a different temp location for each instance of a user

  • Help please with User Accounts in Windows on X61 Tablet PC

I kept getting the "Blue Screen of Death" and so I decided I would reformat the Hard Disk and reinstall everything. During the installation process, the User "Administrator" and my user account are both on the Welcome screen. Under User accounts, under "Administrator User" it says quote "The administrator account is only visible on the Welcome screen when no other user accounts exist (except the quest account), or when you start your computer in Safe Mode". This still is showing regardless that I have my name as a User and as administrator. Any help on getting this to not show would be great. I have a netbook with Windows XP and it just shows my name as a user and under user accounts just my name and guest. Thanks for the help.

You are right, can only have one open. You have to log out of a user before logging in to another user to use iTunes. Do not use the fast user switching ability of Windows.

  • Cannot create or rename a user account in Windows 7 HP x64

Hi. I have Windows 7 Home Premium x64 with one single account with Administrator rights (it's been set up in the computer shop).
It turned out that I cannot create a new user account with it. I try to create one from Control Panel / User accounts menu / Manage other user account. It asks me to enter a name of the account and its kind, after it is done and Create button is pressed
it returns to the User accounts list, which stays blanc (no account created). No error messages or warnings.
I cannot even just change the name of my exsisting account, it looks almost the same: it asks for a new name and when the the name is typed in and Rename button is pressed it returns to the previuos screen where I can see that the name remains unrenamed.
The only thing I can do with my account is to change its image for Logon screen. :)
Please help me to fix this issue.

Hi....  I have the same problem with my laptop and my netbook. Same OS in my laptop and Win7 Starter in my netbook.
The only way I found to address this issue was as following:
    - Start your computer in 'Safe Mode'
    - Logon as 'Administrator' (preferred, but also works with all local users)
    - Go to control panel and 'User Accounts'
    - Create the new user with administrator rights
    - Then close Admin session
    - Logon as the new user
    - Once logged on, and desktop and icons shows up for you, is done.
    - Then, close new user session or restart your computer normally
This started to happen to me after a Windows 7 update for 'Service Pack 1'.
It seems to be an error in this update because the normal process to create a new user only creates the name in the list but no folders and other files necessary to start sessions. The profile is not fully created by the normal process. Then you need to
start the process in SAFE MODE, because it only loads the very basic functions for the OS, no drivers, no services, no antivirus....
    Hope this can help...!
    Thanks.

  • Restore deleted AD User Account in Windows Server 2012

    Good day.
I know Windows Server 2012 has an Active Directory Recycle Bin feature, however upon enabling the feature it doesn't display the deleted user account I have deleted prior to enabling the feature. Is this normal? Does the feature only displays deleted AD
objects after you have enabled it? Is there other way to display those objects? Thanks in advance.

    Hi James,
Yes, You should have a valid system state back to perform an authoritative restore.
In case you don’t have any system state backup, you can use ADRestore to restore tombstoned objects. When an object is deleted from Active Directory, it isn't actually removed but is instead marked as deleted by an internal marker called
    a tombstone.
Note: ADRestore cannot restore the group membership for a user. Meanwhile, not all attribute data can be restored.

No he can _not_, as there is no tombstones when the recycle-bin is enabled, recycled objects can not be restored/reanimated.
