Preview start problem
hi, when i want to read a pdf or open a picture with preview for the first time(from start time ) in osx lion preview hangs a few moments and mouse pointer wheels(like crash ) but it opens the pdf or jpg finally, but after it each pdf or jpg i open ,runs fast,i have done permissions repair and even reset password,every applicatin runs perfect except preview,i have read about it a lot but still no change,i would appreciate if any one help me
and when i check error in console, it shows

Preview starts saving the changes in pdf doc and leads to freezing
I was reading a book in preview and i did some highighting work in the ebook.
Preview started saving the document(showing increasing number of file saving 2,then 3.....so on it went till 8)
this actvity did not gave me any access to my document to scroll and study furthur and all of a sudden the fans started spining at the max speed,preview consuming at aroung 1.45gb of ram(i checked it from activity monitor)
as a result i had to force close preview
this proccess repeated everytime i opened the ebook(3-4 times i tried).
Can anyone help me out of this problem or i should think of adobe pdf reader rather than the preview.

Bridge CS4 - MP4 preview playback problem
In Bridge CS4 on Windows, the preview playback of MP4 files sometimes works and sometimes it does not. If not, Bridge shows only an icon in the preview pane and there is no preview start button.
I have sets of MP4 footage that work OK, but other sets can only partly be previewed. Another strange behavior of Bridge is that in some cases after changing the file's name, the program suddenly does not show the preview anymore.
Is there anyone else having the same problems?

All MPEG files are not the same so just becasue one play does not mean they all play.
If changed files do not show up purge the cache (tools/cache/purge cache) and let it rebuild. -
On my Windows Vista PC I run several Adobe programs: the CS3 suite, Illustrator9, Reader9, but also Photoshop7 and ImageReady7. Two days ago suddenly all Adobe programs refused to start, including the Reader . Apparently, there was a problem with the licences. I have downloaded the LicenceRecovery program from Adobe Support, and having run it, as expected, all programs did run again.......except for one: Photoshop7. Every time when I start the program, it begins loading all the necessary modules, but then a Windows error message appears, saying that the program stopped running, that there is a problem (?) and that I have to close the program.
I've tried several times to de-install and re-install Photoshop7 and ImageReady7 (they both came on the same disc). Every time Set-up congratulates me that I have succesfully installed the programs, while in fact the start problem persists. ImageReady starts, Photoshop does'nt. As Photoshop7 is now an oudated program, Adobe's helpdesk refuses me to help . I suspect that something in the Windows Registry has been corrupted (by LicenceRecovery?), but I have no idea where to look for. Has anyone encountered this problem before, and If so what was the solution?Google is your friend.

Photoshop 7 no longer works in Leopard OSX 10.5
Photoshop 7 was released in March 2002, it is now 10 years old.
Sorry for your problems, but you have only 2 possible solutions:
Roll back the OS to an earlier version
Upgrade to a newer version of Photoshop (to save some money you could just get Photoshop Elements instead)
You might want to download a trial version to Photoshop Elements to see if it does what you need before spending any money.

CRS on Redhat 5 auto-start problem
Dear all
Recently I tried to install Oracle 10gR2 on Redhat 5. I did research and took all the necessary actions to install it on Redhat. Everything went well, according to the documents and at the end of the installation, all the resources were up and running. However, after the install, only the VIP was up and ONS and GSD was in unknown format. When I stop the nodeapps and start it again, everything stars working. It seems that the problem is something to do with boot process. I tried to put some delay ( for OCR mount ) but still no luck. This is the result from crsd.log from node1 when node2 is down.. :

KamyCRS on RHEL 5.5 auto-start problem

Recently I install RAC Oracle 10gR2 on Red hat RHEL 5.5. “Two node cluster, iscsi storage, ocfs2 mounted files & ASM ”
I did research and took all the necessary actions to install it on Red hat. Everything went well, according to the documents and at the end of the installation, all the resources were up and running. However, after the install, only the VIP was up and ONS and GSD ,ASM and the other services was in unknown state. When I stop the CRS & start it –all again, everything stars working. Please friends I need to fix this problem because the cluster services and the client workstation are stopping when the servicers is relocated to node 1 after the server reboot because the CRS did not worked still on node and manual starting is taking time.

The racgmain process on the other hand, executed by racgwrap, remain running so the number is increasing.This issue has been reported in Bug 7009245 ""RACGMAIN CHECK" PROCESS NOT TERMINATING", and drill down and determine the root cause this require to get a stack trace from racgmain process(es) as well as you should runOSWatcher with a specific parameters, finally the issue of Bug 7009245 has been fixed by the fix of Bug 6196746 (unpublished bug -- summary is "racgwrap spawns racgmain child process. crsd timeout kills racgwrap but bot racgmain")So please perform the following action plan that intend to solve the issue.

Avoiding preview stuttering problems
I am creating a new post here as I marked the last one I posted on this subject as answered.
In that post I asked would a new graphics card help to eliminate the severe stuttering caused by my windows xp machine (2 intel P4 processors 3.2) failing to decompress the MP4 files from my Sony NEX-5 quickly enough? The answer was an unequivocal NO as it was the processors, not the card.
Since then I have been doing some experimentation:
I downloaded trial versions of Cyberlink Power Director and Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10. The latter stuttered worse than PE but the Cyberlink app had almost faultless previews - no stuttering. Unfortunately it is a pretty horrible programme otherwise, and any case I am used to Premiere having use an early version of PP for years, so I experimented some more:
In PE I created a project with a project setting of PAL-AVCHD-HD 1081i25, loaded some MP4 clips taken with theNEX 5 on the MP4 1440 x 1080 setting and then burnt the project to DVD.
I then saved the movie as an AVI, removed the original MP4 clips and imported the AVI file I had just made. The project asked me if I wanted to change the project settings to match the clip and and I said yes. I then burned this to a DVD.
I then deleted the AVI clip and imported the original MP4 clips (into what is now effectively a PAL-DV-Widescreen 48KHz project setting I imagine). This time I was not asked if I wanted to change the settings but a red line appeared above the clips indicating they needed rendering. I rendered them and - voila! No stuttering - perfectly smooth preview of the MP4 clips. I then burned this to DVD.
Next I compared the DVDs on a Sony 42inch HD TV. No difference! All three of very good quality, at least to my eyes..
So what is happening here? When I rendered the clips in the PAL DV project was it turning them into AVI files because of the project settings? And is it that the first DVD (with the MP4 clips straight from the camera), which I would have expected to be of better quality than the other two, was not actually producing a HD DVD inspite of the camera and project setting?
Is the only way I am going to get true HD to set the camera to AVCHD and burn to Blu-Ray?
If any one has knowledge of these things I would love to hear from you as while I seem to have found an answer to the stuttering I would love to know what is going on and if I am fooling myself. Many thanks.Thanks for the reply.
I have not explained myself very well.
There is no problem with the DVDs - whatever settings I use to edit, the DVDs play very well, smooth and reasonably high quality in my estimation..
And as far as I know there is no interlacing going on as I am not using the camera's highest avchd setting (which is interlaced), only the 1440x1080 MP4.
The problem is with the editing previews, which when I open an HD project and import my MP4 camera files is very jerky to the point of being almost unusable at times, with long waits during operations. A look in Window Task Manager shows both CPUs maxing out all the time. According to the reply I had from an earlier post, this is because my CPUs are not up to the job of decompressing the MP4 files on the fly.
What I have found is that if I import my MP4 files into a project with DV settings, I get a red line above the timeline. If I then render the clips, the editing improves dramatically - no stuttering at all and no long waits after mouse clicks or key presses and the CPUs only working at about 50%. Of course it can take a while to render a number of clips, but I can go and do something else while that is happening and when I return the editing goes like clockwork.
My question is - what is happening to the quality of the video? I cannot see any difference in output (DVDs) whatever project settings I use, they all seem equally good. So hopefully I have found an answer to the preview stuttering problem. But I suspect I am not getting real HD from any of them. To do this I imagine I need to set the camera to AVCHD rather than 1440x1080 MP4 and burn to Blu-ray. This I have not tried yet as I do not have a Blu-Ray burner.
My problem is my ignorance of what PE is doing to the MP4 files when it renders them. And why, if I set the project settings to HD 1080i25 instead of PAL DV and work directly on the unrendered MP4 clips (and put up with the stuttering) do I not see a visible increase in quality when I burn the DVD? Is there some sort of levelling going on during the DVD coding? -
Are you guys going to fix the iTunes 10.5 start problem for Windows 64?
Windows 7 , 64 bit. If you have any connection at all to the Internet, I am sure you are aware of the iTunes not starting problem. ALL the suggested fixes are useless for some...uninstall, reinstall, drive wipe, reboot, registry edit, registry cleaners.....all to no avail. APPLE stuff is supposed to work....I have 2 new phones here that require 10.5 to work......blah. When you click the icon, or try to start from the .exe for that matter, it appears like it is about to start...and then nothing......if you check task manager, you can see it is running.......I have tried every permutation of a fix, including wiping the hard drive and reinstalling Win7 and updating......no good
Come on APPLE fix this problem......dont make me buy android phones.......On the "flip-side", I had the smoothest and quickest iTunes upgrade/install ever. This was on my Windows 7 Professional, 64bit system.
That you performed an assumedly 'clean' reinstall of your OS, is not a good sign. Obviously, iTunes doesn't like something within your system.
Here are the next steps that I would take if in your position:
- Are you absolutely positive that you have the 64bit version of iTunes?
- Re-download a new copy of the 64bit version of iTunes 10.5
- Try downloading iTunes from one of the 'mirror sites' - FileHippo is good
- Call your PC's manufacturer and see if they are aware of any conflicts with your specific machine's build with respect to iTunes
- Temporarily use another PC (if available) to get your iPhones up and running

I know it sounds ridiculous, but my computers are used to work in pretty warm environment. Now, since we have those low temperatures in Florida, especially over night, I experience a lot of problems with starting them. Can it be some internal battery problems ?
Quicksilver 933: Would keep on coming up with the "You need to restart your computer" - message after seconds of spinning the start wheel (grey screen with apple symbol). Guess what.. I though, the HD is done, took it out, put it into my double processor and ran DW on it with no problem. It appeared on the desktop. Put it back into the Quicksilver and the starting problem occurs again.
iBook G4: No way to get it started. It turns the starting wheel for minutes and then the blue screen appears, where you can move the cursor, but that's it...tried 15 times, no change.
Anybody with an idea ?

bafometWell.. I lived all my life in Europe (Germany) and know what kind of cold you are talking about. But it really feels cold after years in Florida, what happens right now..
In the meantime I tried more options with no results. Restarted from the CD, was able to run DW and Disk Utility on both computers and didn't get them to run.. The iBook came up with an index code failure, but amazingly you can run DiskWarrior and it seems no problem..
I wouldn't know how to run Hardware Test, if they are not starting..

MSI NX8800GT-T2D1GE-OC Starting Problems
Sinds yesterday i got starting problems with my pc.. well it didnt start at all. So i started to trace the problem and switching out part.. and i finally traced the problem to my grafics card. When i put another grafics card in my pc i boots up no problem but when i put my NX8800GT-T2D1GE-OC back in it just wont boot. when i try my NX8800GT-T2D1GE-OC in another pc that pc wont startup at all. so any1 know whats wrong with my Grafics card? it looks just fine and as far as i know nothing happend to it.

No i didnt but i dont have a speaker attached. i got a little lcd thats shows the boot sequence. when i try to start it with my card it it keeps saying: Initalising CPU. so i doesn't even start up with the card attached. when i disconnect the card the boot sequence goes normal. also i reseated the card many times and i tried different pci-e slots on my motherboard. nothing helps. i hope we can figure it out.. im afraid just broken somehow..although i wouldn't know what happend.

NW2004s preview install problem (dispatcher)

you'll need at least XP Professional, as XP Home does not allow for different user groups than the predefined, and the installer creates additional groups, or fails, in case of XP Home

Preview app problem, order of my images are messed up?
I don't know if this can be solved, or I need to look for a new app.
I have a lot of manga images, but they are neither "arranged" or "cleaned" by any order. I just continue to add to the folder (say "volume 1") whenever I download a new chapter. Sometimes the name of the images in the new chapter slightly differs from the previous one (usually due to change in scanlation group).
So when I "select all", and open up preview to read the manga. Preview automatically alphabatize them?? So my images are no longer in order, and I can't read them anymore.
For example, the CH1 start with "TNS_pg....", the CH2 is "TnSchp19......", and CH3 is "ShoujoCrusade_Tsuki....".
When I add them into the folder, they are in order since I don't select any arrangements.
However, PREVIEW automatically put the images from CH3 "ShoujoCrusade_Tsuki...." first when try to read it by "select all" and "open with preview"
Is there a way to just read my images as the order I put them into the folder, but not by name??
Also, if I choose "clean up by date added" etc. the newer chapters are in the front, I still can't read it.
I don't always have this problem but when I do, it's really frustrating opening up 150 images one by one so I could read my manga.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Was the photo you put on the About Me page sized to the size you wanted before you added it? If so select the photo and go to the Inspector/Metrics pane and click on the Original Size button. That will resize the photo to its original size. You can preprocess the image in your image editor of choice to the exact dimensions you want and then use the Inspector/Metrics pane to get iWeb to use those original dimensions. Even if you size the photo exactly before adding to the page it will always be resized a ittle by iWeb. That's why you need to use the Graphics pane to get it back to the original size. That may clear it up for you.

Preview starts up when I restart the mac
It's not really a huge problem - it's an annoyance that I'd like to stop though. For some reason when I reboot my machine the preview application opens. But with no documents. I'm not sure why it occurs and I've looked in the startupitems folder and I don't see anything that would cause it to start.
Any suggestions.Take a look in System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items.

Yosemite Preview Highlighting Problems
I use Preview all the time for school. It has been working fine on my iMac, but on my MacBook Air I've been having problems since the semester started up again on Monday.
I cannot use the right click menu inside of a PDF document to highlight material on the MBA. On my iMac, this works fine in the same PDF file (Synced via Dropbox). If I select the highlight tool from the menubar, I can highlight text, but when I click on the highlighted text, I cannot change the color of the text using the right-click menu.
I've tried restarting, clearing the com.apple.Preview files, logging in to safe mode, and creating a new user and the problem persists. Any ideas of what else I could try?I have the same problem in my MacBook Pro(Mid2012), after update 10.10.2 beta 2. Right click in Preview cannot highlight PDF, while highlight using tool bar works well. This problem prevent me from using Preview in my MacBook.
Another problem is that, after updated to Yosemite. Text inserted to pdf is not well organized. It seems that the display border of text have been changed in Preview (Yosemite). This bugs made my previous annotated pdf files look ugly, even if they are annotated by Preview (mavericks). Interestingly, these files are displayed correctly in Goodreader, PDF Expert 5, and Dropbox. -
Desperately need help with preview/publish problem in Captivate 5
I'm working with Captivate 5 latest version (incl patch) on a Win 7 computer.
I have a project of ~120 'light' slides (boxes, buttons, TEBs only on ~30 of the slides), the slide deck is imported from ppt. In addition I have short audio files (recorded with ppt, important into library) for each slide.
My problem: if I preview 'slide' or 'next 5 slides', everything works - but as soon as I try full project preview or 'from this slide', the audio carries on, but the slide content disappears, I get a white screen that is flickering & a sound like continuous mouse clicks. When flickering, you see elements of other slides appear and disappear, but so quickly (milliseconds) that it's impossible to figure out which slides. And most importantly: WHY?
I've tested with various slides as starting point and it always plays out as above, thus don't think it's got something to do with a particular slide.
Hope somebody can help. I'm at my wits end

Premiere Pro Unresponsive after queuing to Media Encoder
In the current version of Premiere Pro (8.1.0), every time a send a sequence to the Media Encoder, Premiere becomes unresponsive. But not in a spinning beach ball of death fashion. It's like the UI is non responsive, with some very strange behavior.

Can't open Application Manager or Application Manager Install??
