Printing a portion of a Numbers Spreadsheet

I've generated a spreadsheet in numbers, and I would like to print a portion of the spreadsheet. I have selected the portion I want to print and and I select print preview the whole page is given to print, multiple pages,etc..It's a simple spreadsheet, not big and yet I get a multiple spreadsheet printout! In Excel this exercise for printing is very to do. There are alot of options in Excel that I do not see in numbers....

Hi Keytone,
Although the feature is not available in Numbers, a workaround is pretty easy. Create a second sheet with a table that mirrors the portion of the original table you want to print. Print that page/sheet.
Click the Sheet button to add a sheet (and a table) to your document.
Click on the first non-header cell on the new table.
Type =
Click on the first table's icon in the sidebar to bring it (and it's sheet) to the front.
Click on the cell at the top left corner of the block you wish to print.
Click the green checkmark to confirm the formula and return to the new table.
Click and drag the small circle at the lower right of the cell down to include the number of rows you want in the selection.
Click and drag the small circle right to include the number of rows you want in the selection.
Press command-P. Choose Pages From 2 to 2 (assuming all of the original table on Sheet 1 would print on a single page; otherwise, use 'one more than the number of pages to print the original' in place of both 2s).
Regards,
Barry

If you feel this omission (Print Selection) should be corrected, be sure to choose Provide Numbers Feedback from the Numbers menu and make the request. I've sent mine.

  • How can I print contiguous rows on a Numbers spreadsheet without having to print the whole spreadsheet page?

I frequently have a need to print a portion of a spreadsheet for a presentation, but find that I have to print the whole spreadsheet page to obtain the information I want.  When I was using Microsoft Excel I could highlight a section of a spreadsheet and print only the highlighted rows.  Is there some way that I can do this in Numbers?  Help will be appreciated.

Numbers differs significantly from Excel in the print paradigm.  If you enable Print View using the menu item "View > Show Print View", you will see exactly how each page will print.
    A Numbers document contains Sheet.
Sheets contains a canvas, on which you place tables, graphics, text, and media.  The canvas is continuous and is divided into pages at print time.
If you want to print just a portion of a table, select the area, copy, the open the Application Preview, select the menu item "File > New From Clipboard"
    Then print

  • How to print one sheet from a Numbers spreadsheet on an iPad?

I know this has been asked before and there are some work arounds...
On my iPad, I have a spreadsheet (it would be called a Workbook in Excel) comprised of a template that I duplicate and use as a data entry sheet for each individual component that I test in my shop.  The spreadsheet is therefore comprised of a template and ten separate sheets, one for each component tested.  I want to be able to email only sheet #6 to a client from my iPad.
Is there an efficient way to do this without coming back to my Mac and using the Print > Save as .pdf fucntionality available on the Mac

  • Is it possible to print a note from numbers spreadsheet

Hi I hope someone can help. Is it possible to print a note from numbers spreadsheet. Or is there any way I can type a ticket that I can print but that will automatically transfer the data to a spreadsheet in numbers?

How about the opposite direction. You have a table with a "key" field, like a ticket #.
You make another sheet that you type in the ticket number and it pulls up the proper data in the proper location for you to print. Just a print tempalte that fills out for the ticket already entered into the data table.

  • HOW CAN I MAKE THE GRIDLINES IN A NUMBERS SPREADSHEET PRINT

I have created a numbers spreadsheet, but when I print it, there are no gridlines.  Because the spreadsheet is a page and a half wide it is hard to follow across to get to the right data.  How can I make the gridline print?

Question asked and answered several times.
Enter the Inspector of Tables and define the borders to fit your needs.

  • Numbers spreadsheet won't print in correctly in landscape from iCloud

I have a Numbers spreadsheet that needs to be printed in landscape to get all the columns to show. Doing this directly in Numbers works as expected and all columns show correctly. However, after it is shared onto iCloud and you attempt to print from there, selecting Landscape flips both the paper and text on the side basically giving the same result as Portrait. Can anyone else confirm this?
    Thank you.

  • How to print a numbers spreadsheet so column numbers show

I'm writing this with zero experience so please be nice   I am trying to print a numbers spreadsheet and I want the Column numbers to show (1,2,3 down the side and A, B,C up top)  How can I do this?  Thanks.

    Hi John,
Apple's design philosophy (keep it simple and non-technical on the surface) is pretty well known, so to me it's not that surprising when they extend that philosophy to Numbers: quite a bit of power under the hood but a deceptively simple interface.
My experience shouldn't be an issue here. But since you brought it up, I am a long-time heavy user of spreadsheets, of Excel more than Numbers, but I find Numbers handy as well, and thought I'd point out my perspective, in response to your "are you kidding?" comment.
In Numbers, column letters and row numbers are just a quick click or a tap away, quite handy for my needs, and I like the fact that they recede gracefully into the background when not needed.
If unlike me you still do a lot of printing out to static reports (as opposed to sharing results dynamically online or on, say, a tablet) then you won't be as happy with Numbers as with many other spreadsheets.
But, as I say, you might consider in your menu going to Numbers > Provide Numbers Feedback.

  • How do I outline a single cell in a numbers spreadsheet

I am trying to emphasise the borders of a single cell in a numbers spreadsheet;  I follow all the instructions I can find in mac help, they just don't make any difference.  I may be ancient, but I can usually suss things out in time; this baffles me.  However, I do realize I may have blundered into the wrong type of help forum here.

To place borders around a cell in Numbers -
Make sure the cell has been selected, i.e. is the active cell.
Click the Inspector tool in the Toolbar -
Then click the Table inspector icon in the Inspector window's toolbar -
In that screen, look down to the section "Cell Borders"...
Click the button for full border (arrow in pic above) -
Adjust the color of the border as needed for visibility (oval in pic above) -
And then you may need to adjust the line weight (thickness) to get it visible on-screen. To do that, click the dropmenu in that section showing "Thin" and select the next item underneath "thin" in the menu. This will make the item just to the right of that menu active - you can then use the arrow-buttons to make the line weight thicker. Although the thinnest setting (0.25 pt) may print okay, on some screens it just doesn't show - especially of the border color has not been set to a hard black. Making it thicker can help in viewing it on-screen.

  • How to automatically update date and time on Numbers spreadsheet

Would like to have printed version of Numbers spreadsheet reflect present date and time.  I know how to do this in Excel, but can't figure out how to get there in Numbers.

Add the date and time to the Header or Footer in the Print Dialog via the Insert menu.
It is only semi-automatic, in that to update the date and time, you must either delete and reinsert the date and time, or you must open the token and update by clicking the Set to Today button.

  • Print 2:1 layout from numbers into pdf zero bytes

    Output desired
1 page landscape with page 1 and 2 side by side
Problem: zero byte output when layout changed
Hi before mavericks / last numbers update i used to be able to print a spreadsheet with 2 separate sheets on one landscape page, by choosing print-->print...>layout (2 pages per sheet), then save as PDF.  Anytime I choose anything other than 1 page per sheet the resulting PDF file has zero bytes and doesn't work.  The print preview in numbers looks correct as well as the print dialogue preview.  Something is failing in the export.  Any ideas?

    Hi lotsokids,
Just to ensure we are all singing the same tune .
A Numbers document consists of one or more sheets (tabs).
Each sheet can have one or more tables plus other objects (shapes, charts, text boxes... ).
A page is a piece of paper in your printer.
Am I right in thinking you have two tables on one sheet?
And you want to line them up within the page margins so that they both print on one page? Screen shot from Print Preview:
Numbers 3 has lost the good old Print View and Layout View of Numbers 2. We are stuck with Print Preview with limited editing options. We can set page margins, orientation (landscape or portrait), page headers and footers, print This Sheet or All Sheets. You may have to drag the Print Setup Panel up to see all the options.
To help align objects within the page margins, click on Done to close Print Preview. Then Menu > Numbers > Preferences > Rulers (and tick all boxes).
Alignment Guides can be dragged from the rulers to show page margins.
See this User Tip on creating a Layout Guide in Numbers 3:

  • How do you put a signature cell in a numbers spreadsheet?

How do you put a signature cell in a numbers spreadsheet?

I'm a car dealer and I created the bill of sale for my dealership in a Numbers spread sheet. I want to be able to use my iPad mini w retina for customers to sign directly on my iPad then print out the BoS with signatures on it so I can make transactions easier for my customers in case I have to meet them somewhere instead of my office. Then I would have the ability to send them another copy if they happen to lose theirs without digging thru my files to find the hard copy and scan and send it to them.
    Thanks

  • How to i print only selected cells in a spreadsheet?

How do you print only selected cells in a spreadsheet using Numbers?

The easiest way is to export it to Excel and save that file to a Windows machine. Then, File->Print Selection. Kidding. Sort of. Like all of the Apple "productivity" software, Numbers has about a thousand things no one uses and does not have the simple things one wants.

I'm trying to make a time sheet and include a grid, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to print a full grid on my spreadsheet.  There are options for shaded grids but I want a defined grid, and I have spent the last 2 hours looking for the answer.  Any ideas?

    Hi Cynthia,
Are you planning to have this table do any of the calculation, or is is to be used as the electronic equivalent of a sheet of paper with a grid printed on it—a place to record the data.
    For your seven column table:
Are you using one or more rows at the top of the table to label the data below? If so, you might want this row (or these rows) to be set as Header Rows.
Are you using the leftmost column to label the rows? If so, you may want this column to be a Header column.
The default table supplied on the "Blank" templates contains one header row and one header column. If you need more (or fewer) Header rows or columns, select the table, then go Table (menu) > Header Rows > (choose the number you need). Repeat to set the number of Header Columns.
To make a seven column table from the table supplied by default, click on any cell in column H (The eighth column), and drag right to add more cells to the selection, until you get to the last column of the table. With these cells selected, Go Table > Delete Columns.
To make the remaining seven columns fit across a single page:
Go View > Show Print View to show the table as it would appear when printed to paper.
Select the table by clicking its icon in the Sheets List to the left (easy method), OR by carefully clicking on the outside boundary of the table itself (fiddley method).
With the table selected, you will see square white handles at each corner and at the middle of each side (including the top and bottom).
With the mouse, grab the handle in the middle of the right side of the table and drag right (or left) until the table just fits onto the width of the defined page.
With the table still selected, set the thickness and colour of the cell boundaries using the Gaphics Inspector (as described by Jerry), or using the Stroke, Thickness and Color Well controls in the Format bar above the working portion of the Window.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Not all text in cells printing...? (Numbers)

    Hi,
I have put together a very simple Numbers spreadsheet (all text, no formulas, etc). Some cells have different size fonts but all the same font none the less. Some cells have text that has had the font changed to a light grey (to make it slightly transparent) and others I've used Subscript for the term of the text.
Now, when reviewing the about-to-be-printed document all looks well. However when I actually do print it some of the text in the fields simply do not print. Some of the greyed text does, but in other cells it doesn't. Some of the Subscripted text does, but in others it doesn't. Any advice please??
I've tried enlarging the guilty cells' width and height but to no avail. It's frustrating as it works in some cells but not others. Basically I'm using Times New Roman Font size 12.
