Problem after a system update

Hello,
Last week I've updated my whole system and now I've got a strange problem launching an application which worked well before :
$mercury
awk: error while loading shared libraries: libdl.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
dirname: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
/bin/ls: error while loading shared libraries: librt.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
basename: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
dirname: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
basename: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
grep: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
/opt/java/jre/bin/java: error while loading shared libraries: libpthread.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
mercury hasn't been updated so it cannot be the problem, and when I do a locate {lib} where lib is the "missing" lib name, I always find it ... what's the problem ?
Thanlks a lot

Just leaving out LD_ASSUME_KERNEL is fine too. This variable was used to select the linuxthreads libraries in glibc, but these are no longer included and we no longer support linuxthreads, only NPTL. NPTL requires a 2.6 kernel, which should be at least 2.6.6 or so. Our glibc build uses 2.6.12 kernelheaders, so our glibc requires a 2.6.12 kernel or later.

  • [SOLVED] Problems after full system update

    You could have run
    lsinitcpio -a /boot/initramfs-linux.img
on the old image to see what modules did it include.
Re-running mkinitcpio probably generated a correct image so it's working now.

  • Wifi problem after.4.3 update on xperia z

    Hi all,
After updating my Xperia Z (C6603) to build number 10.4.1.B.0.101 I've been having connection issues with every Wi-Fi network.
I've checked the forum but I only found problems about people having Wi-Fi issues with their smartwatch, I do not own a smart watch this is just a general networking issues.
    Here's the problem in detail:
When having no Wi-Fi switched on while booting the phone the phone will start without any issues, I will receive my 3G/4G signal and I can browse, e-mail, everything.
Once I switch on Wi-Fi it will start connecting to previously stored Wi-Fi access points but will not connect. Eventually it says that there was a problem with connecting, even though this will take several minutes.
I can go into the Wi-Fi settings, select a different Wi-Fi network (if it is in range) and press connect, however the settings app will freeze at that point and eventually I'll get a notification that the settings app has stopped working.
I have found a "work-around": I switch the Wi-Fi to on, power off the phone and power on again. Now the Wi-Fi connection immediately powers on without an issue once the phone has completely booted, it also will connect to the default Wi-Fi connection that is in range. A different issue appears however once I move out of Wi-Fi range, it will no longer pick up my 3G/4G signal. It is also impossible to switch off Wi-Fi or switch Wi-Fi network connections without rebooting the phone.
As I said before this happened to me after updating to version 10.4.1.B.0.101 after having it received through OTA update. I do not have root access on my phone either so this can't be it.
Is there anyone experiencing the same issues? Is this somehow related to the issues people are experiencing with their smart watch connections (as seen in this topic: http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Software-Updates/wifi-problem-after-4-3-update-on-xperia-z/td-p/490591...
If there's anyone who is experiencing the same issues, or has found a fix for this I'd gladly hear from you.
    Regards,
    Danny

macbookpro 2.53 ghz intel core 2 duo, 8 gb ram
any body an idea what i can do to fix it?

hi - i think you should not use 'xhost +' - it's not secure and you shouldn't need it....
in your .bashrc or .cshrc or whatever, you should have setenv DISPLAY .0 or the equivalent export...
then ssh -Y hostname should be all you need... no xhost, and not setting DISPLAY every time...
could you enter the following command from a terminal window and post back the results?
    grep X11 /etc/ssh*_config
    cheers

  • Unresponsive input devices after full system update

This problem's been going on for a couple of months now. Essentially what happens is that when I perform a normal system update using
    sudo pacman -Syu
and reboot the computer, it will go through the normal booting process (Everything marked as OK), but when the display manager starts, the resolution is significantly lower (probably 800x600 rather than 1366x768). Another symptom is that the neither the keyboard nor the mouse register any input on the screen. (Pressing the 'lock' keys don't trigger the LED on the keyboard, and the mouse doesn't move on the screen).
The only way I've been able to remedy this situation is that everytime I perform a system update, I have to load up the Arch boot CD, and pacstrap the root installing.
    I"m not entirely sure which information one would need to diagnose this problem, but I'll include the output from the system update, and the pactrap update;

    # MODULES
    # The following modules are loaded before any boot hooks are
    # run. Advanced users may wish to specify all system modules
    # in this array. For instance:
    # MODULES="piix ide_disk reiserfs"
    MODULES=""
    # BINARIES
    # This setting includes any additional binaries a given user may
    # wish into the CPIO image. This is run last, so it may be used to
    # override the actual binaries included by a given hook
    # BINARIES are dependency parsed, so you may safely ignore libraries
    BINARIES=""

    # HOOKS
    # This is the most important setting in this file. The HOOKS control the

    # order in which HOOKS are added. Run 'mkinitcpio -H <hook name>' for

    ## This setup specifies all modules in the MODULES setting above.
    ## No raid, lvm2, or encrypted root is needed.
    # HOOKS="base"
    ## This setup will autodetect all modules for your system and should
    ## work as a sane default
    # HOOKS="base udev autodetect block filesystems"
    ## This setup will generate a 'full' image which supports most systems.
    ## No autodetection is done.
    # HOOKS="base udev block filesystems"
    ## This setup assembles a pata mdadm array with an encrypted root FS.
    ## Note: See 'mkinitcpio -H mdadm' for more information on raid devices.

Can we take a peek at your /etc/fstab ?
I think you've the problem I had suspected was going on in that other thread.  I think your boot partition is not mounted on /boot at the time you do the upgrade.  This will cause the new modules to be installed in the libraries.  The new kernel and initrd will be built, and installed to the /boot mount point.  Unfortunately, if the boot partition is not mounted, the files don't replace the old ones and the boot loader uses the stale files the next time you boot.  The old kernel cannot find its modules, because the only ones available belong to the new kernel (you know, the one that was written to what /boot)
If you can use the keyboard after an upgrade, log in and compare the output of uname -a and of pacman -Qi linux.  The versions had better match.
Yes, it seems as if you were right. I must have missed that in the thread you posted. My /etc/fstab does not have the boot partition in it, just the root and home (I'm using lvm for both of them)

  • X301 problems after installing driver updates - won't come out of sleep mode

We have a new X301 with Vista 32 installed. Things were working fine until I ran system update the other day. I've set the power options so not shutdown hibernate, however, after a period of time the system seems to go to sleep or to a screen saver and will not come out of whatever state it is in. The only solution is to power off/on the system.
I have an X500 where there were display driver problems if there was an external monitor (dual monitor) attached. The only thing I can think of is that either there is some similar issue with the X301 since we have an external monitor attached or there is something that was messed up with the drivers that were installed. I do have (for now) restore points before these drivers were installed but I'm not ready to take that drastic step yet (or a full system restore and start over).
Anyone experience this type of issue or have any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Neil

Sadly, I had the issue resurface today. It went into standby/sleep mode while I was in a meeting (on battery power), and later I tried to wake it, and all I got was a black screen with a mouse cursor.
The keyboard brightness and volume keys on the keyboard were responsive (I could hear the audio level clicks as I changed it), but the visual overlay didn't show (where it shows the white speaker graphic with the bar of rectangles representing volume level). Also, the screen brightness keys did nothing.
I finally used Ctrl + Cmd + Power to force a restart. Luckily, my user account didn't get completely hosed like it did a couple weeks ago.
So, it looks like Migration Assistant isn't the culprit here. This is the system I just finished rebuilding. So it's either a bug in OS X/Mavericks, or it's due to an application I have running, or a configuration change I've made.
It seems to only happen when I'm on battery power, for what that's worth. I don't recall it ever happening when I'm plugged in. I have Power Nap disabled while on battery power, btw.
I'm going to enable SSH access so I can try to SSH in the next time this happens. Perhaps that will provide useful diagnostic info.
Anyone have any tips or suggestions?

  • Problem after Energy Manager update to 3.20

    Hi there,
I have a problem with my t61 in order to energy manager after updating it to version 3.20.
The symbol of the charge condition in the task bar disappeared and an error prompt appeared after new start ("Error by loading
C:\PROGRA~1\ThinkPad\UTILIT~1\PWMTR32V.dll Can't find denoted module" [translated to engl.].
The error also occures when I try to set the option "task bar" in options of energy manager.
Are there any information about this lil problem on the boards?
    Thanks so far.

    Hi,
It happened to me when I downloaded Power Manager 3.20 through system update.
To cure it I have dowmloaded Power Manager from Lenovo site

  • Getting disheartened by lack of BB support, big Q10 problems after most recent update!!!

I am very frustrated and in need of some help.
I have a Q10 and after the most recent operating system update, multiple things are wrong.
    1. The camera does not work. It makes shutter noise when using the rear facing camera, but does not save any of the pictures.
    2. Will not even let me enable the front facing camera, freezes phone when I try to use it.
    3. Will not let me attach pictures/files to any text message.
    4. Has problem accessing text message conversations that were there prior to update, have had to delete all and start over.
    5. Sends out multiple text messages by its self. resends messages that are days old and jumbles current messages went sent.
Basically, the phone is not pperating at all like it should. I have on;y had this phone 3 months and after the update, it seems to have ruined it. This is my first BlackBerry in years, I bought it in hopes that they had fixed their previous issues, this doesn't seem to be the case. Was considering upgrading to the Classic, however, I don't think I will unless this gets resolved.
SOMEONE HELP!!! Thank you in advance.

There are major problems with the 10.3 update on the Q10.  Many people are downgrading back to 10.2.1 until BB can get their heads out of their arses and fix the issues.

  • [SOLVED] Inkscape bug after last system update

After the last system update I started to have problems in Inkscape when I tried to adjust the color and alpha sliders to maximum values. They would only go up to 245. This means that a lot of basic colors are not achievable anymore, and the opacity cannot be set to maximum, which basically makes Inkscape unusable. After googling it for a while, I understood that there was a similar problem some time ago with Inkscape version 0.46-7 and GTK+ (here is a far better description of the bug, https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=467431), but this problem was assumably fixed in a later version (for the Red Hat package anyway). I am using at the moment Inkscape 0.46-10 and GTK2. Anyone with similar problems? Please help and thank you very much!

under the fill and stroke dialogue (ctrl-f), there is a small input box called RGBA which is just that, 1 byte for each channel. edit it at will. you will notice the sliders dont go past 245, but the value used by inkscape is the hex number there

  • Finder(?) problem after installing security update 2008-008

I hope someone can help with this problem:
After I installed Security update 2008-008 the finder(?) has begun to behave irratically.
Whenever the mousepad is clicked, the dock slides off to the left and the click is not registered by whichever application I am in. Mostly menus are affected. I now have to click the application and menu item several times before the click is registered.
Safari is particularly badly affected with the pointer jumping around the screen when trying to copy an url (dock keeps sliding to the left), page back/forward doesn't work - url links within web pages are not recognised. Furthermore, when using yahoo mail, menus like 'send' and 'save' are not recognised.
Any suggestions how to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated!
    Andrew

    HI Andrew,
This is most likely caused by some 3rd part APP or kext that is now out of date.
Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then test your problem there.
Now reboot in regular mode, if the problem didn't happen in Safe Mode, but does in Regular mode, See if there is anything relevant in...
    /private/var/run/StartupItems
    /Library/StartupItems
    /System/Library/StartupItems
Also look in in Your Accounts Pref Pane Login Items window.

  • Large Backup After Last System Update

There have been a lot of problems after 10.6.5 update, and this is another one. TM backup went from 120 GB to 240 GB after the system upgrade. I had to stop it manually, so I don't know if it would have continued in an infinite look until the disk was full as has happened to me before.
Does anybody know the cause of TM filling the backup disk?
When I enter TM there are only a couple of increments available.
I suppose I need to delete the whole archive and start again.
Does anybody know a way I can save my incremental backups?

A quick look at some of your recent posts indicates you may have done a full restore. That results in a full backup. See #D3 in [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
    If not, see #D4 there.
When I enter TM there are only a couple of increments available.
Most likely, it deleted many old backups to make room for the new one.
I suppose I need to delete the whole archive and start again.
You can, of course, but if it had started backing-up, it had made enough space.
Does anybody know a way I can save my incremental backups?
The ones already deleted are gone for good.
The remaining ones probably won't be deleted when you do the next backup, but a few might. If not, they'll likely be deleted before long.
You may want to consider getting a larger backup drive, at least 3 times the size of the data on your system.

  • BUG: text rendering problems after keyboard firmware update

    Hey all!
Just letting you know that today, after installing the keyboard/mouse firmware update 1.0, the font rendering in many applications become weird, letters may overlap, see some screenshots:
    http://artemio.net/tmp/apple/bug1.png
    http://artemio.net/tmp/apple/bug2.png
My system is iMac Intel Core Duo 17", 2 GB RAM, 250 GB HDD, Mac OS 10.4.6.

Just to clarify, that was a software update, not a firmware update. I don't think the keyboard has any resident firmware.
Since this is a new update from Apple, and there have been very few posts about problems after it was installed, (I have seen a couple here) I think that you should call and speak directly with an Apple Customer Service rep. That way Apple knows some have issues with the update and they may have suggestions.
Let us know what they say.

  • Problems with recent system update

All my problems started with the most recent software update. I did the most recent set of updates which required a restart. After restart, I noticed that it was taking a REALLY long time to load up, so I left it over night and came back in the morning. I thought "hmmm 10 hours, maybe it'll take 16", so I went to work. Came home, still hanging at the gray Apple startup screen. Finally, I called Apple and they told me to force shut down, unplug for 15 seconds and retry. Followed these instructions, still got the little logo. Finally the gentleman tells me to force shutdown, and reset the pram (CommandOption+PR). This REALLY screwed things up as now I am stuck at a blank screen with NO Apple logo. I have tried every keyboard shortcut imaginable, to no avail. Anybody else had this problem? "Guess you have to take it to an Apple genius" is the final response of my phone call. Well, 4 hours to the nearest Apple store isn't something I want to do. Also, considering all was well before the System Update, paying for shipping/repair is also not something that I want to swallow. Any suggestions would be great.

OK you did a SMC reset and then seperatly did a PRAM reset. Now try doing them in this sequence and your system should start OK.
    1. Turn off your iMac and unplug everything from it for 30 seconds.
    2. Plug in the power cord, keyboard and mouse only.
    3. Press the power button and immediately hold down the Option, Command, P & R keys until you hear the second gong then release the keys. Your machine will start up normally, then check for the issues you are having.

  • My playbook wont show any wifi after a system update

I did a system  update, afterward it didn't connect to any wifi network.  I did a reset but still saying connect to wi-fi select a network and no network shows up.  any suggestion?

if you want to reset to factory then follow this.
First I would like you to do a Back Up of your PlayBook using your computer and BlackBerry Desktop Software.
This can be downloaded for free from http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
After the Back Up is complete I need you to unplug your PlayBook and then push and hold down the Power Button until the unit Force Powers Off.
Now, while Desktop Software is still open on your computer and the PlayBook Powered Off, Connect the PlayBook to your computer.
You should see and error screen from Desktop Software pop up that has the options to Retry, Update, or Cancel.
    QUICKLY choose the Update option.
This will erase all the information off of your PlayBook and Re-Write the Software back onto it. Once it's complete your PlayBook will need to go back through the setup wizard, and you can then perform a restore using Desktop Software to return your information. The only thing that won't come back after the restore are the apps that you downloaded from App World but they can be easily Re-Installed using the My World feature in App World.

  • Missing DLL after Lenovo System Update

I upgraded to Windows 10 on my ThinkPad Twist. After that, I ran Lenovo's System Update and downloaded and installed all the recommended updates. Now when I reboot I get a message saying that C:\Program Files (X86)\Thinkpad\Utilities\PWMTR64V.dll is missing. Searching the Lenovo support site for this DLL file name shows that it is related to Windows 7 Power Management. However, one of the updates from Lenovo was Power Management for Windows 10. I am hesitant to install the Power Management update for Windows 7 (which I'm guessing will solve my missing DLL problem, but maybe not) after installing such an update specific to Windows 10. But I don't want to have to have that popup message about a missing DLL every time I boot. Anyone know how I can resolved this?

theo, thank your for providing your solution. Please click solved to your thread.
Yes some updates can cause problem, especially R&R or CSS.
It´s important not to download everything and carefully read the read me´s of every update,
