Problem building some pkgs from AUR

I think this must have a known solution, but I didn't found it :-/ so I'm asking.
Today I tried to compile these pkgs: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=754, http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=261
In both cases, I got this Error message (while running ./configure):
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for gawk... gawk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /bin/install -c
checking for ranlib... ranlib
checking for gcc... gcc
checking for C compiler default output file name... a.out
checking whether the C compiler works... configure: error: cannot run C compiled programs.
If you meant to cross compile, use `--host'.
See `config.log' for more details.
config.log
I suppose it's  a problem with gcc 4.3, but where? How the pkgbuilds/sources should be modified? Any hints?

I tried to compile cuetools from the AUR PKGBUILD and it works on my machine without any errors.
For comparison you get in the config.log file :
configure:2225: checking for C compiler default output file name
configure:2228: gcc -march=i686 -mtune=generic -O2 -pipe   conftest.c  >&5
/usr/bin/ld: warning: cannot find entry symbol _start; defaulting to 080481b0
configure:2231: $? = 0
configure:2277: result: a.out
configure:2282: checking whether the C compiler works
configure:2288: ./a.out
./configure: line 2289:  6128 Illegal instruction     ./$ac_file
configure:2291: $? = 132
configure:2300: error: cannot run C compiled programs.
if you meant to cross compile, use `--host'.
and I get :
configure:2225: checking for C compiler default output file name
configure:2228: gcc -march=i686 -mtune=generic -O2 -pipe   conftest.c  >&5
configure:2231: $? = 0
configure:2277: result: a.out
configure:2282: checking whether the C compiler works
configure:2288: ./a.out
configure:2291: $? = 0
configure:2308: result: yes
But I could not find the origin of your error.
I have gcc version 4.3.0 running well on my i686 machine.
Sorry for not being more helpful presently.

  • [SOLVED] Building VCS packages from AUR fails

    Hello,
Whenever I try to build a git or svn package from AUR, build fails with the error in a clean chroot enviroment:

When the build starts, makepkg actually downloads source files properly. Any clues?

Trilby wrote:How many packages has this happened with?  Can you give an example of one that produces this error?  If the download proceeds when the build starts, it sounds like the PKGBUILD is outdated and is manually grabbing the source in the build function (in pacman<4.0 style).
    I was building https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/uefi-shell-svn: a popular and up-to-date PKGBUILD.
Indeed I didn't merge the conf files of  clean chroot. There was a makepkg.conf.pacnew, the lacking part in my old makepkg.conf was:
    VCSCLIENTS=('bzr::bzr'
    'git::git'
    'hg::mercurial'
    'svn::subversion')
and some small changes. Everything works fine now. Was my bad. Sorry for incovenience and thanks for your help.

  • Problem installing android-sdk from AUR using yaourt

    Hi all,
I use yaourt to install packages from the AUR but I'm having an issue with android-sdk.
Whenever I run 'yaourt -S android-sdk' it seems to detect that the 'java-runtime' is not installed.
However, I do have sun's jre and jdk installed (I was having applet issues with openjdk) and it detects this when it actually starts installing it.
But it just reinstalls the package and quits without installing the android sdk. If I run yaourt again, the same thing happens.
Does anyone have an idea of what the problem might be?
I could download the tar.gz from google but I'd rather keep everything handled by arch package management.

Is that a show stopper for yaourt?  I use aurbuild and did that install the other night.  It tripped over the java runtime and pitched a warning, but the build worked and it installed.
I could download the tar.gz from google but I'd rather keep everything handled by arch package management.
Even if you hand build the AUR in a directory of your choice, the resultant package is still integrated into your Arch system using the -U option of pacman.  Regadrless of the front end (Yaourt, aurbuild, or roll-your-own), pacman tracks the package as 'Foreign'.  FYI.

I just tried to compile pulseaudio 0.9.14 from the pulseaudio website on arch x86_64.
In my /etc/makepkg.conf I have CHOST="x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu" So i don't think its the problem

    Also note that

No way this single game is over 9.5 gigs.
I'm not even seeing where it's trying to install to.
Is this a problem with the package build or am I not seeing something?

I wrote the pkgbuild, so I've got it installed

  • Problem building simple jar from JDev

    Hi,
I have an application using bc4j/jclient running under JDev 9.0.2.
Now I want to deploy the whole application into one jar file, including all the used libraries (for bc4j, log4j, ...).
This works fine using the "simple jar wizard". I get one big jar file with everything I need.
The problem occurs when starting the application with something like "java -jar archive1.jar". The application runs fine until the moment, where an ini-file should be read. I get a FileNotFoundException for that ini file. The ini file itself is contained in the jar file, exactly in the directory where I would have supposed it to be (../app/config/app.ini).
From within JDeveloper everything works fine.
Could someone tell me, what I miss? Seems like there is used another "virtual root dir" or do I have to alter the manifest file?
    Thanks in advance,
    Torsten.

I found the solution for the problem.
If you put an application into a jar file, you can't read images, ini-files, etc. with a kind of File.open(). The files are then searched at runtime in the dir where the jar exists (or in a classpath). You have to use something like "MyClass.class.getResource()" to get the right URL to a resource you want to load.
This is a pure java standard issue, nothing to do with BC4J/JClient or JDeveloper.
    Thanks,
    Torsten.

  • Cannot build ewebkit-svn from AUR due to harfbuzz issue

    HI,
I am unable to build ewebkit-svn due to harfbuzz been split into harfbuzz and harfbuzz-icu. This seems to a known problem in webkit, there has been a patch to fix this but I think it is not working for EFL port.
Please let me know if anyone else has faced issue and has any idea how to fix it.
    Thanks and regards,
    Saurabh

I reported it on their bug tracker a while ago, but no response (which is not a surprise). The GTK port fixed it a few days after the harfbuzz update, and the EFL port still hasn't after more than 2 months.
Edit, I hadn't looked around for a while. This patch looks promising, I'm testing a version now: http://www.mail-archive.com/pld-cvs-com … 16358.html

  • Puzzling problem mounting some partitions from drive connected via airport

I have an external drive with three partitions connected to my airport. Under Tiger, the mounting process for all those partitions was seamless and never failed. As soon as I upgraded to Leopard, however, everything fell apart. Now I can't mount two of the three partitions at all.
When the external drive is connected directly to my MacBook Pro, each partition mounts routinely. When I connect it via my Airport Extreme, the finder window shows that I am connected; but when I attempt to access the partitions on the drive, I get this error message: 'The operation cannot be completed because the original item cannot be found.' I get the same error message for each of the first two partitions on the drive and can mount only the last partition.
When I attempt to mount the partitions manually via the Go menu in the finder, I get essentially the same result: error messages for the first two partitions saying that they cannot be mounted and a normal mounting of the third partition.
Any ideas or clues as to what is actually happening here would be most appreciated. It's very frustrating to have lost access to my backup drive purely by upgrading to Leopard and not find any obvious way to regain it.

Thanks, but I have no problem accessing the drive. All I have to do is plug it directly into my laptop using either USD or Firewire. The problem is with accessing it via Airport so I can run my normal backup routine as I did under Tiger without first a lot of fiddling with cables. After all, the result of installing Leopard shouldn't have been to decrease functionality, should it?
With a direct connection, everything functions normally. With an Airport connection, nothing functions. None of the partitions show up on the desk top, none show up when I run disk utility, and -- as explained before -- I cannot even mount two of the three partitions manually. I've also noticed now that, when I do mount the one partition that will mount, it freezes the finder when I try to unmount it. After that I have to relaunch the finder in order to regain functionality.
It seems pretty obvious that the whole mess is a function of Leopard and Airport somehow, but I'm just at a loss to narrow the problem down any further.

  • Uninstalling from AUR

I installed a pkg from AUR (ksplash-arch to be exact) but found i didnt like it. So how do i remove it? i did tar -xf file.tar.gz makepkg -c the pacman -U file.pkg.tar.gz
    Help?

    j.roszk wrote:
    man pacman
In your case it should be pacman -R ksplash-arch
As j.roszk said, you can remove the package with Pacman.
Even though the PKGBUILD and perhaps some other files were obtained through AUR, running makepkg builds a package that can be handled by Pacman -- the same kind that you download when installing from the official repositories.
Without the use of a wrapper or other utility, Pacman itself will allow you to install the package you built, keep track of its installed presence, and remove it (using a command similar to that quoted above). Upgrading the package, on the other hand, will -- in the absence of said wrapper or utility -- require that you download the updated tarball and/or PKGBUILD, run makepkg again, and install the new package over the old one.

Even when i tried it without any window manager to start, limiting the RAM usage, the problem still persists. The only way is to allot an extra swap space, but that would mean that i will have to delete a partition, which is not a feasible solution. Is there anything else one could do. ?

  • Problem importing into FCPX from SD card

Hi, I'm having a problem importing some videos from a micro SD card into FCPX.  It is some helmet camera footage shot at 720P @ 30fps.  It's a .mov file.
My problem is when I go to the "import media" window, I can see the files on the import screen.  I can also skim and play the files before they are imported.  The first time I tried to import them, I got an error message (which I unfortunately didn't write down). After I clicked "OK" on the error message, I could still see the file thumbnail, but if I hovered my mouse over it, the thumbnail turned black. I then restarted FCPX, and tried again.  I found that I could still see, skim, and play the file, but when I choose to "import selected" the little pie shaped downloading icon doesn't appear anymore and the file doesn't attempt to import.
Should I go to Disk Utility and do a "Verfiy Disk" and "Repair Disk" (if necessary) or might I permanantly delete the corrupted file if I "fix" it by repairing the disk?
I have a screenshot of the import screen if needed, but the resolution is terrible.  I'll need to take another one if it would be beneficial to see it.
Thanks in advance for any help!
    Glen

A screen shot would be good..
If you have mulltple files and you know which one is a problem, select just the others and import them.
Try copying the entire card to your HD and seeing whether it will import from your computer.
