Problem relocating Windows and highlghting text

I have had this ongoing problem for some time, I was asked to reissue it to learn more about the next step in my troubleshooting isolation and maybe get some fresh ideas. I have an Apple G3 B/W PPC desktop ( my RAM is woefully low and I know I need to add more) with an Upgraded G4 Processor. My problem is two-fold; 1) I am unable to highlight text for the purpose of copy/paste/delete. This occurs when I am in a internet browser, Mail or an Application, such as Microsoft Office. 2) I am also unable to move windows on my desktop.
I have had a number of troubleshooting recommendations ,among the ones I have executed:
I have done items 1 - 4
1) Safe Boot>Use Disk Utility > repair Permissions>Repair Hard Drive >Retest problems( tested both in Safe/Normal Mode)
2) Used Applejack to assure my hardware was in good working order >Safe Boot >Disk Utilities >Repair Permissions > Retest Problems ( tested in both Modes)
3) Create New Account to verify if problem is Account Specific
4) Disconnect all Peripherals and non Apple Hardware (USB Hub and HIGH SPEED PCI USB Adapter
RECOMMENDATIONS MADE BY APPLE DISCUSSION GROUP MEMBERS
5) Performed OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update > Retest Problems
6) Check Ownership & Permission of the following Files
User/You User Name/Preferences/com.apple.finder,plist

                                                                   .recentitems.plist
**All files were set to READ & WRITE
7) Was recommended to execute Archive & Install of OS X 10.4. Tiger >Software Update > Safe Boot >Disk Utility > Repair Permissions > Retest Problem
8) was recommended to read http://support.apple.com/kb/TA21161?viewlocale=en US **Stated that Idid not experience symptoms outlined in document. Was informed that /tmp folder was also responsible for Copy/Paste
9) was provided a program, /tmp to be inputted into my computer*
* THIS IS THE NEXT STEP. I have several questions regarding inputing the /tmp program into my computer, since this is my first attempt at entering code
a) Do I use the Terminal program listed in the Utilities App?
b) Do I enter the lines of code one at a time or do I copy and paste the whole program?
c) Is there anything special I need to do to exit the program when I have completed the line by line code input or the copy/paste input?

file to be typed in Terminal App.. Should there be< at beginning and > at end end of each line of code?
*Restart or Force Quit Finder required to take effect.
When typing the code, I exited Terminal before restarting. Could this be the reason that there is no Hidden Files listed?

Problem between windows and unix

i got a class and a text file whith characters like '�' in it.
when i launch my class on windows there'no problem.
The file is read and the data are record in Oracle correctly (whith the accents).
When i copy the data and the class on unix i got '?' instead of '�' in Oracle.
Can anybody know why i got this problem ?

The default character encoding on your unix machine seems to support only ascii characters .
I recommend the following.
Open the text file in notepad . Do a "save as" . At this point set the encoding as "UTF-8" .
Transfer this file to the unix m/c.
When you run your java class , specify the default encoding for jVM as UTF8
This can achieved by specifying
java -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 class

Problem with focus and selecting text in jtextfield

I have problem with jtexfield. I know that solution will be very simple but I can't figure it out.
This is simplified version of situation:
I have a jframe, jtextfield and jbutton. User can put numbers (0-10000) separated with commas to textfield and save those numbers by pressing jbutton.
When jbutton is pressed I have a validator which checks that jtextfield contains only numbers and commas. If validator sees that there are invalid characters, a messagebox is launched which tells to user whats wrong.
Now comes the tricky part.
When user presses ok from messagebox, jtextfield should select the character which validator said was invalid so that user can replace it by pressing a number or comma.
I have the invalid character, but how can you get the focus to jtextfield and select only the character which was invalid?
I tried requestFocus(), but it selected whole text in jtextfield and after that command I couldn't set selected text. I tried with commands setSelectionStart(int), setSelectionEnd(int) and select(int,int).
Then I tried to use Caret and select text with that. It selected the character I wanted, but the focus wasn't really there because it didn't have keyFocus (or something like that).
Is there a simple way of doing this?

Your system doesn't meet the requirements and that is that. AE has required 900 pixel height ever since CS4. Other than changing your screen res or shuffling around windows there is nothing you can do.

This is a javascript/html question, and has nothing to do with Java/JSP.
You could do it with plain javascript/html using window.opener.
I would recommend using something like a [YUI 2 Panel|http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/container/panel/] to do it.
Opening new windows is a thing of the past.

i create smartform for printing tax document and found problem.

i create layout in form like this.

with many data in table, so this form will take 10 page up to print. i found and showed in every page.
in my solution *i want to display and on last page after {Main Window} Only*. how to resolve this.
2) follow to 1st question, can i place position of each window in dynamic? +like 's position is under {Main Window} 2 cm.+ instead of specific position left margin , upper margin *or should i create other page and place and .*
3) i create 2 variables (sum1 type p , sum2 type p ) for keep sum of tax in table that show in each page and write it at end of each page. i want to clear data in these 2 variables when system create new page and start to keep sum of value again. i create program line node under {Main Window} after but don't know which code or syntax to write.how to code this?

1) On the 'Conditions' tab of your WIndow3 & WIndow4 just click the check box
'Only After End of Main Window'. It will always be printed at the last after your main window is finished.
2) And if you don't want your window3 & window4 in a fixed place than instead of new windows do the same thing inside your main window creating a new template or anything as per your requirement and place it after your main table.
3) For clearing the fields, do it like this, in the program lines write the code below:
IF G_PAGE NE SFSY-PAGE. " declare g_page with initial value '0'
    CLEAR field1.
    CLEAR field2.
    G_PAGE = SFSY-PAGE.
ENDIF.

Problem with copying and pasting text blocks in Fireworks CS5

Until recently when I copied and pasted a text block in Fireworks CS5, the block would retain all formatting applied to the copied text block, font, size, color, etc. Now, the pasted block reverts to some default setting. Oddly, if I copy multiple text blocks, the formatting is retained as expected, but not if I copy a single text block. I cannot find a preference that affects this, and I cannot figure out what might have changed. The current behaviour is definitely not desired, and is dramatically affecting my efficiency. Anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas how to correct this? Thanks.

Sure, thanks for replying so quickly. My workflow is simple. My problem is limited to copying and pasting within Fireworks. I typically select an entire block with the main selection arrow but I sometimes use this one too depending on the context. I usually just use the keyboard CTRL-C then CTRL-V to paste. Previously (and I have been using FW for years, it's always been the same) it would paste an identical text block directly over the top of the copied one, and it looked exactly the same, same font, same color, etc. Now, it pastes a new block in the center of the document and all the formatting has reverted to what I guess is the default, in this case Myriad Pro 12pt. The behavior is the same no matter which arrow I use to select the text block. I tried Edit>Copy and Edit>Paste, the effect was the same. The Duplicate function seems to work as desired, but I had never noticed or tried that command before reading your post. Using the keyboard to copy/paste is such an ingrained habit I'd much prefer to continue using it as I always have instead of trying to retrain myself. (I'm old, retraining is hard!)

Most often I copy and paste directly on the canvas, but occasionally will do it within the layers panel. Both now have the same undesired effect. I also tried creating a new document to see if it was a corruption in my current file, but the issue persisted to the new document as well.

Problems with Windows and Random Crashes

For the past two days I have been having tons of problems, since I finally got around to running the security update (2006-008). I've been having loads of random crashes, most commonly from Safari, Finder and iTunes. Safari crashes usually when I close a window or interact with certain flash things. It also fails to draw the window when I close the second-to-last tab (leaving one tab), giving me a big white square that I have to close. Otherwise, random window elements (such as bookmarks bar, address bar, etc.) will disappear at random, or will be horribly mis-sized.
Finder just quits whenever it wants, I have yet to find a common thread between crashes.
iTunes crashes usually when I play a video, but also sometimes when switching from the store to a playlist, or to the library. It also suffers occasional redraw problems similar to Safari, though not as bad. Garage Band does too.

That error usually comes up as a result of faulty RAM. Did you buy any chance upgrade the RAM in your iMac? If so, verify that the chip is seated properly and that it is supported for your iMac.

HP 15-n086sl problems with windows and drivers amd

I have a problem with my HP 15 - n086sl .
With native Windows 8 did not.
the problem is the following :
moving from windows 8 to 8.1 I lose the switch graphics cards.
I mean : if I click with the mouse on "configure switchable graphics cards " I get out of a window that says " Unable to start Catalyst Control Center. currently there are no other settings to configure with CCC"
I tried to update the drivers with the ones on the HP site for windows 8.1 , but nothing changes .
From " Device Manager " I noticed that the drivers you have installed AUTOMATIC moving from windows 8 to 8.1 are the same version as on the hp website .

If I install the drivers from the AMD website I have the following problems :
the switch returns to work but hibernation no longer works and if the screen of the PC goes into standby by moving the mouse or pressing both buttons it never recovers . I have to turn off the computer by holding down the button.

Problems highlight, drag and drop text in Microsoft Word from Adobe Free

We work with two screens (monitors), and is open on a document opened from the Adobe (free) (extension. PDF) and other Word (Microsoft). In previous versions of Adobe, you could highlight a word or text and just drag them to the Word, without the need to "copy" and "paste". In this version of the Adobe XI, there is the same possibility, since we're not getting to do as before?

Really, after that there was updated in our system of electronic procedural actions (I work in Federal Court in the state of Santa Catarina in Brazil) stopped working the highlight text and drag it to the document from Microsoft Word 2007. Anyway, I believe that the problem is not with Adobe Reader, but our system has been updated.

I am having problems making calls and sending text messages and now getting my iphone activated.

I have a iPhone 4 and I had problems sending texts and making calls so I got a new one. I then gave my boyfriend my old iphone snd told him if he could get it to work he could have it. For some reason we are having problems getting it to activate. it wont let us make calles to verizon or anything on it. I do still have a warranty on the phone so would I be able to send it in and get a new one? or how does that work?

PLEASE HELP!!! Problem with Java and SQLServer Text data type

I have a java app. that reads from an MS SQLServer database. Originally, all long text fields were declared as NVARCHAR(200). The program worked fine.
Someone then advised that I change all long text fields to the TEXT data type. The program now crashes out with the following Exception:
"java.sql.SQLException: [JRun][SQLServer JDBC Driver]This ResultSet can not re-read row data for column 25."
Basically, I have a method that retrieves a resulset and iterates through it. The resultset is passed to another method during each iteration. In the example below, the 'specialNote' field used to be NVARCHAR(200). The code worked fine. Then when it was changed to TEXT, the program no longer works with the above Exception thrown.
Anyone know any special way SQLServer TEXT data types need to be handled?

Thanks for the suggestion. I originally had the code do what you suggested, ie, get the resultset then retrieve the data all within the same method. The data is then used to set properties in an object.
When I had to create another method that also retrieved a resultset but using a different primary key, then also use the returned data to set the properties in the same type of object, I didn't want to repeat the setter code. That's why I decided to pass the resultsets to the same method that did the property setting.
Unfortunately, it stopped working with the data type change.
Any other thoughts?

Please help... Problems with windows and bluetooth

Hi,
My computer has been working without a hitch for the past 3 months but just recently i bought a bluetooth mouse to use with mac and windows. But then I noticed that there are some major issues now.
I have a Bluetooth devices icon in my control panel (actually two of them, i dont know how that happened) but in the device manager, there is no apple bluetooth kicker. No bluetooth hub at all. So I dont know if the driver actually installed or not.
Then, I try booting back up the macintosh drivers for windows cd to use the uninstall, but it can't uninstall. It only installs. I tried uninstalling through add or remove programs and it still just installs over again.
Please, somebody help me. I'm about to rip my MBP a new one.

I am having a problem with copying and pasting text into the Safari search bar.

For example, when I copy and paste "Organic Chemistry: A Short Course" it will change to Organic%20Chemistry:%20A%20Short%20Course"
It will then tell me it has failed to open page, even though my interenet is otherwise working.
How can I fix this?

What you tried worked for me. Try "Organic Chemistry - A Short Course" It took me to the same search result as what you are trying.
