Problems Removing Secondary Domain and agents

I had a secondary Domain and a gwia and webaccess agent running on an vm box. The box had issues and crashed and I was unable to recover it. I am now left with a secondary domain and two gateways that I can cannot get rid of because the edir objects are gone. I get this error when I try to connect to the gateways....E-Directory counterpart of this object does not exist. The objects are not in edir. I am also unable to delete the domain because it has subordinates left under it. What are my choices for cleaning this out. I really would like to get this resolved before I try to upgrade to GW8.
Thanks so much for your help!

This can be fairly difficult given your situation of not being able to recover the server so you might consider opening a service request with a partner or Novell Technical Support. I will try to give you the steps to follow though here..
1. You need to first get the object back in the tree. To do this, you must graft them in by selecting a container in the tree and selecting Tools|GroupWise Utilities|GW/eDIr Associations|Graft GroupWise Objects. Follow the wizard through all the steps. This should get you the objects back though I do not understand why they would be gone in the first place with just a server crash. I assume that eDir was on other servers as well so wondering if you manually deleted the objects but either way, that is what you need to do.
2. This is where it can be a bit tricky. You need to create a temp folder on the server and rebuild the secondary domain into that folder so that you have a database to work with. Just go to properties of that secondary domain and change the UNC path to point to the temp folder and then under GroupWise Utilities|System Maintenance choose Rebuild Database. In the end, there should be a wpdomain file in that temp folder.
3. Copy in all the .dc files from your primary domain root folder into this temp folder.
4. You now need to Release that secondary domain from the GroupWise system. To do this, make sure you are connected to the primary GW domain and then right click on the secondary in question and choose GroupWise Utilities|GroupWise System Maintenance and then there is an option to release secondary. This also brings up a wizard to walk you through the process.
5. Now the secondary should show up in your live system as an external system. You just need to go under Tools|GroupWise System Operations|External System Synchronization and delete the new link it automatically created.
6. Now you can just delete the objects. You may need to delete them separately from the tree afteward.
Let me know if you have any more questions or need clarification.

  • Moving a Secondary Domain and Its Associated GWIA

    I need to free up a server for my GroupWise 2014 move from stand-alone hardware to a brand new SAN/Virtual environment and I could use some tips so I don't screw it up by forgetting something (and I don't want to do it the hard way, any tips to make it an easy thing would be helpful). I'm looking for tips on how to move the domain, not on virtualization.
    Here's the dirt:
    I have a primary domain set up on its own server, running a GWIA named "GWIA2" (for outgoing mail only)
    I have a secondary domain on its own server, running a GWIA named "GWIA" (for incoming mail only). The secondary domain has no post offices, just the GWIA. It's only purpose is to accept incoming mail and forward it to the primary domain. This is the server I need to free-up... I need the hardware.
    My plan at this point is to move the secondary domain (and GWIA) to the same server that the primary domain (and GWIA2) resides on temporarily, so I can use the secondary domain's server as a "virtual" server starting point, once I get the newly freed-up server into my virtual environment, I can then migrate the rest of my GW system over. Once the migration to virtual is complete, I can then move the secondary domain back to its own server (if I even really need to).
    My questions:
    1) Do I even need to move the secondary domain and GWIA? Should I just delete it and run with one domain? I'm in a state government situation and we get a LOT of incoming mail when we are in session. This is why I set up two domains in the first place; one for incoming mail and one to handle outgoing (the primary domain handles the outgoing mail because the volume is considerably lower than incoming mail).
    2) Does it even make sense to have a separate server for incoming mail and outgoing mail after virtualization?
    3) If I do need to move the domain, what steps would I need to take? I'm thinking about things like reconfiguring the links, moving the objects in GWadmin console, IP Address changes (I do not need to change the MX record, that points to my SMTP filter, which then forwards the messages to my secondary domain - I'd just need to point it at the new IP address).
    Any other thoughts would be appreciated. I'm just now beginning to form the outline of what I need to do and I thought I'd get input from you guys to help me solidify my plan. Any advice or thoughts will be graciously welcomed.

    Correct - if you have them bind to separate IP addresses, they should work, but
    otherwise only one GWIA per server. I personally am not sure that separate
    GWIAs are all that important. Two domains are nice though for disaster
    recovery, but if they are both on the same server, the redundancy is not really
    there.

    There are a number of issues with network booting in LDOM 1.0.2, I think they affect all versions of the LDOM software though. If you add a vnet to a guest domain and then try and jumpstart a guest domain from time to time immediately after the guest domain does the RARP request it hangs. Just sending a break to the guest domain, going back to the ok prompt and starting the boot net - install again generally fixes it.
    Also there are some gotcha's with LDOM's that affect jumpstart.
    1) If you chose option a) harden the OS using JASS when doing the installation of the LDOM software and you have the jumpstart server on the control domain then it isn't going to work. JASS turns off things like rpcbind which will prevent jumpstart from working. The same problem affects network booting. You would think that running a jass-execute -u to undo the hardening of the o/s in the control domain would work but it doesn't and you have to start over with a fresh solaris image for the control domain. This only applies if you have your jumpstart server on your control domain.
    2) Since jumpstart relies on the MAC of the client to function and since with LDOM's the MAC is dynamically assigned from a pool of address's you can end up with the wrong entry in /etc/ethers on your jumpstart server. That is worth checking.
    3) Since the MAC of the virtual network device isn't the same as the MAC shown when you run banner at the ok prompt in the guest domain you can end up with the wrong entry in /etc/ethers. Either do a boot net (vnet1 whatever) and then make a note of the MAC its broadcasting or do an ldm list-bindings domainname for the guest you want to network boot and copy and paste the MAC of the virtual network you are going to be booting from.
    All the regular gotcha's with net boot and jumpstart still apply with LDOM's but so do all the usual fixes. Use of snoop will allow you do debug most problems. Also using show-nets at the ok prompt in the guest domain and make sure that you have the right number of virtual networks.

  • More problems with multiple domains and subaccounts

    I had been creating multiple .mac web sites in earlier versions of IWeb by creating extra “domain” files and dragging them in and out of the folder library/Application Support/IWeb as needed. Now I notice that IWeb 08 lets me store several domain files with different names in a folder, and pick whichever one I want when launching IWeb. That’s good -- but of course, the IWeb “Publish” command wants to publish them all to my same .dot mac web site -- even though I have four .dot mac subaccounts each of which can have its own web site. The only way I could figure out to publish different domain files to different .mac web sites was to create several different user accounts on my computer, assign each one to a different .mac subaccount, launch IWeb, find the domain file for that account, publish it -- then log out, log in to another account, launch IWeb there and do the whole exercise again.
    It would be bad enough if that worked, but it doesn’t: I found that when I logged in to an account other than the one that created a given domain file, I could open that file (I’ve got it stored in a folder on root level of my hard drive), but I couldn’t save it -- I would get the error message: “Couldn’t save file. You don’t have permission to make changes to that file.” So OK, I went into “Get Info” and changed the ownernship/permissions to match the user account I was in. Now I can make changes and save my domain file -- but I can’t publish what I just saved. When I try, to get the message: “Publish Error. An unknown error occurred.”
    Is there any way I make this all work -- to open and save my domain files and publish them to the .dot mac subaccount/web site I want? And is there any way around this whole clunky system that would allow me to publish to different .mac subaccounts/websites more efficiently (preferably logged into my Mac from the same user account)?
    (It may be irrelevant, but in addition to paying for the subaccounts, I bought the family pack version of ILife what should give me legit access from a licensing point of view anyway.)

    That's helpful -- I'll try it. It seems to me it would still be preferable to store my multiple domain files in one hard drive location, easily accessible and offering read and write privileges to any user account. That way I could at least do design work, etc., on any of my domains without logging in and out as various users. Any way to make that work? And really, it seems weird that I can sit at my Mac and mount the IDisks of any of my four .mac sub accounts, open their folders, and look at the web pages previously published to those subaccounts -- but apparently I can't publish any changes to those subaccounts/domains through IWeb without logging out and then back in as a different user. Isn't there some way around these apparent restrictions?

  • New Secondary domain communication issue

    We are currently migrating our GroupWise system from GW8 on Netware to GW14 on SLES11.
    The primary domain has been migrated (using Danita's guide) and I've created a new secondary domain, and Post Office and it's been mostly trouble free (see my previous thread on this forums)
    I've created another secondary domain, and installed a GWIA on it. Everything appears to be working, and it routes e-mail as it should.
    However, there definitely is an issue that is particularly demonstrable when creating a new user.
    Test 1:
    > Connected to PO Domain
    > Create user
    > Check user exists
    > Connect to GWIA Domain - new user does not appear.
    Test 2:
    > Connected to GWIA Domain
    > Create user
    > User appears but greyed out
    > Connect to PO domain - user present and been tested working.
    So it appears that the GWIA Domain is able to communicate out, but isn't receiving comms from other Domains.
    I've quadruple checked the link configuration and the GWIA domain is set to communicate by direct IP (both inbound and outbound) to the other Domains and vice versa.
    I've also checked the permissions on the wpdomain.db file and they appear to be identical to those on the other domains.
    At the moment I can resolve these by running a rebuild on the GWIA domain - which is obviously a bit of a 'nuclear option', and any new users created, moved, etc necessitate another rebuild.
    Any ideas how to troubleshoot further, or anything obvious I've overlooked?
    Thanks in advance.

    This has been a bit of epic SR with Novell, down to being in totally different time zones and having little overlapping work time, but it's fixed.
    I've included all of the fault finding and fix attempts in case these help someone else.
    Fault finding:
    > While connected to the Primary domain I changed the description of a secondary domain that was having the issue.
    > Checking the logs on the secondary domain, we found the message was getting queued to /wpcsout/ads/2
    > Checking this folder I found 678 files - so definitely an issue of admin messages not being processed for some time.
    Fault Fix 1:
    On Secondary domain:
    > delete contents of wpcsout/ads/2
    > rename wpdomain.db on
    > rebuild secondary domain
    As soon as I started the MTA again, a message was immediately created in the wpcsout/ads/2
    In pending operations an entry was listed with a creation date of December - so we'd found our culprit.
    Fault Fix 2
    On Secondary domain:
    > Followed Novell Document ID 7013078
    To paraphrase the document -
    > Stop the MTA, rename wpcsin, wpcsout and mslocal folders
    > restart MTA
    Again, file reappeared immediately in wpcsout/ads/2, and pending operation came back.
    Fault Fix 3
    On Secondary domain:
    > Stop all agents on server
    > rename domain directory
    > create new directory with same name
    > copy wpdomain.db and any .dc files from old domain folder to new.
    > copy wpgate folder from old domain folder to new
    > copy .mta files from old domain folder to new
    > restart agents
    Again, file reappeared immediately in wpcsout/ads/2, and pending operation came back.
    Final Fix
    > Clear any pending operations on the secondary domain, if possible (Ours was clear since it seemed to not be processing any messages any way)
    > copy .dc files from primary domain directory in to the secondary domain directory
    > carry out renames as per doc 7013078
    > Restart secondary Domain MTA
    This fixed it. I've changed the description of a secondary domain, and the change has gone through.
    I have also created a user and it does now appear when connected to all the secondary domains
    Quite why the .dc files gave it the kick it needed our support guy or the backline engineer who was also assisting couldn't explain, but it is apparently something that has been found to fix it.

  • Can GWIA7.02hp1a be upgraded w/o upgrading Domain and GWWEB

    I have a GW7.02hp1a system with several POs, GWWebAccess, GWIA and 2 Domains. All the POs are under the primary domain. The secondary domain is on a different server and it only houses the GWIA and GWWebAccess. I am not at a point where I can upgrade the system as a whole, but I have had problems on and off with mac email getting sent to the GWprob directory because of a filename problem. I have found on this forum that the problem is probably fixed by 7.03 and up. Can I run a patch on the gwi and leave all the rest of the system at 7.02hp1a? Thanks for your help.

    For the most part, yes, but the server that runs GWIA will need to have
    all of its components upgraded. So you'll need to upgrade the
    secondary domain and WebAccess as well.

  • Web Access in secondary Domain creating *.tmp files on root

    I have a Groupwise 7.01 Webaccess server on a secondary domain and am seeing temporary files being created on the root of the sys volume and dump files ie _T-oo960.tmp and CORE0.dmp. Checking the dates shows they are from March May and June I ahd not seen this before and want to delete them.
    Does anyone know why they are being created and how to stop them ?

  • Remove Personal Domain Problem

    Hi. I had a personal domain setup and it was working fine. I recently removed the domain from my .Mac account. iWeb still thinks it is publishing to the domain, and shows the little green indicator light at the bottom with my domain. After it publishes, the Visit Site button tries to load up with my domain and not with the .mac address.
    How can I get it to revert to the .mac address mode?

    I'm pretty good on computers but my dad asked him to help him with a Mac problem so here I am...
    Our good friend has built our website from his computer at his house, me and my dad need to be able to edit the website using iWeb (the same program our friend uses) so we can make appropriate changes...
    We can log into the .Mac the same one that our friend uses but we can't figure out how to actually "load" the work our friend has already done so we can add to it and edit it...
    Any advice is appreciated

  • Sun Java Application Server - Domain and Node agent stop automatically

    Hi,
    We have installed Sun Java Application server 8.1 in a local zone on Solaris 10. The installation was successful.
    A default domain (domain1) was created. We have deployed a sample application too.
    The problem is that the domain and node-agent stop automatically. And need to be restarted from asadmin start-domain command.
    Not sure why this problem is occurring. One solution given in Sun Java System AS 8.1 EE Troubleshooting Guide was to add these 2 lines in the /etc/inittab file to restart the domain and node-agent whenever the system re-boots.
    das:3:respawn:/opt/SUNWappserver/bin/asadmin start-domain user admin passwordfile /opt/SUNWappserver/password.txt domain1
    das:3:respawn:/opt/SUNWappserver/bin/asadmin start-node-agent user admin passwordfile /opt/SUNWappserver/password.txt node-agent-name
    Pls help me if I can change this inittab file from the local zone and if changing this file has any implications on the other zones on Solaris 10.
    Else is there any other way to resolve this problem?
    Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thankyou.

    One thing not clear from the post was,
    * when it is going down automatically.
    * Are you facing the same problem even after starting through the asadmin
    * If so, Post the server.log from "domains/logs" during the starup.
    If you want to bring it up with system reboot, You need to have a startup script for that in init.d and have the links to rc2/3.d.

  • Virtual mail domain and POP problem

    Hi all,
    I am currently on my 7th or 8th install of 10.5 server, so far without managing to make a working mailsetup with virtual domains and virtual users. That is, it works when my customers use an IMAP-client (or webmail via squirrelmail), but it doesn't work when using a POP-client. I have yet to discover the cause of my problems, as the server-logs show perfectly good logins – but unfortunately nothing gets downloaded to the client.
    I currently host 15 domains, which until my purchase of 10.5 server were hosted on a computer running 10.4 client-version with dovecot as mailserver, a custom DNS-setup and various custominstalled supporting apps. On the old client, everything was running smoothly (albeit slowly, due to the old hardware), but as I have stated, on my new server I can't get POP-access to work.
    When I do a fresh install of 10.5 server, I can log in to the accounts on the primary domain with either POP3 or IMAP, but as soon as I set up a virtual domain, POP-access to all accounts ceases to function.
    I suspect Cyrus configuration to be the main culprit, since everything else seems to work as expected, but having no previous experience with cyrus, I have yet to find a solution.
    If anyone has any pointers to a good source of cyrus-IMAP knowledge, I would be very grateful for any help.
    /Lars

    Hi Alex,
    This is really strange, and it's also really bugging me!
    I use OD. If I add several shortnames to a user, fqn and not-fqn, I can only log in with the first shortname and any of the fqn-names. However, only the login using the first shortname recieves any mail.
    I dont know if you have any explanation as to why my setup doesn't include a /etc/postfix/virtual file or a virtualaliasmaps statement in main.cf, which is the only difference in my system that I registered compared to your guide.

  • Problem using secondary database, sequence (and custom tuple binding)

    I get an exception when I try to open a Sequence to a database that has a custom tuple binding and a secondary database. I have a guess what the issue is (below), but it boils down to my custom tuple-binding being invoked when opening the sequence. Here is the exception:

    Here is my code:

    DatabaseConfig urlDBConfig = new DatabaseConfig();
    urlDBConfig.setAllowCreate(true);
    urlDBConfig.setReadOnly(false);
    urlDBConfig.setTransactional(true);
    urlDBConfig.setSortedDuplicates(false); // No sorted duplicates (can't have them with a secondary DB)
    mURLDatabase = mDBEnv.openDatabase(txn, "URLDatabase", urlDBConfig);
    // Reverse URL lookup DB table
    SecondaryConfig secondaryURLDBConfig = new SecondaryConfig();
    secondaryURLDBConfig.setAllowCreate(true);
    secondaryURLDBConfig.setReadOnly(false);
    secondaryURLDBConfig.setTransactional(true);
    TupleBinding urlTupleBinding = DataHelper.instance().createURLTupleBinding();
    SecondaryURLKeyCreator secondaryURLKeyCreator = new SecondaryURLKeyCreator(urlTupleBinding);
    secondaryURLDBConfig.setKeyCreator(secondaryURLKeyCreator);
    mReverseLookpupURLDatabase = mDBEnv.openSecondaryDatabase(txn, "SecondaryURLDatabase", mURLDatabase, secondaryURLDBConfig);
    // Open the URL ID sequence
    SequenceConfig urlIDSequenceConfig = new SequenceConfig();
    urlIDSequenceConfig.setAllowCreate(true);
    urlIDSequenceConfig.setInitialValue(1);
    mURLSequence = mURLDatabase.openSequence(txn, new DatabaseEntry(URLID_SEQUENCE_NAME.getBytes("UTF-8")), urlIDSequenceConfig);
    My secondary key creator class looks like this:
    public class SecondaryURLKeyCreator implements SecondaryKeyCreator {
    // Member variables
    private TupleBinding mTupleBinding; // The tuple binding
    * Constructor.
    public SecondaryURLKeyCreator(TupleBinding iTupleBinding) {
    mTupleBinding = iTupleBinding;
    * Create the secondary key.
    public boolean createSecondaryKey(SecondaryDatabase iSecDB, DatabaseEntry iKeyEntry, DatabaseEntry iDataEntry, DatabaseEntry oResultEntry) {
    try {
    URLData urlData = (URLData)mTupleBinding.entryToObject(iDataEntry);
    String URL = urlData.getURL();
    oResultEntry.setData(URL.getBytes("UTF-8"));
    catch (IOException willNeverOccur) {
    // Success
    return(true);
    I think I understand what is going on, and I only noticed it now because I added more fields to my custom data (and tuple binding):
    com.sleepycat.je.Sequence.java line 139 (version 3.2.44) does this:
    status = cursor.putNoOverwrite(key, makeData());
    makeData creates a byte array of size MAX_DATA_SIZE (50 bytes) -- which has nothing to do with my custom data.
    The trigger causes an call to SecondaryDatable.updateSecondary(...) to the secondary DB.
    updateSecondary calls createSecondaryKey in my SecondaryKeyCreator, which calls entityToObject() in my tuple-binding, which calls TupleInput.readString(), etc to match my custom data. Since what is being read goes for more than the byte array of size 50, I get the exception.
    I didn't notice before because my custom tuple binding used to read fewer that 50 bytes.
    I think the problem is that my tuple binding is being invoked at all at this point -- opening a sequence -- since there is no data on which it can act.

    Hi,
    It looks like you're making a common mistake with sequences which is to store the sequence itself in a database that is also used for application data. The sequence should normally be stored in separate database to prevent configuration conflicts and actual data conflicts between the sequence record and the application records.
    I suggest that you create another database whose only purpose is to hold the sequence record. This database will contain only a single record -- the sequence. If you have more than one sequence, storing all sequences in the same database makes sense and is safe.
    The database used for storing sequences should not normally have any associated secondary databases and should not be configured for duplicates.

    Team,

    Srinivasa K

    Hi Srinivasa,
    I guess, you didn't completed the initial setup schemaprep and adprep before starting the installation. You can do it as follows:
    1. Open command Prompt as administrator and browse to the root of installation cd and run Setup.exe /PrepareSchema /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms
    After finishing this,
    2. Setup.exe /PrepareAD /OrganizationName:"<organization name>" /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms
    3. To prepare all domains within the forest run Setup.exe /PrepareAllDomains /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms. If you want to prepare a specific domain run Setup.exe /PrepareDomain:<FQDN of the domain you want to prepare> /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms
    4. Once you complete all of the 3 steps, install the pre-requisities for Exchange 2013
    5. Finally, run the setup program
    Hope this will help you

  • Problem with Cross-domain SSO, NTLM and ITS to R/3

    Hello,
    We are using EP 6.0.13.0 on a Windows environment.  We have an ITS running WebGUI/ESS/MSS in another domain and that is the same domain where the R/3 and BI systems reside.  We have configured NTLM authentication using IIS web server 6.0 and the IISProxy 1.6.2.  We have configured SSO with the backends using the same ID as in the MS-ADS.  Almost everything works fine.
    The problem is that when we use the NTLM logon VIA the IIS to the portal, and then navigate to a WebGUI service transaction we are prompted for login.  When we refresh the portal screen and try again - it works.
    We have configured the mdc.hosts and are using the sendSAPSSO2Cookie.asp to generate the cross-domain logon ticket.
    I have read that ITS may require the PAS be set up but I thought that was only used when you are going directly to the ITS (leveraging the NTLM authentication) - not when you are going through the portal.
    Does anyone have some experience using ALL of the SSO features (i.e. SSO, cross-domain support, ITS, windows integrated authentication)?
    We have though about the relax option for the domain but it does not apply as our domains are:
    SERVER1.domain1.com and SERVER2.domain2.com
    ... so relaxing would not help unless we relaxed to the ".COM" which is unreasonable.
    My regards,
    Judson Maizels

    Hi JUDSON
    well i'll give one easy solution
    make a alias under host file reside in winnt\system32\drivers\etc directory which has same domain name
    i.e
    SERVER1.domain1.com   server1.mydomain.com
    SERVER2.domain2.com   server2.mydomain.com
    it's works in my schenario we have a same system landscape
    as you

  • Problem removing trial version of LiveCycle Designer in order to install new and input license key

    User installed the trial version and has been using it. Now that we have a license key to enter, they have tried to remove it so they can reinstall and enter the key. They get a mesage that there is a problem with the install and it will not remove it. We have tried to reinstall it. When they do that,  they receive message that the package is corrupt. We have downloaded the package fresh a number of times now.
    How can we remove the trial version so we can get it installed with the key ?
    I set up a second system and installed the trial version. I then removed it with no issue. I used the same package the user has downloaded.

    Please try this utility : http://support.microsoft.com/mats/program_install_and_uninstall/en

  • I removed chrome 10 and newly installed FF4 final, and I can't read PDF files within the browser. There was no problem in Chrome.

    I removed chrome 10 and newly installed FF4 final, and I can't read PDF files within the browser. There was no problem in Chrome. I can't even see the acrobat reader plugin in the plugins page. Acrobat 10 is already installed in my PC. Every time I try to read a PDF file on the web, FF tries to download it instead.

    As recommended above by Bernd Alheit, I posted this on the Adobe Reader forum. There, I received the advice to repair the installation under the help menu, which I did and it fixed the problem.
    Similar to your solution but found it's a fix found under "HELP" menu and not Add/Remove.
    Thank you.
