  • Z87 Mpower SP : BIOS A is dead or can be saved??

    Hi guys,
I accidentally did a failed flashing and caused my board doesn't wanna boot to post but all LEDs, fans on CPU and card are working only blackscreen on monitor and there is no LED show up on Debug LED. I use MSI Z87 Mpower SP with BIOS A (damaged) and BIOS B (working normal).
I already did a recovery way that xmad have said before while I used MSI Z77A-GD80 (dual BIOS) and it was working at that time but now with Z87 Mpower SP (dual BIOS) it won't work, I use MSI HQ Forum USB flasher btw when I did failed flashing I was using M-flash after finished mainboard was turn off it self, then I did CLEAR CMOS ... after that I powered up PC and it turned out to begin flashing ME .
The process with MSI HQ Forum USB flashing Tool is normal but when it is done I do a clear-CMOS and power up PC still debug LED is not showing anything although mainboard is power up (all fans, card, LEDs are on)
So is the BIOS A dead?? Or can be saved?
    Btw I use i5 4430, Gskill ARES 2x4G GBA 2133MHz CL9 1.64v, WD Black 500G SATA3, Corsair HX750 & MSI GTX780 Lightning with windows 7 x64 SP1.
Note : Now I use BIOS V1.6 on BIOS B, before this BIOS A is V1.7 and I wanna tried to downgrade BIOS to V1.5.
One last thing I did flash with 4G USB FD with FAT formatted, is it OK? Next I will try to use FAT32 on my TOSHIBA 16G USB3.0.

You needed special archives to allow fpt flashing, else forum tool won't work.
    >>Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher<<
A.) Download the attached archive and place it on your desktop. Do not decompress.
B.) Download and install the Forum flash tool.
C.) Insert your FAT32 formatted usb stick.
D.) Make sure that all win 8 options are disabled. (Fast Boot etc) Also make sure the legacy USB is enabled.
E.) Start the forum flash tool and select option 1. Then point the tool at the compressed archive we downloaded earlier. Then to your USB Flash Drive.
F.) Boot to the USB from working bios B.
G.) Once it booted successfully switch to bios A without powering down or rebooting
H.) Now follow the directions and let the tool flash bios A with desired version

  • ClickBiosII will not run - SCEWIN_64 has stopped working

I've been up and running for about two weeks on a new motherboard that I recently installed (info below).  Everything was working fine and I had the ClickBiosII running and was working fine.  I just installed the MSI LiveUpdate 5 and it reported that there was a new Bios download available which has a fix for a Windows 8 issue (which I'm running on Windows 8) so I decided to do the update.  Once the update completed (which appeared to complete successfully and rebooted the computer) then my ClickBiosII will no longer start.  All it does is display a message at start up reporting:
    SCEWIN_64 has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
I've uninstalled it (totally cleared out it's installation directory), reinstalled it back with the original one from my setup disk, still failed.
Uninstalled it again and used LiveUpdate5 to download and install the latest one and it still fails.
When I do try to run it and it fails, the Task Manager for Apps, shows:  ClickBIOS_Loading (32 bit)
And there is a Background Process of:  MSI CLICK BIOS II (32 bit)
I have to kill both of these before I can even attempt to try to run it again.
WHY isn't it working any more just with a Bios update???
    System Info,
    Board: MSI H77MA-G43
Bios: Version 1.90  (previously it was 1.8 before I updated it to 1.90)
    VGA:   NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
PSU:   (I have no idea what this is??)
    Intel Core i5-3570, 3.4 GHZ, 6MB Cache, LGA1155, 77W
    MEM: G.Skill DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 4x4gb F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM
    HDD: SanDisk 256gb SSD
    COOLER: CPU stock fan/heatsink
    OC: N/A
OS: Windows 8 64bit Professional with Media Center

The MSI register site really sucks!!  I usually don't get very frustrated at company sites much but the MSI site stinks.  I've gone in and created an account, but there is no way to register my product.  Every link I click on there displays a Message with only one button on it "Back to Member Center" which the screen automatically goes back to the previous window on it's own.
I've tried the Technical Support link and I get a "This page can't be displayed" message.
So I can't get to any support from MSI itself.  I wish I had known this before I purchased this mother board!

  • SERVICE PRODUCT RETURN

Hi, i had my motherboard for repair and i got the following e-mail. from :
    <contact Email address removed>
Your warranty products has been processed by MSI Rma department and dispatched back to you.
Please contact MSI Rma Department if you have not receipt the repaired warranty product within 7days.
There have passed 10 days and i havent received yet the repaired product. But i dont know how to contact the MSI Rma Department.
    Is there an email?

    Hi,
You can either reply to the email you have tried to post here (I guess it was removed by one of the mods) or here:
    >>How to contact MSI.<<  "Contact Us" is the last choice, find your country (or country card was sent to) and either use email if it's there or call them.

  • 655 max overclock

can someone tell me the maximum of 655 max can overclock?

Okay, after *extensive* testing, I think I've figured out what the problem is. If I put a DIMM in banks 1 or 2 (or both) it won't POST. I can fill banks 3 and 4 and it works perfectly, though not in dual channel mode.
It doesn't matter what RAM I put in and this wasn't obvious at first. I was simply trying to t-shoot by using a single stick in bank 1.
While I can live, for now, with only 2 banks filled, this isn't the advertised product I purchased two months ago. I sent in an RMA request yesterday. How dependable is the RMA process at MSI? How long does it normally take?

  • K9N2 SLI Platinum Install,2 Problems, Resolved..

I upgraded to a K9N2 SLI Platinum With 9550 Quad Core.
I used a Copy of WinXp from a Thunderbird CPU System.
    1. Boot failure at second test ( memory ) Green light flashing. I thought it was a memory failure.
Read install instructions," need spacers" on mounting screws ( ?, I thought board needed to be grounded to case).
Installed non conductive spacers ( top $ Bottom ).   Fixed Boot problem....
        Board Booted to system Install.
    2. Next , repair WinXp with Install CD, (repair option after Install selected )
system Repair completed " Almost" bombed out at " lan,
Could not call MS on LAN, no LAN installed on repair process,
evidently MSI Lan not in MS Hardware table....
Installed PCI Lan, MS recognized LAN,  talked to mother and completed  repair of WINXP.
Cleaned up system with " CCleaner exe "
System working, Alls well, All old programs and Data retained....
SO< Suggest MSI  provide a way to access lan on boot.... and ship Motherboard install screws/spacers...

You don't choose Repair actually. You let Windows find the previous installation. It will ask you there for a repair /rhyme!/. Here is a description:
Boot the computer using the XP CD. You may need to change the boot order in the system BIOS so the CD boots before the hard drive. Check your system documentation for steps to access the BIOS and change the boot order.
When you see the "Welcome To Setup" screen, you will see the options below
This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft
Windows XP to run on your computer:
To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER.
To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.
To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.
Press Enter to start the Windows Setup.  do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press  R", (you Do Not want to load Recovery Console). I repeat, do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press  R".
Accept the License Agreement and Windows will search for existing Windows installations.
Select the XP installation you want to repair from the list and press R to start the repair.
Setup will copy the necessary files to the hard drive and reboot.  Do not press any key to boot from CD when the message appears. Setup will continue as if it were doing a clean install, but your applications and settings will remain intact.
You will not loose personal files, but you will loose Windows Update history.

  • Help: K8N Neo2 Cap Burnt

    Hello,
I had a K8N Neo2 which I purchased late last year.  It had been working fine until a few months ago.  One day, upon power-up, smoke started coming from the case.  I turned off the power and inspected the board.  It turns out that what I believe was a capacitor burnt itself completely.  The capacitor was located directly beneath the CoreCell chip.  I needed to get the computer back up ASAP so I purchased another board from another brand.  I started the RMA process with MSI and sent the board in.
I received an e-mail response from MSI stating that there was physical damage to the board, with an arrow pointing to the blackened area, and it was not eligible for RMA.  Is this normal?  I replied explaining that the computer had not been moved and in fact the case had not been opened since installation.  I also mentioned that all other components survived and are working fine in the new motherboard.  So I guess what I want to know is (1) Am I screwed? and (2) Has this happened to anyone else who got a replacement board?
Thanks in advance for all replies and advice.

The question is did the physical damage occur before or after the capacitor failure and there is no way of knowing that, have you got some pictures to show us?
I haven't heard of any common failures with the capacitors on the neo2 - if it was such a widespread problem i guess we would have heard about it by now..

  • Is my MB bad?

Well I think my P67A-GD55 (B3) MB is bad but I want to check here first before I start the RMA process or start looking for a new board.
Here are the symptoms that lead me to believe the mb is bad.  When I insert my GTX 460 into the top pci-e slot(the blue one)I get random black screens, reboots, lost signal to monitor, or the driver crashes in Windows.  It does all of these things or does them individually.
When I insert my GTX460 into the bottom pci-e slot the system starts normally and and I get no crashes, black screens, or reboots.
Things I've done to try and trouble shoot the problem.
1.Flashed to the latest BIOS(4.3)and updated ME to 8.  Cleared CMOS.
    2.Ran memtest86.  Received no errors.
3.Tested power supply.  Voltage is stable and within specs.
    4.Re-installed Windows 7-64bit
    5.PULLED my hair out!
So any suggestions to try before I start the RMA process with MSI?  Any help or insight would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Well that stinks....I got this card for $60 from Fry's.  No way can I get a card even close in performance for that price not even in the used market.  It's even the 2GB model.....mmmm
Thanks for the suggestions and insight guys.  Everytime I come here I always get an honest answer even if it's one I don't want to hear.
That's why I keep coming back.
    Take care

  • MSI Afterburner (K Button Starting Process But Not Opening Program)

I just updated MSI Afterburner to version 2.3.1. and Kombustor to version 2.5.2. The issue I am having is with the K button in Afterburner. Before I updated to 2.3.1 it opened up Kombustor when clicked. Now when I click the button the system works for a second but Kombustor doesn't open, however a process named kombustor opens in the task manager. Each time I click the K another version of kombustor opens in task manager, but no windows open. I can open up Kombustor 2.5.2 by itself, and when I do open it the process in task manager is the same .exe as the one that opens through Afterburner, but this time a window opens?
Any idea on how to get Afterburner's K button to properly open Kombustor?

That version is totally outdated. Uninstall it and Kombustor. Now reinstall 3.0.0 Beta 15

  • MOVED: RMA Process for my board MSI NEO2

This topic has been moved to Anything Under The Sun.
RMA Process for my board MSI NEO2

The first guy I spoke with trying to find out the status on my RMA did have a firm grasp on the english language - so I trust when he said, and I quote, "The testing department found nothing wrong with your board, so we're sending it back (to you)."
The second gentleman I spoke with a week later trying to find out where my board was didn't have english quite mastered fluently, but was able to give me the information I needed.
Generally though - what I usually understand (doing RMA's for a company myself) is that if someone RMA's something, you generally ship out a REPLACEMENT anyway, so this may be the case.  I sure hope so.
This has been quite a puzzling experience from day one anyway.

  • MSI megastick 528 Update process!

    Hi all!!!!
I just buy a megastick 528, wich cames with firmware version: 003.000.002
I would like to update it, but i've some quests....
I read the process explained in the manual and in the msi support page but...
I don't understand well how to make the process right...
This is what i understand. pls if someone can correct me, i will appreciate  it!
1)Download form msi page the latest firmware and drivers (I've downloaded file: MS5528FW_v1.00.13.zip)
2)Unzip it to c:\Program files\MSI\MSI-5528\.. (OK, but i must erase all the other files in this directory first?)
3)Remove the batteries from the player
4)Press the power switch and hold it down at the same time i insert the player in the usb port? (When i can release the switch?) (Should appear a message like "new hadware found"?) (then it will install a driver or ask for one?)
5)Go to start - all programs - MSI MS-5528 MEGA STICK - Update
6)Choose if i desire to format or not the 528, and then click start.
I've read in another posts that there should be different version's of the firmware, depending on serial number, but if this is true, how can i know which fw to choose?
The last: I really don't know if the player have already installed the last fw, can u tell me?
Sorry for my english, it's not my native language!!!Thank's in advance!!!!!

i understand from a previous posting that there was a revision to the MegaStick 528, so you needed to check the serial number before updating firmware in order to obtain the correct version
due to confusion being caused, MSI removed the newer firmware from the site. it was the same as that which is already in your MS528, so you have no need to update

  • CD-DRIVE copying process is extremely slow on windows 7 professional 64 bit (on MSI workstation)

I am trying to copy files from a DVD disc (some 3 GB of data) using the CD-ROM
on this laptop. The transfer speed is EXTREMELY LOW! It starts with almost 3.5
MB/sec at first, but then after 10 seconds or so, it gets down to 500 KB/sec!
The transfer was going to take approximately 6 hours, which is a lot for a
     laptop with specs like mine.
I tried to copy the same DVD to another
laptop, which had much lower specs than my MSI, the approximated time was 10
     minutes.
I tried to update CD-ROM but it told me that it was up to
     date.
    My computer specs:
Name: MSI WorkStation Series GT60 2OKWS-674US
     OS: Windows 7 Professional
     64 bit
CPU: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7-4800MQ
     Hard drive: 1 TB 7200
     RPM, 128 GB Solid-State Drive
Graphics: NVIDIA Quadro K3100 with 4 GB
     DDR3 VRAM
     Hard disk description: SATA
     Optical Storage Device: BD
     Burner
     Cache Memory installed size: 6.0
I tried many solutions searched on Google, but none of them worked! One of them was to disable "Remote Differential Compression" but it did not work at all. I tried to use 3rd party programs such as Teracopy but no improvement.
Please help guys as i'm desperate and this problem is getting on my nerves.

    UPDATE:
I noticed that the copying speed is ok until this error is encountered (attached)
after I click "Skip" the speed reduces dramatically to about 300kb/s and never changed

  • IEAK IE9 msi - Can not find command line to make install process passive with a reboot prompt

hey all, this seems to be something simple and I can not get it to work the way intended.   I want IE9 installer to install passively and then prompt for reboot, that's it.
I have tried using the switches for the standard exe from Microsoft but nothing allows for passive and prompt for reboot
I have now also downloaded and used IEAK and then created msi installs and selected the passive and prompt for reboot options which does not make the installer do that actual behavior by default.
So I have now actually began trying various commands with the IEAK msi files, none of which are making the behavior I desire happen, passive with prompt for reboot.
Can anyone suggest a proper command line for this?
I have essentially tried these on the different installers I have built, and sometimes entered the /passive on full installers:
    msiexec.exe filename /promptrestart
    msiexec.exe filename REBOOTPROMPT=""

    Hi,
I am afraid when using /passive options together, there would be no promote when installing.
See the instruction for /passive here:
The installer displays a progress bar to the user that indicates that an installation is in progress but no prompts or error messages are displayed to the user. The user cannot cancel the installation. Use the
/norestart or /forcerestart standard command-line options to control reboots.
If no reboot option is specified, the installer restarts the computer whenever necessary
without displaying any prompt or warning to the user.
Based on my unserstanding, when using this command option, we can only choose restart or not with the
    /norestart or /forcerestart standard command-line options
If /passive is in use, then the promote would be expected not to work. So if we would like to force install IE, then we might better schedule the install time or restart out of the work hours.
    Best regards
