Processing workflow reject on first step

Hi all,
May i know how to process reject code when workflow reject happens on the very first step.
I understood that if happens on the second step, we should process the reject code on the entry event of the first step, but may i know how it happens on the first step?

Review/Edit Revision, or Review/New Revision types of workflow steps provides an option, but not necessity to modify the content (the current, or a new revision). Therefore, yes, it is possible to have a Review/Edit Revision step with zero reviewers. It will forward processing the next step (note that you could define Entry, Update, or Exit event scripts for this step, so a "zero reviewers" step can serve as a fork).
On the other hand, it is not possible to jump to a Review step after rejection. From whatever reason it follows the design that rejection expects the content item to be changed, which cannot be done in a Review step. Another (IMHO illogical) design aspect of REJECT is that it does not execute the Exit event.
Having asked the first question, yes, you could place an arbitrary zero reviewers Review/Edit Revision step in front of a Review step to achieve that REJECT returns to the Review step (it will return the the Review/Edit Revision, but follow immediately to Review).

Human task as first step of a BPEL process

Hello every one, thanks in advice for your replays,
My version is Oracle BPEL Process Manager 10.1.3.1.0. I've tried the search but didn't find satisfying answer.
First I will try to describe use case I'm trying to solve using BPEL and standard bundled Worklist App.
I have defined a fairly straight human-centric process witch should be initiated by human data entry or (XOR) by input message (WS call) from third party application. I've read the documentation but haven't find any way how to define BPEL human task that will instantiate the process. In other words is it possible to create human task with form and use this task/form as an process initiator in Worklist App ?
I'm aware that i can create an external form (not BPEL human task form) witch can be embedded in Worklist App and call the engine JAVA API. But this is no the case since i will have to manage the two independent components of my single business process - keeping them in sync.
I don't think that initiating a process an then picking the first step from a queue to entry form data is elegant ant efficient solution (maybe my view is influenced by other BPM product i was working with).
Also since it is a micro project i cant afford writing my own Worklist App with dynamic form binding.
So friends please help with your ideas and solution's

Standard BPEL process is usually initiated by client HTTP/SOAP call which passes initial set of data to process (i.e Oracle BPEL Console Dashbord Post XML Message functionality, or some third party application WS call with process data). Oracle BPEL Console generates form based on BPEL Process WSDL, thats great for ad hoc testing but i need bit more.
I' would like to have a functionality that will dosimilar stuff as Console but in a worklist application further more I would like to have a way to define the form of this firs step and have that definition with my BPEL process project in JDeveloper.
Business case for such need is as follows:
+ Greenfield process area
+ No application supporting those processes
+ No know other rigger then phone call or fax

Execution interrupted msg in workflow first step

Hi all,
Am getting a Message (in the message text tab) in workflow log (detail section). The very first step of workflow is an activity to "instantiate employee" details. Its been used in mostly all workflows. It was working fine in development. But now in quality, everyone workflow is in "ready" state at first step and in the msg tab, am getting a msg stated : "Execution interrupted". Could anyone tell me what could be the reason for the same?

First Step in Workflow Verification

Hi,
I did the workflow configuration by using SWU3 successfully. For initial testing, i did Start Verification Workflow and i got the intial workitme in my SAP inbox. The i selected First step in Workflow Verification in my SAP inbox, but in the next sceen it was not displaying the Use Decision Steps (Immediatley and Later). It was showing blank screen. This is happening for all workflows (selected standard workflows for testing purpose). Initial workitem is displaying in my SAP inbox abd after executing nothing is displaying in the second screen. My understanding is becuase of authorization to execute the work item.
If any one faces the same problem, please share with me.

Standard Program - It will go to another user. it wont come to you.

Workflow stuck at the very first step

this is the very first workflow created in the client
are there any standard background jobs that should be started for the workflow to proceed ?

hi,
as venugopal suggested, check whether the event was triggered and then check whether the WF has actually started or not. you can check this using transaction SWEL or SWI1.
if the event was triggered but WF hasnt started then you might not have activated the event linkage. this can be done in the "basic data" of the WF in the "start events" tab.
Since you have mentioned that "The workflow is started and its stuck at the first step", probably the WF has started.
can you specify the error message that you are getting?
what is the fisrt step in your WF?
give some details.

Workflows error on any step using a rule but then re-start ok via SWPR

Hi all,
I have transported some workflows from SAP 4.6C (where they work ok) to SAP ECC 6.0 where I'm having the following problem -
All the workflows go into error at the first step they encounter which uses a rule in the agent assignment.
The workflows can all be restarted and complete successfully when they are re-started via SWPR.
Any suggestions on how to fix this ?

The problem only occurs when I create the object (e.g. invoice) under a particular username. I was always re-starting via SWPR under another username which completed the workflow successfully so I think the problem is just to do with authorisations. I will look into this some more.

TimeSheet Approval Process workflow

Hi All,
Please let me know how time sheet standard behavior of approval workflow.
I ran the timesheet approval process, I found in the event trace, the following business objects are showing for the process.
When employee requests for a timesheet approval, there is no workflow triggered ( no receiver in the SWEL), it is showing BO IDOCPACKET and event MASSINPUTFINISHED and when approval approves the request it is triggered the workflow (receiver is WORKITEM) single step type.
Please clarify me on
1. Why IDOCPACKET is triggered?
2. Why ATTENDENCE is triggered?
3. whenever a time sheet request is created by user, approver will get notifications, where these configurations have been maintained?
4. When approver approves/rejects the request, initiator will get the notifications, where these configurations have been maintained?

1 and 2) Are you sure that IDOCPACKET and ATTENDENCE have anything to do with CATS? I don't believe so. The time stamps of these events most probably don't event match with your CATS release and/or approval.
If you need to set up some kind of approval process workflow, if I remember correctly it is configured here: SPRO > Cross Application Components > Time Sheet > Specific setting for CATS Regular > CATS Regular > Set up data entry profile.

How to create workflow Rejection Handler

Hi Experts,
In workflow, how shall I create Rejection Handler.
In case of Rejection, I want to update some meta data.... and jump the workflow to first step ...
Generally in case rejection , worklow always jumps to previous step.
Please help me achieving these two (meta data update and jump to first step in workflow ( no matter which step has rejection action)).

here's how I would go about doing this...
in the entry event of EACH step I would write a code snippet that did this
1) check for wfAction of reject
2) if found, update the metadata values
3) then jump to the first step in the workflow
The code might look like this:

of course you can also include additional functions to send a special message like:

But the lines above are the only ones you need to route the workflow accordingly.
There are several things to remember:
1) rejections happen immediately. That means that you have to look for their existence in the entry event of the step they roll back INTO.
2) if you're using wfUpdateMetaData it will only work on custom metadata fields (i.e. those prefixed with a lower case "x")
3) if you need to update a standard metadata field like dSecurity group or dAccount or dDocTitle etc you'll need to write a custom component for that or buy one from someone (yes, we have them if you're interested - see our Workflow Solution Set here: http://bit.ly/95Rocu).
4) if you expect multiple kinds of rejections or need different kinds of actions for different kinds of rejections then you'll need some more conditions in your IF statements.

Hide Save Draft Button in the first step

I have requirement to remove Save Draft in the first step of HCM P&F. But I can not find how to hide or remove save draft in the first step.

We had the same issue on my most recent project. From the INITIAL step....ie. start the process....you can not (at this time) hide/disable that feature/button. As said above, it CAN be done in steps after that simply by setting the workflow binding on the parameter. Not sure how/why SAP missed the need for this. I would think it would be a "checkbox" of sort in your "Process Start" configuration in the Design Time....but nope.
In our case, we wanted to allow it for manager initiated processes, but not for employee initiated ones. Therefore, we set up a "check" on the workflow task that creates the "draft" work item to "trash" the ones from ESS and properly handle the ones coming from MSS. It was....interesting. haha We also changed the default "save as draft" message that shows so the users would know what had happened (ie. not supported in ESS).
Hopefully this becomes a config setting in coming EhPs.

How to skip first step in a FPM roadmap?

Hello, Our client wants the first step disabled/not displayed in a standard roadmap that has been delivered with the software. The standard roadmap uses component FPM_GAF_COMPONENT and consists of 4 steps (and is based on an application config and component config). They want to directly display the second step with certain values in the second screen pre-populated from a custom application (the second screen would in normaly flow be populated from first screen). So I have two tasks:
1) disable first screen/step
2) populate second screen/step with data from custom application
This is my first exposure to FPM and roadmaps. I tried deleting the first step from the component configuration and making the current 3 step process into a 3 step process, but this does not work and did not seem to be the way to go. On looking around I see some documentation for methods HIDE_MAINSTEP to be used thru IF_FPM_GAF interface, but am not sure where to implement this interface or what code to use in the method.
Can anyone provide step by step suggestions and examples of codes please?

I was able to get to the HIDE_MAINSTEP method. However, when I try to hide step 1, which is my requirement, there is a short dump. If I hide step 2 or 3 out of the 4 step process, the sequence of screens is showing up appropriately. However, when I hide step 1, there seems to be some problem in mehod WDDOMODIFYVIEW of view CNR_VIEW of component FPM_GAF_COMPONENT where in a loop for the first loop pass, even though step 1 is hidden, the code is trying to access the road_map_step element which is not instantiated. We have opened a note for this issue.

IPhone freezes in first step of sync

It crashed some days ago, I did a hard reboot but it was sluguish and would not go beyond the first step of sync, or when much, go into step 2 and then loop back to step one. I resetted the thing but the problem continues. I got my contacts in it yet, but all else, apps, music, photos were lost and I cannot reinstall the apps I already own.

Make sure you have the following steps in order in your process chain.
1.Start Process Variant.
2.Delete Indexes step.
3.Load data.
4.Create Indexes.
5.Roll up (if required)
6.Compression(if required)
7.Completion job.
8.PSA deletion(if required)
I process chain should allways start with a start Process variant step.

In HCM form & process Workflow event linkage changed to inactive status.

Hi,
In HCM form & process event linkage is activated in HRASR_DT and workflow object .
Now once we complete the process from EP portal ,reference number is generated and enteries are created in table T5ASRPROCESSES .
In SWEL,event is triggered and linked with the same workflow.
Now the problem is,thesre is no workitem in SWIA with this workflow numbmer and the event linkage also changed to inactive status ( both in proces and workflow )after we complete the process from EP.

When you are delaing workflows with HCM Process and form the behaviour is slightly different from the normal.. In order to check why the event linkage is inactive the possibilities are
1. Either there are some chnages done in the workflow and it is not activated from the transaction HRASR_DT.
2. The other possibility is that you might have directly actovated the workflow from SWDD transaction and if you have done in this way then it is a wrong way of generating and activating the workflow
Follow the below steps to find the error
1. Execute HRASR_DT txn and try to activate the workflow from here. If you try to activate the workflow from this transaction the check function module which is linked to the workflow will be knowing that for which specific process which workflow has to be triggered..
so in HCM process and forms frame workf it is always suggestable that try to create the workflow from HRASR_DT transaction using forward navigation and activate the respective event linkages.
The other point you need to check is make sure that all the respective program exit classesare included in the basic data of the workflow other wise even if you miss the program exit classes in the basic data the workflow will not be able to start its process/execution.

PAL to NTSC... the VERY FIRST step to get off of disc?

I've got a PAL disc, and I need to transfer the movie to NTSC. Looked through the discussions and can follow the tutorial, but what is the very first step I should take to get the contents of the disc onto my desktop? Should I drag out the Audio_TS and Video_TS folders, or create a quicktime movie on desktop?

The recommendation is always to make another ID for use with a paid books account. And while I can't swear this is at the root of your issue, you should in any case reach out to Apple for assistance on this one, I think.
