Production planning and control

Dear Experts,
I have some doubt in my mind can you all help me out to resolve my issue.
i am in production dept of our company and our company have 3rd party location to whom our purchase dept arrange the
RM,PM and Labels. We get the material packed through this 3rd party and provide them packing charges on per units basis and
and afterward packing they offer the FG to our QC person  for checking and after checking our QC person give the FG UD
if FG was found ok.
Generally our 3rd party location make the production order, release it, issue it, GR it and do confirmation. That is overall
SAP related activities are been handled by our 3rd party location.
So kindly confirm me that how can we control our 3rd party production activites from our end.
What is the correct system, i mean who should release the production order we or our 3rd party, who should issue the material we or 3rd party,
who should GR and do confirmation we or 3rd party.
Please provide me the best solution for controlling this 3rd party location.
Thanks in advance have a nice day.

Hi,
which kind of production U have? MTO or MTS?
I think is better U leave at the 3rd party the autonomy to do all SAP actions. U can monitor in any case what is going on there via COHV, COGI and so on. In any case I would suggest that U release the Production order and then the 3rd can proceed, in this way U can plan the activity to them till the GR on the Production Order. Then later U can post the godd issue and send a shipping notification to the 3rd party.
I hope it helps,
Cheers,
Mik

  • Unable to create a production plan and schedule on SAP B1

    Hi,
    I've been trying to figure out how to use SAP B1 to give me a production plan and schedule for quite some time now.... I have no problem in accessing my pending orders. There seems to be no option in my production tab to enter resource information! Would be great if you could possibly tell me how to figure this out.

    Hi,
    Without capturing the actual time of production orders, it is not possible to perform scheduling. You may create planned production order by based on theoretical time.
    Only third party add-on fulfill your requirement.

  • Is Yosemite compatible with Kodak production planning and workflow software like Prinergy Workflow?

    Is the new OS 10.10 system compatible with Kodak production planning and workflow software? like Prinergy Workflow (incl. the Workshop and Workspace user interfaces as well as the ColorFlow and Preps Client) and Prinergy Evo Client,

    Steven,
    Thank you for your quick reply and information there in. The video is very nice too. Great angles and composition.
    So I guess, I'm going to have swap my drive and re-install my OS when the machine arrives.
    I'm not going to be able to capture directly to my desktop (due to poratability reasons). So is there I way in Premire CS3 to uncompress the HDV from the camera and store it in my HDD in uncompressed format? I don't mind having to do this extra step each time if the post production experience is going to be better.
    I've heard a lot about Aspect HD from you and others here as well as other forums. I'm not very video savvy yet and don't understand a lot of the vocabulary used :). I've been to their website and don't get what their products are supposed to give me either (I guess their audience understands exactly what they are saying).
    What I do get is it decompresses the MPEG 2 to saves it to yout HDD for editing purposes. However, I would have thought the Premier Pro CS3 would have that capability as part of the product, no?
    I'd also like to use footage that is not HDV as well as photos/images (composits) but still retain the final cut to be HDV quality. Is this possible and if so, what does it do to the editing experience/performance?
    Will I be able to output the final cut back to my camera's Mini DV tape (without having to buy Aspect HD)?

  • Product hierarchy and controlling ....

    Can any one tell me what is a prodcut heirarchy and how it is related to Controlling ( specially with COPA and Product costing). If the product heirarchy is changed, what are the things need to be adjusted in configuration for COPA and Product costing. I would appreciate step by step and trxn codes in your explanation.
    Thanks
    Points will be rewarded.

    Hello,
    Product hierarchies are the domain of materials management. A product hierarchy is assigned to the material master record. This hierarchy is broken down into specific levels, each level containing its own characteristics.A product hierarchy is recorded by the sequence of digits within a hierarchy number. This hierarchy number may have a maximum of 18 digits with a maximum of 9 levels. The custom Product hierarchies can be maintained in V/76. However, for complete help on your requirement, you may post it in MM Forum.

    With 28 individuals in-house Instrument schedules, a Mission schedule, and 7 external vendors schedules residing on our Local Share Drive network, we have pushed the limits of the External Link Functionality of the MS Project Professional desktop version.
    We are currently constaint to follow one of two options:
    2) Work on the Network Share Drive:
    MS Project crashes due to sheer volume of data (16GB of RAM)
    Very long lead time for the complete IMS to open from share drive.
    Limited productivity as only 1 individual can be in the live file at one time, locking other out.
    2) Work on Local desktop copies
    All files must be copied locally, as slack will not calculate properly unless all file comprising the IMS are on same local macjhine
    Requires a large amount of a coordinated effort to ensure all schedule updates/changes are not lost by overwriting updated files with obsolete files.

    Charles,
    I don't see a question here but it sounds like you need to switch to Project Server.
    Several things are of significant concern with your existing setup. You are using a linked structure. You have multiple users accessing the files, The files are on a network drive. You mention copying files. You mention overwriting files. The worst things
    you can do with a linked structure in Project are, rename, move, overwrite, save off any files in the structure to another location, and work on a network drive. Those all lead to corruption, not if, but when.
    If for some reason Project Server is out of the question, then I suggest you take steps to eliminate each of the items noted above.

  • Product planning and backing data to users computer

    Hi, I'm learning to program on the mac and have a quick question that has popped into my head. One of the most important features in having software on the iPhone is a strong back-up process of the users data. I am struggling with different types of solutions including:
    1) Creating a mac desktop client application that syncs back and forth with the iPhone (like Omnifocus does)
    2) Creating a back-up process that just backs-up to mobile me (like some other applications)
    3) Creating a back-up process that just stores a back-up file on the users computer
    4) Doing step one and also producing a duplicate window's client as well
    I really want to support iPhone users that use windows as well as mac (so I'm not limiting myself). I guess the question I have is how hard is it to port over a Mac desktop client (built with NSObjects stuff) to windows. I'm thinking it is impossible unless it is developed with pure C/C++ (because apple specific objects and such won't port).
    So I think I have answered my own question with "hire a windows developer" to develop out the windows desktop client when it gets to that point.
    Anyone have any feedback on how they have creatively worked through this problem?

    What particular and otherwise mutable iPhone data, beyond this list spec'd by Apple, are you specifically considering as part of a procedurally strong backup/sync session?
    iTunes will backup the following information:
    iPhone OS 1.1 and greater
    * Safari bookmarks, cookies, history, and currently open pages
    * Map bookmarks, recent searches, and the current location displayed in Maps
    * Application settings, preferences, and data
    * Address Book and Address Book favorites
    * Calendar data
    * Wallpapers
    * Notes
    * Call history
    * Mail accounts
    * YouTube bookmarks
    * SMS messages
    * Saved suggestion corrections (these are saved automatically as you reject
    suggested corrections)
    * Camera roll (photos and screen shots taken by the iPhone)
    * Voicemail token (this is not the Voicemail password, but is used for
    validation when connecting. This is only restored to a phone with the same
    phone number on the SIM card.)
    * Web clips
    * Network settings (saved wifi spots, VPN settings, network preferences)
    * Paired Bluetooth devices (which can only be used if restored to the same
    phone that did the backup)
    * Keychain (this includes email account passwords, Wi-Fi passwords, and
    passwords you enter into websites and some other applications. The keychain can
    only be restored from backup to the same iPhone or iPod touch. If you are
    restoring to a new device, you will need to fill in these passwords again.)
    With iPhone 2.0 and later
    * Managed Configurations/Profiles
    * List of External Sync Sources (Mobile Me, Exchange ActiveSync)
    * Microsoft Exchange account configurations
    * Nike+iPod saved workouts and settings
    * App Store Application data (except the Application itself, its tmp and Caches folder).

  • How to Reconcile Production Planning & Controling Data

    Dear Experts,
    Currently we are implementing the below Production Planning & and Controlling  cubes.
    1. Capacity Load Utilization (0PP_C13)
    2. Plan/Actual Comparison Operation/Work Center View (0PP_C03)
    We have updated the data in C13 and cube and doing the reconcile with standard reports.
    In R/3 which T codes are usefull for C13 and C03 cube data reconciliation.

  • Product Hirarchy and allocation(Very Urgent  yaar)

    R Product hierarchy and product allocation linked in any way to each other.
    whats the diffrence if answer is no and how if yes.
    What do u mean by both of them (I Wanna expalin them to a client)
    Rgds

    1)  Product Hierarchy
    The product hierarchy is used to group materials by combining different features. It is used for analyses and pricing. A product hierarchy can consist of up to eighteen characters. Its features can be combined in various ways.
    2)  Product Allocation
    A precise planning and controlling mechanism is of the utmost importance for the execution of competitive order processing with guaranteed efficient and timely delivery to the customer of the required order quantity. Unforseen problems, such as production deficits or increased demand can have critical consequences for order processing and must be brought under control as soon as possible.
    Product allocation is a function provided by the R/3 system for carrying out these control options intended to help your company to avoid critical requirement and procurement situations. This should enable you to keep production to a minimum at the same time as allowing you to react quickly to bottlenecks and changing market situations.
    In the R/3 system, product allocations represent an ordered allocation of production for certain periods. Product allocations can be created according to various criteria (i.e., customer, regions).

  • Daily production plan in manufacturing shop floor

    Hi, we want to generate 2 different weekly production plans based on 1) roh available 2)customer delivery date. pls advise how to generate same.

    Hi
    There is no planning method in SAP based on raw materials. if you know how much finished product can be made out of one raw material then you can use SOP and create a prodcution plan as inactive version.
    For customer delivery date, if you know the cumulative requirements then place this quantity in SOP as the sales plan with delivery dates and create synchronous production plan and save it as another inactive version.
    Once you take a decision on which version to be used you can copy the version to a active version and transfer to demand managment and run mrp which creates planned orders.
    Make sure you use backward scheduling in the material master
    Thanks

  • Control of serial numbers in productions (parts and final product serials)

    Hi,
    We are starting using our production module in SBO 9.0 PL11 and it is all quite messy.
    We need to manufacture an item that has a serial number made of parts, some of which have serial numbers. Just imagine a car. The car will have its own serial number, but the engine, the radio and so on will have their own serial numbers. But the cables, tyres, etc do not have  a serial of their own.
    We set a BOM model, made of every part (with or without serial) and set every line to manual.
    Then we place a PO for our parts, and then do a Goods Receipt and enter the individual items' serials.
    Then, we issue a Production order for our final product made of all of our parts in the BOM. Then we release it for production.
    Next, it all gets messi. If we create a receipt from production, we can issue the serial number of each of our final products.
    If we create an Issue for Production, we can choose what serials to pick for production.
    Big problem is that we loose all traceability. There is no way (or we can't find it) to know what are the serials of the parts that created the final product.
    Not only this, issue for production looks (serial number transaction report-wise) looks like a goods issue, so just a way to decrease your parts stock. And receipt of production looks like a goods receipt. So you just now you received something for production or that you issued it to production, but there doesn't seem to be a link between them. No traceability at all.
    Can anyone throw some light into this? I am sure we are doing something really wrong, but can't see what.

    Hi,
    1. But how do we control what serial numbers for each part we used to create the final product specific serial? (I use engine #003 and radio #376) to create product with serial #076. And we always produce in quantities greater than 1.
    Please provide an sample process production with FG item and components with required serial format to check
    2. This query is not returning any rows. I am inputing a final product code, with production orders, and nothing shows up.
    As mentioned, the above query works for batch managed items. Once we conclude process, I can try modify above query to meet your purpose.
    3. It sounds really complicated to have to open both receipt and issue to track a single manufacturing operation.
    You can use relationship map option to view both issue and receipt for single production.
    4. Besides that, what is the exact workflow? I don't quite understand issue and receipt, should I run both independently?
    Standard work flow for production order:
    1. Create bill of material
    2. Create planned production order based on above BOM
    3. Make sure required components are arrived.
    4. Change planned to released status.
    5. Issue components to production by issue production
    6. Receive finished item from production through receipt from production.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Nagarajan

  • What parameters determine Planned order production start and end dates?

    Greetings
    We are using the graphical planning table @ MF50 to firm Planned Orders (Basically checking off "Firm Order" field within the Planned Order). We are on ECC 6.0
    Whenever I backflush, the production start and end dates get overwritten (The Basic dates do not change).
    I would like to prevent this. Can someone advise me on what parameter controls how the production start and end dates getting changed?
    Thank you
    Hanarin

    Hi,
    Calculating production dates ( Lead time scheduling) are explained in detail in the SAP help URL as below:
    If "Automatci Scheduling indicator" is set in the customizing for scheduling parameters then after every change relevant to scheduling, the production order is also automatically rescheduled before saving.
    You need to check these settings.
    regards

  • Difference between COPC planning and cost object controlling

    I want to know why do we have to calculate the cost of a manufactured product by both COPC planning and Cost object controlling by order?
    Will the cost of a manufactured product be different in COPC planning method and cost object controlling method?
    if we use only cost object controlling to calculaute the cost of a manufactured product without using COPC planning wht will be the implications?

    Raja,
    Yes the cost can be different. The cost calculating thorught Product Cost Planning may be static, you calculate it by period it is more for planning prupose ans to set standard. The cost calculated through Cost Object Controlling is resulting from your actual transactions, and the are few variables that could increase or decrease the cost of product. For example the overhead cost (Increase of salaries) can directly affect your activity rate at the work center and impact cost of your product when the production order is complete. You need both costs (Cost Planning and Cost Object releated) so at the end of the period you can calculate variance betweeen your plan cost and your actual costs.
    Hope this clarifies your doubts.
