Programmatically Attach a Document To a SAP Document

Hi Experts,
We would like to be able to automatically attach supporting documentation to a SAP document via our SAP content server so that the user do not have to open SAP. Is there any BAPI or RFC that would help us do that? If not, how would you approach this?
Thanks
Martin

There are more than one ways to do this.
You can use, BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2 & pass following parameters to it:
DOCUMENTYPE
DOCUMENTNUMBER
DOCUMENTVERSION
DOCUMENTPART
USERNAME
STATUSEXTERN
STATUSINTERN
CADINDICATOR
CREATEDATE
Please refer Problem with BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2 for more details
Other way of achieving this is, use LSMW
I hope this is useful for you.

  • Attach external documents to SAP

    Hi
we are planning to attach external documents to purchase order in ME22N screen. & every month 10gb files
I would like to know the below points
do we have any limitation for attachment?
what potential risks are involved using this functionality?
Will the transactions/SAP performance be impacted?
when do we need to go for DMS?
    Thanks
    Raju

A DMS record points to a content server on which resides the attached document. If you wish not to use DMS, then attaching documents at PO will take some time, given the size of you attachments. I do not believe the performance will take a major hit, there should not be major problems with that. You can always assess the performance by attaching big size document with POs in your Development and Quality systems.
DMS is a centralized content management solution provided by SAP. It offers to store various kinds of documents such as drawings, designs, commercial/technical specifications, equipment specifications, etc. there is not a set formula as when to opt for DMS and when to not. You may explore the features of SAP DMS and if the business finds it a value addition, you can use it.

  • Attach a document in the Goods Reception

    Hi experts!
Do you know if it possible to attach a document in the goods reception (MIGO)? I have the version 6.0 of SAP and I don't see any possible button to make an attachment (as in the purchase order Me21n).
    Thank you in advance

    Hi Madiii,
You can use tab at upperleft corner naming SERVICES FOR OBJECT here you can attach docuements you want.
    Or
Better to go for Document Management System.
Here whatever attached docuement with large memory is saved in Content server.
So whenever you want that docuement you can extract it for content server.
Also benefit of DMS is it decreases load on your existing SAP server.
    Thanks and regards

  • Requirement: Attach scanned document (PDF) to a batch

    Hi All,
The client has the requirement to attach the scanned document (PDF) to a specific batch for documentation and legal audit purpose. Is this possible in SAP?
I did some research, but I could not find any place in MSC2N (batch) to attach the document. I know that it is possible to attach the document in Material Master and BOM but not in batch.
The option that I am considering is to create a batch characteristics to house the SAP document number. Then we would have to create some custom program where-in user can search batch info and simply click on the link for document number and see the scanned document.
Please help to provide some suggestions on this requirement.
    Regards,
    Swapnil

I found the config (t-code:ODOC) by which we can activate document management for batches.

  • When trying to attach a document, a dump file is created and SBO crashes.

    Good day all,
When a user try to attach a document, using the Browse Button, SBO crashes and creates a dump file. The same happens when "manager" tries to attach a file from that PC. From other PC's there is no problem. We can access the attachments folder from that PC. The path also points through the server, (through the network), and not to C drive.
Does somebody maybe have a solution? SAP 2007A SP01 PL05.
    Kind regards

    Hi Carin ,
Have you assinged the proper path to the Attachment Folder in the " Path Tab "
of  Administration --> System Initialization  --> General Settings .
If the path is assinged to some network place and not working .
Then once try to assing some local machine path and then try the same ..
If the problem solve with local path  .. then there may be some problem with the network .
    Hope it Helps
    Thanks
