Progressive Workflow

Hello DVDSP folk,
I'm working on a project that uses still photos as the only visual content, most of these are historic black and white. Wondering if I can take advantage of this and work towards a progressive scan DVD as the final out put.
Project is being edited in Final Cut 5, OS 10.4.3, playback through a ED and HD ready LCD monitor.
I'm wondering what the proper workflow should be to work towards this end. FCP settings? Output from the editing timeline options? DVDSP options ?
Any suggestions appreciated,
Thanks,
Drew

If you work with a 23.98 progressive fps sequence in FCP, you can export through compressor and that would create progressive MPEG2 video which DVD Studio Pro would support. Do a search in SP's manual about 24 fps or 23.98 fps or progressive... something like that.

  • Missing workflow history link of "In Progress" workflow!!!

I recently get complaint from customer that they lost their "In Progress" workflow history link on documents.
I searched on internet and found that "Workflow Auto Clean" job will remove only "Completed" workflow link for document.
So Why SharePoint has removed workflow history link of "In Progress" workflow? and now any work around to get it back because there are approx. 100 document's which running workflow history is missing.

The issue is caused when migrating from 2010 to 2013. Microsoft’s upgrade process seems to have missed an update required to the Workflow History list, and the following powershell fixes it, with the key being the .SystemUpdate($false) on each item in the workflow
    history list:
$url = 'http://mysite/myweb' #todo: update powershell to loop through all sites
    $site = new-object microsoft.sharepoint.spsite($url);
    Write-Host $site.allwebs.count
    $web=$site.OpenWeb();
    $spListColl = $web.Lists
    foreach($list in $spListColl)
    if($list.Title -eq "Workflow History")
    foreach ($listItem in $list.Items)
    $listItem.SystemUpdate($false)
    Write-Host "Updating Items Done"

  • AQ messages will not progress workflow

    Hi all,
I am running WF 2.6.2 on an oracle 9.0.1.1 database on a windows 2000 server machine.
We have messages being enqueued onto the WF_INBOUND_QUEUE, which instead of being processed seem to "disappear" the messages do not end up on the WF_INBOUND_QUEUE_E error queue, and I have tried posting invalid messages to the queue which end up there. These messages trigger the workflow to execute an external activity, and the problem only seems to happen intermittantly.
If the message is re sent to the queue, the external activity will execute.
does anybody know what would cause this, or has anybody experienced a similar problem?
Does anybody know how to monitor the queues more agressivley so that we can track down just where these "disappearing" messages go?
    Thanks

  • Will updated workflow affects previous items in list?

    Hi All,
I have list form associate with list workflow and contains more than 10 items where workflow status for all is in In-progress.
Once i update current workflow, will affect previous 10 items or not?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to know whether it would affect the existed in-progress workflow if updated the workflow action.
It would no effect when you updated the action if the workflow had been executed.
When you start the workflow, the workflow had been executed, when you publish a new version workflow, it would has no effect for the started workflow.
It only work for the items which executed the workflow after publishing the new version workflow.
If you stop the workflow for the in-progress items, then you restart the workflow, it would start the updated workflow.

  • Problems with "Author once" workflow, can't transcode HDV to BD and DVD

Adobe claims that with Encore CS3 you can
"author once, deliver to three formats" -- Blu-ray, DVD and Flash. I have been doing some research and testing, but have not been able to get it to work.
It seems as though Encore is not capable of taking HDV 1080i60 footage and transcoding it for both Blu-ray and DVD. The Blu-ray looks great, but the downconverted transcode for DVD is completely unusable.
Link to screen shot of HDV to DVD transcode. (Note: this is a frame at 100%, so the "comb teeth" really are that big.)
I have seen some pretty pathetic downconversions from HDV to DV resolution, but this is the most creatively useless one I've come across so far.
I have been able to use Dynamic Link to get an almost acceptable "author once" workflow from HDV footage. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a way to get Encore or After Effects to render fields for the DVD transcode, so fast-moving graphic elements and text have jerky/strobing motion.
FYI, I got Dynamic Link working well for non-fast clips by doing the following:
Make sure that "Separate Fields" was set to "Upper" in "Interpret Footage" for the HDV clip.
Set the clip's frame blending mode to "Frame Mix" ("Pixel Motion" works, just take longer).
Enable Frame Blending for the comp.
(Enable Motion Blur for the comp if any layers are using Motion Blur).
If only there were a button to enable field rendering for the comp along with Frame Blending and Motion Blur, as both of those options directly affect how the Dynamic Link renders/transcodes in Encore.
I noticed that without Frame Blending enabled for both the clip and the comp, the motion in the transcode was very jerky, even though the clip had not been time stretched/remapped.
Does anyone know of some way to get the mythical "author once" workflow to work? Perhaps it's only for progressive workflows and not interlaced? Could this be a Mac-related problem (I have not been able to test on Windows)?
I know I can downconvert first, then import into Encore, and that does work fine, but that completely negates the wonderful concept of "author once".
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

    Ruud,
Gspot showed there was a problem with the file. What it said was of the 130K frames, most were not needed. I went back to the editor and reconstructed the 130K file. Had problems trying to export to M2v. PPro 2.0 would freeze every time, sometimes in a few minutes, sometimes just short of completing, approx 2 hours(this was a 2 pass vbr setup). I experienced problems just trying to make an AVI file for importing into Encore 2.0. A lot of water has gone under the bridge since I first started this journey(over 300 hours). My first shot at elation occurred when I decided to try an m2v at vbr 1 pass instead of 2 pass. It worked. I say this because of late I have successfully made an Avi file, Imported the timeline and in fact satisfactorily made an m2v file (2 pass). The m2v was also brought into Encore 2.0. Though I have 4 HD's, it seems to me that as I am moving toward a successful product, I'm finding that I've located all my assets on one HD. Is this the way to go? I'd like to thank the alert for using Gspot. And I will, always. I believe that if I had used Gspot earlier I would not have been trying to fix the problem using a bad asset.
I've been able to make an iso file, though having trouble making a playable disc.

  • SQL Query to retrieve the Workflow Status in MSPS 2010 PWA

I need to determine the status of stages within a workflow for "incomplete". What DB/Table or Views are required to get this information by project?

    Hi Tom
You can get all data from Reporting Database, from MSP_EpmWorkflowStatusInformation table,
If you want to get what is the actual Stage, you can use some query like this
      SELECT     D.ProjectName, B.PhaseName, A.StageName,
     D.ProjectUID
    FROM         MSP_EpmWorkflowStage A INNER JOIN
                          MSP_EpmWorkflowPhase B ON A.PhaseUID = B.PhaseUID INNER JOIN
                          MSP_EpmWorkflowStatusInformation C ON A.StageUID = C.StageUID INNER JOIN
                          MSP_EpmProject_UserView D ON C.ProjectUID = D.ProjectUID
                          where C.StageStatus=1
For each state you have to replace in the query  value for StageStatus  field, take a look to this table MSP_EpmWorkflowStatusType
All values are there for any status
    StageStatusID LCID

  • Workflow Enhancements

We use HCM F&P and everything works well in the Production system.
We plan to make some enhancements to the Form like 1) Changes in Layout, 2) New Fields, 3) Changes in Workflow routing
We plan to introduce new container variables which will change workflow routing after the changes are done.
When we plan to release to the production system, what will happen to active workflows in the system?
(workflow which are not completed with old layout or does not have the variables set?)
What is the best way to minimize the impact to existing / work in progress workflows?

Sorry, I was fuzzy. My at work English does not translate well to decaf English. Many distractions. My apologies if I offended or sounded argumentative.
End result, we are "meaning" the same thing.
Let me re-explain my meaning to all,
SAP's WF Versions are misleading. What I meant by not a actual 'version' in prod, it creates a new version "number" in prod any time it gets transported to prod, regardless of versioning in dev. Period. But the version numbers probably won't match match up over time. i.e. ver 8 in dev may not match ver 8 in prod. You can't look at ver 8 in dev and expect ver 8 in prod to be same change.
If you DO create a new version in dev and transport it to prod, any inProcess WFs will maintain old template through completion.
If you DO NOT create a new version in dev and transport it to prod, any inProcess WFs will be a mix of old / new template.(i.e. mangled unusable mess sometimes).
Tasks of same number, overwritten regardless of version. Versioning "template" won't version Tasks.
Subflows? I don't recall. I suspect they would be treated like a Task.
All this is all verifiable by creating a test template in dev (or sand box). Create with a bunch of forks, tasks, conditions, outcomes, etc. Save. Create a bunch of WF instances at various states of completion. Then make modification to the template and see how it affects the running WFs and new WFs. Simple.
Create MANY test WFs in dev and Q and I know EXACTLY what it is going to do before it gets to prod. Personally, I like my weekends!
Again, apologies for any misunderstanding and length of this post. This is a very important concept WF'ers need to fully understand (and test) if you have complicated or mission critical processes.

  • Workflow approval new Instance

I wan to create new instance of workflow on existing libaray , and want to remove current instance
what will happen to in progress workflow after removing current instance , will those will be continue working as expected?
    Thanks,

If you completly remove your workflow instance it will remove everything in progress / old data of workflows associated to your list / library.
You should take precautionary steps before removing all your old workflow instances.
If you are publishing a modified version of your custom workflow, it would be better to leave the existing workflow instance as it is.  Usually newly published workflow will be the current running instances, and other instance will be hydrated. You
can choose to change that in the workflow configuration page.
    Hope this helps!

  • Reminder Workflow does not recalculate new date to send email, if due date is changed

I created a basic reminder workflow using due date, and status column. it works well.
Let's say, I want to send a reminder email 2 days prior to the due date.
I used Add -2 to due date and set a variable
    then used Pause variable
if status is not equal to completed
    then send email
And I have this set to initiate when a new item is created, and modified.
However, if the due date is changed, it does not recalculate the new date to send the reminder email.  Help!

    Hi MonalisaM,
The in-progress workflow instance will be unable to re-start itself when list item is modified, but I think you can design workflow with using the second workflow to update the list item one filed, then this update triggers
    the first workflow again.
Stop this reminder workflow (first workflow) when due date is changed, then this will trigger the second workflow to change another custom column(e.g. Flag), then the first workflow will be triggered due to this custom column
Flag value changed by second workflow, I mean the second workflow is used to upadate this custom list item one filed(e.g. Flag) in order to trigger the reminder workflow(first workflow).
You can read the following article for more information to understand how to make the first workflow re-start by using second workflow.

  • Can we perform Progress Order option from Order Header level?

    Hi,
Can any one let me know about the basic functionality of Progress Order and on which scenario we can apply this option and also please clarify me the below doubt.
    Our Functionality as follows:
    1. Once the Order is booked then Credit Hold is applied against to the Order at the Order Header Level
    2. We are releasing the Hold from Actions tab
    3. Now we are placing the cursor at each Line Level and Progressing the Order using the Progress Order Option to fulfill and close the Sales Order lines.
Now what my doubt is Credit Hold is applied at Order level but we are performing the Progress Order option from Level. When I try to user the same option from Order Header level system is showing the following error message “APP-ONT-251015: There are no eligible activities to be completed. There is at least one deferred or externally notifiedactivity in this workflow. Please see the workflow monitor or status window for more information” because of this I am using progress order option for each line.
I want Progress Order option to applicable for entire Order so that I can fulfill and close all Lines at one time.
What is the best way to Progress Order for entire Order instead of selecting each line to Progress the Order.
    Please share your views.
    Regards,
    Kevin.

    Hi Kevin,
I am not quite sure if I understood your issue correctly but if you are using R12, there is a check box available called "Progress Workflow" on Holds definition, which will progress the entire order.

  • SP10-full permission level failing in workflow, is there a solution?

In the beginning of the year, SP10 was installed to replace SP07. In an out of the box workflow the usual actions by a user with Design permissions is being tagged with Error: Access Denied. The action she is trying to accomplish is:
She had to make an update in a document being used in the workflow as an order form by other departments. She makes the change, saves the document and the work flow launches. The workflow is in “In Progress”. In order to terminate the workflow
to reset to cancel, she clicks on In Progress, in the next window she clicks on Terminate this workflow now. (It is done this way to avoid losing the history of the document.) This process used to allow her to terminate but now she receives Error: Access Denied.
We have found a work around which is to simply approve the document under tasks rather than terminate. Is this the more correct action to stop the In Progress workflow or is termination more correct and now there is a glitch in the termination process?

    Hi ,
Was SP10 migrated from SP07? database attached approach?
Have you tested this issue using other user's account with highter permission(e.g. site administrator)?
Please check the ULS log for getting more related details when you cancel/terminate this workflow, then check if it provides any useful infomation (may lack particular permission) about this issue.
Please see more about cheking ULS log from the below articles.

  • Progress Order

    Hi All,
Currently user are releasing the lines which are on HOLD and then pressing the PROGRESS ORDER from the Actions menu. New requirement is as soon as user releases the hold then line should automatically progress.
I have written an AFTER UPDATE TRIGGER on OE_ORDER_HOLDS_ALL and calling the following API.
wf_engine.completeactivity('OEOL', to_char(:new.line_id), 'SCHEDULING_ELIGIBLE', null); to pogress the order but
It gives me ERROR "You Can not progress the line, Line is on HOLD"
I am wondering how to accomplish this.
    Thanks
    john

Hmm, in that case I think the news is not good, John as I suspect a custom solution is going to be tougher than you think. But try looking at the base bug / ER for this known issue: Bug 1373910: PROGRESS WORKFLOW ON HOLD RELEASE
As I mentioned earlier, this has been fixed in 12.1.1. These are the two relevant hold behaviour changes described in the release notes:
Progress Workflow on Hold Release : After you release all order and order line or return and return line holds, that order or return becomes available for any subsequent workflow steps. If you release a hold source, the hold is automatically released for all appropriate orders, returns, or their lines. You can choose to progress the workflow or not, with the help of the Progress Workflow box on the Holds definition window and on the Release Holds window.
Enhanced Workflow Activity Hold : With the existing Holds functionality in Order Management, a workflow activity hold gets applied to all open records, irrespective of the current workflow status. For instance, a picking activity hold gets applied on the record even if it has already passed the picking activity. With this change, the hold gets applied only on valid records, which have either not reached that specific workflow activity or the records status is not Complete.
We had the same issue a while back with particular reference to dropshipped CTO lines (see Note 756199.1) and also considered a custom fix but from what I remember the fundamental problem is with the workflow architecture prior to R12.

  • (urgent) Position Hierarchy and PO approval...

    Hi,
We have re-engineered the current Position and Job Flexfield set-up, basically an additional segment in the Position FF and hiding a segment in Job FF. Adn the employee will be assigned to a one level high in the organization. So basically, employee will be assigned to a new org as well.
Due to the changes, all employees will be moved to a new position. Now since client is utilizing the Position Hierarchy, I would like to know if we
need to approved all the outstanding PO that requires approval, before moving the employees to the new assignment?
If we dont do that, will there be any implications or will it cause any problems moving forward.
Another question is, is it necessary to approved all the PO before changing all the employee assignment???
Your response will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks..

PO Approval workflow is highly sensitive to changes while workflows are in progress. Remember workflow is versioned, so if you make changes to the workflow itself, then in progress workflows will still execute using the workflow definition at the time it started. Changing the user name is one no-no while that user has a PO Approval related to them in progress.
However saying that, its tough to answer your question without knowing more detail of the changes. If the original approval related data structures remain in place and you haven't changed the workflow definition, then the in process workflows may be okay to complete assuming the new positions the employees are moved to still allow the "Find Approver" function to execute correctly... not sure about the organization part...
As always, try it out in your test environment!
    Regards,
    Gareth

  • What is frame rate with 1920x1080/60p?

I'm currently shooting and editing HD 1920x1080/60i (interlaced format, 29.97 frames/sec).  To reduce motion artifacts, I'm considering a change in my workflow to HD 1920x1080/60p (progressive format), but first I must update my understanding of this newer format.  Question 1: What is the frame rate for this format, 30 or 60 frames/sec?  If the answer is 30 frames/sec, why is it called 60p?  Question 2:  How many complete scans (combining odd and even lines) are produced per frame?  Question 3:  Would a Master File exported from Final Cut Pro X (by default, a QuickTime movie file) be progressive or interlaced?  Question 4:  Would iDVD v.08 accept a progressive movie file for making standard DVDs?
Your answers to these questions are very much appreciated.

Thank you, Tom Wolsky and Karsten Schlüter, for your fast replies!
Tom, regarding my Question 4:  Are you sure that the latest version of iDVD can accept progressive 1920x1080 QuickTime movie files at 59.94 frames/sec?  As you may know, iDVD is no longer supported by Apple, and their Technical Support is unable to answer my question.  I respect your experience in this area and would like you to advise me in my proposed switch to a progressive workflow.  I can't afford to shoot in a format that will not allow me to make standard DVDs.
    Best regards from Interlacer.
