Proper Syntax using UDF in FMS

I am sure this is a quick question.
I need to use a User Defined FIeld that is in the Marketing Document Header in a Formated Search
to be used in the Marketing Doument Details
The formated search I created will capture the data if I assigne it to another UDF in the Document header
example: Select $[$U_ODEPT.0.0] attached to a field in the UDF header section will give me the proper result.
When I attach the same FMS to a field in the Market Documet Details I get an internal error 3006
Any sugetions as to what I am doing wrong the syntax in my formatted search?

1. To get detail information about the cause of the problem you should run the formatted search query manually while the window referring to the formatted search is open. Remember - do not save the query run in this way.
2. Also please check that the refresh regularly field is not checked at row level- it is better to use auto refresh when exiting an altered row column.
3. Further, the syntax is either $[$Field Index.Field Column.Number/Currency/Date/0] or $[Tablename.Fieldname]. Try using the Field Index number of U_ODepartment instead of the the field name i your query.
Try these three solutions - you may solve the error.

Let's assume column XYZ has both numbers (1), and letters (any alphabet).
I have a case statement on SQL to turn any value that's not 1 into 0, then I am getting a sum of that column.
I am also grouping by Row A, B etc to get aggregated sum of column XYZ for those group.
Now on Crystal Reports function, I need to sum up values under column XYZ for all the groups.
If I try using sum function like below, I get an error stating:
"A number field or currency amount field is required here"
(sum({Command.XYZ}))
So I thought if I can use a case statement to change the non-numbers to 0 prior to sum that will probably resolve it. But I could not get the below case statement to work either (Error: A string is required).
SELECT {Command.XYZ}
   Case 1:
      1
   Default:
      0;

Quick one for you:
Let's say that I have several columns in a table with names such as subject_1, subject_2, subject_3, etc. The table's name is subject_names.
The number in each of the three column name examples is also a value passed along a query string, the user can select choices, 1, 2 or 3. That query string's variable is $qs.
So, what I want is a SELECT query that uses the query string value as follows (KEEP IN MIND, I know this is not the proper syntax):
"SELECT subject_[$qs]
FROM subject_names";
I have tried all sorts of cominations of quotes (single and double), dots, brackets, braces and parenthesis. I just want to know how to include such a variable within this code.
Any and all help is sincerely appreciated!

Well, I did give you the syntax though.
$query = 'SELECT ' . $qs . ' FROM tbl_name';
I put spaces between the periods this time to make it more clear.
If you put the actual word 'subject' in there and just want your form to name it's options as the numbers available you could do this:
$query = 'SELECT subject_' . $qs . ' FROM tbl_name';
In PHP you can use either single or double quotes around your query string, I always just use single quotes. I see a lot of other use double quotes.
Double quotes would look like:
$query = "SELECT subject_' . $qs . ' FROM tbl_name";
Or when using double quotes you can actually just place the variable right in the string without having to concatenate multiple strings like above.
Since you mentioned that you are good with passing variables I probably don't have to mention that you need to set the value attribute of your option tags (if you are using a select) to the value you want them to pass.
Ex:
<select name="choices">
     <option value="1">1</option>
     <option value="2">2</option>
     <option value="3">3</option>
</select>
If you have that part all figured out then you can use the syntax above for your query string.

Error while using UDF in 2007b

Hi,
i recently upgraded from 2005b to 2007b
when i am using manager login to enter some UDF values
in excise invoice there is no problem
but when i am using any other login and clicking on
view>> user defined fields
it is giving an internal error and SAP window is closing
i have to login again.
i have checked the authorisations etc. no problem there
as it was working fine in 2005b
can you all help me with this

If all super users can use UDF without problem, chances are your authorization setting may have problem. Use one non super user to test by giving the user most of full right to see.

In mapping, i mapped the field from "Filename" to message type tag(receiver file header) "/ns0:MTxxxxxxDataFile". between there two fields i am using the following udf for dynamic configuration. but i got error after testing with test data in mapping that is also mentioned below.

Hi Sai,
First of all, this UDF is pretty well knaown so there is no error in this UDF or your configuration for this UDF. I can suggest you something that at the time of configuration in IR, give a context object for that particular field of that file and then use the contect object name everywhere to refer that field. and also check the message type config for correction for my sake.
There is also a possibility that of the input data. i guess you are sending the input file from Cognos and you making the file and putting some where in XI directory and want these to process something and generate with some new desired filename. Check the input because i guess its finding NOTHINg as an Input. check once again.

Performance problem in Mapping Designer using UDF with external imports

Hello,
we do have a big performance problem in developing (not in execution) graphical Mappings as far as we use "user defined functions" (UDF) with include-entries referencing to jar files which are imported as "imported archives".
For example the execution of invice mapping with a little bit bigger test file in the Mapping designer:
- after opening, not in change mod: 6 seconds
- after switching to change mod: 37 seconds (that's clear, now everything is compiled first)
- after adding "com.seeburger.functions.permstore.CounterFactory;" into the "import" field of one UDF, no other change: 227 seconds
- after saving and submiting the changlist (no longer in change mode): 6 seconds
- after switching to change mode: 227 seconds
So execution speed of testing (and also when watching queues) only increases in changemod more then three minutes when using UDF with imports, referencing to external JAR files. It doesn't depend on Seeburger functions (we are using XI also for EDIFACT, so we also use some Seeburger functions), I can reproduce it with any other JAR file which is used from a UDF.
Using java included functions like "java.text.NumberFormat;" in "Import" doesn't slow down the testing.
Can anybody reproduce this? We are using XI 3.0 SP19 on a AIX machine, so we also have to use the Java version from IBM.

File to file transfer using UDF

i am doing one scenario,file tofile transfer using UDF.
I will write one UDF which will read the whole content from text file and write to the target path.Ok.so i am mentioning both sender and reciver URL in UDF.is this the correct way.
then if am writing URL in UDF then is it again need to create communication channel for both.
and how i will do mapping using UDF..plz let me know weather my concept is correct or not

You can do this with out UDF and through File--File Simple Scenario
What is your Typical requirement to use the UDF here.
If there is no Specific UDF Requirement means , we can follow Normal Scenario to pick the file from One place and to place it at another folder

Proper syntax when binding a boolean to a view node

What is the proper syntax for binding a nodes visability (or any variable that can be bound) to a boolean variable.
There are three choices, tell me which of the fallowing is proper.

Yes it seams that the problem was not with my bind of the content. The error was actually occuring when running in browser mode. At start up the program was throwing an odd exception. Showing in the stack trace were traces of Node and boolean.
The error was being thrown when I had Control.TextBox as my default input focus.
After changing the TextBox to a SingExtension.TextField the error went away.
I will try to reproduce the error and post in a seperate thread.

Proper Syntax -- Src-Addr Filter IPS Signature Tuning

Anyone know what the proper syntax to define Src and Dest addresses within a Signature? I am trying to define the default Private IP ranges as src addresses in signature 3030 and keep getting errors regarding the syntax.
I have tried ip/netmask and defining the netmask as 255.255.0.0 and so on.
