    We have a question with regard to Publications with Web Intelligence reports in XI 3.1.
    We would like to know if it's possible to put the "profile value" (or something equivalent) in the name of the output document?
    For example, we want to deliver 3 versions of a WebI report to 3 user profiles:
    - 1 user profile can see all countries
    - 1 user profile can only see region X
    - 1 user profile can only see region Y
    Name of the output document going to the destination should have an indication for which profile value it ran, output name should contain eg.:
    - All
    - Region_X
    - Region_Y
    There are several placeholders that can be used in the "Use a specific name" option of the destination:
    Title (SI_NAME)
    ID (SI_ID)
    Owner (SI_OWNER)
    DateTime (SI_STARTTIME)
    Email address (SI_EMAIL_ADDRESS)
    Userfullname (SI_USERFULLNAME)
    Viewer hyperlink (SI_VIEWER_URL)
    DocumentName (SI_DOCUMENT_NAME)
    ReportHTML content (SI_DOCUMENT_HTML_CONTENT)
    None of these seem to help us for our purposes.
    Is there a way we can get the above functionality? Can placeholders be add somehow? eg. with the name of the group used in the profile values

    Thanks for the feedback!
    No, we weren't intending on using dynamic recipients. We intended to use profiles. However, dyn recipients will do if we can get it to work that way.
    Did you by any chance implement or test this?
    Reason for asking: we had kind of the same idea. We did a small test (we just replaced the email address or full name in the dyn rec Excel with region X, etc...). Result we got was: all 3 file names contained the user who ran the publication and its email address (coming from the users credentials in the BO repo). Not the desired result.
    We used a file server as destination.

  • Importing from FrameMaker

    I'm planning on creating a help system from existing
    FrameMaker files. I've read the RH help file for advice, but the
    final output still doesn't look right. In particular, RoboHelp
    messes up bullited and numbered lists. The #s aren't wrong, but the
    spacing and alignment are off. Any advice on importing FrameMaker
    documents into RH5/6 would greatly be appreciated. I don't want to
    have to convert to Word.
    Also, I saw an Adobe webpage that mentions Adobe is planning
    better integration between its technical publication software -
    i.e. FrameMaker. Does anyone have any further information on this?
    I'd love to see better FrameMaker support distributed in a RH
    update.

    For what it is worth, I am a fan of NuGen, I have both SEQ 1 and 2 and two stereo enhancing tools (stereoizer and stereoplacer I think they're called). Since I have the SEQ 1 it replaces all Channel EQ's. And the stereotools sound great and very lush, in stead of the more usual cheezy combfilterthingies that pass for stereo enhancing tools.
    And I actually like the interfaces. Simple, but stylish, functional and ergonomic (in this case meaning you can see all parameters in a quick glance, no guessing at settings).

  • Help With Creating 'Hi-Res' PDF Document?

    I am needing to meet a deadline tomorrow in supplying a magazine publication with a trade advert for my business.
    The magazine editor tells me he requires my advert to be emailed to him in 'HI-RES PDF FORMAT, 300 DPI'.
    Currently, my advert is a simple MICROSOFT WORD document, which is printed out for flyers etc. It is acceptable quality for my needs. I have very little knowledge at this point of making my advert into 'HI-RES PDF'.
    However, I do have access to ADOBE ACROBAT V9.0 PRO EXTENDED, and understand I can use this to create the document that is required?
    My main questions at this point are, where do I begin researching how to turn my current WORD document into the '300 DPI HI-RES' picture that is required? What is the process involved? How do I go about 'creating a hi-res picture' from my humble Word document?
    What I don't understand at the moment is, the difference between me emailing the magazine my Word document in its current .doc form, and needing to involve Adobe Acrobat to achieve 'best quality' HI-RES/300 DPI. Do I need to make my Word document into PDF to improve its quality?
    Totally new to this, would greatly appreciate any help/advice.

    I wish I had more time to spend getting up to speed on these issues, unfortunately the deadline looms tomorrow [new business, urgent last minute advertising and all that]. I expect to have a genuine hi-res advert ready for next month's issue - in the meanime, Aandi, how would you recommend I best go about things from what I have, or can modify/recreate fairly quickly?

    OK, my advert in Word is mostly black text on a white background, and there is a colour picture in it [to help illustrate my services]. So the picture is not 300dpi hi-res, I accept that, and I accept it will not be printed in the magazine necessarily any better than I can manage from my inkjet printer.
    But considering the magazine is a glossy, hi-res publication, surely the picture will not be printed in any WORSE quality than I can get out of my cheap £80 printer? If I know what to expect, I know how I can play around with the current lo-res images I have at my disposal.
    There are a number of options I currently have to replace the picture in my advert, and some have a deliberately 'hazy' look to them already - I am thinking perhaps pictures with this kind of styling which are far from 300 DPI anyway would be a better choice? At least in the printing reproduction, the degrasion would not look like a cheap 'error' but rather simply the style of the picture?
    And what about my Word TEXT? Forgetting pictures for the moment, will the all important text parts of my advert reproduce as good as I can get them in 'best' quality from my printer?
    What I am aiming for this evening, is once I have decided upon the kind of lo-res picture [if any] I am including in my advert, allowing for degrasion because it is not 300 DPI, can I then concentrate on the TEXT information and still work on this within MICROSOFT WORD before submitting it to Adobe Acrobat and producing the PDF document? I do not have to do anything special to the text at any point to make it 'high resolution'?

  • Publication failing in BO XI 3.1

    I have a publication containing a crystal report based on BW query.  I personalised the Crystal report with Profile values.  Every one has full access to run that crystal report and full access to profile values.  I am able to run that crystal report manually without any issue.
    Its giving me the following error message in 3.1, but running fine in 3.0.

  • Crystal Reports Publication fails when using dynamic recipients

    Hi experts,
    We are facing a problem related with the BOE 3.1 Dynamic recipients Publication.
    We have created a Publication with just one Crystal Report based on a MDX Query.  We send the report in PDF format to email destinations
    Dynamic recipients are defined in a WebI report pulling data from a BW query universe. We can display the email, user ID, Use Name and other fields we would like to use as dynamic parameters.
    Server side trust seems to be configured (is there any way to test it is properly configured?).
    The Publication is working fine with enterprise recipients (which have SAP BW account), and each recipient receive its PDF by email.
    When we execute same report with dynamic recipients without selecting dynamic personalization parameters it is working fine. But when we select one dynamic parameter (which is coming from the WebI report we use for dynamic recipients) eg: Profit Centre, the Publication fails and we get a Database Connector error:

    Ino, what do you mean for "technical name or the member unique name"? Are you talking about the SAP User name? So in the dynamic recipients we can find  these parameters:
    - Recipient Identifier (required):      
    - Full Name:      
    - Email:      
    In the Recipient Identifier I should refer to a SAP user?
    Dynamic recipients option is working for same recipients. The problem appears when I assign one parameter to a field coming from the dynamic webi report.It fails with the previously detailed error. This parameter assignment seems to be causing the Database Connector error.

    You can-not merge the two pdfs in publication by default. It might be possible through SDK.
    You can look for some 3rd party tool for the same feature.

  • Publication Failed - EDIT_QUERY feature is not supported

    We have configured server-side trust and are able to successfully create publications for users with "Developer" access, but when any other "standard" users are added to the Enterprise Recipients list, the publication fails for that user with the following message:
    ERROR [PublishingService:HandlerPool-80] BusinessObjects_PublicationAdminErrorLog_Instance_496257 - [Publication ID # 496257] - Scheduling document job "TestReport" (ID: 496,285) failed: EDIT_QUERY feature is not supported. (Error: RWI 00850) Scheduling document 'TestReport' (ID: 496,285) failed for the following users: BIP~015/TESTUSER (ID: 80667) . These users had the following profile values: [No profile values] (FBE60502) [1 recipients processed.]
    When I add the test user to the "Developers" group, it works.  However, if the user is not in that group, but I have given it developer access to the Folder/Report, Webi (Application), and InfoView, and the publication fails.  It seems like the user needs additional access in some other place, but I can't seem to find it.  Anyone have any idea?

    I was really just referring to the level of access that the users had (through our custom Access Levels).  I had gone so far as to give the test user full control to Webi, Infoview, and the Folder the report/publication was in, but the publication still failed.  I figured out late yesterday that the problem was with Universe security.  The user did not have the "Create and Edit Query based on the universe" right.

  • Publish two publications from different customers with the same Adobe DPS ID

    I have a publication made on InDesign and I have uploaded it to the Adobe Server with my Adobe DPS account. For the first publication, I published the publication with the Folio Producer on the digitalpublishing portal, and then I created the app using the Adobe Viewer Builder. Then, I tried it locally on my iPad. It was working fine and I could see my publication.
    Now, I do need to upload a new publication for a different customer with the same Adobe DPS account and I need to create a different app with the new customer look and feel but I don't want to show the first publication in this new app, only the last one.
    In a nushell, I need to keep separated two publications (or more) when they are published if I'm using the same DPS Account... Is that possible?

    Hi Leo,
    Every title should have its own publication AdobeID (a title can contain multiple editions / folios).
    So you have to request for every title you want to work on a provisioned account with Adobe. Make sure that you have setup the corresponding emailaddress / emailalias. For example [email protected] and [email protected]
    After the accounts have been provisioned you can:
    * upload and organize multiple folios for that publication in the corresponding Folio Producer
    * Create a viewer with your Viewer Builder and on the first page supply the AdobeID for the give publication
    You can request new publication accounts any time and these are included with your DPS subscription.
    When you first account got provisioned, you should have received an excel document to request provisioning for the various publications. In this document you can list the accounts you want to use for publications, individual users of the system and viewer builder access.

  • Delivery Rules for Publications (Bo XI 3.1)

    I have a report and would like to send it to recipients only when a condition is true( Report variable > 1). So i have used publications and set a Document delivery rule on a Report Variable.
    For Example  Condition: <Report variable> > 1
    Is it  a correct Syntax ? Because when i set this rule, publication gets succes but Log says publication delivery rule failed and can't distrubute the document.
    If i give some irrelevant syntax in delivery rule, still publications get succes and log says publication delivery rule failed and can't distrubute the document
    So iam confused,
    what is correct syntax ??
    Do we need to use only universe Objects in Document Delivery rules section ?

    Your questions indicate that you are not familiar with XI3.1 architecture and Servers/services involved.
    Do you have an administrator who is familiar with the Product ?
    Otherwise you need to review Admin guide for XI3.1 to get familiar with the concepts and architecture of the product.
    All patching of XI3.x products on the server should be done by windows Administrator or user with Admin priveledges, preferably same user that was used to install the product.
    Inst guide says we need to stop all the services except CMS...what does that mean ?
    This means that you have to go to CCM and click on Manage servers, login into system and stop all servers except CMS (Central Management Service).
    Except Tomcat service in CCM ?
    Tomcat is an Application server, it host/serves Web applications used by our product, like Infoview or CMC.
    Should i stop SIA as well ?
    If you stop SIA, then all XI services will be stopped. Including CMS.
    Let me ask you a question - is your XI3.1 installation functioning ? (Can you login into Infoview or CMC ? Run sample reports ?)

  • Publications - Successful job run - View Log File

    Hi everyone,
    We have a growing number of Publication (based on Webi documents) that are scheduled and I want to report on Errors & Warnings.
    When a Job Fails, I can use our Auditing universe and get visibility of the failure reason. When a Job is Successful but there are warning within the Log File - I don't know how to access this information bar manually having to check each Log file which is not feasible.
    i.e. This snapshot of the History of a publication looks like all three publications were successful:
    The actual jobs ran HOWEVER the one @ 10:00 shows a Warning when you dig into the Log file:
    - There are no schedulable documents in the publication. (FBE60503)

    Notifications are of no use to me here, they flag a Successful job even though a warning exits and no documents were sent.
    Do you know if you can access these Publication Admin Log xxxxxxxx files and generate reports on them?

  • Setting up Publication

    I am trying to setup pulication in CR 2008 report server V1 with Crystal reports. Any my publication returns an error.
    I have done the following:
    Created a profile and added the required user
    Added the following under profile values :
    In the Filter expression -> Crystal Reports expression
    I have entered CurrentCEUserName to get the current logged in user.
    In the publication I have
    Selected the report
    Entered all the required parameters under Personization
    Under filters selected the User ID from the report field dropdown
    Select the the created profile from the Enterprise Receipient mapping dropdown
    Set the destination to Business objects inbox
    When I right click on the pulication and select Run Now it fails. I get the following error in the history.

    OK sorry  this was the wrong solution.
    You have to do the following:
    - In the profile you have to add the following CR expression:
    =CurrentCEUserName
    - In the publication object itself under Personalization you have to select your field
    {SCO_PRIMARY_ACCOUNTS_PER_USER.USERID}
    and assign it the profile you created.
    Add the group or user for whom you created the profile also as recipient in your publication and scedule it.

  • Publication execution error

    I am scheduling a publication for an enterprise recipents list to a file system.
    when i schedule this with admin id it runs as successful.
    But when i add user id in enterprise recipent list.It gives the below error.

    I tried giving the right Add objestc to folder to the user as well as everyone group.
    But it doesnt work.

    As you mentioned,
    On SCN in one thread solution referred was to give right "Add object to folder" in general category.
    You can add rights to  access level. Here are steps where you can assign  "Add object to folder" in general category.
    1. Log on CMC  > Create new Access Level > Click on Action Tab and then click on Include Rights.
    2. Now Under Include Rights > Click on Add/Remove Rights.
    3. Under Rights Collections > General > Enable "Add Objects to the folder" and also enable required rights.
    4. Under Rights Collections > Content > Publication > Enable "Add Objects to the folder" and also enable required rights.
    Now assign this Access level to respective group/user as required.

  • Skipping delivery of publication artifacts within a publication extension

    I have a publication made of 3 documents, which is serviced by a post processing plugin.  In certain situations, I'd like to skip the delivery of one or more of these documents from within the post processing plugin.  What is the best way to accomplish this?  I have tried setting the delivery rule expression, but to no avail.

    Further developments.  The above post looks like I'm going about it in the wrong way.   So I kept looking around, and found that the documentation for the "handle" method within IPublicationPostProcessingPlugin states:
    "This method is invoked after the publishing engine has finished personalizing the publication for a particular destination and scope. It must return an IInfoObjects collection containing all the artifacts created by the plugin that will be delivered to the recipients associated with the current destination and scope."
    I have returned the list of items I want delivered, but no matter what list I return, I still receive the three original reports in the publication.
