Putaway strategies issue

Hello Experts,
I need to redesign the Putaway strategies to make the putaway process better i.e. not to overflow the products even though open bins are available and performance wise better not to take long time with huge items to create Warehouse Order ex: more than 100 items.
When I see existing configuration I found "Specify Storage type search sequence for putaway" table is maintained with combinations as follows:
1. Whse and Search sequence 2. Whse, WPT and Search sequence 3. Whse, PACI and Search sequence.
And, also in table "Optimization of access for storage type determ. at putaway" selected the check boxes in following order
1. Stock category 2. Process type 3. Putaway strategy and Process type 4. Putaway strategy
Nothing else considered. Can you please suggest me what else i need to make sure to be part of the configuration and master data(Product) level
to over come above issues?

That is very difficult, because it depends on a huge number of factors. One thing to look into is the different settings in EWM where you can activate parallel processing.

OK.

Why "1 Stock category"? In the list above you have not entry with a specific stock category, so why use the in the access determination?
I suppose with "Putaway strategy" you mean PACI (just see, the column is really named like that).
But why "3 Putaway strategy and Process type"? Again in your combination list you have no combination of PACI + WPT listed. So the entry leads to nothing.
"2. Process type" and "4. Putaway strategy" are ok. Which sequence they are, depends on what you want to have, what is more important to find.
Deleting the entries 1 and 3 probably changes something in the speed, but I can not quantify that.

If you open the recovery drive (partition) it should only have a single folder (Recovery).
To make sure that your not saving restore points to that drive.

Transfer between storage types and putaway strategies

Dear All,
Here is my scenario and please guide me on as detailes as you gurus can on how to proceed achieve this:
When receiving good from a PO the materials are received in 902: How to move them to my Raw materials storage type?
Note: I have defined 4 storages types, one for raw materials, one for production, one for Finished goods and one for spare parts.
And once I move the materials into the warehouse, what strategies do I have to define in order to place the materials in specific bins? Here's an explanation on how I need the putaway:
I have 5 different racks or stacks but I need all materials to be placed in a specific row of the first level, lets say material A in 01-A-01 the first 2 digits are stack then level then row(SS-L-RR); Material B should be placed 01-A-02 Material C 01-A-03; meaning all the materials should be placed in the level A of stack 1 but if there is another recepit of material A and it is already full then the system should propose another bin doesn't matter which one as long as it is not in the first level (because this positions are reserved for other materials).
This is the same for materials D, E, F but those are to be placed in stack 02 in level A
I need this because that's the way my client work right now, it is like Lean manufacturing strategy, so whenever they need to pick materials they always have them available at the lowest level
Is there an automatic bin to bin TO creation for when the picking empty the bin at the lowest level then a TO should be triggered automaticaly saying move from whatever bin the material is available to the "fixed" bin assigned in level A

The variable here is that as I said before I have 5 Racks so in the other 3 stacks doesn't matter the levels, the materials can be placed wherever, and this will happen when receiving material A but all stack 1 is full then system should try to place it in the nearest bin available of stack 2 (only levels B, C, D) or if this is also full, then goes to stack 3 ( all levels available)
Please advise on how to map this, and the transactions and mvt types involved, and also please explain how should I make the picking or removal strategy to propose the picking always from the specific lower level bin, if not enough qty available then go and pick from other bin (and if it is possible at this point to create a TO to refill the fixed lower bin)

Putaway strategy based on nearest empty bin

In my storage type there are different bins, how is it possible for me to have the system propose a nearest empty bin for a putaway location, nearest empty need not be the next empty bin strategy, what considerations i should take during bin creation, how can this be linked to the sort sequence,need a clean explanation of this issue.

You can use sort variable function to map nearer to your requirement, called as Cross-line stock putaway.
Cross-Line Stock Putaway
In this function, a sort variable helps the system to search for suitable storage bins. With the sort variable, you can eliminate the problems caused by one-sided loading in the warehouse and optimize the stock putaway process in your warehouse. If the sort variable has not been defined, the system sorts using the storage bin coordinate itself
With the putaway strategies L (next storage bin) and P (storage unit type), you can influence the search for a suitable storage bin with the help of a sort variable. This method can also be set up for storage types with putaway strategies L (Addition to existing stock) or B (Bulk storage), since if the system does not find a bin for adding to existing stock, it will use sort variables to find an empty storage bin.

Putaway strategy sequence

Dear Experts,
Please suggest me for the following scenario.
I have material master with storage types N00 and D00, In which i have assigned the Placement strategy
For D00 = R10 - R10 -D00
For N00 = N00
If the case is like that, then how the system would know which Bin is to be selected?
Would it be R10 or N00?

what putaway strategies are you using?
I am just asking, as a storage type view in material master is not really needed in any case.
more than 90 percent of my materials that are warhouse managed do not have a storage type view, even the stock of one material is sitting in various storage types in my warehouse. I use a storage type view only in case of fix bin strategy.
So I am not sure if you created the views in material master on purpose to support a certain process, or just because you thought you need then as you store this material in those types.
First comes the scenario, then you do the customizing for this scenario.
What is your scenario, can you explain?

We have the following MW Requirement .Can you let me the steps of the configurations that need to be done in the system for each activity below in SAP WM.
1.       Purchasing & invoicing
a.       Purchase orders, Payment, Invoicing etc.
2.       Goods receipt at warehouse
a.       IRN , GRN etc.
3.       Put away to locations / bins etc.

In case of manual confirmation as may be required we will have to do the confirmation with respect to
Transfer Order, using the Tcode: LT12

Bin at Batch LEVEL

Hello Experts,
We have bins that are set up at batch level ...we dont want this setting cos when we are running analysis it is giving a wrong value in one of the key figure....
can any one tell me is it cycle counting at batch level can we change it to storage location level please explain ...
EXample: we use an exception ...when ever the bin is empty it should trigger the exception but suppose there are 3 batches in the bin whenever you issue a batch it is trigerring the exception ...suppose if there are three issue it should trigger once but it triggers three times PLEASE HELP

In general, the fixed bin strategy allows you to specify the bin to which a material will be placed during a putaway transaction (provided the concerned storage type has putaway strategy configured as F).
I understand your requirement is to place different batches into different bins ie the bin is determined depending on the batch.
While not possible in standard, you can try making use of an exit for this purpose. The exit MWMTO003 may be used in CMOD to develop your own putaway strategy. You will have to activate the exit (a checkbox) in the putaway control parameters in the storage type configuration.

To cancel transfer orders
   1. Choose Logistics ® Logistics Execution ® Internal Whse Processes ® Stock Transfer ® Cancel Transfer Order® Single Document from the SAP menu.
   2. Enter the transfer order number and the warehouse number on the initial screen and choose Enter.
The next screen features three tab pages:
u2013 Active work list
u2013 Inactive items
u2013 Confirmed items
Example
Depending on the setup made in customizing for the confirmation screen and the movement type, the system may not display all three tab pages. For example, when you move a complete storage unit within the warehouse, the system only displays the active work list and the internal confirmation list. Since you are moving the entire storage unit, there is no selection column for individual items.
   3. You can select items that you do not want to cancel in the active worklist and send them to the inactive items list by selecting the Inactive button. To cancel the transfer order items in the active work list, choose Transfer order
      ® Post.
Before you Structure link cancel a goods issue for an outbound delivery, you should return any material which has already been picked for the delivery to stock in the warehouse.
You can return either complete outbound deliveries or individual transfer order items for the outbound delivery to stock in the warehouse.
Prerequisites
You can only return material for WM relevant outbound deliveries to stock, which has already been fully picked. You have already created and completely confirmed transfer orders for this outbound delivery (WM picking status = C).
Procedure
   1. From the SAP Menu, choose Logistics ® Logistics Execution ® Goods Issue for Outbound Delivery ® Picking® Cancel Transfer Order ® Return Transfer for Outbound Delivery.
   2. Enter data as required.
   3. The system proposes cancellation movement type 999. You can however define your own movement type.
   4. If you want to return the material for a complete outbound delivery to stock, choose Delivery View.
      If you want to return individual TO items for an outbound delivery to stock, choose, TO item view.
   5. Select the outbound deliveries or TO items that you wish to return to stock.
   6. The following activities are available to you for returning the goods to stock:
Return to stock
The system attempts to return the quants to the bin from which they were picked.
Putaway in the foreground
The system displays a dialog box where you can specify where the quant is to be putaway.
Putaway in the background
Result
The system creates transfer orders for returning the material from the selected TO items or outbound deliveries to stock.
The system resets the WM picking status of the outbound delivery.
Leaving content frame
The system searches for a storage bin based on the putaway strategies defined in the system.

Is it possible to run TWO parellel configurations for one Object??

SAP Gurus,
We have a strange requirement from the client to have to configurations established in the system for one configuration object.
Without taking much of your time let me paraphrase the requirements.
The client is having two different types of putaway strategies in their current business process. And they toggle between these putaway strategies by reaching out to their production support group and they make configuration changes to have the other put away strategy
One Step Putaway: GR area --> High Rack Storage
Two Step Putaway: GR area --> Interim storage (area at the end of each aisle of high rack storage) --> High Rack
Client wants to have two parallel configurations for both of these put away strategies and needs an ability to switch from one to another. This switching ability should be accessed from SAP screen without any IT intervention (no configuration)
- Switching ability should allow the warehouse manager to change from one step to two step put away strategies without any IT intervention.
- Switching ability should be accessed my SAP Screen (Z-transaction or something with a radio button to toggle around)
Is it possible to have two configuration made for Putaway Strategies and switch them on/off depending on the warehouse needs??
Your invaluable feedback on this will be highly appreciated.

Q1--I don't believe it is possible. An organization can have multiple licenses tied to its main email address, for example, but then they are assigned to the individual users.
Q2--Yes, you would just need to log out of your account within the CC desktop app prior to logging in on the other account.

Stock placement strategy via user exit

Hello,
I'm tring to change putaway strategy by using a user exit.
In customizing i enter:
Logistics Execution u2013 Warehouse Management u2013 Strategies u2013 Putaway Strategies u2013 Define strategy for fixed bins.
Table V_T301S.
When i enter one of the movements i can put V next to User exit act.
How can I make the connection between the strategy and the user exit?

Hi,
In the ST masterdata (config: WM - Masterdata - Define ST) you must activate the User Exit field for putaway and/or removal for the specified ST you want to use with a user exit. See view: V_T3010-USEIN or Table T331-USEIN. When this indicator is set and you go through the TO creation log, you will see that at some stage there will be an entry where is states that you are using an user exit to place/pick stock.

Eric is right. However the task of comparying two IDM solutions is not an easy one. Given the various features is is rather complex to really tell which one is better. We have been doing product comparisons for the last 5 years including Novell, IBM, SUN, Siemens, Microsoft, Voelcker Information, HP and now of course SAP.
The biggest differentiation beween every other product and SAP is definitely the integraiton in the ABAP stack. This is where Eric is right. You will not find any other product that does this so well (of course). All other IDM vendors offers agents/connectors/adapters/drivers for SAP CUA and SAP HR but that is only a communication to the SAP system and not the type of integration that SAP offers.
Again - this is onyl one aspect of a comparison. In general we use some 25 main topics for a "management compatible" comparison and some 50 different aspects for a technical comparison.
Things are even getting more complex as IDM solutions are more and more extended by role management solutions. So it is also very important for a comparison to take strategic issues for a specific customer into account (i.e. will the customer create a company wide role model to be used in user provisioning).
I know that this will probably not really help you - but that is the way it is.

Replace sapwebsapconsole with ITSMobile

I have a few questions regarding ITSMobile configurations as we are in the process of replacing our sapwebsapconsole with ITSMobile.
We currently have intermec scanning device (use by multiple users), and backend ECC6.0 SP13. We also have SSO configured withSAP Portal NW7.0SP14 mainly configured for ESS, and Reports.
As a proof of concept, I created 1 service (ZITSMOBILE) for Transaction LM01 in sicf as well as in SE80.
Under this service, I generated all the templates for all the programs and screens: which contains about 50 templates.
     Goods Receipt
     Putaway
     Goods Issue
     Returns
     WM Processes
I selected WebGui for Generating Style as this is what worked with the screen without modifications.
And the GUI Configuration: I added as I went along and read some of the threads for corrections and this is what I ended up with to make all the settigns work, including the log-off (F8) button.

As for logging into the device, I noticed that prompts for login 2x. Once for the browser (it seems) 2nd to the backend (ECC). Can the 2nd or 1st login be eliminated? We would like the RF Device users to login to the device, and be disconnected once they hit the log-off button, currently this is not happening, somehow the LogonTicket is still valid when another user uses the same device.

Target another frame in a frameset with for example
getUrl (example.html, "rightFrame");
has Adobe released some solution?
- Right now we migrate from Flash towards PowerPoint and CSS,
because
the lack of answers and interactivity in Flash because of
Microsofts "security pathes" in IE 6 and 7
Right now I cant find a simple solution of how to target
another
frame from a frame in the same html-doc from a button in a
flash navigation.
Am I right or wrong? It looks like everyone avoid this simple

in a frame called navigation in LeftFrame:

The problem is that you cant use flash navigation in the same

I already migrate to CSS, PHP and PowerPoint because of

At least I hope Adobe is interested of producing a motion
tutorial of how to solve the problems by
Javascript or whatever complex and not user friendly

they come up with.

Diff b/w activate storage section chk via menu path & OMLZ

In SPRO>LE>WM>Strategies>Putaway strategies>Define strategy for Fixed Bin,
While activating putaway strategy as "Fixed Bin" it is not possible to tick the check Box "Storage Chk. section active" & getting error as "If you have st.pl.str. "Fixed bin", the area check must not be active"
But in Tcode OMLZ, i can able to activate this Storage section Chk.
I want to understand why such difference & what is the impact if i activate it in OMLZ

OMLZ is storage section search and the menu path is for putaway strategy, both are completely different.
Error message, is you are giving a particular bin as fixed bin but the storage section search is active for that. When the storage section search is active, i beleive fixed bin indicator is not possible.
