QMSM - determining quality notification task types
QMSM has a combination of preventative and corrective tasks.
I need to send a seperate email for Corretive and Prevenative tasks.
How can you determine which task type is which?

On this engagement FUNKTION is not populated, MATXT is freeform so the description doesn't necessarily make it obvious what tpe it is. MNKAT is the same value for all of the rows, and there is a mix of preventative and corrective tasks.
Is there a function module that I can run to determine this?

Material Document field to be added in the Quality Notification F3 type
Hello Experts,
i have to add Material Document field in the Quality Notification (F3 type --Material rel. defect ) through
T-code QM01.
Please help me out.
thanksHi
IMG-->QM>Quality notifications->Notification Creation->Define Screen Templates--> Define Initial Screens--> select F3 here and enter QM03_CREATE_QMEL_WITH_WINDOW in the column Name of the function module and enter 0100 in the initial screen column., save it.
If you wish to make material document field mandatory, then go to
IMG-->QM>Quality notifications->Notification Creation->Define Screen Templates--> Field Selection: Initial Screens--> select the radio button as REQ for the field RQM01-MBLNR that is for material doc.
Similarly for in the above menu you can make mandatory for reference object screen also
IMG-->QM>Quality notifications->Notification Creation->Define Screen Templates--> Field Selection: Reference Object Screens--> select the radio button as REQ for the field RQM01-MBLNR that is for material doc.
Now, once you finish this , go and try QM01 you will find the POP for Material document entry coming immediately if you pres the Notification button for F3 Notification type.

Standard SAP work flow in Quality Notification (TASKS)
Hello Experts
we are using ECC 6. I am testing standard SAP workflow in quality notification (QN).
I have done following:
1. craeted QN with type F2 and assigned defects and tasks. In tasks,under column TASK PROCESSOR I selected user responsible.I also assigned my SAP user id under RESPONSIBLE column to receive SAP email when task is released.
2.realeased tasks and QN, saved QN.
3. in TX SBWP , see SAP email under Outbox->Started workflow area with status "READY"
My expectation is that I should be getting email in my SAP INBOX or in workflow to confirm that email is sent to appropriate user.
Seems that currently it is in-transit stage and not sent.
Do let me know what I am missing, any configuration required.
Thanks

Change of quality notification document type
Hello guys,
the SAP enables change of notificaiton type, but only if original notification has origin "General notification". Has somebody succeeded to change also notification with origin "Q1 Customer complaint", meaning Quality notification.
Thanks
Br, JanIn config, you have to explicitly define what changes you allow.
Most of my clients have defined their own not. Types. So we have to define for each one, what other not. type it is allowed to be changed to.
In config, under the Quality Notifications area, select Notification Creation --> Notification Type --> Allowed Change of Notification Type.
It should be pretty clear once you are in there.
You must test the conversion however. Read the config help and it will talk about inconsistencies. The data from the source QN must map ok to the target QN. If you special requirements in the target QN like certain mandatory fields, it might nit be possible to make the conversion. Each possible conversion should be carefully tested.

Quality Notifications tasks authorization
Hello Experts,
Need your advice on Quality Notification authorization access.
In Quality Notifications once a coordinator enters the tasks we want to control who can have access to delete a task or change the user responsible for tasks. In other words we want users to execute the tasks and mark them complete but we do not want users to be able to change the user responsible for the task or delete the task from quality notification other than co-ordinator himself. So is there a way to control this using authorizations or by using BADI and writing a code for the authorization check? Please advice. It will be very helpful.
Thanks.
Regards,
Sreepati HariWhile assigning role to the user. I have to give authorization for qm02. Under qm02 I give access to QN* as suggested by you for user to complete or release task only.
But the issue is when he is processing a task he can change the user responsible for the task as it is a open field. Is there a way that I can make that field display to most of the users other than coordinator?
Thats where I am running into issue with.
Thanks

Automatic Task Determination In Quality Notifications
Hi QM experts!
In the <b>Quality Notifications</b>, there is an item called "<b>DETERMINE TASKS</b>", it under the menu EDIT->TASKS->DETERMINE. What is the main purpose of this item? Is this the part where i can automatically put the TASKS in the TASKS tab? If that is so, how can i set it up?
What is also the main function of <b>DETERMINE PARTNERS</b>. And how do i set it up?
I would really appreciate if someone could help me.
Thank you.
Regards,
Heinrick Paladhi heinrick
the menu use specified is used for automatically generating of Task when you specify the priority in notification, it works like this
Automatic Determination of Tasks
Use
The system can automatically determine which tasks should be performed first, based on the predefined parameters response profile and service profile. The response profile and service profile determine the times and the time interval within which your company should respond to a notification in a particular way:
In the response profile, you can define one or more standard tasks based on a notification's priority, which the system can propose automatically and which must be performed within a specified time period. The system automatically assigns the determined tasks to the notification header.
In the service profile, you can define time periods for individual workdays (service windows), in which a quality notification can be processed.
You create a notification at 10:00 am. The response profile defines a time interval of two hours for the task code "Call back customer" and a time interval of 4 hours for the code "Check whether technician is on site". The times defined in the service window are 8:00 am to 12.00 noon and from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
In this case, you should call back the customer by 12:00 noon to discuss or clarify the problem. If you have to send a technician to the customer site, the technician must arrive by 4:00 pm.
Prerequisites
Your system administrator must assign both a response profile and a service window to each notification type in Customizing for Notification Processing.
Activities
Choose Edit ® Tasks ® Determine to automatically determine the tasks. You can also choose Edit ® Tasks ® Simulation(Det.) to simulate the task determination (without actually assigning the tasks to the notification).

Hi PLM specialists,
I do have a question concerning quality notification, type F2 - vendor error. I do get the following tabs: reference objects, subject, processing: that's clear.
But there are also these tabs: items, tasks, activities. The tab items has the following subtabs: overview, causes, tasks and activities.
Does anyone has an idea concerning their use and what is the difference between the subtabs tasks, activities and the tabs tasks and activities?
Thanks!Dear Peter,
The use of Item level Tasks and Header level task have been mentioned in SAP help.
Basicaly Header level tasks are referred as "Immediate Tasks", These tasks provide a quick fix for a problem requiring immediate attentione and header level activities are referred as activities done immediately attend the same.
Item level tasks are " Corrective Tasks". These tasks usually provide final solutions that wil prevent the problem for reccuring.
For eg if you get a vendor rejection in your shop the immediate action will to intimate to the concerned person quickly and remove it to block location. So your immedite task can be of like 1) Communicate the production personnel 2) block the material 3) block the vendor 4) inform vendor and activities can be of like 1) email send to vendor 2) material moved to block 3)deliveries return back to vendor etc
But as you know notification refers to a particular defect. So we need to take necessary corrective and preventive actions. SAP notification helps in doing this also. The item level entries are basicaly meant for this. In Item overview we can enter the defects that was noted on the material, you can maintain relevant causes for the same. Corrective tasks can be of like 1) Audit at vendors place 2) activation of source inspection 3) tighten the inspection standards and relevant activities done to achieve the tasks can also be maintained. This also helps in creating the 8D reports
So a detailed analysis of the problem is dealt in the item level Cause, tasks & activities while immediate action get covered in the header datas.
Hope this helps in clarifying your doubt

Function Module to create Tasks in a Quality Notification
Hi,
I am trying to create Tasks in an existing Quality Notification through a program.
I have used 'BAPI_QUALNOT_MODIFY_DATA', 'BAPI_QUALNOT_SAVE' and 'BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT', but it create any tasks in the given quality notification.
I am passing values to the following parameters in ''BAPI_QUALNOT_MODIFY_DATA" FM:
- NUMBER (Quality Notification Number)
- NOTIFTASK (Notification Task for Creation)
- NOTIFTASK_X (Change Indicator for Notification Task)
I am getting this error message in BAPI's RETURN internal table - "No changes made" (Message ID: IM and Message No: 407).
Can anybody suggest me where am I going wrong? Is there any alternate way to create Tasks for a QN doc?
Thanks in advance for your help/thoughts!Hi Krishna,
You can use "RH_STRUC_GET ". In import parameters pass the following values,
ACT_OTYPE = 'O'
ACT_OBJID = <Org Unit Object Id>
ACT_WEGID = O-S-P
ACT_PLVAR = 01
ACT_BEGDA = <Start Date>
ACT_ENDDA = <End Date>
ACT_TDEPTH = 0
ACT_TFLAG = 'X'
ACT_VFLAG = 'X'
AUTHORITY_CHECK = 'X'
You will get all the positions and persons under that org unit in the RESULT_TAB table. You can read this table to read the positions alone.
Thanks,

We need to make nearly identical Quality Notification Types to one we have already created. I've seen how to create one from one of the Standard SAP notification types but its pull-down copy-from only lists SAP ones and there seems to be no provision to enter any of our customized ones.
It is more trouble than it should be to manually go line by line, screen by screen of the Dialog Structure in SPRO and make the same entries over again especially since we need two new QN Types.good desing would be to somehow get the key and then save the attachment based on that, for some reason if thats not possible you can use BDS_BUSINESSDOCUMENT_COPY to copy from your 0000 version to new key

No quality notification type has been defined for inspection type 89
Hi
When I am creating a manual inspection lot and want to create a quality notification it gives me this error "No quality notification type has been defined for inspection type 89" where do I assign the notifications to the inspection lot.???
I want to know where do I configure it??
Regards
SureshHi
Path for assigning the Qualtiy notification type to Qualtiy inspection type:
SPRO--> Qualtiy Mangement --> Qualtiy inspection --> Inspection lot creation -->
Maintain Inspection types.
Select the inspection type and goto details screen
You can find notification type field in the details.Give the value and Save.

URGENT! - Quality Notification - Causes, Tasks, Activities
Hi,
This is in regards to Quality Notifications (QM01/02/03.)
Right now, I have all of the causes, tasks and activities, each in a separate table, for a specific item of a notification.
How do I get the causes, tasks, and activities into one table, in the correct order?
By correct order i mean, say if you go into the details of an item, say it only has one 1 cause, 3 tasks, and 2 activities. Thus, there would be 3 lines for that particular item. In turn, the table that combines causes, tasks, and activities would have 3 lines for the item for a specific notification.
Please help. This is very urgent and important.
Thanks,
Johnbump!

Long text indicator against Notification task & SubOrder creation
Hi all,
We are using BAPI_ALM_NOTIF_ADD to create long texts against the notification tasks. Though the long texts are created and can be viewed through IW22, the long text indicator in QMSM table is not set and hence when I display the notification through IW23 and navigate to the tasks, the long text available icon is not displayed. I tried to use CREATE_TEXT and SAVE_TEXT as well. Somehow the long text indicator doesn't get set. Do I need to explicitly set this indicator after the BAPI call? Please provide your valuable inputs.
Also, I have one more issue. Is there a way of creating Sub Order against the PM order through a BAPI? We have a requirement to create a Sub Order against the superior PM order through transaction IW36. Could you please suggest if any of you have come across any BAPI that supports this requirement?
Thanks & Regards,
VidyaI know I am posting answer to very old thread as did not find any answer so far, so giving clue. See if new solution seekers this helps you now…
Cause:
As the create_text or save_text does creation of text at data base level and does not pass through all the screens of the particular transaction, so the text editor icon is not enabled [like in tcode IW23 (IW33) Notification display text editor, tables holding damage text and cause text indicator qmfe-indtx & qmur-indtx I ]
Solution:
Read existing text using FM READ_TEXT i.e. retain existing text in internal table, say IT_READ
Delete existing text using FM 'DELETE_TEXT'. Remember to set save_direct = x
Perform BDC to add dummy text doing call transaction. This will set text indicator to ‘X’.
Append your new ext to IT_READ.
Now create text again using FM 'CREATE_TEXT'. Remember to set save_direct = x
If you have requirement that created text should not be editable then you need to change format of IT_READ.
Like IT_READ-tdformat = ‘>X’ & IT_READ-tdline = ‘*<one space><your text>’ [may use CONCATENATE '*' IT_READ-tdline INTO IT_READ-tdline SEPARATED BY space.].
Below are above steps code snap shots.
Bdc part for IW22
PERFORM bdc_dynpro USING 'X' 'SAPLIQS0' '7200'.
PERFORM bdc_field USING 'BDC_OKCODE' '=TXPS'. "DAMAGE_TXT icon
or PERFORM bdc_field USING 'BDC_OKCODE' '=TXUR'. "CAUSE_TXT icon
Based on your text editor configured to keep track of timestamp log, use one of the option. My case first two lines of text editor shown timestamp log lines and they are non editable.
* PERFORM bdc_dynpro USING 'X' 'SAPLSTXX' '1100'.
* PERFORM bdc_field USING 'BDC_CURSOR' 'RSTXT-TXLINE(02)'.
* PERFORM bdc_field USING 'BDC_OKCODE' '=POSF'.

* PERFORM bdc_field USING 'RSTXT-TXLINE(03)' 'Dummy text for indicator line 3'.
PERFORM bdc_dynpro USING 'X' 'SAPLSTXX' '1100'.
