QoS - Nortel Option 11c thru 2811s

Looking for config assistance on a couple of 2811s, connected via a T1 that will carry voice traffic between 2 Nortel Option 11c's.
Will 'auto qos voip trust' on the serial interfaces suffice?
Does a 'map' function need to be defined?

Hi, that is the minimal config to protect voice traffic:
class-map voice
match ip dscp ef
policy-map test
class voice
priority percent 50 <--- you are allocating no more than 768 Kbps to voice
interface serial X/Y
service policy output test
Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

  • VoIP between Norstar and Nortel option 11

Hi, i have some problems in the calls between a Norstar and a Nortel option 11, both are connected to a 2811 via E1 with the IOS is c2800nm-spservicesk9-mz.124-15.T3.bin both routers are using h323. We also have a Callmanager 5.1.2.3000-2 that interact with both PBX.
The problem is that when i make a call from the Norstar to the Nortell or CCM the call listens choppy and sometime the voice goes only one side.
Do you know of some debug that i can apply to see ISDN errors, h323 errors, or QoS errors.
    Thanks in advanced

Well the IAD is configured for E&M immidiate which is completely different from R2 even though they are both a way to do CAS.

  • Delivering Caller ID via 28XX to Nortel Option 61

We would like to introduce caller ID into a phone system that is currently running a Nortel Option 61. Two PRIs will be terminated into two 28XX routers that will be frontending the Opt61. We are doing this to position ourselves to eventually migrate to IPT. The connection between the 28XX and the Opt 61 I am assuming will be PRIs running QSiG? Any gotchas out there or things I need to be aware of that people may have seen? No CUCMs yet so these gateways will be standalone caller id gateways for the OPtion 61. Any advice would be appreciated.

  • CUCM 8.6 QSIG to Nortel Option 81 No Caller ID

Working on an H.323 QSIG trunk to Nortel Option 81. Everything is working except caller ID on local calls. Cisco phones making local (7digit) calls only display the lead trunk (BTN) number for caller ID. Long distance calls display the correct caller ID. The Nortel has a separate local and LD trunks. Nortel phones have correct caller id displayed for both local and LD calls.

It looks like we are sedning the same information to the Nortel on both callS AND the Q931 information on both calls looks to be correct.

So it apprears to be something on the Nortel side??? What can I check on the Nortel to see how these two calls are recieved and routed to the locan and LD trunks.

Have you had any luck solving this issue?
I am having the exact same problem.  What I have found is that the local provider is saying that the number is not coming across in E.164 format which then appears to them as an unknown number so they just append either the main phone number to the caller ID or sometimes the phone number associated with billing contact.  The nortel works just fine in both senarios, but there seems to be something lost in translation between the Cisco and Nortel.   So far I haven't been able to find a setting to fix this.

  • AS5300 with Nortel Meridian 11C and Lucent Definity

    I have the following environment:
    MERIDIAN--R2DIGITAL--AS5300--IP--AS5300--R2DIGITAL--DEFINITY
When I post voice connections from Meridian to Definity all work's fine, but in reverse way the phone ring one time and the call is cleared.
Others H.323 terminals (IP Phones, Softphones, etc.) placa calls to all gateways without problems ?
Anyone have any idea about to fix this problem ?
    Thank's in advance

    Thank's for your reply.
There is other information about this problem. When connections flow from phone connected on Definity to Meridian the phone connected on Meridian ring one time and call is dropped. But when AS5300 connected to Definity start a connection through "csim start xxxx" the phone on Meridian side ring many times and when the call is answered the call don't drop.
In your opinion wich debug better detect this problem ?

  • SIP Trunk for Legacy Nortel PBX

We have a legacy Nortel Meridian Option 11c, and about 400 digital sets. This is being fed by two PRI's from a big, old telecom whose name you would recognize if I told you. Our 3-year contract on the PRI's expired and our long distance went up overnight by an unbelievable percentage (completely outrageous and unsustainable). We have to get off of them right away. We're thinking that a SIP trunk service would be an economical way to bring down the costs; however the current system does not have capabilities to connect to a SIP trunk. There are two ways to address this: 1) a SIP-to-PRI gateway device (Digium, Adtran, etc.), or 2) get a whole new phone system. We have vendors trying to push us a to completely new phone system. We are not in a position to buy a new phone system. Maybe in a couple of years, but not now. Yes, I know Nortel...
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks Community

You don't need H323 at all in this setup, man.
    The Correct Setup Is:
TDM PBX ----PRI--->Cisco ISRG2 Gateway with PVDMs and VWIC2 or better ----SIP-----> SIPSP
This works like you have a PRI gateway from the PSTN to CUCM, except reversed. The VOIP call legs face your SIP SP, and the POTS call legs face the PBX.
I'd recommend against Q.SIG. I know a lot of people like it but each PBX vendor speaks a slightly different version and it gets messy. Just provision the whole thing as NI2 and make sure you are the network and clock source for the PBX (clock source internal on the controller and protocol-emulate network on the Serial x/x/x:23 interface).
Make sure your dial peers are set up correctly and this is easy as cake, man.
Let me know if you need any configuration assistance on this, I've done it like a thousand times.

  • Problem with PRI and Nortel Integration

We have a Nortel Option 81C connected to a 3825 MGCP gateway and we had a weird problem with it. The PRI looked fine from CallManager's perspective, but the PBX was showing that the first nine channels were in a Far End Make Busy state (FE MBSY) instead of being in IDLE state like CCM thought.
I did some checking around and found a weird "fix" for the problem that involved enabling and then disabled D-channel service messages on the PBX, but I'd like to find out more about this problem. I got the fix from a guy who has a LOT of experience with Nortel and with Cisco, and he said that 99 times out of 100, an FE MBSY problem like this is going to be because of the Cisco side, not the Nortel side.
I just did a bug search through CCM 4.1(3) and IOS 12.4(8) and I didn't see anything about D-channels being incorrectly reported as unavailable on PRI.
Have any of you ever heard of something like this?
    Thanks!
    John

    John,
Our 81Cs are long gone, but the only ISDN switchtype that worked flawlessly for us was NI. We tried DMS100, and saw your problem. Nortel sees NI as a carrier side protocol and will not allow an inbound NI call to tandem through to another NI PRI. This forced us move all PSTN PRIs to CCM gateways early in out migration, but worked out well. I believe QSIG will also work, but it was a $20k upgrade for our PBXs, so was not an option.

  • QoS and WMM settings slow internet down when enabled

Ok, so I recently upgraded to a Linksys E3200. I am trying to get the QoS to work properly. I know that it is supposed to prioritize network traffic, so that if I have busy traffic but I am playing an online game, it should keep my gaming from stuttering while slowing other traffic down. It's a great idea in theory.
The problem is that every time I enable QoS everything slows down dramatically. I had a 200MB download that was going to take 5hrs with QoS enabled, that took 10min with QoS disabled. And with QoS enabled I can't even watch a youtube video without it pausing to buffer every 10 seconds. And that was the only PC/device using the network at the time. Again turning off the QoS WMM option solved  the problem. I have noticed this problem with multiple routers and brands and usually just disable QoS as soon as I set up a router, however I heard that I won't get the full benefit of 300Mbps without QoS enabled. Does anyone know if that is true?
I don't have any special Voice over IP needs, or video streaming etc. and I rarely am using multiple network devices at the same time. Is there really any reason I should enable QoS?
Also I never really play with the settings for QoS, I just figure that since it comes enabled by default it should work for the average consumer. Does anyone know if changing the settings will help?
    Thanks for your help
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

So leave it off since it's not working for you.  FWIW I have never found it to be of any benefit.  The router works fine without it.

  • How can I setup an online form with PayPal as an Option, not a requirement (pay cash or check)?

I have setup a form for our students' families to submit payments, with the options of cash/check/credit/PayPal.  The form has radio button options for their payment choice, but once I configured PayPal with the form, it will not allow submission without going thru PayPal.  I would prefer to have the PayPal checkout be "Show/Hide" configurable, based upon their selection in the payment choice radio buttons.
    Thanks,
    Andy

I did try that, but I can't get the logic to work.  There are multiple purchase fields (different items with different payment amounts), and I added another purchase field that was keyed to the payment type selection (cash/check/PayPal, set to $0), and it still generates only a PayPal checkout button, even if PayPal is not selected as the payment type.  Perhaps it would work differently if there was only 1 payment item/amount, and we could use the payment type choice to control the PayPal actions (I am guessing that is what the work around was referring to), but that is not an option for us.
As for now, it appears that the only way we can use PayPal is to tell folks to manually go to PayPal and send us the funds.  An extremely clumsy process, but there does not appear to be any other options offered thru FormsCentral (a real missed opportunity).

  • Thru project raise Sales order for billing ?

    hi
I am looking for any option available raising Sales order thru Project ie., CJ20N or CJ02.
Currently we are creating customer project in Project System thru CJ01 with Project definitino along with WBS Elements. Create Network and assign WBS element, in network we have components & services procured.
After project commissioned, we have to raise sales order/billing document for components & services, presently we raising thru VA01 and raise SO for materials & services, after SO, we raise billing documents and submit to customer.
I have tried using DIP and it is not suiting for our requirement, now i am looking for option raise thru CJ02 project or thru CN22 thru Network.
    Pl help
    thanx in advance
    srihari

    Hi Srihari,
You have to raise a Debit Memo Request (DMR, which is again a type of Sales order only). But for this also, you need the master Sales Order to be created separately.
You create a Sales Order with the line item being the concept of the Project (for example, Power Plant Construction)
    Maintain the WBSE account assignment.
Using RRB, you can generate a Debit Memo Request (this is a subsequent document to the Master Sales Order but also is a type of sales order)
then in SD, with reference to this DMR, Billing Document will be created & simultaneous revenue updation on the Project can be done.
    regards

  • ACS-4.1 - doesn't display Radius(Nortel) in Interface configuration

We have one ACS running over Windows that we can see the Radius(Nortel) option in Interface Configuration.
Have anyone treated with this issue?

That is probably because you have no AAA device configured for Radius (Nortel). IF you configure one, it will appear in the interface configuration

  • Domain purchase of e-mail address

Looking for some assistance with a similar problem as posted by ANGRYELF on 1-22-15.  My situation came about by moving to an area that is on the fringe of all carrier zones.  Prior to moving I contacted Verizon to see if they had equipment to sell that would allow me to keep my DSL and home phone with them.  They looked at their coverage map and said I was out of any coverage area.  I then contacted Verizon Moving folks.  They could not even find my address and had to send it to engineering to add the address in and would contact me in 2 weeks.  They never called back and as my hard wire phone lines ends 1/2 mile from the new house, I called back to ask that if I had the hard wire line extended, could I get DSL.  They again checked and said that DSL was not available in this area.  Net result was No phone and No internet thru Verizon.  Finally found a work around to get phone and internet with different providers and when I installed the equipment, I ported my Verizon number as I'd had it for a number of years and everyone has it.  Received a call from the new provided stating that Verizon had contacted them and my phone would be released in 3 days.  Not being a computer tech type, I never realized that an e-mail address could be ported or purchased/rented on an annual basis to keep it active.  Nowhere on the Verizon web site do they mention this fact nor do they bother to send out any notification that the customer can keep their same e-mail account for a fee.  Zip as for information.  I figured I may lose my DSL when the phone ported but since they are 2 different functions, I expected a notice that my DSL access would be discontinued in X-days and options presented at that time.  Nothing.  When I tried to log in after porting the phone over, I received a message saying my account has been suspended and to contact Tech Support.  I spent the next 2.5 hours talking to customer service, tech support twice, sales, domain management and all to no purpose.  Since the account had been closed, there was nothing that could be done to even temporarily reinstate it to allow me to submit a work requet to buy/rent the account on an annual basis.  Are any Verizon customers aware that there is a whole segment that deals with just internet, domains, and e-mails for residential and business customers?  I wasn't until I called tech support trying to get my account re-activated.  They transferred me to them.  Several options exist thru them such as repairmyemail.com or KEEPMYEMAIL.COM.  Best kept secret in the world.  Option 3 allows you to put in a work request to allow the customer to buy and keep their existing e-mail for about $20 per year.  Since mine had been active for several years and like ANGRYELF, 90% of my dealings referenced this address.  The bottom line in talking with everyone at Verizon (other than the failure to present options prior to closing the phone account) was that since the account had been closed by billing, there was no way to re-activate the DSL portion long enough to submit the work request under the keepmyemail.com screen.  I am very surprised that a communications company of this size with the number to customers they have would be so callused to just drop a former long term customer cold with no regard or options especially after they were unable to provide the requested  transfer of services.  I also don't beleive they are incapable of making this happen - everything that pertains to an account - setup, activation, billing, fixing problems, closure- is under their control.  It is just a matter of putting the right infomation in the right box and hitting enter.  Just like past experience with my hard wire phone line problems.

    Hi ANGRYELF,

  • Help needed restricting users admin access to devices using ACS 4.2

I have users that access the network via a VPN client to a PIX 515 which authenticates to the ACS (using the default group for unknown users) which uses an external Active Directory Database.
The problem I have is that as the ACS authenticates these users, it now allows them admin access to the PIX. How do I restrict access? I have looked at NARs using the 'All AAA clients, *, *' approach but that just stops their VPN access. ( I have a separate group called 'PIX ACCESS' which will contained only defined users for admin access).
Incidentally I have other devices on the network which are AAA clients, in particular Nortel switches. I can set the group settings for that RADIUS set up to 'Authenticate Only' (RADIUS Nortel option) and that works fine, I was expecting the ACS to have a similar setting for TACACS+.
So how do I allow the unknown users to authenticate to their AD database but restrict them admin access to the AAA clients?

Very common problem. I've solved it twice over the last 6 years with ACS. I'm sketchy on the details. But here goes. First option to explore is using RADIUS for VPN access, then TACACS on all the Cisco switches and PIX firewall. That would make it alot easier. I think that with TACACS, you can build a NAR based on TCP port number instead of IP address....
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/secursw/ps2086/products_tech_note09186a0080858d3c.shtml
So you'd have a group with 3-4 Administrators that can access PIX CLI, and another group of VPN users that can't access the PIX but can VPN in. So on the VPN group, put a NAR that restricts access to SSH/Telnet TCP ports?
This comes up everytime I install an ACS server, (every 2-3 years), and it's always a trick.
Please let me know if this works for you. And if it doesn't, let us know how you fixed it. I think I can get back into the ACS I last did this with and take a look, but I'd have to call up and make a special trip.

  • Source list mass blocking of vendor

    dear all,
ply give me transaction code for source list in which i can block vendors.
i have created an LSMW tool also but it creates an double entry in the transaction ME01.
we have even crated BDC but there also same error is occuring.
so is there any other ways for doing mass changes
    regards
    amey

One option is thru ME05 transaction, which is generate source list.
You get a list, there you can filter (e.g. by vendor) and then set block indicator.
Alternative, if you just want block the vendor, then use MK05 and block this vendor for procurement,
And about your LSMW and BDC, you are just not hitting the existing source list records, hence you create new ones. You probably have to enhance the key. Lookup table EORD to see what you may need to hit an existing record.

  • How to listen to iMic in realtime?

I have my Digital Cable box hooked up to my Dell 2005FPW and use in PiP.
I just purchased the iMic from Griffin to allow me to feed the audio through my computer and out through my computer speakers.
The audio however dosent seem to play unless the Final Vinyl program that came with the iMic is loaded and preview is selected.
Obviously, this is not working the way i had hoped as i really just want to use the iMic as a live feed out to my computer speakers, and loading a seperate program in the bg all the time isnt very efficient.
How can i get the iMic to play the live input in realtime without me having to load this program? I checked in Audio Midi Setup, but the option for 'Thru' is greyed out (which is what i assume needs to be checked in order to do what i need)
    Any ideas?

The iMic is just a usb sound device. The in and out jacks work completely independently of each other and depend entirely on you running some software that will play sound. The os plays system sounds, iTunes plays music files, and some software will play what is coming through the in jack on the iMic.
