Qosmio X300 has random 5-10 second freezing and more

I bought my Qosmio X300 in December 2008 and it has been into the authorized repair shop 3 times already. Here is my main problem:
while using programs and/or the internet, the pointing device will freeze. The HDD light is flashing but not solid (but its always like that). Regardless, there is nothing I can seem to do to stop it from freezing. I have followed the advice of tech support and the the authorized tech repair shop and went back to factory install.
Without any added programs installed (other than what came from the factory) it still does this. In one hour it can happen 10-20 times, very frustrating, especially when I am trying to mix music or edit video (which is why i bought it). After spending over 2000$ including an extended warranty, this is really driving me nuts. Even more that the problem cannot seem to be duplicated by the technicians. But I know I am not crazy, it is happening.
Another odd problem which is INCREDIBLY annoying when I am writing an online email is that it will go back a page for no reason. I am not touching anything near the back space and sometimes just the touchpad but not the buttons, but then it goes back and my email is gone gone gone...
Please help suggest anything...

Try disabling the Wireless LAN in Device Manager. Does it still freeze?
Also try updating the BIOS and Display Driver.
When you type, your palm is touching the Touchpad, causing it to modify your document. To avoid this, you can disable Tapping or 'Tapping during Typing' in the Advanced Touchpad settings.

  • Qosmio X300-14N - BSOD if I play games and can't update display driver

    Hi every one,
I bought a Qosmio X300-14N last week in France.
But every time I try to play a game ---almost every game--- I got a nmlddmkm problem with a "video driver has stopped responding and has been recovered" message
I try to update my display driver, but any one I found on the Nv site cannot be installed. Even the link from the Toshiba support.
Then I thought this could be a temperature problem, I download a Nvidia system monitor and try to check the problem, but this made it even worse, every time I double clicked the monitor short cut leads me to a Blue Screen...
I am now completely mad with this computer. Hoping some one can help?
By the way Im using Vista 64
    this is my system
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9000 @ 2.00GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.0GHz
    Memory: 4gb ram
    graohic card:2*geforce9800m gts 512mb

If you haven't done so search Google, Yahoo, etc- the exact error message your seeing. This problem isn't unique to Toshiba, but more so seems to be an issue directly with Nvidia. I have tried all the canned responses, download this, update that and patch everything I could find. Still, the issue still exisits. After about 9mths of off and on problems, at the advice of Toshiba I dropped it off at the local certified repair center. They worked on the thing for 3-4wks and were unable to repair. They went as far as to replace the video card, and mainboard.
After receiveing my un-fixed Qosmio from the repair center I called Toshiba- they informed me that I would have to send it directly to them as to be evaluated by one of there engineers. Basically the answer at this point is don't waste your time on it- ship it directly to them.

how do i find out if the warranty is still valid?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

By reviewing your original purchase documentation and/or contacting your original place of purchase. Warranty is a contractual matter between buyer and seller of the device, established at the time of original purchase...no one else is involved.

  • My Iphone 3G has stopped responding, IOS system freeze, and my home button is broke, how do I fix this system freeze?

I have tried restoring from backup via itunes but it said error occured I cant do anything.. Help mee??

Try plugging it up to your computer and launching iTunes and either resetting it to factory settings or resetting to last sync. Hopefully it just noticing it's plugged up to iTunes will fix it. This happened to my friend once and all she had to do was plug it into her computer and that fixed it.

  • After Update: Dropping Calls, Phone freezes, and more Force Close messages

    Hey everyone,
Just wondering if there is anyone else who has noticed after the update that there has been more dropped calls? Do you chalk it up to the phone trying to switch between 3g and 4g? I normally have my phone on the wifi setting (free wifi on my college campus---saves using my data). Also I've noticed recently that the phone will tend to freeze up once in a while to the point where I have to shut the phone off and reboot.  Also I have been getting more error messages using most (if not all) my applications [Pandora, facebook, games] with the only option to force close the program.
Is there any solutions to these annoying little problems? Trying to have a conversation on the phone is virtually impossible without the connection being dropped (have a record of 6 dropped connections in one conversation).
    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi SV23:
You've listed a number of issues that you are experiencing after the software update, and I would like to help you resolve them.   If the force closes seem random, it's likely due to some corruption of the software post-update. Most people can resolve software-related issues via a factory reset.  This rules out all of the applications that could possibly cause conflictions with the device.  If the phone force closes after a master reset and there are no apps on it, we may need to look into replacement options for the device. You can contact the warranty center directly at 866-406-5154.
Please list any troubleshooting steps that you've completed, and post any updates.
    Thanks,

  • G4-911...freezing and more freezing

my i book crashed after a year and 10 days and apple replaced the hard drive, and it was going strong for quite a while after that but the past few months it has been shutting down programs, especially explorer and itunes, and recently it has been freezing a lot. quite a few times a day, actually. twice when it froze all this writing appeared on the screen in teletype, with a black backround, and most recently when it froze, a dimmed square with the power logo and a demand (in many languages) to restart the computer appeared. i cant afford to lose another computer? is there something i am doing wrong? or is there something other than updates that i should be doing to prevent problems with my ibook? i was told not to download virus protection onto my mac, so...basically...im clueless. help, please?

    Hi Nicole!
No need to panic Your iBook should be OK.
The strange message was a Kernel Panic. This article has more info: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106227.
Kernel panics are mainly caused my hardware issues.
Here's some things to check (please post answers!):
1.) The size of your hard drive and how much space is available
2.)Has extra RAM been installed in your iBook?
3.)How much RAM is currently in the machine? (You can find the answer in the Apple Menu>About this Mac)
4.) Make sure your Airport card (if you have one) is completely connected
Please reply as soon as you can. I'll do my best to get your computer behaving itself

  • IPhone 6 randomly loses iMessage, iCloud connectivity, and more...

My wife's iPhone 6 (iOS 8.1.2) has been experiencing issues since day 1 (over a month).  All issues seem related.  Randomly (every few days), the phone
loses iMessage connectivity with other iOS devices.  Standard text messages work, but no messaging from other Apple devices can be sent or received
loses iCloud connection.  Apple ID can't be validated.
does not appear in "Find my iPhone" in iCloud.  Well, it appears, but shows as "offline"
A reboot fixes all the issues.  My wife, however, generally forgets to reboot her phone (and, frankly, should not have to).
I have had iPhones for a long time, and have been working in IT for over 30 years, so I am no noob.  I have tried every fix mentioned online (reboot/reset network settings/factory restore/etc.) The problem ALWAYS returns.
This is an expensive device and these issues should NOT be happening constantly.  She is getting frustrated and is considering selling this phone (and taking a substantial monetary loss) and going back to Android.
Hoping for any ideas that can stop these constant annoyances.

If she been experiencing this issue since day 1, why didn't you take it back to Apple?

  • Freezing and more

Well i recently put together this system:
    msi k8n neo2
    a64 3500+ 939
    2x 512 corsairs 3200 value sticks
    asus 9800xt
    and 2x120 1x200gb 1x nec 1300a dvd burner
    aspire 500w
and the problem is after reading thrue the forums i see that alot of people are having the same problem but never found a solution (have already updated the bios to 1.3 and all the drivers and all temps looks alright) for it. So my question is if there really are any fixes for this since i dont feel like wasting my time just to reconfig my whole comp just to get something to work that i expect to work when i first get it or to both save time and money return it in and get another MB
also at my first run on this setup i had a audigy2 ZS installed but it all ended out with me ripping it out due crackling noice thrue speakers (onboard sound was turned of and i tried every PCI slot on mb with same result) and there is nothing wrong on the sound card since it works flawless on other systems that i tried it on
so please help me out :/

I found it frustrating that after many years of building Abit PC's for myself and the rest of the family I had all kinds of problems when I upgraded to an Abit AV8. I got all kinds of suggestions to "fix" it but I new this was a "configuration" problem, my combination of hardware wasn't working. I sent the Abit board back, took a hit in the form of a restocking fee and bought the MSI I have now. I've had no problems whatsoever using the same components as I has tried  with the Abit.  Just to remind you that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

  • Qosmio X300-13P issues of Win 7 64bit upgrade

    Hi,
I've upgraded X300-13P up to Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
Since the model somehow not in the Qosmio X300 models list (why???), I found all needed drivers (win7 64 bit, russian) using laptop s/n and drivers filter.
    Now laptop works.
Issues (please, help to resolve some of it):

Unfortunately, it is automatically created after reboot.
How to delete the "eHome" at all - I'm not sure if my laptop has the device?

What should I do to increase?

It's not clear: what does mean "L500 series" - soft, say, for the "Satellite L500-ST2521" is applicable for Qosmio X300? Any model???
And only Flash card for "L500", but native VAP for X300?

  • What chipset does Qosmio X300-14U support?

    Hello
Does anybody khow exacltly what chipset is in the Qosmio x300 14u please?

    Hi
As far as I know the Qosmio X300-14U belongs to the PQX31E series and it has been equipped with the CORE2 EXTREME QX9300 (2.53GHZ) 1066MHZ CPU and with the MCP79-SLI chipset!
The MCP79-SLI is a new mobile nVidia chipset.
I found some important specs of NVIDIA MCP79 Chipset:
    1066MHz FSB Speed
    800MHz DDR2 Memory Support
    1333MHz DDR3 Memory Support
    3 Gbps SATA/eSATA
NVIDIA DriveCache (similar to Intel Turbo Memory)
    Gigabit Ethernet controller
    HD Audio
    TPM 1.2 Security
    20 PCIe 2.0 lanes

  • Qosmio X300-13W or X300-14U? What's the difference?

The X300-13W and X300-14U seem to be exactly the same here: [http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/series/Qosmio-X300-series/1056665/]
But the second is 250 pounds more expensive!!! What makes the difference? ?:|
I've put my order for the x300-13w on hold and I am waiting for your answers to proceed!
    Anyone?

A little late, but I was looking for this kind of info few weeks back. Toshiba sometimes sells both directly and then does the 13U by reseller only.
I contacted Toshiba and they advised there was infect no difference other than one offers 64-bit Vista. In my opinion, and theirs, buying vista 64bit yourself would be cheaper and as Toshiba offers necessary drivers for download it wouldn't be too much of an inconvenience.
I went for the 13W and am happy with the choice. It runs great!

  • Qosmio X300 Shutting Down

Hey all I'm having a problem with my laptop. Every time I try to run a game after about five minutes the laptop completely shuts down. It only started doing this after I installed windows 7. Figuring it was the new windows, I went back to vista but the problem persists.
I've tried everything I can think of but nothing solves the problem. My laptop is a Qosmio X300, with an nVidia Geforce 9400G and a 9800GTS SLI setup
Has anyone else run into this problem? I didn't want to have to take this thing in to get it fixed but my options are dwindling in number.
Thanks in advance for any info anyone has!

I have a Qosmio X300 as well with Windows 7 64bits and I think most video card from laptop overheats when there are intense 3D in the game. e.g Starcraft 2, even if you have a 9700 GTS.
I was having trouble as well. After I played the game 5-10 mins, it auto shut down. Of course I had the 2 things below.
1- You need to remove the dust with air compressed cans.
2- You need a cooling pad like rocketfish, coolmasters, antec, you name it
I did found a solution to my issue. That's what I've done.
3- Make sure to have the latest Nvidia Driver. In order to do this:
Go to Download driver and pick Option 2 so that it automatically finds your driver since Desktop and Laptops are not the same drivers.
4- You need to do the following :
        1-Go to www.guru3d.com/rivatuner/
        2. Install RivaTuner and Run the program.
        3. In the Main tab, click on the arrow next to Customize under Driver Settings to bring up more options then  click System Settings (the first Icon)
        4. In the Overclocking tab, where it says "Force constant performance level" select performance 3D.
        5. Click apply, and reboot the system when prompted.
If for some reason the "Force constant performance level" drop-down is grayed out you will need to go to the "Power users" tab in the initial RivaTuner window. Then click on the "+" next to "RivaTuner \ NVIDIA \ Overclocking". Look for "EnablePerfLevelForcing" and under Value type 1. Click apply, this should allow you to modify "Force constant performance level." Finally, follow steps 3-5 above."
There was a post on Toshiba forum for other model of computers and the post was from DarcMerc.
I want to thank him for saving my day and I hope it will help you all.

  • Qosmio X300-126 - Replacing defective GPU?

    Hi there,
my Qosmio X300-126 stared havign some problems recently and I simply can't use nvidia drivers anymore (may they be provided by toshiba or directly from nvidia. The laptop manages to display something only in "standard VGA mode"
what's more, there are some artefacts on first screen (when you can go into the BIOS setup), so, overzall, it seems that the GPU is, at least, partly damaged (and may be completely dead soon.
I called the toshiba support center, and they told me I had to send them the laptop for a diagnosis, which would cost me 90 (no warranty anymore, since it's over 2 years old) and if the GPU is to be replaced, I'll get a pricing for a new part.
I've been looking on various bourds on the net and all people that experienced similar situation were asked to pay something like 1000 for repairs (which basically means, don't repair and buy another laptop).
I've been repairing PC's for a living for some time, and there are tutorials to open and disassemble these laptops on the net... so I was wondering:
is there any chance that toshiba agrees to sell a part "as is" for me to replace it myself? the part as such costs quite less (I've been given "around 150" price range) and in such case, it would be a possibility to consider rather than simply binning the thingy (or keeping/selling it for parts

toshiba uses specific parts, making anything generic incompatible (so one can't get repair parts from other places on the net
one funny thing, though: toshiba suport told me the vid card was soldered to the mobo (which isn't true...
before spending any money, I just may try the "oven" repair.. putting the part int the oven around 200 in case there's just a bad soldering contact between the GPU and the MXM card... you never know, as it seems the same weakness comes often, maybe is it due to the fact the laptop is moved often, and suffers vibrations etc...
    we'll see soon enough :)
