Quality of phones

hi hello dear nokia my name is sateesh kumar i am from india.presently i work in kuwait as a mobile sales man.
i have one doubt in india all nokia mobiles made by nokia, but in kuwait nokia models made in FINLAND,HUNGERY,GERMANY.why, what is the different between this.
i have reason ask this question, becasue in india market had bad opnion on the nokia company made by nokia mobile all are duplicate, made in finland, hungery, germany models is original.i think this is very bad name for nokia company.

Nokia has many different factories all over the world because of the number of handsets that it produces.
It's irrelevant which factory they are made at. They are produced from the same plans using the same components and the same type of machinery.
People have been spreading false information for years about different factories producing better or worse models.
One thing that you do have to be aware of is that a lot of counterfeit phones have flooded the markets, especially in Asia and the Middle East. These phones claim to be made by Nokia, or Chinese versions but they are not real and lack many features. They also do not have a nokia operating system.

  • Any hope for quality basic phones?

I'm out of contract, just got done browsing for a basic replacement phone and am disappointed with the current offerings. I feel that was marketing and intended. I've been a Verizon Wireless customer since 2001 and I was grandfathered in once they bought Alltel. I like to use Verizon because I get good reception in my area on their voice network and many of my family and friends use the service, so we have free mobile-to-mobile calls and texts. I say free, but I consider it a bargaining chip that came as part of the fee in the plan that I pay for every month.
I do not want a "smart phone" my lifestyle doesn't need or desire it. I have computers at work and home and all my typical haunts, I don't want to carry around an additional Internet device in my pocket (yes I know basic phones can access the net too in a limited way, for a premium). Being constantly online isn't desirable to me. I don't want to be GPS tracked, or browse the Internet on a tiny little phone screen. I like my old voice and text plan, the price is right. I'm not inclined to pay at least an extra $30/month to start a service that I don't want and just open the door for data overage fees - Just to have a decent phone! It's a despicable and ethically embarrassing corporate strategy.
So without getting into the profit motivations for phasing out basic service plans by only offering smartphones, why can't we have:
    Long battery life
    modern tablet style ergonomics
    decent reliable OS
    possible wi-fi if desired
    Good camera and flash
rugged enough to last at least the duration of a 2-year contract with normal wear
    Good sound quality and antenna
Technologically we already nailed it, have been there a long time but instead you try to force us to commit to these expensive bells and whistles many of us don't need or request. In this day and age I feel that basic phone service is a need, so why not do it right and excel at it? You probably don't make as much money off of it, but I'm still happy to pay like I have been if you would just sell a reasonable device for me to use. I'm tired of being made to feel like a second class citizen in the Verizon store with my old flip phone because I just want options, and my requests are fundamental, only basic service and good performance with my phone.

    That tired old argument?
I don't buy this supply side excuse. All these phones are useless without a service provider. Most are locked to providers. The manufacturers sell what the buyers want and the real buyers are the carriers, who then resell to the consumer.  The carriers want to pay the leases on their new networks and maximize profits, so they need data plans. Many consumers want these features and many do not (jaymeson). My gripe is with the quality of Verizon's non-data plan phones sliding backwards...
In my business, satisfied repeat customers are the majority of clients. Did Verizon not make profit before the smartphone hype? Verizon is diversified and very large, they tend to trample the individual consumer and it's their way or the highway. I had an experience in what was called a "corporate" verizon store yesterday. I wanted to evaluate my plan and make sure they had count my promotional minutes. The new alert system I learned is based off only your plan minutes and so before knowing that I got nervous when texts came in that said that I was reaching my allotment early. I thought they dropped my promo. I went into the store to sort this out face-to-face. It was quiet, there were three salesmen standing in the corner twisting their thumbs and doing nothing while I waited half an hour to be seen by someone. After authenticating me with my account, supposedly they couldn't pull my plan up on their computer and rudely kept pounding the mantra that I had to call customer service! Total waste of my time.
I've ended up ditching Verizon and ordering a nice new out-of-contract smartphone (best bang for buck feature-wise) and it should be here in a couple days. I'm activating on a different network, not as expensive or fast, but I don't need the download speed perks and will block most of it. The prepaid as suggested by Weth provides the freedom that I want. I'm only remaining on Verizon until I get the new phone in to activate and port over my number. If I like it the business contract phones will follow.
I'm going to consider this thread closed. I learned there is NO hope for quality basic phones on verizon. Thanks for participating.

  • The worst call quality i phone.

I bought the phone 3 days. But call quality over ten years with the same phone.
I keep dialing your friends will be lost in the middle. Or phone dropped in the middle.
It is very difficult to call. Another feature is good, but it does not look a call is the most important features.
Please improve call quality. I want to smooth call.

To phrase what the previous poster said a little more politely, you may want to take the phone back. You may have gotten one that was defective. This is a user-to-user forum so you're not speaking directly to Apple here. Do you have an Apple Store near you? If so, make am appomtment at the Genius Bar for technical assistance.

  • Nokia Phones quality and support

We have 60+ Nokia phones C, E , N series. The quality of phones and quality of support drops down in past 2 years significantly. I will not buy those devices anymore... Looks like Nokia company would like to go into bancrupcy with that style of work. Congratulation to Nokia management.... Good job

support provided at local nokia care centres has always been questionable. Now since the launch of their C and X series the quality of the products has also dropped to low.Esp with S60V5 phones.

  • Why is a pre-order phone no longer allowed to be shipped to my work address??

On Friday, April 4, I went into my local Verizon Store (Orlando MetroWest) to pre-order the new Samsung Galaxy S5.  The order was placed and I was given a copy of the receipt which looked very accurate.  The sales rep had read back to me the Bill To and Ship To address in the store, and it was correct, but didn't show up on the receipt given.  When the confirmation e-mail came to me, I noticed that the Ship To info had my company name, and an address, but my name appeared nowhere on it.  I called to question this when the store opened on April 7, and all of the answers were "I don't know.  I'll have to research and get back to you."  When there were no calls returned I checked again and received the same response.  When I left my office for the day, I still had zero answers.
I drove to the same local store and re-hashed what I'd tried to accomplish during the morning.  I was told there was no way to amend the shipping label once the order was input, despite the fact NO orders for this phone have yet to be fulfilled, since they are still in the warehouse.  I work in a nine story building with every single office working for the same global company.  There is no chance whatsoever that the FedEx delivery would ever make it to me without my name being on the label.  I don't even think FedEx would try.  It was just foolishness at the time the order was originally input (by the Verizon Store).
During the morning there was mention of possibly cancelling the entire order and starting from scratch, which I was totally OK with, as even that delay would be quicker than someone signing for the box and it sitting God Knows Where for days/weeks.  When I said we should re-visit that option, I was now informed that it is a "Verizon Policy" to avoid fraud and NO pre-order phone could be delivered to any address except the account address of the phone owner.  That was surprising to hear since it had been done (albeit incorrectly) just a couple of days earlier.  The answer to that was, "Oh, she made a mistake in trying a work-around".  Since I was recording our complete interaction (love that feature on my current phone), I asked manager Mike to verify a third time that he could not send a phone to my office address where I am during FedEx hours, and I could not adjust the existing order to come to the store for pickup.  The answers were No and No.
My last two Verizon phones were shipped to my office, but I do understand that some company policies do change.  I just think this is a doofus change.  I also think it was pretty foolish for the original sales rep to miss putting a person's name on the shipping label.  I have trouble believing that the computer order system would even allow her to make that mistake.  But Verizon is in phone sales exclusively and not in the corporate shipping business.  Perhaps this is some needed training.

    Epilogue:
My problem has been solved, and I'm now happy to have my pre-order of the new Samsung Galaxy device completed in a way that totally satisfies me.  But I am kicking myself for not going this route in the first place.  I won't make that mistake again in the future FOR SURE.
After the manager in the local Verizon Store (Orlando MetroWest) said there was nothing he/they could do to overcome the error made earlier by their store sales representative, because it was a pre-order and nothing can be changed/corrected for the initial input.  They had failed to put my name on the shipping label requested for FedEx delivery, meaning that the box containing my phone would probably NEVER reach my hands once if was delivered to a nine-story office building with many many employees.
I simply went to my local BestBuy store and mentioned I had a very few questions to be answered prior to attempting to place a pre-order of my new Samsung phone.  I asked if the phone could be set for delivery to my office and the answer was a quick YES.  I asked if the phone could be set for pickup at the BB store and, again, the answer was a quick YES.  They were initially surprised to hear that any company would say otherwise. BestBuy requires a photo ID when they take a phone order, and a signature is required when FedEx makes its delivery, so they assured me the Verizon "Fraud Policy" quoted to me was not a standard retail answer AT ALL.  Thirteen minutes after I walked to the mobile phone department, I was walking out with all my confirmation details for a new phone.  The purchase was less out-of-pocket since BB doesn't do that VZW arrangement of paying $50 extra and then getting that back as a mail-in rebate later.  Seems no other carrier except VZW is charging that extra fee for this new device.  On top of that savings, BB gives you a $10 gift card just for doing the pre-order with them.  Bonus!!
I may (or may not) receive my phone a few days later than those ordering at the Verizon Store, but in my situation I was assured to get mine late due to the shipping label error.  No matter what, I'm going to be pleased with my purchase, and BestBuy just earned additional respect with the way they accurately handled my Verizon purchase.  VZW it still a quality mobile phone provider, but (in my personal opinion) they are extremely weak in the guest service side of the business . . . which almost negates those other positive things.

This is a user to user help forum only so no one here can answer regarding what AppleCare or an Apple Store will do in this situation. Every warranty claim is on a case by case basis. If a fellow user tells you - sure Apple will exchange your iPhone and Apple doesn't exchange it due to the accidental damage, what you are told here carries no weight in this regard.

  • Disappointed in the quality of my Replacement

I love my Kin TWOm & I feel like its a really nice phone but does have bugs. Well anyways my current phone was defective & had a few issues so I sent in for a replacement & got the replacement within 2 days. Here is my complaint so maybe verizon will see this. Ive already called about the issue but I feel like I wanted to make it public
I got a Brand new Kin TWOm as part of my upgrade & it needed to be replaced. Here is my problem. When you send out a replacement at least make sure its the same quality as a new phone. I know its a replacement but **bleep** the Quality of the replacement KIN you sent me was horrible
    the things that irritated me
    1. The phone was absolutely filthy. Dirt in the screws in the back where the battery goes & just dirt really all over the phone
    2. In the front of the phone below the touch screen it looked like some once had some sort of sticker there & was peeled off. It took forever to get the sticker glue off the phone without scratching it.
It took around 30 minutes to clean the phone  but once cleaned it really does look brand new. Overall satisfied that I got a new phone but not happy with the quality that it came in. A customer should never have to take time to clean a phone that is supossed to be replaced.

I can honestly tell you that #5 & $9 on this phone was a huge failure. Who ever sent this phone out must have been completely blind because this phone was filthy & I wish I would of taken pictures of its condition. I am disappointed still on the quality the phone came in. Even now that I have cleaned this phone to pretty much spotless I should have just returned it. Its sad to think that I ordered a Brand new phone & I am stuck with a phone that came in a filthy condition & God knows how long this phone was abused for.
    1. The phone is power cycled up to nine times.
    2. Receives at least two manual functional tests.
    3. Electronically function-tested four times.
    4. The phone is checked for/cleared of any possible customer information at least twice, as well as passes numerous other quality checks.
    5. Visual Cosmetic Inspection
    6. Functional Inspection
    7. Computerized Radio Frequency Testing
    8. Functional Repair and Reconditioning
    9. Cosmetic Repair and Reconditioning
    10. Computerized Software Updates
    11. Computerized Customer Information Check and Clear

  • Poor sound quality after update on iPhone4 to iOS6

Any one with the same problem ?
After upgrading to iOS 6 on my iPhone 4, the sound quality during phone calls is very poor.
The other side is ok with listening.
The phone is not modified (unlocked and oth....)
    Any advice is welcome !
    Thanks !

Work in a professional studio and often use my itunes from my iphone 4gs to record sounds and samples. I have notice since the iso 6 update there is very poor quality sound coming from my phone now. It's seems the bit quality is very poor also the volume. I also noticed the songs are using way more power from the phone while playing.... Apple should really address these issues...a lot of  loyal costumers, such as myself use Apple products in the music industry everyday. We have grown to expect certain standards and quality from Apple products and it seems you are taking steps backwards not forwards.

  • Song quality question.

so as im playing some songs, doesnt really matter the quality really, it seems the songs level "wobbles" as it plays, as in, sometimes it sounds full, others it sounds muffled, almost as if somone is messing with the volume the whole time haha anyone else notice this? is it due to crappy quality? or do i have something else set wrong? its very annoying, it isnt just my speakers either, iv run the songs through external speakrs, burnt cds and played on studio quality head phones, i dont get it. i thought maybe it might be how it was recorded, maybe the levels were peaking, and evened out, not sure. any advice would be great.
    thanks in advance

Perhaps this definition will be more clear. If not, you might want to look for a good book on how computers work.
I sometimes import the songs from my CDs using "Apple Lossless." Does this mean it is exactly the same bit rate as the CD, and if so, does it take away from the bit rate if you import it in other ways?
Apple Lossless is a compressed format, but unlike most other compressed formats (such as MP3, AAC, and WMA), data is not thrown away when the track is played back. So the net result is quality that is identical (at least in measurable terms) to that of the original CD. If you use another import format with compression (again, AAC, MP3), those are what are called "lossy" compression formats, where data is thrown away during compression. Those formats will result in quality lower than that of the original CD: how much lower will depend on the compression ratio (expressed as a data rate of kilobits per second in iTunes and most other audio applications).
    2. Why do you think that audio quality will stay the same for a while? If we are allowed to store more data on CDs in the future, wouldn't it make sense to offer better quality songs to go along with the larger storage capacity?
Strictly market forces. The vast majority of the market seems quite happy with CD quality - heck, many people seem happy with markedly inferior low-bit-rate MP3 tracks - hence the very limited acceptance of the superior quality of DVD Audio. In addition, for the delivery medium to offer significantly higher quality, the quality of recording equipment also has to rise, which is a very expensive proposition. Therefore, unless there's significant market pressure for higher-quality playback formats, it's unlikely that we'll see such products appear except perhaps as niche markets as it the case with DVD-A.
    Regards.

  • Audio quality gone south after upgrade

i got my bb 8520 in October 2009, the audio quality on phone calls was absolutely perfect and far better than previous normal cell phones (this is my first smartphone).  A few months ago (i am writing this in October 2010) i plugged my bb into my pc and was told there was a operating system upgrade available - i can't remember the version it upgraded to, but the upgrade from a software ease of use and visual perspective has been well worth it - BUT since then the audio/sound quality of phone calls is absolutely horrendous and sometimes i cannot hear the person on the other side - it now sounds like the speaker in the phone cannot handle the volume (that sort of problem), but the volume is on the lowest level, bass and treble are on normal etc - i have spent hours on the phone trying different options, but the problem persists.
    please help me!

Hello jed-sa and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
I would suggest doing a clean software reload. KB11320 will show you how to do this reload.
Be sure you back up your BlackBerry before starting as all user data will be deleted.
After the reload completes, test without restoring any data.
It is suggested to do a selective restore of data so the issue doesn't reoccur. KB10339 will show you how to do the advanced restore using Desktop Software 5.0.1. KB23680 will show you using 6.0 Desktop Manager.
Let me know how you make out.
Thanks! And have a great day

  • Sound quality decline in calls

After upgrading to 3.0 (in Italy, Vodafone) I'm experiencing a dramatic decline in sound quality during calls. While the signal icon is always full, the sound is "metal" and intermittent and my callers report very bad sound quality and difficult to understand words.
    Has somebody the same experience?
    Stefano

I have same issue. My new iPhone 3G S (US/ATT) sound quality on phone call is very poor. Lots of hissing noise, sometimes even it feels as though there is a small waterfall in the background. Deeply disappointed with this issue right now and in Iphone 3G s !

  • Open Letter to Nokia - What I love about my Nokia ...

    Hello every one..
There's always something to rant about so I decided to post here in the hopes that Nokia took notice of what they're also doing very well and build upon that.
    1) Nokia N8 size, it's so very well balanced, I can browse, taking pictures and using apps yet doesn't destroy by pocket like most other smart phones do.
    2) Camera, whatever else there may be to complain about Nokia you gave me a fully usable camera under most circumstances as such my mind was set on the Nokia N8
    3) FM Transmitter and superior Bluetooth, I remember last Christmas, my friend had and his iPhone had a Canon camera with him, I took my pictures on the N8 of course and I played Christmas songs on the radio for every one whilst his iPhone sat there on the table of no use all shiny but untouched. Bluetooth has never sound so good and reached so far as with the 905i from Nokia, space out and chill out.
    4) Ruggedness; I've dropped my N8 at least 4 times now and once at an airport on the tiles where I was checking in. The phone actually bounched back into the air like 20 cm and I cought it in the air. I thought, whow, now something went wackidy but to my surprise I couldn't even find a scratch!?
    5) The extreme practically of a well balanced device: Here's one that takes a larger view. FM Transmitter, REAL camera and HD movies (Bigscreen!!), corporate and private email and OVI Maps in a nice package that fits into my pocket.
Taking the large view the N8 kicks @zz, yes it lags sometimes and yes iPhone email looks a little nicer and yes Android something etc. BUT no phone out there will allow you to take pictures of your own wedding or any important event in good enough quality except the N8. You can go on a road trip and play your tunes in the car without an adapter and you'll never get lost and you never have to check tourist info again cause the phone has it all!
So I don't care if it lags a little here or there because the N8 has saved me money as I didn't have to upgrade my old Canon but it brought me all the above in a nice little rugged package that looks sleeker and cooler then any other phone out there.
Thanks Nokia, keep up the great work!
PS. My brother dropped an iPhone for an N8, he got fed up forgetting his Olympus at all the important sporting events he's got to attend to.
    Simon
    N8 User.

I have used Nokia phones since 1994 with a short migrate to other makes from time to time but I ALWAYS come back to Nokia...the phones are easy to use......easy to navigate.
I now have a Nokia N8 and absolutely LOVE it...I have had only one problem (can't use phone when charging from standard outlet (bottom of phone)...using micro USB and PC USB all is fine).
Before I purchased my N8 I was talked into buying a Sony Experia 10i in the shop mainly by cost (nrly half that of N8) but also cos I was told the N8 had to be online 24/7 to work....well I purchased it on the Sat afternoon and was back in the shop 1st thing Monday to exchange for the N8 and have not looked back.
I have  2 friends with new iphones that they wanted to show off...when they then looked at my N8 they were amazed....and were GUTTED as they are stuck in a 2 yr contract!
Well done Nokia....keep up the good work....publicity wise times may not be good but remember you are the world leader in good quality innovated phones...well made and robust in most situations and do not have to rely on eyecandy to sell phones.......you actually put meaningful phones at our disposal and your reputation for this is 2nd to none.
    Well that's my tuppence worth!

If you are still unable to access any content please contact us via Telstra 24x7 or Telstra Technical Support on 13 22 00
If you swap your Foxtel on T-Box service to a new device, your Foxtel Go service is not affected as it is associated to your BigPond username and password, and not the T-Box device.
When trying to make a second device change within a month the de-register' button will be greyed out, preventing the change.
Current channel rights only allow Foxtel Go to be registered on 3 devices per Foxtel Account. For Foxtel on T-Box customers, the T-Box counts as your 3rd device.
The parental control function is specific to Foxtel Go and managed in the app via the settings icon. To access parental control:

Some locations offer Wi-Fi hotspots where you can log onto the internet for free. e.g. McDonalds, Starbucks, etc. Any data charges incurred are charged to the business and not to you. When connected to Wi-Fi, you'll see a Wi-Fi symbol on your device.
Foxtel from Telstra customers with a Foxtel iQ or iQHD set top box can Remote Record and send a channel change to their set top box. Unfortunately this functionality is not available to Foxtel on T-Box customers.
You can pause and rewind the last 30 minutes of Live TV, even if you've just changed to that channel. Due to device restrictions users of Samsung Android devices are unable to use this feature.
Foxtel Go is a streaming video service. Streaming means that images and sound are delivered live to your device to view when you press Play, rather than being downloaded to your device to view at a later time.
Games you'd normally see on Foxtel from Telstra or Foxtel on T-Box on FOX SPORTS 3 are broadcast on Foxtel Go on the Footy Play Plus channel
There are no Catch Up of AFL games or magazine shows on Foxtel Go due to content restrictions.
The key symbol indicates that a channel isn't part of your package. You need to upgrade your Foxtel from Telstra or Foxtel on T-Box package to watch it. We may be required to block out specific programming from time to time, e.g. if a channel doesn't have the legal right to broadcast the programme over the internet. However, all live channels are the same as channels you watch through Foxtel from Telstra or Foxtel on T-Box.
The vast majority of the Foxtel on T-Box content is available via Foxtel Go. There are some minor exceptions. MTV Music and MTV Dance channels are not available. FOOTY PLAY and FOOTY PLAY+ (overflow) channels are not available on PC and Mac only.
Access to Foxtel Go is included in your Foxtel on T-Box and Foxtel from Telstra subscription. However, you will incur data charges when accessing the service on a 3G/4G network.

  • Is this an iPhone or AT&T issue?

I'm getting mixed impressions from both Apple and AT&T on this, so thought I'd ask on here and see what the consensus is with a few issues I have.
    1. Volume is too low, even at max volume. Probably an iPhone issue, I think. If so, is this something they can fix with a software upgrade or is the quality of the speaker not good enough to go higher without loss of sound quality?
    2. Sound quality of phone calls is not good. I switched from Sprint, who I was with for 5 years. They had a nice, robust signal. The person sounded like there were close, very clear sound. With the iPhone (or AT&T), calls sound somewhat distant and break up fairly often. I'm in New Orleans, so I would think that service here should be pretty decent, even post-Katrina. I've had 2 calls drop already, on the network that claims to have the fewest dropped calls. And dropped randomly, not going through a tunnel or in an elevator. Standing out in the open in my backyard actually. I also get a lot of noise and not only do callers sound far away and very thin/tin can like, but it also often breaks up and the signal will cut in and out requiring me to have the caller repeat things.
I feel really disappointed in this respect. The phone is great, I love it in general, but having been with Sprint for 5 years, I guess I got a little spoiled, because the call quality was leaps and bounds better than what I have now.

Yes, I reset it initially because it locked up on me about 5 minutes into use. It's been working fine since then, but the volume and signal quality is just weak. I was actually in Orlando over the weekend with it and had the same lousy signal quality that I have here in New Orleans. It stinks, because I really love this phone otherwise. I can find very little to complain about and certainly nothing that software updates won't "correct". It exceeds my expectations, but man... this signal quality and volume is maddening.
