Query Design - Keyfigure attribute in the calculation

Hi,
I have an infoObject with "Standard Balance" (a key figure) as an attribute. InfoObject has been added to the InfoCube.
In my InfoCube I have another Keyfigure called "Actual balance".
Now, in the query I would like to check the difference between the two (Actual Balance - Standard Balance). If this difference is positive, then I would like to display the row, else, I don't want to display it at all...
Any suggestions/ideas are appreciated.

1- to capture the KF-attribute in the query, create a formula variable of type replacement path (go into the formula designer and create a new formula.. it's pretty straightforward)

2- the create a CKF or formula to calculate the difference between the 2
3- use a condition to filter on your new CKF/formula from step 2 to show only the rows where this calculation is positive

3.5 Query Designer has 'row' in the footer of results but 7.0 has 'page' is there a way to change 7.0 to have 'row' instead of 'page'? We would prefer to see how many rows of data we have. I didn't know if this was a parameter they may be able to be changed.

I donot think there is way to display Row instead of Page.
Also in 7.0. It is based on cells.

Setting in Query Designer to close all the levels in hierarchy

Hi,
I got a hierarchy with upto 8 Levels.
In Query Designer i had a Selection Restrictions on hierarchy,I selected few nodes (each will have upto 7 level).
When i execute the report the first node is expanding upto the Level 7 and other nodes are stay close...
I checked and tried all the setting Expand to level 0....etc
Its not working.
How can i achive
When the user executes the report...data will be dispayed and all the restricted nodes will be displayed as closed...and option to the user to expand.

Thanks for the Update...
Go to RSH1 transaction. Go to your Hierarchy. Choose your hierarchy in change mode press Hierarchy attributes buttion. Enter 00 as drilldown start level in the new dialog appearing when your press Hierarchy attributes button.
It worked..but not for 00....it worked for '01'.
Could you please explain me in bit detail what is the functionality of that setting...

How to get the query design element meaning with the technical name ?

In BI 7.0 query designer, we got error msg in Transport Connection like:
Object 41PPHH3DICYQ56L2XJGXDRSMT is already being
edited by user_id
Choose 'Display object' or 'Cancel'.
How to check what design element is for 41PPHH3DICYQ56L2XJGXDRSMT? And what could cause the above error?

You can collect the query and its elements in the transport connection. The under the technical name you will find this and the element.

NetWeaver 2004s - Query Designer - Assign Attributes to characteristic

Dear specialists,
I try to find out, how I can restrict the attributes to the characteristics.
I have only the opportunity to restrict values or value variables.
This problem comes up with the new 2004s Release.
Are there other ways to restrict the atrributes to their characteristics

Hello Osman,
To make a Characteristics a Navigational Attribute,
- First identify the infoProvider for the Query, then
- Logon to your BW Back-end system (Not Bex Analyzer), execute transaction code RSA1, click on InfoProvider under "Modelling", locate your query infoprovider and double click on it to change it or right-click to display context menu and click on "Change".
- Open up the "NavAttribute", locate your characteristic and in the third column (i.e "On/Off" column), switch on the Navigational attribute by checking the box in front of the characteristic. Save your changes.
You can then go back to Bex Analyzer.

Query Designer: Am I on the right Forum?

This is regarding query issue.

Kindly tell me where should i post this kind of issue.
BTW, below is my issue. I'm finding it hard resolving the defect.
Needs advice on this issue.
The user wants a record for a certain organization.
He/she input all the required parameters.
Let's say:
Business leader ID: XXX01
Begin date: 2010, 2011
End date: 2010, 2011
Status: Active
After executing the report, it returns all of the necessary data records.
But when he click on variable screen or change selection, then changes "ONLY" the Business leader ID.
It goes:
Business leader ID: XXY02
Begin date: 2010, 2011
End date: 2010, 2011
Status: Active
No Applicable Data were returned.
User closes the report the reopen.
He initially entered again with the second ID, parameters now are initially:
Business leader ID: XXY02
Begin date: 2010, 2011
End date: 2010, 2011
Status: Active
Then necessary records were returned.
Question: why is it not returning any data records when he/she change the Business leader ID?
That problem arises only when Business Leader ID was being changed.
But when he/she change selection and change the filter on Begin Date, End Date, Status, the report still provide the data.
The report is not refreshing only when Business Leader ID was being changed.

See, on the external, I can't have three folders that all say iTunes music folder, each one belonging to a different user.
Sure you can. Put them in separate folders (John's music, Mary's music and Sam's music).
But you should be creating new iTunes folders, not simply iTunes music folders. The iTunes music folder is in the iTunes folders but so it the iTunes library file.
Any reason you want the music separated? You can put it all in one library. Everyone uses the same and simply create a playlist of the music they want. This way, if you have any of the same music, you won't have it on the computer more than once.

Query Designer - Key Figures on the Rows

Hi experts,
I inserted in a query the key figures into the rows.
I would like to see on the report the "KEY" of these key figures and not the "TEXT", but I can't find a way to do that.
Can anyone help me?

I developed the couple of reports but iam able to see the text in char and can u tell me where is the option to see key and text for keyfigure.if not is not theere explanin little bit and busines requirement

Query Designer is not picking the host:port

We have installed BI 7.0 on Netweaver 2004s alongwith BI Java. When we run a query and execute it does not pick the hostname:port but come as

Japnese yen is maintained in units of 100. Check the entry in TCURX table for Yen. That is why the value is getting multiplied by 100 and getting displayed.
JPY (Japanese Yen) and others have a 0 in the TCURR-CURRDEC field which means 0 decumals. SAP applications will process amounts in these currencies by dividing the input value by 100 for storing in tables. Then, when being displayed, it will do a conversion exit and multiply the stored table value by 100 to show the correct amount.
SAP stores currency values in a data type that has a fixed interpretation of two decimal places. There are some currencies that do not work well with that setting. Usually that is because for some currencies , a fraction o the currency unit is meaningless. That is true of the Japanese Yen, the Turkish Lira, Korean Won and many other currencies whose value is often 10 US cents or less.
Here's a full explanation of the decimal issue in SAP. It is not just
limited to BW but is a system-wide situation.
1. By default there are two decimals on the data base, e.g. 123.45
2. When there is no corresponding entry in TCURX, these two decimals
are displayed in the query.
3. When there is an entry in TCURX, it determines the division factor
when reporting. (default = 2)
Example TCURX = NO ENTRY: Database entry = 123.45
There is no division
The above number is displayed as 123.45
Example TCURX = 3: Database entry = 123.45
There is a division by 10 (because 3 - 2 = 1).
The above number is displayed as 12.345.
example INR currency.
Example TCURX = 0 Database entry = 123.45
There is a division by 0.01 OR Multiplication by 100

Master data is not getting displayed in the Query Designer

Hi,
I have a DSO in which I have an InfoObject called Emp No. in the Data Field.
The Emp.No is being maintained as master with (Emp Name, Address, Telephone No, DOB) as attributes.
I have loaded the data in the Emp. No. master. Then tried loading the transaction data in DSO.
The Emp.No is there in the DSO active data, but in the query designer its not getting displayed.

I have done a full load for both Master and Transaction.

Some users can't see attributes in the Query Builder

Hi.
I have problem. Some users can't see some of attributes of info-object in the Query Designer. Where is the problem?

I think you would need to give more details on the problem,
as some users are not able to see some attributes.
Do they all share the same profile, what is the distinguishing thing among the some users who can see the attributes and the ones who cannot see the attributes.
Need to drill down further I guess.

Different in viewing the query in query designer and bex analyzer in BW Prd

hello...i transported the query from bw dev into bw prod successfully. when i view the query using query designer in prod, the query is the same copy of query in bw dev and QA but when i view the same query under the bex analyzer in prod, the query is not the same.
the correct query should be able to see 3 mandatory variable input but when i view it under the bex analyzer, only 1 mandatory variable can be seen here. Whereas when i view it under query designer, i can see the 3 mandatory variable being define there. And this query is assigned in one of the role as well.
any idea on this? thanks!!!

i checked in rsrt in sap, the personalization of the variable is not in yellow color, i can see the 3 variable in bex analyzer but the other 2 variable which is a mandatory field input for that query appear as optional variable input instead of the mandatory field input...

CKF in BEx Query Designer

I have following scenario in Query Designer:
There is only one characteristic Material in row and 3 calculated Key figures in column Price (Current Year), Price (Current Year -1), Price (Current Year -2). The User gives the current year as Input Variable. It works so far fine.
Query Output looks like:
MATERIAL | PRICE (CURENT Y) | PRICE (CURRENT Y-1) | PRICE (CURRENT Y-2)

You can see that at least one value of PRICE Current Year/Current Year-1/Current Year-2 per Material is always filled. All Prices are in EUR.
Now my requirement is that I have to build a new Calculated Key Figure in Query designer which should calculate the minimum value of PRICE Current Year/Current Year-1/Current Year-2 per Material.
The new Query Output should look like this:
MATERIAL | MINIMUM (PRICE CURRENT Y to CURRENT Y-2)
1234 |10
2345|10
3456|12
4653|12
7564|2
6452|8
7362|7
I have tried to use Mathematic Function MIN but couldnu2019t get success as few cells are empty. So I cannot use function MIN. When I add empty cell with 0 then the minimum value calculates incorrect. It only works when all 3 cells are filled. How I can solve this problem in Query Designer?

Heading for Different Types in Query designer

We have three different types Direct, Indirect and Others. Where Indirect and Others are fixed values and Direct types are dynamic which are getting from ECC.
So they are expecting heading before each type and result according to these types.
Tried so many options but not able to achieve the desired result as expected in Query Designer.
Please find the attached document for desired output
Please provide some inputs how can we achieve at the report level.

Structures are objects that you define in the BEx Query Designer. You can define reusable structures as well. they form the basic framework of a report. You can have maximum of 2 structures in a query. In such case you cannot have the same KeyFigure in both the structures.
You can also define a structure for a Characteristic.

Limitations of Structures usage
You can have maximum of two structures only ... One for kfs and one for characteristics..A characteristic can't be included in a KF structure and a KF can'be included in a characteristic structure...
We can't have 2 KF structures but we can have 2 Char Structure or 1 KF Structure and 1 Char Structure.

I had enhaced Account assign group field in the data source 0material_attr.Replicated and data is loaded .
It is reflecting in the query also.
Now i need to bring this attribute in the selection screen.
Can anyone tell me how to bring this attribute in the selection screen..

Hi Ganesh.
The communication structure of a characteristic is based on the characteristic structure/attributes. So to add anything to the comm.str. you have to do this in the maintenance of the characteristic as you did.
However it is not enough just to add it to the detail/navigational attributes tab. You have to turn the attribute navigational by pressing the navigational attribute on/off button!
Do you use 0MATERIAL directly as an infoprovider to the query? If not you will have to choose the AAG as navigational again in the infoprovider maintenance!
Now drag and drop the AAG in the query designer (you will see the navigational attributes as a normal characteristic - propably with tech.name 0MATERIAL__ZAAG). Now right click and choose "restrict" -> variables tab -> right click -> new variable -> create the variable -> add it to the selection and you are done.
