Quiz issue on LMS

Hi all.
I really hope someone can help - I have been haunted by this
problem for weeks now!
I have created my first quiz on Captivate 3. When I launch it
on LMS as soon as I click on the first question I get a pop up
message saying: is this the end of your learning activity? Click
yes to exit or cancel.
I have reviewed my quiz property and set up hundreds of
times! Is this and issue within Captivate 3?
Thank you so much for a reply.
Opunthia

Not sure which version of SumTotal you are using, but this
has worked well for me using SumTotal 7.2 and Captivate 3 (SCORM
1.2).
The SCORM.htm file is a template file that Captivate uses
each time your project is published. If we make changes to this
file, it will affect all future projects we publish. If you follow
these steps correctly, we can replace the original SCORM.htm, with
another one that will prevent the premature "end of activity"
message, until the user clicks the exit button from within your
captivate project.
Step 1: Back up this file (just in case).
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate
3\Templates\Publish\SCORM.htm
Step 2: Edit the original SCORM.htm file.
Right click on the SCORM.htm file. Choose 'Open With' and
select "Notepad' (or your preferred HTML editor).
Delete the existing code, and paste the new code into it.
(See bottom of my post)
Step 3: Save the file, and publish your project.
And we are done! Save the SCORM.htm file and close it, launch
Adobe Captivate 3 and publish your project!
It is very important that the exit button from within Captivate
is used. You must use a "skin" in Captivate 3, so that there is
an exit button. Using the Close button from within Internet
Explorer will cause your results to not be sent to the SumTotal
LMS.
As long as you make it very clear at the end of your project
which exit button to use, it shouldn't be a problem.

  • Adobe Presenter 8 Quiz issues

We're having issues with the way quizzes are acting in SCORM packages created with Presenter 8. Users are having the quiz freeze and unable to answer, some questions are already marked wrong when they start the quiz, and some questions (particularly matching questions) display incorrectly. We are using Moodlerooms Joule as our LMS. Any ideas?

I was having similar problem. So many that I gave up on the quizzes altogether.

  • Export Quiz/Tutorial Data (LMS?)

    Hi,
I have purchaed a copy of breeze presenter (no access to the
breeze server) and would like to incorporate the breeze content
into a e-learning section of a web application that is running on
    ASP.Net/SQL Server 2000.
I have read that Breeze presenter exports/ communicates
results & stats (not sure how) in SCORM or AICC format. I
understand that these are existing standards used by Learning
Management Systems (LMS's) so that any courseware that makes its
results available in a specific format can be plugged into a
    conforming LMS.
I would like to get these results and stats (ie. whose done
which tutorials) and manage access using my existing database,
users and groups structures. I would like to go past just storing
which users have accessed which presentation to get the more
powerful information such as how far they got through it, what were
    their quiz scores etc...
How should I go about this?
    a. do I need to build a small LMS? Does this just mean
developing code that will read XML in SCORM/AICC format?
    b. is there existing open source / free LMS I should look to
    integrate into my system
    c. Is there another way to get this data out of a breeze
    presentation (.swf) (javascript/actionscript??)
Any help would be appreciated . I'm not quite sure how to
articulate what I'm after but I hope you get the idea.
    Many thanks,
    dan.

Hi LBViking and welcome to our community
For the most reliable collection of data, you will need to
install, configure and use Captivate with something called a
Learning Management System (LMS). Many folks immediately pounce on
the E-Mail ability and end up here because it, ummm, shall we say,
works "less than stellar". Essentially it is fraught with issues.

  • IE freezes when playing quiz slides via LMS

Has anyone experienced issues with Internet Explorer going into Not Responding status when attempting to complete or move through quiz slides when they are displayed via an LMS?  Using Captivate 4, published to Flash 8, IE 7.
    -beverly

Yes, I have experienced something very similar.
It will sometimes freeze when the user answers a question and then clicks the submit button.  Sometimes it will also freeze when a user clicks on the IE close button (Red X in the upper right hand corner)...Or sometimes it will close the browser but then our LMS stops responding.

  • Problem with registering Captivate Quiz score in LMS

We are using Integrity e-Learning’s WBT manager for our
LMS. We have been using Captivate (SWF files) for several months to
show simulations for software. Generally we are quite happy with
    the software.
We have been able to easily create a quiz (a Captivate
generated SWF file) and access it through the LMS (using a HTML
frameset), unfortunately we are having trouble passing the
numerical score the quiz generates to the LMS.
When a student takes a Captivate Quiz (bound into a SWF
file), the final score displays on the final frame of the SWF file,
but is not getting passed to the LMS. All the other data seems to
be fine. So far we are only viewing status using the Lesson
Progress Report, which indicates “no score (n/a)”. In
this case we are embedding the SWF file into a HTML page contained
    in a frameset.
We have been able to get a score successfully passed to the
LMS if we link directly to the .swf file, bypassing HTML
altogether, unfortunately we also get a warning about using Flash
Player and multiple warnings about downloading the
    “aicc_int.asp” file.
    I have read through:

  • Sending Quiz Results to LMS

I've created a quiz. Now how do I set it up to send the
results to an LMS? And in what format are the results sent? Is it
an xml file that will have to be parsed.

    Hi there
Normally you click Quiz > Quiz Settings (might be Quiz
Preferences) and look at the Reporting node. You enable it and
configure the options for your specific LMS. Each LMS is likely to
be different and will require different settings here.
To my knowledge it is not a XML file that is used. I believe
most of it is done with JavaScript.

  • Issue wrt LMS 4.0 on VMware ESX4.1

    Hi;
I am facing issue during installation of Cisco Works LMS 4.0 on Windows 2008 Server R2 Enterprise 64 bit VMware ESX 4.1 instance. The installation is termicating and give me following error:
"You cannot install CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution 4.0 on an unsupported operating system or when Terminal Services is running on the supported Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition, Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition, Windows 2003 R2 Server platforms, and Windows 2008 Server Enterprise Edition.
The setup program will exit when you click OK
You must either upgrade the operating system on the server to a supported version or install CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution 4.0 on another server that runs a supported operating system."
As per Cisco document LMS 4.0 support VMware ESX 4.1, Windows 2008 Server R2 Enterprise 64 bit.
Please help me in this regards; Also found the screen shot in attachment.
    Thanks
    Shoaib

this is not quite correct, LMS 4.0 does not support Windows 2008 R2 per default:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/prod/collateral/netmgtsw/ps6504/ps6528/ps11200/ps11202/data_sheet_c78-610760.html
it is windows 2008 with service pack 1 and 2 which are supported - not R2
But, nevertheless, it is supported with a patch available on CCO. See this doc:

  • Quiz issues

    Hello,
I have a finished project and I'm testing the it at the moment. In the end of the project there's a quiz of 10 questions in different formats. I've set it up so you can do the test 3 times, and if you still haven't completed it you have to retakt the course. It works quite well, but I've encountered some issues. I'll start by saying I'm using Captivate 5.0.
As I said, you can do the test 3 times, and it works well. If you don't obtain the required score you'll have to press "retake quiz" and the "result page". Next to the "retake quiz"-button there is a "continue"-button as well, but it doesn't work since you didn't pass the test. If you press the "continue"-button before pressing the "retake quiz"-button the quiz acts different from the first time. First of all the pictures looks faded, like it's 50% transparent. Also the slide doesn't change when you've selected the correct answer and press submit. You have to choose you're answer, press submit and then press "skip" to go onto the next question. If you press "submit" again nothing happens.
This is something I've encoutnered only when I press "continue" before "retake quiz" at the "result page" and the end of the quiz.
Also another question. It would the the best if the "continue"-button doesn't show at all in the "result page", and only the "retake quiz" if you don't pass the test. Just as there's not "retake quiz" if you pass the test. Any way to set that up to minimize confusion?
I hope that I've described the problem sufficiently, otherwise fire away the questions
    Thanks in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Patrik

    Hi Patrik,
Here is a work around: resize the Continue and Retake button to the same size. There is a stacking order in the buttons on Question slide and Score slide. Drag the Retake button (that has higher priority) on top of the Continue button, and it will only appear when the Retake button is disappearing. Beware: stacking order could change if you desactivated and reactivated the buttons.
I blogged about this stacking order and other things concerning Quiz slides recently:

  • Scoring issues in LMS

Using Captivate 3 with quizzes and designating the passing
score must be 75% or higher, publishing using SCORM 2004. I checked
    the manifest file and found
    minNormalizedMeasure></imsss:minNormalizedMeasure. I am by no
means an expert in understanding the code in the manifest file, but
was told that the settings in Captivate should have created this
    line: minNormalizedMeasure>.75</imsss:minNormalizedMeasure
and that is the reason for the discrepency.
Sure enough, when I fixed the manifest file and re-imported
to the LMS, it scored correctly. Is there a way to fix this without
having to edit the manifest file evertime I publish?

I'd imagine the CP file should read from the manifest when
    you load the
lesson and look at the settings...no? I guess I'd not be
    surprised if it
stored those values with the CP file instead, which is
    unfortunate...
...because, of course, if you change it in the manifest and
    the CP file
loads those settings next you open it, you could find where
    that setting
    now has '.75'.
Could this be related to the Mastery Score? Do you have that
    set in your
    CP Quiz Manager settings?

  • Captivate Quiz issue

I created a 8 question quiz in Captivate at the end of a 80
slide project. The quiz drops off elements of the quiz slide, like
the top radio button of a multiple choice question and no answers
are correct, even when you are able to answer them correctly with
the information displayed. The quiz slides do not advance properly
either. The quiz summary never appears. The rest of the project
runs fine. I can copy only the quiz into a seperate project and the
quiz will run WITHOUT an issues.

Hi mymini7 and welcome to our community
First off, I'd like to point out that I'm simply a recognized
volunteer here. I'm not an Adobe employee.
As with any software, it's not common to see limitations
listed among the "selling features". The typical run-of-the-mill
movie is said to be anywhere between 50-65 slides long. But as with
anything, this varies. Factors such as:
    * Physical dimensions of the movie
    * How much audio is being used
    * How many objects are being used
can come into play here. I've heard of folks with 30 slide
movies that are just "too large" for things to work right. And at
the other end of the spectrum, I've heard of folks that regularly
create movies 130 slides long that play with no issues whatsoever.
Anyone encountering issues should really report them via
    this
    link.
    Sincerely... Rick

  • Captivate 6 not reporting quiz correctly to LMS

I am using Captivate 6 and SumTotal as the LMS.
When I complete a quiz with 10% or less it doesn't show the results in the LMS.  Scores above 10% are recorded correctly.
I really can't fathem what the problem may be. I have not seen this problem with Captivates 4 or 5.
Has anyone else encountered this, and what was your resolution?

  • Captivate 4 - Quiz Issue

I have developed in captivate 4 - at the end of my e-learning I have inserted a 5 question quiz - but the calculations for the quiz go wrong.
It keeps thinking that I have 29 questions. There are simulations in the presentations - and I wonder if it is somehow including these. I have checked the quiz preferences and reporting is turned off - can't really think what else to try. Not using an LMS Yet

Hello and welcome to the forum,
I suspect that you do not only have Question slides but several scored objects (like Text Entry Boxes, Click Boxes, Buttons) in your project.
You can check this in the Advanced Interaction view (F9 or in the Project menu). Look in the column 'Points' and 'Add to Total'. At the bottom you will see the total number of points, that will include the scores of those objects. This view is interactive in CP4 - not in CP5, so you can deselect "Add to total' for those objects and I hope that you will see the correct number of questions after this action.

  • Sending quiz data to LMS

    Hi
In CP4 is there a way to send the quiz results at the end of the project? What i am runing into is,  I have three slides that run after the quiz has been completed but it seams while the quiz is sending the data to the lms the project keeps going and so messes up the voice over and slides timing, at one point I have two slides voice over at the same time.
    Mike

After trying a couple of times I am still having one of those days.
Even with Rod's suggestion of the new scorm template from Adobe, I am still finding that after the quiz results page the next two slides voice over is merging into one and they are not following the time line.. I think it is due to the data being transferred to the lms..
So to give you an idea of what I mean, I get something like this:
After completing the quiz - 20 questions we show the results page.
Then click next to continue from the results page.
Next slide starts but voice over only starts after a delay of up to 20-30 seconds then it starts. The total timeline for this slide is 38 seconds.
After time line for this slide reches 38 seconds we go to the next slide and voice over starts for that one.
Now I have two voice overs going at the same time until they both end as the second slide has an exit button on it and is paused until they click it.
    Any ideas?

  • Captive issues with LMS

I am having the following two issues:
I have created a course that consists of six lessons. I have
placed the course on our LMS. Whenever I leave the course before
completing - and from wherever I leave it - when I return it takes
me to Question 3 of the Lesson 1 assessment every time.
Also, when I do finish the last assessment, the LMS is not
getting the "Completion" status from the content. The LMS still
shows me as "in-progress". And the LMS is only registering a total
of 45 points even though I have answered every question correctly.
I'm not sure why this is happening, because the total points in the
course based on advanced interaction is 100 points. Please help!
    Out of ideas. Thanks!

How did you 'create a course consisting of 6 lessons'?
You can't merge multiple, separate CP projects into one SCO.
If that's essentially what you've done, then tracking is
    likely getting
all thrown-off because each SCO is attempting to track itself
    by its own
ID, which the LMS is likely not expecting.
(i.e. when one CP lesson sends back 'user left at p4', the
    LMS sends
back 'p4' when the lesson is relaunched, but how does the
    lesson know
which Captivate's p4 should be resumed?)
So a bit more detail on how you structured this may help.
    Ideally, just
create one SCO (content package, etc) per CP lesson and use
    the LMS menu
    to navigate between them.
    Helps?
