RBE/RBPD/SolMan Documentation

Hi,
Inquisitive about RBE, I happened to check threads to understand RBE and eventually ended with RBPD and SolMan Documentation.
RBE now known as RBPD/SolMan Documentation etc...So a bit confused.
I wish to know why RBE is used, when it is used, would appreciate if I get few examples to understand better.
Cheers,
Aditya V

Dear Aditya V The official successor of SAP RBE or RBE+ from IBIS is Reverse Business Process Documentation short RBPD as part of SAP Solution Manager "Solution Documentation Assistant" short SDA. It will help to create an automated solution documentation and usage analysis of any SAP product. Details can be found under http://service.sap.com/RBPD Kind regards, Barbara

  • RFC's

    Hi,
I am new to Solution Manager. I have the Sol-Man installed
in one SAP System and I want to access other SAP Systems.
I was told that RFC Destinations have to be created.
If that's the solution, how and where to create the RFC
    Destinations?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi C,
in this case the wrong answer! For accessing satelite systems RFC destinations can be generated in transaction SMSY. See Solman documentation for details <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm40/helpdata/en/ae/64c33af662c514e10000000a114084/frameset.htm">http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm40/helpdata/en/ae/64c33af662c514e10000000a114084/frameset.htm</a> -> Solution Manager System Landscape - System Landscape Management - Create Systems - Generate/Change RFC Connections

  • No in the system SLM configured

    Hi,
we recently updated our solman from SP17 to EHP1 SP20 in order to be able to use the EHP4 download options within the solman.
EHP4 selection works fine so far, but there is a warning shown during the maintenace optimizer process which says "No SLM configrued within the system". I am supposed to run tx /TMWFLOW/MOPZCFG and configure the connection to a SLM.
Unfortunately this does not work because I simply don't know what input I should give these config steps. I searched within the solman documentation but I found nothing that helped me.
Does anybody know what steps I do have to make here or where I find the appropriate documentation?
While selecting patches for a system connected to the solman I also found out that the solman brings up too many patches to download. It almost seems as if the solman does not properly read the current system config or implemented SP stack. He simply brings up every possible patch. Is this problem connected to the above mentioned missing SLM?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kind regards,
    Sven

    Hi Sven
To enable an automated installation process, you initially need to configure your system landscape. You must define the system landscape in SAP Solution Manager, using transaction Solution Manager System Landscape (SMSY). Alternatively, you need to make the landscape data available in the System Landscape Directory.
The update for the SAP enhancement package 4 for SAP ERP 6.0 (May 2009) has a new section 4.1.3 Solution Manager u2013 System Landscape which provides you with an overview (see http://service.ap.com/erp-inst).

  • Lotus Notes documents migration into Solution Manager

We have been using Lotus notes application for maintaining only documentation in our landscape. But now, the plan is to move all the documentation from Lotus notes to SAP Solution Manager and use it as a document management system from now....
Could anyone please answer the following queries:
    1) Does LSX environment help/enhance the migration ?. If not, are there any tools/accelerators/functions/automatic methods for mas uploading?
    2) This documentation is not project specific documentation. Where do you think this must go in Solution Manager?
In the custom area of BPR?. If yes, please do let me know the procedure for the same.
    3) Would it be possible to link the documents to functional domains/ business scenarios/ business processes in the BPR?
    4) Lotus notes provides access to all the versions (Draft/Approved/Reviewed) of a document. Would it be possible to have the same features even in Solution Manager?
    5) What all document types does Solution Manager recognize?.
I think the Lotus notes documents can be converted to 'Word' format and then put in Solution Manager. Besides this, is there any other common format which is recognized by both the tools?
    6) Standard SAP Solution manager does not provide indexed search. So, in order to retrieve a document later what indexing nomenclature/guidelines do you recommend?
Has anyone done/faced with this kind of requirement. The idea now is to use Solution manager as a document management system. The efforts/process/timelines information if already known would be of great help to start with for us....
Could you also provide the trade offs b/n Solution Manager and SAP knowledge warehouse (KW)?
    Hoping for some replies ...

we also had the same requirement to migration from LN to SolMan Documentation base but there is no such tool (yet?)
What you can do you can migrate from any ARIS like platform to SolMan:
    http://en.sap.info/ids-scheer-announces-migration-program-to-aris-platform/4058
You do have versioning in SolMan and you can upload any kind of document via SOLAR01
regarding the indexing you can either use SAP SES or connect TREX, this is documented in the customizing (SPRO)
TREX will also be the prerequisite to make use of KM in SolMan

  • Solution Documentation Assistant: RBPD

RBPD (Reverse Business Process Documentation) - Is this possibly only with Solman 7.1 or can this be performed using Solman 7.0 as well?
Does anyone have a "How-to" on this function using Solution Documentation Assistant?
Any inputs, documentation, materials, etc. is highly appreciated.
    Thank you

I have repeatedly been told that using Solman 7.0 a BPH (with tcodes and img objects mapped) can be created using workload data from EWA.  Is this true?
Yes, plz see my response below
Now assume that there is no Template/Implementation project in the Solman 7.0 system that contains any business process structure. Is this possible?
Here is path for how to go about it:
Even if you do not have an implementation/template project you have some documentation that contains information about what was done to test the implementation? Something like a test script i.e. an Integration Test Script.
Just create some mock project and  select the most revelant business scenario  from the Business Process Repository (a.k.a BPR - The preconfigured out of the box scenario list that SAP delivers with SolMan) that you want to reverse engineer, for example Order to Cash process. Now you must have some scripts with you, that will act as the path to show u what transactions you run in your business process like VA01 , VA02 etc...
As a next step, Now use the BPR and the test script as a starting point to define your project. and then run the SoDoCa to do its analysis for the same project and there will be an option to update your SolMan project within the SoDoCa workcenter. The work is iterative and will require the O2C configurator's assistance at one point, even though you have a test script with you.
Since you use the BPR hte configuration comes out of the box, which explains how SAP attempts to let you reverse engineer.
There will be possible gaps and it will require continuous review eventually, which is part of keeping up the Business process documentation current.
If so, can you direct me to specific documentation? I couldn't find this in the solman-rkt link for 7.0.
I believe the RKT documentation does not have this information and in the ramp up process we were told about this being available in 7.1 with more added functionality.

  • Documentation in SolMan of Non SAP Implementation.

    Hi experts,
Is it possible to maintain documentation, blueprints, etc. for an implementation of a NON SAP system (CC&B of Oracle)?
If possible, what would be the correct scenario of SolMan?
    Best Regards,

    Hi Gustavo,
In my view, the right transactions to hold documents for Non-SAP systems are SOLAR01 & SOLAR02 or the Solution Landscape.
The questions you would have to answer yourself are:
    (1) Are these Non-SAP systems part of the 'overll' solution landscape in terms of interacting with SAP in one way or ther other  OR are these meant to carry out certain Business Processes that are totally standalone and have no 'interface' or cross-dependency on SAP
          - If these Non-SAP systems actively interact with SAP, you may be better off getting the structure definition as well as documentation in the same Project
         - If some elements interact and most others are standalone, you may like to have a different Project to manage those standalone elements
    (2) Do you plan to undertake any 'Project' that may end up using these Non-SAP system documentation OR is it primarily for the support team that manages an existing infrastructure, to have access to these documents from one place ?
    - If no projects are foreseen taking shape, you may be better off defining the structure as Business Scenarios or Interface Scenarios in Solution Landscape as opposed to Project side
Please feel free to ask any further queries.
    Best regards,
    Srini

  • RBE 3.0 and SolMan

    Hi,
We have downloaded data from our ECC 5.0 system (with ZRBE_MAIN) to the RBE 3.0 database and created an ACH using the Configurator.
Next step is to run an Extract job downloading data from the ECC system.
    Question :
Is it possbile to move the downloaded/analyzed data from our RBE-database to our Solution Manager 4.0 system ?
    Rgds,
    Christian

Not possible. You need RBE+ to integrate to SolMan.

  • Documentation for CCLM on SolMan 7.1 SP12

    Hi,
It seems the CCLM documentation in SCN is mostly 7.1 SP10 specific (see this link:  https://websmp110.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000426872012E).  Is there an SP12 equivalent document?
We're having issues with SP12 specific functionality, such as the Citymodel, and I'd like to do my due diligence in reading the documentation to see if we missed a step.
    Thanks,
    David

    Hi David,
in general, the documentation about setup of CCLM should be given in the guided procedure in transaction solman_setup. There are some sap notes missing in your system it seems:
SAP note 2086697 - City Model data services are not working on system alias local
and for the ICI dashboards it is very important to have
SAP note 2081230 - Solman 7.1 SP12 iCI BW content activation with CCLM content activation.
    TBD in the solman system.
Now the good news! Starting within the next days SAP note 1906451 - Technical Preparation for Custom Code Management will be released again and will be enhanced.
So far it was only checking missing notes on the managed system side (mostly UPL relevant), now it has an embedded filter to also check notes for the SolMan itself.
Idea is: if a customer has an old version of the solman master note installed (or not installed at all) so at least the CCM notes
could be checked automatically with the execution of the report RTCCTOOL in the customer Solution Manager system. An automated version of this check is planned to be included in SOLMAN_SETUP for CCM in future.
Unfortunately the CCLM guide is still not yet available in the Marketplace so I cannot provide a link - I cannot upload a big file here so please post your email so that I can provide it to you directly as PDF.
Thanks for your input and best regards,
    Sylke

  • RBE - Reverse Business Engineering for UniCode - In SolMan

    Hello.
Has RBE been incorporated into Solution Manager for ECC6.0 and UniCode
    Systems ?
If so, any documention that you can point us to for reference on how to
    setup and use ?
RBE can only be used for ECC6.0 and Non Unicode Systems ?
Latest version of RBE is 2.0 for Non Unicode Systems ?
Please advise on how we can get RBE functionality and reporting for
    ECC6.0 UniCode System.
Does RBE 3.0 work with Unicode for ECC6.0 or do we have to go with
Solution Manager ? an older release of Solution Manager for RBE ?
    Thanks

    Hello Markus,
I want to install Reverse Business Engineering (RBE) tool can you help which is the latest version of RBE tool available on SAP support portal for download.
As you mentioned that " RBE is discontinued, both 2.0 and 3.0 (3.0 was only a test version)."  So you mean to say that RBE 2.0 and 3.0 are not availabe for download and is there any higher version availabe for download ?? or where can i get this component for installation ??
Also if RBE tool is discontinued is there any replacement for this RBE tool ?
    Thanks in advance
