Re: Extortionate Line Repair Charge Taken from my ...

My parents, one of which is an OAP have reached the end of their limit in trying to resolve this issue with BT, therefore I am posting this here on their behalf to see if this issue can be resolved before writing to the Communications Ombudsman and Local/National Papers.
Earlier this year there was a fault on the line and a tree blown over on my parents road, none of which was their fault. After some time a BT engineer arrived and spoke to them for approximately 10 minutes and then went to fix the exchange at the end of the road. Which didn't appear to take him very long at all. After this the problem was resolved.
Except my parents noticed in their next bill a charge of almost £500 for a line repair. After spending hours trying to get hold of someone at BT that would be able to help them with this issue, they were assured that this money would not be taken from their account until it had been reviewed. To have £500 removed from their account would of course have a huge financial impact on them.
This money was then taken with the next payment, despite BT's assurance that it would not be, leaving them £500 short for that month.
Countless hours later of phone calls of being on hold and palmed off between different departments who appear to be staffed by employees who have no concern for this issue, there is still no one even attempting a resolution. My parent's have requested documents that detail what this huge charge was for, and each time they are promised this, every time of course they receive nothing.
We have all had enough of spending hours of our time phoning BT trying to find a resolution to this problem.
This is our last attempt to provide BT with an opportunity to resolve this issue before we take this to the Ombudsman and all other relevant institutions.
Solved!

Pictures taken with my 1D Mark IV show a blue horizontal line at the bottom from ISO 400 onwards. So far nobody has been able tot tell me the cause of this problem. The body is still quite new (15000 pics taken).

I agree that it looks like a column of photosites is not working.  But... I'm curious as to why this would only happen at ISO 400 or above.
The sensor is covered with photosites -- they are monochrome.   On top of the photosites is the "bayer mask".  The mask is a checkboard pattern of red, green, and blue "lenses" which makes the photosite beneath only sensitive to that particular color.  They are group in clusters of 4 photosites in a 2x2 matrix.  Two of the four squares (in opposing corners) are green.  One corner is red.  One corner is blue.  If you were to lose a column which happens to be along the red/green column (as opposed to the green/blue) then you'd lose red sensitive and half the green sensitivity in that column.  The result would be that this column is flanked by two "working" columns which are full of green/blue photosites... hence the teal blue look.
I do not know if this will work for you, but oddly... you can actually sometimes "clear" stuck pixels (but usually this is an indvidiual stuck pixel... not a whole column of them) by putting the camera into manual sensor cleaning mode (and you may have to do this 2 or three times).  While the normal point of the self-cleaning mode is to flip up the reflex mirror and open the shutter so that you can inspect and clean the sensor (really the front-most filter because you can't actually touch the real sensor), it also neutralizes the charge on the sensor (or so I've read).  This charging and discharging of the sensor a few times can often get "stuck" pixels to start working again.  BUT AGAIN... I've only ever seen this used on individual stuck pixels... never a whole row.

When a pdf is taken from illustrator, white lines appears on images. How can be avoided it?
I use illustrator cs5. It occures mostly on the cover pages of brochures which contains images, texts and some effects such as drop shadow etc.

    Thanks for your reply.
When smooth line art is turned off in Acrobat preferences, the lines disappears but the text becomes raserized and goes its smoothness. Not only that, we are not sure that everyone who is viewing the pdf has the same settings in their laptop or desktop.
Is there any other solution to remove these lines? I have added the screenshot of a part of the pdf.
Thanks once again for your support.

  • £130 wrongly taken from my bank account. Customer ...

£130 wrongly taken from my account on the 2nd, had to take a day off from work to ring BT customer services so lost a days pay and also got £60 bank charges from not being able to pay other direct debits. After customer services promised me the £130 paid back into my account within 24hours, they never did costing me an extra £30 for bank charge. Rang today (4th) and customer service man says, the £130 is sat here waiting to be paid into your bank account and will take 2-5 days to go into your account. After explaining to him that the money was meant to paid into my account the day before as promised and since cost me an extra £30 for bank charge. he started arguing with me saying they wouldn't of said that they would pay the money back within 24hours. I asked to speak to a supervisor for him to put me on hold then hang up the line.
Don't use BT, go elsewhere, I have already told 2 people of this matter & they are thinking of getting broadband elsewhere.
My service is no problem with BT so far bar this matter of them wrongly taking £130 from my account and costing me £90 bank charges as well as a days pay to then ring customer services and be accused of lying and put on hold and the line cut off.
    Thanks BT.

    Hi wils35
I am terribly sorry for all the trouble with this.  The 24 hours comment sounds like a complete error, I am really sorry about this but it always takes 3-5 days, even if we go direct to the accounting guys.  You should be able to file an indemnity claim with your bank to get the £30 and I'll do my best to help.  I'll need a closer look please.

  • Fault on line - repair time

    Hi,
Fault reported to BT this morning on phoneline (broadband's also out) on the fault tracking there's no update even though for the past 5 hours an engineers been 'on the case'.
Is there any way to find out any further what's going on?
Wouldn't normally worry but my wife's at home expecting our second baby (due on sunday) - timing couldn't be worse!
    Thanks,
    Nick

    From the BT.com site
"Can you divert my calls to another line while I'm waiting for the fault to be repaired?
To keep you connected, we can divert your calls to another landline or mobile, free of charge. This can easily be done online or by calling:
    Residential customers call:
    For free on a BT line 151 For free on a non-BT line 0800 800 151 From a mobile 0800 800 151 (there may be a charge) "
If you reported it online, and the line test result indicated a disconnection, then there should be an option on the fault screen to set up a divert.

  • Money Illegally Taken from my account by BT

I'm sorry its resorted to having to create a profile on the BT Forum but I'm at the end of my tether and if this is not resolved have been informed to take legal action.
I was a loyal BT Customer for 8 years but decided in November 2012 to switch to Sky Broadband for our broadband and line rental. We had not upgraded our BT Broadband for sometime and were out of contract with BT but just kept the same deal and didn't bother going for a new contract even though we could have saved money. Plus we hadn't received any new equipment from BT since our original old style white wireless router (so 5 or so years without any new equipment from BT).
Our BT Broadband and BT line rental was set-up to pay be monthly direct debit which was always paid.
    • I had £40.00 taken from my account on the 8.11.12 by BT GROUP PLC by Direct Debit
    • Our BT Broadband and line rental finished on the 13.11.12
    • SKY Broadband and line rental started on the 14.11.12
    • I had £61.50 taken from my account on the 10.12.12 by BT GROUP PLC by Direct Debit
    • I had £61.50 taken from my account on the 1.1.13 by BT GROUP PLC by Direct Debit
I have used the online help tool and have spoken with 6 different people now trying to get this matter resolved and was informed that a cheque would be issued for the outstanding amount that had been taken.
    • I received a cheque this morning for £40.88!
I want to know where the rest of my refund is? and why BT took £61.50 from my bank account in December 12 and January 13 and when I can expect to get this money refunded?
To say I am furious about this is an understatement and after taking advice from my solicitor have been advised if this matter is not resolved or an adequate answer provided in the next 21 days have been advised to take legal action. I am very disappointed in the way BT have handled this issue.
As someone who always praised BT to other friends and family feel I have been let down and had money illegally taken from bank account purely because of my decision to change broadband and telephone provider.

  • Money taken from my account

Hi , can anyone please help me ...
I was notified by Skype that that an order had been placed on my account for 100 euros on 2nd Feb , I received a follow up email stating that because of suspicious activity my account was suspended ( Which to me suggests that Skype are aware that this money was taken fraudulently ( which is the case )  I had another email from Skype to say that someone had been removed from my account management ( I assume the fraudster )
After many emails and repeating myself frequently , Skype agreed a chargeback back .
They are now saying there is no evidence of the charge on my account ?? ! Admitedly there isn't now , but there was , I had notifications regarding the order AND the chargeback when I digned in , but they have vanished )
However I do have evidence that 100 euro's was taken from my paypal , by Skype on the 2nd of Feb .
Everytime I try to get an answer , I get the same old template response ... It's driving me to distraction. All I want is for ONE person to follow the email trail and help me resolve this ... Can anyone tell me if there is anyway of getting a senior operative to look at this ? Rather than a string of different people as has been the case .
    Sorry for the rant

Hi, Sandie_Coleman, and welcome to the Community,
I trust, by now, as a proactive measure, you have changed all account passwords immediately if you have not already done so.
Please see this FAQ article as it relates to sending proof of purchase (fraudulent or not!) to Skype.  You will need to show that the fraudulent purchase was credited to your Skype account, otherwise Skype may send you to file your report with PayPal.  https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA11016/how-do-i-send-proof-of-payment-to-skype-customer-service?

  • How to restore the backup which we taken from db13 ?

    Hi .........
I am taking full back up from DB13 to hard disk and tape drive every day.
Please tell me how to restore this backup which is taken from db13.
    4.7E, MSSQL , Windows 2003 server.
    Gayatry.

If its the same server you took the backup from the backup history for the DB will be stored against it. If its a different server you will need to catalog the backup tape to read in the history/contents.
Lets assume its the same server, with the same file locations.
From SQL Ent Mgr - with SAP stopped.
    right click  the DB
    select restoredb
select the set you want to restore from the history
select the options you need (ie leave off line for addition TL restore, or bring online)
It really is that simple - you cant go wrong (assuming you select the correct set!)

  • TS4058 Why  has iChat been taken from me?  I don't want to upgrade to Lion!

Why  has iChat been taken from me?  I don't want to upgrade to Lion!

    Hi,
iChat 5.x.x works in Snow Leopard.
(Older versions also work in earlier OS versions)
iChat 4 and iChat 5 had a method of getting to a registration page for @mac.com names.
The iChat version no longer does this (but the registration page still exists)
In addition to this if you selected AIM then the option does not work now as AIM moved their Registration pages soon after Snow Leopard came out.
    @mac.com registration page
Keep the password to 16 characters or less (AIM server limit)
You cannot use an email that has already been used with or is an Apple ID.
    AIM registration Page
You cannot exceed the 16 character limit here
You need an email for Confirmation and for Password recovery (You can use it again and again if you want to set up loads of names)
You can chose a Name or use an existing email.
iChat can also use Jabber IDs
Google Mail IDs can have Talk enabled in their Google Account settings and then it can be used in iChat
Facebook have a Chat option that needs enabling.
Both use Jabber servers and your ID with them is a Valid Jabber name.
There are lots of other Public Jabber servers.

  • Warranty on the issue of purple spot in images taken from rear camera?

My iPhone 5 have purple spot in images taken from rear camera. I just noticed the issue in my phone today.
I researched online and some people also have the same issue and have their phone replaced in Apple shops.
I don't have any receipt or store warranty card since it was just given to me as a gift in the Philippines last April 2013, I checked the warranty coverage status (https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do) and it still has repair and service coverage.
Im now here in Dubai, and my question is that will Apple Premium Reseller shops here in Dubai honor the said warranty and have my iPhone repaired or replaced?

    No.

  • HT5085 I ordered a TV series-I can see where the $$ was taken from our account but I can't find the series anywhere on my iTunes account??

ordered a TV series…I can see where the $$ was taken from our account but I can't find the shows anywhere in our itunes account.

    Hello NMS1,
It sounds like you are unable find these TV shows you purchased in a series, but you have been charged for them. I would start by checking to see if you can download them from your Purchases in the iTunes Store with this article:
    Download past purchases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
The steps are different if you are on an iOS device vs. a computer, so choose the appropriate section for the device you want to download them to.
If you cannot find it in your Purchases, I would next reach out to the iTunes Store support team for additional assistance:
How to report an issue with your iTunes Store, App Store, Mac App Store, or iBooks Store purchase
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1933
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Loan taken from banks and Fixed deposit scenerios

    Dear experts,
Please guide me,  i have two Scenarios,
    1.  My client have fixed deposits in bank -  how to configure in sap
    2. loan taken from bank  -  when i repayment the loan amount it should deducted from my loan principle amont  in the this process what is role of my house banks.   what entries should make, how to calculate interest on loan --  how to configure this Scenario in sap
    please guide me
    Regards
    Chandu

    Hi Chandu,
A loan with a bank is no different from an Asset creation process albeit this will NOT be within the Asset A/c module of SAP.
I am assuming that you have SAP FI/CO - in that case you may look at a few options to meet this process:
    1. Post an accounting entry creating an asset (FB50) - dr loans held (asset a/c on your BL) and cr cash. (Note your customer ie your bank in the description field etc for record purposes or mention the loan #, a/c etc)
    else
    2.  Post a customer receivable via FB70 with your bank as the customer and ensure that your payment terms match the maturity of the loan. (Post a FB70 with a debit to customer, credit cash etc (you get the idea - hit an asset a/c on the credit side as well)
When its time to collect principal or interest or whatever, if you use 1) - post a journal entry again to offset this posting and post interest as income gained and in case if you use 2) post collection.
with 2) you may need to pass a journal entry for interest collected as a separate line item.
    Hope this helps,
    Thanks

Have you added or changed your credit card details on your iTunes account ? If you have then each time that you do so a small temporary store holding charge may be applied to check that the card details are correct and valid and that it's registered to exactly the same name and address as on your iTunes account - it should disappear off your account within a few days or so.
    Store holding charge : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3702
