Here we have a rep. of verizon, within the verizon store, who is telling me they have no free phones.
At no point and time did he ask if I were a customer.
Had he done so, he would have known that i've been a customer for at least 10 years, a customer who always pays his exceptionally large bills, and a customer who was in fact entitled to a free phone.
Neither here nor there now.  The joke--of-a--chat customer service online here on the verizon site was equally idiotic.
Good bye Verizon, enjoying my new, FREE, Sprint smart phone now, with my same ex-verizon telephone number.
You did what you had to do for yourself, and I hope it works for you. I would be curious to ask though what free phone you got from Sprint?
You experienced the same thing a lot of people are complaining about, and that is bad salespeople. In these hard economic times, people have to take jobs that they necessarily don't like, and are not good at. Unfortunately, if you are doing a job that you are not good at, and do not want to be doing, that is how you act.
Of course, on the other side, you might also have salespeople that are tired of hearing from customers that "I want this, that, and another thing, and I want it free because I have been with you for X number of years, and I have always paid my bill on time, and you owe me!! If you don't, I will take my X number of lines to someone else!"
I'm sure hearing that just makes them want to jump through hoops for people..

Exactly my point.

  • Tablet & Phones - Optimizing Your Website For Them

    Hey Everyone,
So I recently decided to use the fairly new Muse settings allowing me to optimize my website for tablets and phones. I noticed once I activated these builders in Muse, it only gave me empty pages. Is there any way to take the content I've already built for the desktop website and port it into the tablet and phone websites? I don't particularly want to design each of my pages twice more.
    Thanks for any help!

    Hello,
This is the default behavior of Muse. When you create a tablet or mobile/tablet version of the site, it doesn't copy the content but creates an empty layout only. The purpose of mobile or tablet version is faster downloading of the site as well as better visual performance. Muse can't reduce the size of the assets added to the desktop version. Hence it creates the empty layout and lets you add the content manually. You may want to copy the contents of the desktop pages and paste them in the mobile layout and manually resize them as per the layout.
    Cheers

  • Lucid 2: New 2 yr. contract, but nobody offered me a free phone, why?

A few days ago, I wrote a similar message concerning this issue.  I've tried to locate it via the thread number, etc., but haven't found it yet.
I received messages from two persons, both with excellent ideas, but none that truly covered my circumstances.  Tomorrow, I will try to get back into the
Verizon store I went to in the beginning, and see what they have to say.  The problem is, I wasn't even offered a free phone with my signing up with
a 2 yr. contract!!  I suppose I should have gone to Wirefly of something and ordered a phone via them, with Verizon my carrier.  My ex did NOT ORDER
his phone via the net, he got it inside the same store I went to, merely a few hours earlier.  I'm still perplexed by this, as it's costing me plenty just to
be with Verizon.  They also didn't mention that in my area, if I were to order Cox Cable, there was some deal through them, too.
I'd tried, by the way, to respond to those who responded to my first message, but was unsuccessful.....so sorry.
Thanks to anyone who's bothered to listen.....Just hope others don't experience the same difficulties.

    >>See Why would I NOT receive an offer of a free phone for initiating a 2-yr. contract, same store?  for replies<<

I guess I would first be interested if you actually looked around the store. If there were any "free phones" they would have been on display. They are not hidden and are not technically "offers", but just the price of the phone when signing up for a 2 yr contract. If you had looked around the store, you would have seen which phones were "free" with a 2 yr contract.
Looking at the online price, it does appear the LG Lucid is $0.99 with a 2 year contract, however I don't know if that was the price when you went in to the store on 7/7/2013. Did you get the phone only, or did you ALSO purchase any accessories in that $130 price tag you mentioned? Going online and viewing the available accessories, such as car charger($30), screen protectors($13), case($30), bluetooth/headphone device($15-$100), etc... I can see how you could end up paying $130 when going in to pick up a "free phone".
Don't forget there is also a $35 activation fee when you sign up for a new line of service. Even if Verizon said your activation fee would be waived, you would have been charged the fee and then credited on your bill within the 1st couple of months of service.
I would be interested in how that $130 price tag for the phone broke down, if it was ONLY the charge for the phone, or if it also included any accessories/activation fee.
Regardless, good luck getting this straightened out.

Get onto the integrated iOS + Mac OS and end support for "legacy" Mac 10.8 and earlier.
Force older hardware users like me to upgrade to new hardware which is where $$ are.
Make apps work across tablets, phone, and computer with similar (though not the "same" app, but able to read and use the same file format).
    Simplify.
I don't think anyone incl. Microsoft knew Windows 8.1 was going to be a free upgrade, I didn't and read that it would be more like $30.
No OS is ready for everyone on the day it is launched. iOS 7 is now 7.04 and climbing, Mac OS tends to really not be ready until the last patch and version is out, often a year or more after it was first issued. Ship it, then plan to fix the bugs left in or that surface.
www.macperformanceguide.com is saying "No" to Maverick for now. Of course there will be no "No" on new Mac Pro 2013 6,1 when those ship (Late Jan? )

Afraid, this doesnt help.  I've already unselected about 100 iTunes, resynced, and I still get the same message about 610 MB needing to be deleted.
What is so magic about 610 MB as a number?
Is this anything to do with iCloud? I was on the free 20 MB offeruntil last month and then got downgraded to 5 because I could n't see the need for paying for extra Cloud space.   Is this the reason why?

  • Free Phone Friday

Here it is thursday night and no one at BB knows anything about the free phone giveaway tomarrow morning. It's been advertised all over the web and at BB website but if you call the store guess what? No one there has a clue, can you believe it? What's up with that. Makes me wonder if I want to due bussiness with cluesless people. Oh I get it, they don't want anyone to know about it so they don't get stampeeded in the morning. Ha Ha!!!

Yeah they want people to think they had no knowledge of it.  I bought my samsung on mon 9/27 for $150and the next day I saw the press release for the promotion plastered all over the internet!  I called the store to see if I could get my money back and they said no that they did not know about the promotion.  So I called customer service and spoke to someone that again said they didnt know about the promotion but I could get my money back for the phone and I should call them back "if" the phone came onsale this month.  So friday when the promotion in fact started I called them back to get my refund and was told NO i couldnt.  i was on the phone for 1hr and 41 minutes with these idiots.  All I wanted to do was speak to a Best Buy Mobile supervisor about the fact that I was told I could get a refund but they kept jerking me around.  Waiting on hold for 10 to 15 minutes at a time to wait for a supervisor.  Only it turned out I wasnt speaking to a supervisor at all!!  I finally got some idiot who said they worked for the corporate office and he offered me "a sizeable coupon" for $40 for my trouble.  A sizeable coupon would probably have to equal at least 150 that I was promised. He told me that a fefund could not be issued because the terms were not good on previously purchased phones.  It is just rediculous how they treat their customers.  I guess it is acceptable to make promises and lie to your customers.  Well  Mr. Jerkface from BB corporate can suck it!  I took the phone back to a nearby store and OOOOHHH WHAT?!  They gave me a price match and REFUNDED my money.  So everyone watch those promotions and if you recently purchased a phone thats included in the free deal....Take it back!!

  • Smart Phone of your choice?

    Hi all,
which would be the (iSync-compatible) Smart Phone of your choice?
Blackberry is not really Mac-compatible, the latest SE phones don't support Macs...
Thanks a lot for a bit of personal advice.
    Peter

    Are you kidding?
Palm OS-based Treo smartphones synchronize natively with iSync, though not nearly as well as they do using the Missing Sync for Palm OS:
    http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_palmos.php
Hundreds of Windows Mobile OS-based smartphones, including those Palm Treo models which use it, synchronize using the Missing Sync for Windows Mobile:
    http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_windowsmobile.php
Pre-Windows Mobile 5 OS devices are supported also by an application from Information Appliance Associates, the publishers of PocketMac for BlackBerry, who have promised an upgrade to Windows Mobile 5 support for nearly a year now, but have yet to deliver.
One could argue all day about classifying a Blackberry as a smartphone—it's not one by traditional definition—but it's supported via the free PocketMac for BlackBerry published by Information Appliance Associates and hosted by Research In Motion, and will soon be supported by the about-to-be released Missing Sync for BlackBerry:
    http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_blackberry.php
Mark/Space advertises that product in pre-release announcements as offering a "reliable BlackBerry sync" experience. I'll leave it to the 'crackberry' addicts to argue whether or not such an experience is offered to users of PocketMac for BlackBerry. I haven't had much luck with the one product I purchased from Information Appliance Associates.

  • Can I use a BOGO free phone to activate a new line?

I have 2 phones, both eligible for upgrades. Son #1 needs a new phone and has selected a phone that has a BOGO offer. My wife likes her phone and does not want to upgrade it, but it is time to get son #2 his first phone. Can I accept the BOGO as an upgrade for my wife's phone but activate as a new line when it comes in?

LOL - no worries on the "critical details" - sometimes you don't realize what a difference a simple detail can make....and why I ask you to post back if my answer doesn't make sense or needs more clarification.  Upgrade questions are usually not simple...
    smahon wrote:
First, thank you for such a quick response. Second, an apology, for leaving out subtle but critical details in my effort to keep a complicated question simple.
OK, Son #1 is the primary line, for wich I'd like to use the NE2 (used to be mine, I have a work issued BB).  That actually makes it simpler, and better....
Wife's is the secondary line and she likes her blackberry.  Great - leave this line alone altogether....don't mess with it at all.
Son #2 "needs" a phone so this will be the new line, hopefully using the BOGO offer from upgrading Son #1  Yes, start a new line with the "free" phone on the BOGO deal you use when upgrading line #1.
So, my initial thought was to order the 2 phones to upgrade both lines and when they arrive, activate Son #1's upgrade and call to add a new line for Son #2 with my wife's "upgraded" phone. BTW, as I understand it, this will also force me to change plans.  You don't want to use your wife's upgrade - leave her line out of the transaction entirely.  Buy the new phone for #1 using the NE2  and 2 yr discount....and add a line to the family plan with the free one.
What plan do you have now?  And what phones are you planning to get with the BOGO deal?

  • Free Phone was not Free and no Customer Service

Why was I Charge a $30.00 upgrade fee when I received my new Commando 4G LTE phone.  The ad said it was free?  $30.00 ain't free!  I saw nothing in the add that said I was going to pay an extra $30.00.  I did buy an accessory package for $49.99, but my bill came to $79.99 plus tax, I believe this is false advertising.  When I called the number "For questions on your billing", I was on hold for 30 minutes and hung up, as I got tired of waiting.

Paying $30.00 for a free phone IS NOT FREE!  I don't care what you call it, it ain't free!
I've been with Verizon since they took over this area's Alltel customers and have never been charged for a new phone.  You're not going to build a very loyal base when you keep adding fees and raising cost ,  you can bet I'll be looking at other cell phone services in the future.  I just had my WiFi go from $10.00 to $15.00 a GB and now this.  I guess keeping your old customers isn't important anymore.

  • If I buy a sim free phone here and take it to the Ukraine, can I get a local sim card and the phone still work properly, while in the Ukraine?

If I buy a sim free phone here and take it to the Ukraine with me, can I get a card there in the Ukraine to use the phone with.  If that is possible, when I return to the states can I get an AT & T sim card and the same phone work in the states?  Thanks in advance for your help.

If you buy an unlocked phone, it will work on any compatible GSM network anywhere in the world. If you buy an unlocked phone in the US, it will not work on LTE networks outside of North America. The warranty is also only valid in the country where the phone was originally sold.

  • $350 free phone?

A Free Phone that I am paying $350 for - What kind of business practice is that? Customer Service manager that promises problem is fixed and then new manager refuses to honor agreement? Oh and by the way your 30 day change period has lapsed. Hours on the hold? Disreputable Verizon authorized dealer?  Read on...
My daughter’s cell phone (removed) screen cracked in March and she needed a new phone. We went to the Verizon store in Rockville and looked at several new phones. The salesperson told us she could upgrade immediately with an Edge agreement, but I wasn’t willing to pay for something that would be free on her upgrade date. Her upgrade wasn’t until June 25th, so she patiently waited and counted down the days until her upgrade date.
On June 25th, I took off the day from work to run errands and take her to get her new phone. We had planned to go to the Verizon store on Rockville Pike but we were in Wheaton. She googled verizon locations and it identified a store 5 minutes away. I was surprised as I didn’t remember that location, but as we pulled up, there was the large Verizon name on the store front. She looked at several phones and opted for the new version of her phone LUCID 3, which I confirmed with the sales rep was included as a free upgrade. We purchased a screen protector, signed the paperwork and left the store.
About a month later, we received our monthly verizon bill. It was more than the usual amount so I looked at the details. I was shocked to see Edge agreement charge for $17.49. It was a Saturday, so I called Customer Service immediately, since I don’t have time to call during the week. The agent informed me I had signed up for the Edge agreement and would have to return the phone to the store to cancel the agreement. I said that this was not acceptable as I never signed up for the agreement. She then informed the store was Cellular Connections, not Verizon. I asked to speak to a supervisor to see if there was another option, but was put on indefinite hold. Over 1 hour later, the agent picked up the phone to see if I was still on, I told her I could no longer hold and hung up.
The following Monday, I called Customer Service again. I told the agent how unhappy I was with the service I received on Saturday and how Cellular Connections had somehow bamboozled us into an Edge agreement, all the while telling us we were getting her free upgrade. The agent confirmed that the Lucid 3 my daughter got should have been free on June 25th and that it didn’t make sense for us to sign up for an Edge payment plan of over $300 for a free phone. I explained that between my working and my daughter taking summer classes it was very difficult to back to the store. She spoke with her manager and after 15 minutes said they had figured out a way to cancel the plan. The conversation took over an hour of time, but I was relieved to finally speak to someone who got it. She and her manager completed the necessary forms and said I would see the change on my next bill.
So imagine my anger when I opened this month’s bill and not only was there not a credit, but another charge for the Edge agreement. I called Customer Service and spoke with Amy. I told her I was very upset to be making this call as I had already spent 3 hours of time on this issue. I asked her to read the call notes and if the agent I had spoke with previously could call me back. She said that wasn’t possible but there was no need as I only had 30 days to cancel the Edge agreement and that time had expired. I told her that the agent had thought fixed the problem so maybe she could help me. Amy rudely told me, “Obviously she didn’t” as you are still on the Edge agreement.
I asked to speak with a manager and she told me she was a manager. I asked to speak to her supervisor but she wouldn’t transfer me. After about 30 minutes of getting nowhere, I hung up, very upset.
We have 6 cellular phones on 2 Verizon Wireless accounts and I am very seriously considering taking our business elsewhere. We have been with Verizon for over 20 years and never been treated so badly.
Cellular Connections represents itself as a Verizon store, but they are just a licensed dealer. The sales rep. sold me a phone for over $300 that should have been free.
Customer Service was unwilling to help solve this problem. Furthermore, the call notes reflect that the 2nd agent cancelled the Edge agreement and attempted to refund the charges. The 3rd agent/manager (Amy) very rudely said Verizon is unwilling to honor what the previous manager promised.

I am so fed up of reading quotes like....

Another case of not reading what you're signing and then it's someone else's fault.
sprmankalel could cut and paste this quote into almost all his comments.
The point here is the Verizon Authorised Reps. making statements that are false.
Why do it? Just state the fact that the customer is getting nothing and you should have read your contract......

Even if a contract was signed an oral agreement later should be legal.
