Re the old photoshop 7 system.

I have some old 35mm slides which are normally printed into positive pictures professionally. Can I scan them into photoshop on my Epson scanner into photoshop   and then invert them to a form suitable for photo printimg as I normally do with my digital images?

You mentioned: . . . I hope then that my scanned images when they are in Photoshop will enable the Film type section of Epson scan.
You've got this backwards. The Epson Scan options need to be set up correctly before you scan the images.
It does not work on images after they have already been scanned and open in Photoshop.
In your Epson Scan software under Original - Document Type, you should have 2 choices, Reflective or Film.
Are these not available in your version of Epson Scan?
Just noticed you mentioned the model name in post 5. This appears to be a combo scanner and printer.
Since this does double duty, I wouldn't be surprised if the scanning options are more limited than a stand alone flatbed scanner.
I'm sure the Zennox scanner you ordered will be able to scan and convert the negatives during the scanning process so that what you open in Photoshop will already be a positive image.
As a side note, since color negatives have an orange colored emulsion, a simple convert  (Ctrl I) in Photoshop by itself won't get you a proper image. It will have color balance issues that will need to be further worked on.
Good Luck!

    Hi all,
I have CC subscription, and have recently upgraded photoshop to CC 2014, how can I uninstall the OLD photoshop CC version?
    Many thanks

I usually keep my old versions until I'm certain I no longer need them.

  • Now that I have installed Photoshop CC 2014, can I uninstall the old Photoshop CC

I migrated the settings.  I'm assuming I can just uninstall now...

I suggest waiting a while, and using the new version.  That way you can ensure everything you need is set up and working before closing off your ability to run the older one.
I have heard rumors that uninstalling the older version might actually do bad things to the LightRoom to Photoshop interface, which some folks have said is fixed by then uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of Photoshop.
Unless you need the disk space there's really nothing terribly wrong with leaving the old version there from now on.

  • I have a psd file made in Photoshop CS5 which I have to send to a Graphic Designer who works with the old Photoshop Version CS3. He can`t open the psd.

What to I have to do now? Is there the same possibility as in InDesign to export it as an Interchange Format (IDML), so that he can open the document without any problems?
    Thank you for your help...

Those are the three possible settings – which one have you chosen?
Regardless, if the psd file has been saved in Photoshop CS5 with Maximized Compatibility it should be able to be opened in Photoshop CS3.

  • Downloaded Apple Maverick. Now I can't use my old Photoshop CS3. I don't like the new photoshop foremat because I cant see the small ruler measurements. Help, I wish to use the old Photoshop CS3.

Adobe says to contact them...HOW.  I'm going all over their site and being moved to other site questions that don't pertain or answer my question,

Did you install photoshop cs3 already?
Or you updated your old mac os with mavericks and photoshop cs3 won't work?
What happens when you try to run it on mavericks?

  • I have an Imac using the old Classic operating system.  The printer I was using died and I need a new printer that will work on the OS 9.1/9.2 operating system.  Does the install disk that comes with the printer allow the computer to communicate with the

My printer died and I need a printer that is compatable with OS 9.1/9.2.  Some printers say they are compatible with OS 9.1/9.2 but do they need a driver or is it included with the install disk that comes with the printer?

As long as the printer is accurately described as being compatible with OS 9.1/9.2, if it needs to have software (such as drivers) installed that software should either be included (usual) or downloadable from the net(usually from the manufacyrer's website).
Not all non-Apple printers need drivers installed. Some, such as many Postscript ones that connect via ethernet, are quite comfortable using the LaserWriter 8 printware that's part of OS 9. Some of those, though, may need to have a model-specific PPD (Postscript Printer Description) installed, a small document that informs the printware of the capabilities of the printer.

  • OSD - Install fresh Windows 7 but keep the old XP file system

Hi, I'm just wondering if anybody out there has any experience with what I am trying to do:
We are upgrading all of our WinXP machines to Win7. We are using SCCM OSD to push out the OS Image. I'm wondering if it is possible for my task sequence to take the existing data on the C: drive and move it to a newly created D: partition, leaving the C:
partition blank. Then, Windows 7 can be installed fresh on the C: partition, but all of the XP data is not wiped out.
I can't quite wrap my head around this to see if its possible. I'm using SCCM 07 without MDT.
Management is very concerned about possible user data loss, so this could be a way to appease them.
    Thanks in advance.

It might be possible, but it's nothing I've heard of anyone doing before so you're probably on own on how to accomplish it. MDT does include the ability to create a backup WIM of the drive though which is probably a much better option.
The main problem with either approach though is how do you know if you have enough disk space to do this locally? What happens when you don't?
A couple of questions for your "management":
    - If they are so concerned about user data, why do they let the users keep the data local in the first place? Sorry, but they are contradicting themselves on this one.
    - What happens if a local hard drive crashes today? Once again, this is in stark contrast to what their *new* requirement is.
Ultimately, if management is truly concerned about user data, then they should invest in a solution to maintain user data integrity all the time, not just during the upgrade. If they are not willing to invest in a solution such as this, then their requirement
isn't as important as they think that it is.
Between USMT and user guidance to ensure all critical data is within their My Documents folder, most organizations are able to successfully migrate their users off of XP without any issues or data loss.

  • Which is the comparable program to the old Photoshop 6.0

I still want to be able to manipulate and adjust
the images but I'm not sure which program I should
    buy: CS4, Lightroom, Elements.

With Elements are you able to liquefy
    and manipulate the image?
Can you merge other images together like in
    6.0?

  • Missing the Firefox button; instead I have the old menu system.

I just downloaded the beta 7 browser. I was excited about some of the simplistic stuff, like the menus being contained in one button, the Firefox button. However, the button is not there and I still have the old menu toolbar system. How can I switch this?
    Thank you!

Right-click any Toolbar and deselect Menu Bar.

The old machine was running OS 10.5.8.  Not all my files transferred (or I can't find them).  I've seen recommendations to select the old computer in System Preferences, but that didn't work.  Help.  Thanks!

IMO, wrong choice. Start over, using a FireWire cable and following the steps in Pondini's Setup New Mac guide.

  • Cant reactivat an old photoshop version

I gave my uncle the old photoshop version 8 and deactive both installations on my computer. I deinstalled the version on my computers too. I buy a new version 11 and installed it, it is working fine. But I can active the Version 8 on the other compüter from my oncle. But we receive some warnings that the version is not activated. And we have a permaned internet connetion too.
Only the deactivation is highlighted under the help button
    Any Idea?

You need to contact support directly for activation/deactivation and other installation issues. It’s usually possible to start a live chat, if an Adobe agent is free, and often to get the problem fixed right away. You will need your serial number.

  • CS upgrade install can't find old photoshop - need unlocking key

Well, I guess I can't call support anymore.  I had to do a reinstall of windows and now I need to reinstall my Creative Suite Standard.  It is an upgrade version and works off an old copy of Photoshop that I had.  In the past, a few years ago, when I set this up I had problems with the upgrade not recognizing the old Photoshop.  I ended up calling in to support and my licenses were verified and the old Photoshop did fulfill the requirement to install the upgrade.  The person on the phone had me do some special hold a key and click and enter an "unlocking key".  I believe this is different than an unlock code.  The one they gave me last time does not work.  Again, I don't seem to be able to call them anymore.  Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • I updated Firefox to 32.0.2 and lost all passwords. Oddly still have all bookmarks. How can I recover the old passwords?

The title sums it up, if there's more information I need to provide please let me know. Currently when I look up passwords using the password manager in tools, options, security, show passwords it is empty. Hoping there's a way to restore all of the old passwords.

Your System Details list shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time Firefox starts.
The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be there.
You can check its content with a plain text editor (right-click: Open with) if you didn't create this file yourself.
The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.
You can delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.

I get an error message saying 'An error has caused Photoshop to stop working correctly. Windows will close the programme and notify you if a solution is available'. I have had no notification. My old Photoshop CS5 works fine, but as I'm paying for CC2014 I would like to use it. I have tried renaming the 'sniffer' file to 'snifferold' as bobmiller4002 suggested but the problem is not resolved. Lightroom works fine.

    Hi Nancy,
I'm not sure I have the answers to all your questions. Although I use Photoshop and Lightroom extensively, I'm not a 'techy'.
    My system;
    Packard bell imedia S2885
    1TB hard drive
    500G RAM
    Windows 8.1   64- bit
    Intel core i5 4440
If I open Photoshop cc14 without opening any image, I still get an error message that reads: 'Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled enhancements which use the graphics hardware'.
There is also a link to the Adobe help site, but I'm not sure exactly what I should be downloading from there.
             Thanks,
                        Dan.
