Re: Windows Mail - Server Terminating Connection w...

Just joined the forum.  I have had this problem for months now and thought it was my laptop which was getting very slow. Setting up Outlook on a desktop PC I find I have the same problem so started looking on the web for answers and found this thread.  I live only metres from the exchange, so speed is not a problem.  Also all emails fail several times during download whether with attachments or not.  Very frustrating.  Still, I have decided to move to another ISP in November once my contract finishes.  Any recommendations would be welcome.

Silverdog,
Based on the limited details you have provided it may be that you have particular problems.
I would suggest that you re-post in the
BTCare Community Forums
Broadband
Other BB Queries  section.
starting a new thread on "Frequent Failures downloading emails".
Give details of your operating system, email client, and ADSL details from your router, and the community may be able to help you.
I would think twice about moving ISP as while BT Customer Care needs to improve most other ISPs are equally bad or worse.

  • Windows Mail - Server Terminating Connection when ...

This is a message related to a very well established forum full of many, many irate BT customers. I'm posting this long standing complaint here because in the forum I speak of, we are all being totally ignored by BT.
BT, after months of dissatisfaction, can you (a) acknowledge / confirm the problem and (b) fix the problem.
Here is the link to the forum in question - 8 pages worth of extremely dissatisfied and angry posters:
    http://community.bt.com/t5/Other-BB-Queries/Windows-Mail-Server-Terminating-Connection-when-download...
If you don't take action, I (and many others, I'm sure) will go public on this issue.
At the end of the day, we don't want to continue paying for service that doesn't deliver!

To both people who replied to my post - I know only to well what forums are for but I'm so angry that all our posts in the forum (the one with 8 pages worth) just evapourate into thin air. You have to question the intrinsic value of at least some of these forums. I don't speak by any means for all forums but in ours we are all at our wits end - and furious because we are paying good money to BT for a "service" that doesn't deliver.
It's not good enough despite you correcting me as to where I should and shouldn't post. Have a look at the forum and you'll see what I mean. Yes - we have supported one another but we now all know exactly what the pronblem is after many months. The Sage has made around 4 posts all of which advocate we should all change to IMAP but this is missing the whole point. Our BT e-mail service is supposed to work through POP3 and indeed BT has standard POP3 settings for mail clients.
Myself and numerous people have been through all the official help and support channels to no avail. Customer Service is really poor. They tell you to follow a standard set of instructions by way of a "fix" but they refuse to recognise the issues we have.
But to finish, where do we all go from here when (a) many people have known for months what the issue is - it's a BT Yahoo server-side problem and (b) many people have reported this long standing issue (since Feb-12 or earlier) through the official BT support channels and still nothing has been done.
OK. No more posts from me. I'm at my wits end and both your replies have discouraged me from participating any longer. Very disappointing.

  • Windows mail server migration

    Hi all,
I have a client who wants to migrate his windows mail server to Mac OS X Tiger. Is it possible? If yes, how?
    Thanks in advance
    regards,
    Pradeep
      Mac OS X (10.4.4)

We migrated from MS Exchange 2000 to OS X Server Mail, just 15 users but tons of gigabytes of mail. What i did:
-set up IMAP on Exchange 2000 (we already used it), all mail has to be stored on the server
-set up Mail Service on OS X
-set up User Accounts on OSX Server, activated Mail for each user
-synced each user account from an OS X client computer using "imapsync". It works like an IMAP client copying all mail to the new mail server, it can keep the seen flag and does not produce duplicate mails. there is a description how to invoke imapsync automatically for a list of users.
-did a reconstruct -r on OS X Server to be sure the mailboxes are clean
you can get imapsync via darwinports.
    it's worth the work...

  • Windows Mail will not connect with Comcast server

I've been getting the following error message all day today when trying to send/receive email via Windows Mail: Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'mail.comcast.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F I've verified that all email account settings are correct using Comcast George's post, and with two Comcast phone reps.  I've disabled email scanning on my Norton 360. Nothing about my setup was changed recently.  I have successfully received emails on this computer/Windows Vista/Windows Mail for years with no problem. First Comcast rep basically said "Tough, b***h" since I am able to access my email via Comcast's web site.  She viewed the issue as strictly a Windows Mail problem. Second Comcast rep had me change all settings on my account, with no solution.  Then said she would escalate the problem on up the line. Does anybody have any ideas on how to make this work once again?

AV programs don't like being told what to do. ;-) AV programs are pegged as the most likely culprit when Googling on 0x800CCC0F. Upgrading to Windows Live Mail is often recommended, and I recommend trying a different email client as well, but my recommendation would be Thunderbird. MS email clients are famous for quirky problems. On the other hand, someone with a similar problem (on a Mac, so different error message) changed his password and things started working again. I'm a little skeptical about that, thinking that it might have just been coincidence, but it could be worth a try. To see if you're having the same problem, you could turn on logging in Windows Mail and post the log here. Tools|Options|Advanced|Maintenance|Troubleshooting. Click on the Store Folder button above the Troubleshooting section to see where the log file will get saved. Remember to turn off logging when you're done troubleshooting.

  • Setting up CF mail server to connect to ISP mail server

I would like to setup a testing evironment and use my ISP's
mail server to test and create CF mail applications.
When I tried connecting to the ISP's mail server which is
"smtp.comcast.net " I received the following message from
CF admin "Connection Verification Failed". I also tried
entering my user name and password before the server name
    (e.g.: [email protected]:[email protected]
What would cause the communication failure from the CF server
    to the ISP's mail server?
If I cannot get this to run what alternatives do I have?
I am using WinXP pro. Can I install a mail server on my local
machine and configure CF admin to connect
to the mail server on my local machine?

You can install the SMTP server on your computer.
    Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove
    Windows Components >
Internet Information Services > Details . check the SMTP
    Service checkbox
Then use localhost as the mail server.

  • Mail server: TCP connection failed

    Hi,
I'm hosting my own mail server on my SnowLeopard server. I've got an Internet Domain Name (cinema-voiron.fr) and a fix IP address. The router which manages my internet connection redirects incoming smtp request to my server using NAT (port 25 opened on my server and on my public IP)
I successfully receive mails from most of people excepts for those with an mail address which is [email protected] Looking in the mail log file, I did not find any mail sent from these addresses. Using tcpdump on my server, I discovered that it seems that the TCP connection between my mail server (passrlminisrv) and the remote smtp server fails.

Any idea of the root cause? Could it be an issue with my DNS configuration or is it related with my own smtp server?
Thank you in advance for your help
    Xavier

Fixed it. The root cause is the router layer of my internet modem which is not managing properly TCP windows scaling. I created a new virtual interface on my server on the same subnet of my modem to bypass the routing layer and it works.

  • Windows Multipoint Server Station Connection Issue

I'm trying to join our Windows Multipoint Server (2012 Premium) to our domain.  After joining the server to our domain and restarting the server, I receive the following message when the primary station begins to load.
The station is attempting to connect to localhost.
Press the ESC key to switch to console mode
The connection failed with the following error:
The remote computer requires Network Level Authentication, which your computer does not support.  For assistance, contact your system administrator or technical support.
    Error code: 0xB09:0x0.
We have some of the Dell Wyse E02 Zero Client on the way, not sure if these will experience the same issue.  I would assume so since its related to Network Level Authentication.
NOTE: Our Domain Controllers are configured as follows within Local Security Setting.
Send NTLMv2 response only. Refuse LM & NTLM
Any insight into possible resolutions is greatly appreciated.

  • Windows Mail server error 501

Every time I foreword an address or web page etc. using the "File" E-Mail Link the following happens. The e-mail is sent but there are five old error messages shown below. The e-mail goes trough but I have to hit the [close] box to clear the sent message. I can't figure out how to remove the old rejected e-mail addresses.
Here is a copy of the message.
The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.
The rejected e-mail address was '*****@picturetrail.comAccount:2051017:return'. Subject 'Account:2051017:return', Account: 'Dave's Mail', Server: 'smtp.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '501 Syntax error in arguments', Port: 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 501, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

This has nothing to do with Firefox. Mail is being rejected as you have set up your mail in a wrong way with incorrect ports etc.. Please contact the appropriate people for this issue and not here.

  • How to connect to Window 2003 server using "connect as"

How can I set up Lion to easily connect to specified shares in the windows 2003 server. I want to authenticate as a user other than the one I am logged into on my Macbook? I am setting this up for teachers in a school. The macbook may be used by multiple teachers. Best way (simplest) please.

    Hi
Let's pretend the Windows Server has an IP address of 10.10.10.254
Go Menu > Connect to Server > smb://10.10.10.254. When prompted enter the account credentials of a user (username and password) that exists on the Windows Server. Alternatively you could use cifs://10.10.10.254. Either one will do. Assuming no 'silliness' on the Windows Network Administrator's part the share should mount.
For ease of connectivity afterwards you could tick the 'remember password using keychain manager' box. Personally I find keychain manager more trouble than it's worth. However you deal with this as you see fit. If it's multiple users using the same workstation I would not enable the option.
Once mounted you can view the Server Share on the user's Desktop by enabling the option in the Finder. It should appear as a blue-ish drive icon on the Desktop. Add the icon in that User's Login Items in the Accounts Preferences Pane. Think of it a little like the Windows equivalent of "mapping a network drive".
Next time that user logs into their local account and provided the workstation is connected to the same network, the share point should mount.
You could also or alternatively drag the share icon to the right hand side of Dock. Click on it to re-connect to the share after you've disconnected from it.

  • Help: Mail server refuses connection to port 143

    Hi,
i am having this problem with accessing mail from my mac. It is a recurring problem everytime when i use Mail to access my .mac account.
This is what in shows- "There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Check the settings for account "[email protected]" or try again.
The server error encountered was: The server "mail.mac.com" refused to allow a connection on port 143."
I m very puzzled by this, it is a problem that happens on an 'on-off' basis, so sometimes it is ok and sometime it cannot access the server.
    Please advice on this issue.
P.S i can access mail via Safari online.
    cheers
    2Ghz Macbook 'White'   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I'm not having the same problem.
It occurs every time you use the Mail.app to access your .Mac account and if so, how long have you had the account?
The default incoming mail server port for IMAP type accounts is 143 and since a .Mac type account is really an IMAP type account, are you accessing any other IMAP type accounts with the Mail.app?
How are you connected to the internet - via an Ethernet connection to a Cable or DSL modem or thru a wired or wireless router connected to same?

    Kind Regards

I was also having lots of issues over the last two days, but found an easy fix...
    1) Go to Settings
    2) Mail, Contacts, Calendars
    3) Choose your Yahoo account
    4) Hit your Account name at the top
    5) Check you password... my password was not right -- don't know if it was remembered as an old one or if it was just dorked up altogether, but I corrected it and now everything is fine.

  • LAN Problem in Windows 2003 Server (LAN connection disabled)

I have installed LAN in Windows 2003 Service. But it shows LAN connection disabled.  LAN connection is also proper.
I asked local vendor, he told me that it may due to virus problem. i do not want to format the machine against. i have very much useful data in it.
    Kedar

    Hi
Do you mean you have plugged in the network cable to the server and the network card showing disabled.
If its disabled in the network and sharing then you need to enable it.
If you can't see any network connection in the network and sharing form control panel then check if the network card driver has installed properly.
if you can see the network connection then simply right click and enable them.
    Thanks
