Refresh Workbook 7.0

Hi,
I have a workbook which was working fine earlier. Today I changed the underlying query by adding a new characteristic and its attributes. Since then the query does not reflect the new fields in the workbook. When executed in the query, it is working fine and the problem is only when executed as a workbook.
I tried adding a few more characteristics and now the order in which these objects are shown is totally different from the way they are put in the query.
I had a small piece of Macro Code written in the workbook. Now I have removed it too. But still no luck.
Did anybody face this problem before? Version is BI 7.0 SP 15.

Hello Kiran,
If you don't have any format in the workbook, just remove the query using BEx toolbar and insert the same query in the workbook.

I have created a workbook for one query. I want the workbook to be refreshed everytime, a user tries to run it.
Any advice ?

According to SAP Help-->
<b>Refresh Workbook on Open</b>
<i>If selected, when you open a workbook from the server, the query is automatically refreshed with values from the server. If not selected, of if you are opening a workbook from your local file system, you must manually refresh the query after you open it to retrieve the latest results from the server.</i>
Go to the Design Toolbar, the last button, workbook settings will allow you to select this.

Refresh workbook option in express spreadsheet

Hi
In the express menu of express spreadsheet add-in there is an option for refresh workbook.How can i call this option in vba.for the refresh query option in the menu xprefreshquery() command works in vba.But there is no such command for refresh workbook in vba api.
If anyone has a solution pls help

I presume you would have to programatically walk through the worksheets within the workbook and issue the refresh option for each worksheet.

Refresh Workbook on Pre-Calculation Server .

Hi,
I am using Pre-Calculation server to broadcast the workbook through Email.
But the workbook is not getting Automatically refresh on Pre-Calculation server.
I had also done the setting for 'Refresh Workbook On Open' in workbook setting.
Please help me to solve this issue.

Refreshing Workbooks loses variables

I have a workbook with many queries, but when I refresh the variable values are erased. What shouldbe done so as to refresh and have the previous variable values loaded?

Check up with work book settings, check if the setting "Refresh the variable on work book refresh (Process Variables on Refresh)" is set, uncheck it, or " Opening a workbook for which the Refresh Workbook on Open indicator is not set" - in this case When you update the workbook, the system checks whether it contains mandatory variables for which no values are available. If no values are available, the variable dialog is displayed; if values are available, the workbook is displayed straight away.
You can, however, manually change the variable values by choosing Change Variable Values to call the variable dialog.
Try setting the personalised varible setting or the setting that "start variable with previous value".

Error when refreshing workbook in BEx: Specific Macro CallBack not found

One of our users is getting the following error when refreshing any BEx workbook (in BI7):
Problems while calling the exit on refresh: Specified Macro 'CallBack' is not found in the workbook
This error suddenly started this week, everything was fine before that, and no changes have been made to the user's PC. The problem is specific to this one user's PC.
Any ideas?

It seems a common error.
There is a note that mentions the error, and was fixed since BI addons SP 8
Note: 1267942 - Custom macro not being executed on a workbook
Download and test the latest version: bi710sp12_1200-10004472.exe
This should fix the issue.
FYI: SAPGUI 640 is not supported by SAP since 2008. If you are using this version, please download the SAPGUI 7.10 as well.

Event ID 18221 after clicking refresh workbook

Hello all,
We have a SharePoint 2013 farm with excel services, besides we have a server with two SQL 2012 Sp1 BI instances one for database (default instance) and one named instance (servername\powerpivot) for sharepoint mode analysis services. In sharepoint we created
a powerpivot gallery and load a workbook with powerview features. When we load the workbook, it creates its database in the remote analysis service correctly, but, when we click data->refresh connections we get the following error:
External Data Refresh Failed
An error occurred while working on the data model in the workbook. Please try again.
We were unable to refresh one or more data connections in this workbook. The following connections failed to refresh:

At the same moment, in the database server we can find a couple of event:

This issue might be caused by the SharePoint Server pass the incorrect credential to the SSAS Server. In SSAS Server side, I would suggest you create a SQL Server Analysis Services trace and then capature some events to check the login information when
you refresh a worksheet from SharePoint Sever. Here is an article for your reference, please see:

Please aslo check that you have enable remote access to ensure Windows firewall will not block the connection.

In addition, 최적화기 is right. Please restart Excel Services and reboot the Analysis Services server after configure "Act as part of the operating system" privilege on the local server.

Refreshing Workbook

Hi,
We have workbook and we have done some formatting for displaying of filters in the workbook.
Initially when it is displayed we have cut pasted the display of filter values on rightside of the workbook and saved the workbook.
Now we changed the Query to exclude one GL Account and Refreshed the workbook.
But the filter to exclude GL Account is not getting displayed on rightside of the workbook but it is excluding that GL account from the report .
Is there any way to display the filter values the workbook apart from re creating the workbook again.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!.

you can use a text element to display filter values. Insert a text element and in the filters tab, check the variable you want to display.

Refreshing Workbook in Bex

Hi,
I have a workbook which shows result in the form of chart. What' happening is that when I open the workbook it shows me the old saved chart info before showing the prompt and once i select the values then refreshes the chart.
What I want is the when i open the workbook it should open as blank one and when i select the values from the prompt then it should displays the result in the form of chart.

delete the result and graph before saving it as work book and right click in the workbook and select "Refresh Query when opening workbook"

Unable to refresh workbook in analyzer

Hi,
If I click on the refresh button in analyzer to refresh my workbook,its not working.
We are using BW 7.0 and Excel is 2007.
Any solution for this issue ?

Hi Arun,
The refresh Button (with a refresh Symbol) is not actually a refresh button to refresh the Workbook.
This button pauses/ un pause the automatic refresh that will happen when you manually type in the filter values.
You can click on the variable screen button to refresh the work book.

I saved workbook wiht 3 sheets. each sheet, query is same but setting for filter value is differents.
ex, sheet 1 = division A, sheet 2 = division B, sheet3 = division C
When open this workbook again and refresh it, filter value for all sheets are same
How can i keep filter value for each workbook sheet?

If you are placing the same variable in all queries, the filter will be the same.
If you want to have separate places different variables.

Broadcasting of workbooks, auto-refresh and other questions

Hello Reporting gurus.
Our users run BEX Analyser queries but this is evolving towards more automation and fancy things. A lot of threads exist on the subject but I have not been able to find clear answers. We are on BI 7.
1) How do we use the broadcaster to refresh workbooks and output the results to a network share drive.
2) Queries being part of the workbooks work with user input variables. Do I have to change all queries (or create new ones identical) with user exits variables to fill in the fields for auto-refreshing w(ith let say the current year and current fiscal period etc...) ?
3) Is it possible to create a parameter input screen to pass on variables values to the broadcaster before the auto-refresh takes place so that I don't have to create user exit variables ?
4) How can we view workbooks with the BEX WEB Analyser ? Or do we have to create an application with WAD ?

Hi Yves,
in Analyzer you have an menu entry publish with BI broadcaster, then a broadcaster will appear. there you can create a setting. inside that setting you can use a variant and with SPS 13 also variable sets. There you can define the users who should receive the updated workbook by mail. It is not possible to save to file system, but you can save in Portal.Web Analyzer is only to use with WAD and is not able to process Workbooks.

Allow refresh of individual queries in workbook is not working

We are in EHP1 SP08, BI Analyzer 7.20 SP2 .
In workbook I have 2 queries I checked the "Allow refresh of individual queries" but I am unable to refresh my queries individual .
I tried all the options by removing "Process variables on Refresh", " Refresh workbook open" ,Display duplicate variables once.
I appreciate if anybody share with the solution
we are using OFFICE 2007.
is there any setting required in Excel.
I am thinking "CALLBACK" Macro may not functioning correctly.

The main disadvantage of workbook frequently this issues are coming .check the query if any one changed .then try to create a check box again.

Workbook refresh displays key instead of text

Hi,
We are on NW2004S rampup. Our support pack level for Quality environment is 7. When we execute the workbook in management cockpit in transaction UMM_PRES, the calendar month is displayed as text. When we refresh workbooks, the calendar month changes from text to key., like from Jan 2006 - May 2006 to 01/2006 - 05/2006. This happens for every refresh. On the other hand when we log back and display, text is shown and with every subsequent refresh key is displayed. This does not happen in Quality system under 3.0b version. My search on OSS notes does not get any relevant one. Anyone having similar experience?

I am able to get the result as text only after each refresh. This is made possible as follows:
In RSD1, I changed the following under BEX tab.
Display changed to Text
Text type changed to medium type
The Text type is new one in 2004S as compared to 3.x.

You have to check two areas
1. Have you chekcked bex refresh checked in the workbook properties
Right click on workbook result ->properties -> Interaction -> 3rd option
Refresh workbook when query is changed
2. During transport, you have to transport the workbook ..have you did that?
