  • Reg: Taking exams online

I want to take my OCA exams online. Can someone help me about the procedure to
be followed for taking the exam?

Currently, the only exam available for taking online is the 1Z0-007 Introduction to Oracle9i: SQL exam. Any other exam you take for OCA will be in a proctored environment.

  • How can i actually REPORT a fault rather than be t...

    Hi Folks,
Ive got quite a poor line here, with a lot of noise, occassionally I can hear other conversations and its VERY faint most of the time - so much so I sometimes have to use redial with my mobile just to hear the other person.
(Also to note my SNR on infinity drops to from roughly 6db to <0.5db over about 8 hours..... and then disconnects)
Ive had the line from master socket to pole replaced in the last few years, but at the time the engineer said "the underground cables round here are shocking - they need replacing".
I simply want BT to sort my line!!! I dont even mind PAYING for some new cable to the cab - its about 500 meters, ar at least paying towards it.....
I'd like to know what I can do - who I should contact etc.
Ive used the online 'fault report' and that just comes back with 'no fault found'.....
If i'm at fault (which seems unlikely since im running of a BT installed Master socket, on a newish wire, with no extensions....) then I don't even mind paying the call out fee.
I just want a good quality line and i'm banging my head against a brick wall....
your advice would so greatfully be accepted!!
    Best Wishes

  • No update on line fault

My phone line was reported to BT as a fault at 11:20am on Sunday 3rd February as it's dead - can't ring in or out though luckily broadband is still working. Fault tracking said it would contact me within 24 hrs so it can send an engineer but despite leaving an email address and my work phone number I've heard nothing and the online fault tracking shows nothing beyond that the fault was reported and traced on Sunday to somewhere near my house. When is this going to be sorted out. This is the 3rd time in the past year my line's gone dead and it's getting ridiculous.

BT do not provide or maintain the external network. This is done by Openreach who work for all service providers. BT do not get any special treatment.
Openreach have a backlog of work, so installation and repairs are taking much longer than normal.
They normally look at a fault within three working days, which means it should be looked at by the end of Wednesday. They try and repair it, but if the fault is more complex, it may take longer.

  • How to find out more info about an existing fault

    Hi there,
The whole village of Luib on Skye has been cut off because the main road was being resurfaced and the machine digging up the tarmac ripped up and mangled the main phone cable on 30th March. (Not the road menders' fault, but BT's because they never buried the cable properly. In fact, they didn't bury it at all, just hid it in the verge.)
I have logged the fault on my line and can get a standard amount of info using the online fault tracker. The thing is that all that's available is a standard message saying the phone is expected to be fixed in 3 working days. We (the villagers) don't think this is likely: It's happened before and BT need to order up a supply of the thick cable AND arrange traffic lights etc. We fear it's more likely to be a couple of weeks at best.
How can we find out more useful information? I tried phoning BT and pressing various buttons, just got the standard fault info, then was asked if I wanted to continue. When I pressed 2 for "yes" a voice said "Thank you for calling BT - Goodbye."  That wasn't the sort of continuation I wanted!
I have to say that we are heartily sick of the poor treatment we get here on Skye. BT seem to think that because we in a remote place we are not a priority. But consider this: Luib has both private houses and businesses, including mine, that need a phone service and broadband, credit card faciilities etc. and WE DO NOT HAVE ANY MOBILE PHONE SIGNAL.  This means we are totally cut off. What if there is a medical emergency?
OK: Rant over. But can anyone suggest how I might escalate this and/or find out some solid information. If it turns out there's a wait of a couple of weeks is there any way of putting pressure on to speed things up?
    Many thanks.

  • Line fault - Estimated repair date last Tues. What...

Our phone line went down over the stormy weather 8/9th Dec.
    Fault reported 9th Dec.
Engineer came out on 13th Dec. deduced fault was with line outside and left.
Have heard nothing since (which isn't surprising since bt's default way of contacting us is on the landline which is dead!)
When calling bt from a neighbours house on 151 we just get told the fault has already been reported.
Am using library internet just now. First chance I've had. Life is awkward without internet in the house!
Checked the online fault tracking details and the last thing on the list is
    Estimated repair date
    Tue 13th Dec 17:00
There seems to be no way to prompt them for an updated estimate.
    So what happens now?
Do we just have to check the phone everyday to see if a miracle has occurred?
    Yours grumpily,
    Sarah Skelton

my phone line went down 8/12/2011 reported it 9/12/2011 emailed them and gave them a mobile number for them to get in contact with me somebody rung later that day and told me it would me fixed within 3 days and a engineer had been notified. After 3 days still nothing so i emailed them again they rang me back and said that it would be on by teatime next day, next day come still nothing,so i emailed them again at this point it is now 13/12/2011 they did ring me back and said that they were sorry for any inconvinience and it should be on by teatime the following day which by the way iy wasnt. then the following morning which will be the 15/12/2011 a engineer rung me and said he would be at mine in a hour which he was.when i asked him why it had taken so long he asked my how long my line had been off and he said he had only just been notified of the fault i couldnt believe it i had been lied to for days. He did fix the line and told me that because it had been off for more than 4 days that i should contact bt as i might be intitled to a rebate but before i had chance bt rung me and told me that i owe them 17.10 i couldnt believe it the cheek of it no appoligies and where i owe 17.10 from i dont know cause i pay my bill every month so im far from satisfied with bt at the moment and ive had enough of them. sorry about my spelling lol

  • Infinity fault

I had infinity installed two weeks ago and last Friday at 10.30 it simply stopped working. After reporting the fault at 09:00 on Saturday morning, I am still waiting for the issue to be resolved.
The openreach modem dsl light is continual blinking green which, I believe, indicates that there is an issue at ppp stage.
On Saturday, I was promised that an engineer would attend this morning between 8-1pm. No-one showed up. This is despite my checking this morning at 10am to see all is running to plan and being assured that it was. My partner received a text confirming the appointment, clearly stating that someone would visit.
On speaking to customer service we were told that there never was an engineer due to come to the property! Without being cynical I don't believe anyone has done anything to help me. The online fault tracker says that this was being repaired before 1pm today!
At this point, we were told that someone will attend on Wednesday morning. From looking online I believe that this is no more than a faulty modem!
Please, please can a moderator help me or someone try and sort this out! My partner lost work today and I will again on Wednesday.
I have worked in customer service myself and helped get a company into the top 10 for UK service. BT, it shouldn't and needn't be like this!

I feel for you seanyj. Best bet would be to wait until Wednesday and if nothing has happened then PM the mods on this forum using this online form:

I hope all turns out well.

  • BT's Fault Tracking Stopped Working

I logged a fault online last Friday and received a target resolution date of the following Wednesday, and it's now Thursday. It was discovered that a road maintenance crew had partially severed the underground cable in the pavement outside our house (thereby cutting off at least a further three properties), and a telecoms contractor crew came to reconnect it on Tuesday. However my telephone service has not been restored and it's now Thursday. The online fault tracking information has not changed since last Friday, and a telephone call to the faults line gave me the diligent services of a foreign gentleman who seemed to know nothing of the fault.
I now have no other way to enquire what the current situation is, other than through this forum, so if somebody knowledgeable would care to advise me how to get some up-to-date information I would appreciate it.
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Reconnected at last! Thanks to the diligent services of Forum Moderator Craig my fault has been chased and escalated into a successful repair. But it's taken more than two weeks, from the initial fault report, for this to happen. The wheels of BT appear to grind exceedingly slow, and were it not for my mobile phone and the fact that I have a second phone line into the house I would have been stuck, and my neighbours have had to rely on their previously-little-used mobile phone.
The faults system seems incapable of dealing with several faults at a time, so the original jointing crew who (thought they had) fixed the damage to the cable only checked the line in the house for which they had a job sheet. So they didn't check mine or my neighbour's, only one further down the street, and that line was OK. However, they hadn't seen a second break in the wire which meant my line was still broken, whilst my neighbour's phone had earlier been re-routed through a second pair of wires by an Openreach engineer in an effort to fix his fault, so the jointer found the re-routed wires and reconnected my neighbour's line too.
The root of the problems seems to lie in BT's insistence that the faults system is managed centrally, with no communication between the customer and local managers or engineers. If there were regional managers with discretional powers who could visit and assess fault reports like ours I'm sure they would save a huge amount of time and money on the long run. The Openreach engineers who do visit are strictly controlled and are not allowed to do anything other than what's on their 'job sheet'. Contractors appear to be employed on a national basis rather than locally, with my particular jointing crew having to make a 160-mile round trip from Liverpool, to Kendal, then another job in Lancaster on the way home. A second crew is still to visit to put a permanent hot-tarmac surface on the temporary repair, so no doubt they will come from Liverpool too! I can't see how that's economical. Kendal has plenty of road contractors and engineers capable of doing in one visit what my jointing crew did in two. Perhaps they just wanted a second trip up to the Lake District!
As for the website Fault Tracking system, whilst appearing very informative at first sight, it seems a hit-and-miss affair, with updates only showing if somebody somewhere thinks to change it as mine did not report the current state of the case at most stages, and I don't think it's been updated yet. If it's an automatic system I would guess its functionality is limited once a fault becomes a little complex, as did mine. I guess it could do with an extra report module, such as "Your fault has baffled us for the time being, so please bear with us while we try to figure it out."

  • Faulty Line - No Phone service for over 4 weeks.

    Hi,
I've had NO phone or broadband for over 4 weeks and no useful information as to when this will be fixed.
I'm hoping someone could provide me with and alternative contact number to the 0800 800 151/0330 123 4151 one, where I can speak to someone who is willing to actually help me and not just quote the false information that has been presented to them.
I reported my fault on Friday 12th December 2014 and the online fault details page still shows an estimated repair date of Wednesday 17th December 2014.
Being reported on a Friday it wasn't until the Monday 15th that an engineer turned up, spent all day investigating the fault to say that it was a network fault but that the engineers needed to get into a manhole in the middle of the street and this would require traffic lights and someone who be in touch with an update.
No update received so I called and was told it took 5 days to arrange traffic management so engineers would be dealing 23rd/24th December.
Needless to say the deadline passed no engineers no phone. Next call on the 29th told engineers would be dealing 31st December or 2nd January. Seems to be a pattern developing here.
Called again, told traffice management was still to be sorted (thought this only took 5 days, what were the engineers doing 23rd/24th December or 31st December or 2nd January??????). Told engineers would be dealing 9th January.
Surprise, surprise no engineers no fix one falsehood after another.
Used chat this time only to be told "don't know why you were told engineers would be dealing on the 9th January, traffic management is still to be arranged.
But I was told this would only take 5 days back on the 16th December??????
Conversations just go round and round with no one willing to take owership of this fault and get it resolved.#
To add further insult both the engineer who visited back on the 16th December and at least one of the numerous people I have spoken to on the phone had said that there are several household impacted by this fault.
Knowing that I would have expected a bit more urgency.
Mobile service is poor at my home location and I have elderly parents who need to be able to contact me and my land line is essential for this. Hotspots are very weak and I'm lucky if I can connect for a few minutes at a time, and if other household members want to connect at the same time then there is no chance.
    Very disappointing.

Only people on forum that can help are the forum mods who are BT employees. They will post a contact us link.

  • Terrible service for the past few months, trouble ...

    Hi all,
I'm hoping I may be able to get more help here.
For the past few months my phone line has been incredibly crackily and faint, my broadband (not with BT) has also been cutting out for long periods of time making it almost impossible to use.
About 2 months ago an engineer came out and supposedly fixed the fault (I'm not even sure if there was one to fix) only a day later it was back to being crackily and faint.
I called up numerous times and did online fault checks, and nothing came of it, they said there were no faults!
During the past few months I noticed that when the weather is bad (wind, rain, wind and rain, frost) my phoneline is terrible and my broadband connection is non existent. I kept note of this and yup, everytime the weather is bad, so is my broadband+phoneline. It's completely fine when it's dry and calm out.
I contacted BT again (multiple times because the service is terrible) and they said there isn't a fault with my line and that I should call my ISP.
Today I called again because the phoneline was terrible as is the weather, they called my mobile to do a linecheck on the landline, then 2minutes later they put the phone down on me and never called back. I had waited over 30minutes just to get through..
It seems like I'm never going to get this fixed as it's almost impossible to deal with BT on the other end of the phone, and I can't do a fault test online because my internet is dead during the times it is bad..
I also reported that the wire connecting from my house to the telegraph pole is all loose and looks unravled, but they obviously didn't think it was a problem because they wouldn't send anyone out for it.
    What am I to do?

I called 151 and reported the fault, they found nothing wrong. As it's intermittent they are going to run a 24hr line test and then get back to me (though he said he'd call in the morning to let me know if an engineer needs to come out.. 24hrs?) fingers crossed the weather is absolutely abysmal tonight!
@HHGTTG If it eventually gets fixed, I'll probably always be waiting to let out a sigh when I see that the weather is bad. Haunted! I hope you're in the clear now.
@surfer157 Perfect, I just bought my nephew a land telescope for his birthday, now i'm going to scope out the wires if nothing comes of the 24hr line test!
My wire is all loose and looks like it has come unravled at the telegraph pole compared to the others that look like they are pulled tightly, so I'm pretty confident it's a similar, if not the same problem you had with a corroded wire. Not confident about getting it fixed anytime soon though...

  • How can I resolve an ongoing slow broadband(0.07 M...

I have had problems with my Broadband speed since beginning of June- it has been steadily getting slower until 1st July when it was 0.07 Mbps and is n ow virtually unusable. I reported it to BT on the 1st or 2nd and had to undertake various tests at home, new filter, unscrewing the phone socket etc. I was told it was a problem with the server, would be sorted in a week, that I would get a months refund and that I would be contacted on 8th before 12.00 to check all was well. Nothing happened. I called BT again, on the 8th, going through the lengthy process of selecting the right option and had to repeat the issues all over again, including the testing at home, even though I said I had done this a week ago and was told that it would be reported and sorted within 10 days. I sent an email on 26th July advising there was no change and I had checked the online fault status which just said a fault had been reported and was being investigated. I received a call from BT following this email, and was again asked to do the same tests. I was then advoised there was too high a noise level on the line, and that it would take 10 days to sort out, but I could call back if it was no better after that. I said this was ridiculous as I had already been waiting for almost a month and I asked the operative to call me back-he agreed to do so after 2 days. Yet again, no call back! on 29th July, I called again and was yet again asked to do the same tests at home. This tme I was advised it was a problem with the Hub, that I would need a new one but that I would not be able to use my mobile broadband with it. This would take 3 working days to arrive.I then asked who I could make a complaint too and was told the supervisor was busy, but the problem would be sorted out effectively shutting that avaneue too. I am not convinced the Hub is the problem as the speed did pick up to 1.45 Mbps for a day after the call on the 26th and the techincal team just go through the same process each time. Meanwhile I am asked to be patient and this unidentified problem will be solved! I need access to the internet for my studies and find I cannot access the sites I need as it just keeps trying to download then times out. Any help would be appreciated! Trudy

    Hello ,
Can you please post your ADSL stats by following this direct link; http://192.168.1.254/index.cgi?active_page=9116 << it only works if you have a Home Hub 2.0+ and remember to type your password in.
Also we need a speedtest Use this link http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9354/c/346,4740,5520 as it will also help you diagnose and give you a list of solutions afterwards, it does incorporate the http://www.speedtester.bt.com one though as well.
It sounds to me that you have a low profile, with your stats we can see if you've been having disconnections which makes the exchange raise your Noise Margin to try and increase your stabibility, but at a cost of speed, it may have been that your sync speed has recovereed, but not your IP Profile.
Here are some helpful (I actually did find them helpful!) tips from BT: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/35079 up to you whether you want to read those tips, because I did actually find them helpful.
Can you comfirm that you have no noise on the line.  Really a test by dialling 17070 and pressing option 2 for the quiet line test should be completed in the Master Socket with no other devices connected to the line.  ANd also do you have a master socket with a split faceplate that you can unscrew the bottom half, if so behind there is a hidden 'test socket', it disconnects all your internal wiring so just to make sure its not a fault inside your premises.

  • New lows of customer service by BT / Openreach.

    Sequence of events:
    1. Moved into new house.
    2. Booked engineer visit (2 weeks wait).
    3. Had to rebook engineer visit (another 2 weeks - my fault in this instance).
    4. Took afternoon off work to meet engineer and provide access.
    5. Engineer does not show up.
    6. Rung BT to ask if engineer definately coming - informed yes, engineer is definately coming.
    7. Received emails informing me phone and broadband accounts active.
    8. Engineer does not show by end of day.
    9. Another phone call to BT - "sometimes they activate remotely" - ok, so why no phone call that engineer visit not needed?
    10. Phone line and broadband checked - no dial tone, no broadband.
    11. Checked fault online, informed if fault is within my property would have to pay £99 for engineer. Fault is "close to my property" according to the online fault tool.
    12. Another phone call to BT - notified Openreach will be informed of the situation.
    13. Accounts are currently active (and charging!) despite no service.
    14. My "order" has been closed, despite having NOT been properly completed by BT, meaning that I am now tied into a contract and cannot go to another provider. Based on this intital poor showing by BT, if this were an option believe me, I would take it.
If BT 'knew' that an engineer visit was not required, why was I not informed? I took time away from work, for God's sake.
    Not impressed at all.

Just an update as where I am on this for anyone who is interested.
David the moderator got back to me and it was agreed that the charge would be removed from my bill. However it is four days later and the charge is still there. I appreciate all of David's help so far but unfortunately whatever system BT has in place to manage these issues isn't working. My bill is due in eight days time and if the charge is debited from my account then I will be taking BT to court.
Interestingly enough, no explanation has been provided as to why this utter shambles has even occurred, but judging by this recent article and some of the responses, I am fairly certain this type of thing is not uncommon.
    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/03/12/bt_missed_appointments/
I have already commented my experience on the article but I think I will probably drop the author a note in case he wishes to do a follow up case study. There is clearly some interest in this.

  • Error Reading a Shared Variable Array

    Hi,
I am having a problem reading an array of 20 unsigned integers from an Allen Bradley ControlLogix PLC with Labview.
I have set up a shared variable for this purpose.  I have set the Data Type of the shared variable to ArrayOf Unit16.  The Variable Type is Network-Published, and I have check the Bind To Source checkbox.  I think my problem is in the shared variable path.  I have tried the following with no success:
    MyComputer\ControlLogixTags.lvlib\RsLinx\ProjectX\Online\Faults\Faults
    MyComputer\ControlLogixTags.lvlib\RsLinx\ProjectX\Online\Faults\Faults[0]
    MyComputer\ControlLogixTags.lvlib\RsLinx\ProjectX\Online\Faults\Faults[]
    MyComputer\ControlLogixTags.lvlib\RsLinx\ProjectX\Online\Faults\
    MyComputer\ControlLogixTags.lvlib\RsLinx\ProjectX\Online\Faults
I have created a simple vi for testing.  I have wired the shared variable to an indicator which is an array of UInt16 items.  When I run the vi, I get an error which says "Error 91 occurred at Variant to Data in Text.vi.  Possbile Reason:  The data type of the variant is not compatible with the data type of the input."
Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I am doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Phil

    Phil,
In order to determine that you can correctly communicate with your OPC server, I would suggest creating a shared variable bound to a single tag. It sounds as if you already have an RSLinx I/O Server in your project library. Now you can create a new shared variable and use the browse option to browse the items of your I/O server. Be sure to select a tag that has a known value such that you can verify successful communication.
Also, does your VI utilize a dynamic data conversion? The error code mentioned (error 91) is normally associated with this data type. Our next step will be to look at this VI once we can establish successful communication. I hope this was useful for you. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

  • Fe_rpc_command: cmd_type(enum) on Sun cluster

    Hi
No matter what I do I seem to run into this problem.
I designed three HA agents and one is really simple and all went ok until I tried to bring the resource group online:
    scswitch -Z -g Ingres_rg
    scstat -g show:
-- Resource Groups and Resources --
    Group Name Resources
    Resources: Ingres_rg nodec Ingres_rs
    -- Resource Groups --
Group Name Node Name State Suspended
Group: Ingres_rg node2 Online faulted No
    Group: Ingres_rg node1 Offline No
    -- Resources --
Resource Name Node Name State Status Message
Resource: nodec node2 Online Online - LogicalHostname online.
    Resource: nodec node1 Offline Offline
Resource: Ingres_rs node2 Online Faulted - Unable to Failover to other node.
    Resource: Ingres_rs node1 Offline Offline
    And then in /var/adm/messages:

What am I missing here ?
Could it be related to :

    Any workaround ?
    Thanks in advance for help.

    Hi Thorsten
Yes you are right, I used scdsbuilder in this case.
Thank you for the directions pointed out.
I am not sure I fully understand what you are saying, but to clarify a little bit things as to what I am trying to do here.
ingstart when it runs it simply starts the DBMS installation in a specific manner, that is name server (iigcn), recovery (dmfrcp), archiver (dmfacp) , dbms server (iidbms) , net server (iigcc) . After that ingstart simply goes away.
So I can see that from this standpoint, the enumerated processes can be considered children of ingstart. But from a pid correlation, ingstart is not considered a parent for any of those processes.
The same if true for ingstop.
On the other hand, in a pure failover scenario, all I want to do is to failover to node2 from node1, when node1 goes down, either hardware problem or OS problem. Which means that along with the host failover (logical hostname pointing to node2 from node1), all I need is to run an ingstop (there are reasons to do that) followed by an ingstart. As to probing, it is not required for me in this case at all. I can see the value of probing, but in an active/active cluster, i.e. scalable resources et all, not in a failover one.
So, maybe you could clarify a little bit if possible how I should make use of Child_mon_level in this case and any other resources I may need to consult.
    Much appreciated the help.
    Thanks
    Armand
