Regarding Generation of Reports
Hi!!
The Link "Generating a report" is not working in tutorial section. Can any one tell me how to learn generating reports using Raptor
Thanx
Amit
Hi Waldemar,
Maybe the presentation (see link below) is not very relevant. But it may give you some ideas.

Automating Generation of reports and mailing it.
Hi,
How do I automate generation of reports and mail it through the Oracle Server. The messaging system being implemented out here is Lotus Domino Server 4.6
Regards,
Alka Mishra. Can you tell me more how to create store procedure UTL_HTTP or give me example and why I need to create a DB table with a DB trigger and give example too.
can I send to Internet email (if I have email address) or Unix mail only?
Thank you very much
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by The Oracle Reports team:
Assuming you are using Developer 1.6.1 or later and version 7.3 or later of Oracle database
1. set up the Reports server for web reporting (see whitepaper on configuring reports server available on otn for more info, and of course the doc).
2. Write a set of stored procedures that use UTL_HTTP to send an HTTP request to the Reports server. You can specify all the parameters to run a report on the URL (incl. running and mailling a report).
3. Create a DB table with a DB trigger that call the pacakged procedure you just wrote. Now every time a row is inserted (for example) into the table, a report can be run and the output mailed.
This will be made much easier/simpler in Reports 7 - but that is a way off.

Error in report generation-Load report failed
I have installed crystal reports for VS2005 runtime in my live environment. When i try to load the report file from a .Net page i am getting the error'Error in Report generation-Load report failed'.
This works fine in development and testing but when moved to production we are having issues.
I believe i have a workaround i.e i need to open the rpt in a VS 2005 environment and re-write the connection string again. This fix had worked in development and testing when we had the same issue.
But not sure if this is a known issue with crystal reports and if so do we have any hot fixes for the same.
Please help.Hi Don,
The reason why i posted the item on 'data Connectivity issues' is because i suspect the problem is with the connection string.Though i had provided the correct connection string,re-writing the connection string with the same info might help to fix the issue with loading the report.
Does it mean that there is a problem in the connectivity?
I have a risk here that i cant re-write the connection string..i.e to open the RPT file in VS2005 and bind it.The production web server & database server sits in a third party environment and it is not in the company network. So i cant connect to this server to re-write from any other severs in the network.
Is there any fix which can applied to the server to get this issue resolved?
Cheers

9i:Can Page number be obtained before the entire generation of report ?
Dear all:
Suppose there is a report, the report is printed on both side of paper
The page no of report (current logical page no and total logical page no) reset at each customer,
For each customer,
i want to print a logo on the front side of the last page (The logo would be read by machine so that it must be printed on the front side of the last page)
In 6i, As page no/total page no cannot be known in function/triggers until entire report generated.
so I have to generate the report twice
First) I have to get the total no of paper for the report of each customer
Second) Actually generate the report
so that i know which page the logo should be printed
(In the format trigger, when the front side of last page reached, return true in "format trigger of the logo" to print the logo)
However, the method is not effective.
Heard from others, 9i can solve the problem because in function/trigger, before the entire generation of report,
the total logical no of page and current page can already be known. (so that the generation
can be done at one time..no need to do twice)
any suggestion ?
Thanks for you helpHi,
So I cannot test from the report builder, I guess?Pl take a look here:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B10314_01/pbr_cla.htm#640470
This gives you a list of commands that you can use the keyword with. It says No for rwbuilder. So it may not be possible to test it with Builder.
Reading the other threads, this seems to be a very complicated thing to do, creating EAR, etc, and I seem to need 9iDS, not AS (I have AS)?One of the main reasons a JSP report is useful is - you can deploy it with your J2EE application, ie, you place the report JSP alongwith other JSP's of your application, and deploy the J2EE application (EAR). So thats why you see so many references to EAR's, packaging etc in the other thread that discuss JSP's.
Th answer to your Q is - no, you don't need iDS for deploying and running the JSP. You can run it from your iAS installation (thats what the iAS suite is for - deploying and running your reports that you developed using iDS). What you need to do is this:
Copy your JSP to
ORACLE_HOME\j2ee\OC4J_BI_Forms\applications\reports\web
Go to the Enterprise Manager, and make sure that the OC4J instance (OC4J_BI_Forms) is running. Now access your JSP with the following URL:
http://machine:port/reports/<Report_Name>.jsp?server=<server_name>+userid=<db_conn_string>
For complete information about deploying and running JSP's in iAS, refer to
http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B10314_01/pbr_run.htm#1011901

Kanban : Changed REM profile regarding generation of postprocessing records
Dear Gurus,
I am trying make a kanban container from empty to full and i am getting the below error message.
Changed REM profile regarding generation of postprocessing records - RM887
I have not change the production version or rem profile. This error is when i scan them to FULL so I have not used "Execute correction in dialog box mode" option in OSP2. NO COGI errors...
Any advice is highly appreciated.

Edited by: Senthilkumaran Virudhanayagam on Feb 24, 2010 3:55 AMDear Senthilkumaran,
Was there any changes made in the REM profile in OSP2 related to creating individual post processing records or cumulated,if not
was the REM profile changed in the material master?
Can you please check this and reply?

RM887- change rem profile regarding generation of postprocessing records.
Hi,
While doing MFBF (GR GI) I am getting error "change rem profile regarding generation of postprocessing records" Message No RM887. I am using same REM profile for many other materials for which MFBF is working fine. There are no COGI errors pendings for the materials for which I am gettinh error. But in MF47 there are some pending records which I neither can change nor delete, I am geting same message as in MFBF in MF47. So I have two issues here 1) How to adress error in MFBF. 2) Why records are seen in MF47 and not in COGI?
Thanks
Suresh.Dear,
Please refer the OSS notes 383141,202654, 885798.
In OSP2 Transaction, check whether the REM Profile having the Tick for "Create Cumulated post processing records".
If this is not there, and allowing the entries to go to COGI with Execute Correction in dialogue mode "Optional" will be a problem
Please try and come back.

Changed REM Profile regarding generation of postprocessing records
Hello Team,
I have tried to backflush a part number. I get this error:
Changed REM Profile regarding generation of postprocessing records
The intrigue here is that this same part number was backflushed last week without error.
I will appreciate your inputs.
Thank you in advance.Joel,
Check the material master for changes in REM Profile assignment, looks like the REM profile assigned to the material does not allow Post Processing records, so if there are errors during backflush like less stock, no storage location, batch not assigned, system would give error and it would not allow you to post the backflush.
If there are no changes in the material master for REM profile assignment then the assigned REM profile itself must have been changed in configuration in the path mentioned by fellow forum member. Please check and for "Error correction for backflushing" section definations.

Best practises regarding generation of the EOImpl and VORowImpl java files
Greetings,
I was wondering what is the best practice/suggested approach regarding generation of the EOImpl and the VORowImpl java files for ADF Business Components.
From the maintenance point of view, it makes sense to generate them only if you want to put some custom code in those e.g. validation or transient attribute.
However from performance point of view, does it help to have these EOImpl and the VORowImpl java files generated.
Any thoughts on this will be a lot helpful.

Sections:
* 5.11.3.3 Attribute Indexes and InvokeAccessor Generated Code
* 6.9.4.4 Attribute Indexes and InvokeAccessor Generated Code
Explain the details of the generated code for view object row classes and entity object row classes, respectively.
As described in the guide, the key benefit of the generated code is not performance, but of type-safe access and having a place to put custom code when needed.
When you don't have a generated row class, then there is no typesafe method like getSal() to get the Sal attribute.
Section 4.4.9 Generic Versus Strongly-Typed APIs gives a few more details on that and both 5.11.1.1 Generating Bind Variable Accessors and 5.11.1.2 Generating View Row Attribute Accessors give some concrete examples of the value proposition of the strongly-typed API's.
Without the typed API's of course, you need to get an attribute value by calling:
yourRow.getAttribute("SomeAttrName");
or
yourRow.getAttribute(3); // integer attribute index (zero-based) [see section 5.11.3.3 in the guide]
Since it's rare that someone will like to use the numerical approach, then let's assume that people would go with the generic getAttribute("SomeAttrName") way.
Internally, the framework will need to find the attribute index based on the attribute name before accessing the attribute. If you perform this attribute-name-to-attribute-index lookup a zillion times, then of course it would end up representing some overhead that you could avoid by either using the numerical index yourself, or generating the strongly-typed class. The generated code avoids the need to lookup the attribute by string name and also provides the compile-time checking (i.e. typesafe access) in your code.
So, the performance of using the attribute index access (or the generated code) that is ever-so-slightly faster than using the attribute access by string name, not necessarily the generation of code itself that makes things faster. The performance shouldn't be the basis of the strategy decision, but if they see the value of typesafe access then it might be worth the extra files -- some perhaps containing no custom code -- being generated for them.
Hope this helps

Report Generation: New Report.vi
Running applicaion in development mode works fine.
After compiling however I get Error 7: Open VI Reference in New Report.vi
Why am I getting this error?Has the version of Office on your machine changed since you installed the Report Generation Toolkit? The VIs will become broken if the ActiveX interface changes, and this can happen when the Office version changes. I recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the toolkit. Also, what version of Report Generation Toolkit are you using? The latest version is 1.1.1.

ric .sHi
The report MC.9 shows Last movement date/Last receipt date / Last issue date.
In period to analyze give appropriate date range
Or
check MSEG & MARD table to get details about material documents with date

I have researched the knowledge base and found:
Printing A Range of Pages or Number of Copies of a Report Using the Report Generation Toolkit in LabVIEW.
This seems to be from a previous version of LV. I am using LV2010. The instructions given do not match up with the current vi. The information did provide a tip and drilling down into the vi I was able to insert the from/to page numbers at the printout invoke method, however this prevents the print function from working in that it can no longer find the default printer.
The error message is:
Error 1015 occurred at NI_ReportGenerationToolkit.lvlib:Word_Print.vi -> NI_Word.lvclassrint Report.vi ->
error 1015 is: Printer is not responding. Check printer configuration.
Any ideas how I can make the modification to print, for example, pages 24 through 29 out of a 32 page word document?
Thanks,
ChrisHello, take a look at this article. Unfortunately the Generate Report Get Data to Modify.vi was remove since RGT 1.1.3 release. That being said, we can try to find a workaround. See "Configuring a Printer Through the Windows Dialog in LabVIEW", open the GetPrinterSettings.vi, at the PrinterSettings property node you can select the from/to page. I hope this helps.

Create Report Categories :
In this step, you define the report categories and determine the layout of the standard selection screen for these report categories. You can create report categories for programs or queries that are based on the PNP or PNPCE logical databases.
The definition of report categories is divided into two sections:
o In the Change Report Category view, you define general attributes such as sort order, input fields for date, and so on.
o In the Change Selection Criteria view, you define which selection fields of the logical database should be avaliable on the selection screen.
Adjusting the Standard Selection Screen:
In this step, you can adapt the standard selection screen for reports which use the logical database PNP or PNPCE to your requirements.
To do this, you assign a program class to the reports whose selection screen you want to change. The program class determines which selection parameters appear and which characteristics these parameters have.
Reports are assigned to report classes in the standard SAP system. By making entries in Customizing, you can override the SAP report classes.
When you call up a report, a check is carried out first to see whether you have assigned a program class to the report. If you have, the selection screen belonging to the report class appears. Otherwise, the selection screen that was assigned to the report class in the standard SAP system, appears.

Naveen.
