Regroup queries question in a workbook

Hello Bex Guru
I create a workbook with 15 queries.
Can I regroup in ONE screen the variable input ?
Now Bex display 15 times the input screen !!!

Hi,
Keep the same variable input in all the 15 queries, then it would display once only while running all the queries or refreshing the entire workbook
Thanks,
SKat

  • How to Insert two queries in a single workbook in BI 7 ?

    Hi,
I am trying to insert two queries in a single workbook. The queries are of Accounts Receivable.I have inserted one query in a workbook , but am not able to proceed to inserting the second query. In BEx analyzer, in design mode , using analysis grid , i tried inserting the second query but when saving and running, i am getting message " Variables are present, change their values " . should i maintain same variables for two queries ? i am stuck up. please explain me as how can this be done.
    Roja.

    Hi,
If you get the message "Variables are present, change their values" ,it means that the query which you inserted having variables.
You just click the "Change Variables" icon in the Analysis Toolbox, which will invoke the variable screen.
Set the values in the variable screen and click OK.
Now you will be able to see the data in the grids based on the values selected in the variable screen.
Both queries data will be displayed in the workbook.
Let me know in case of any clarifications!

  • How to insert  two queries in the same workbook in new BI 7.0 Bex web analy

    Hi
Can you please advise how to insert multiple queries in the same workbook in BI 7.0 web analyser.
    Sarah

    Hi,
You need to switch to design mode (BEx Analyser Menu - Design Toolbar - Design Mode). For each query that you want to embed, insert an analysis grid item in the workbook. Link each analysis grid to its corresponding data provider (query).
    Hope this helps.

If you Don't, then a workbook it's a sheet container. And sheets are each of the reports/queries that you have in a workbook.
And from the Discoverer manual, in the Glossary:
Workbook: "One or more sheets created and saved together. Each sheet is displayed in a sepa-rate tab in the workbook."
sheet : "A tab in the workbook window. A sheet displays the results of one or more queries."

  • How to identify what queries are embeded in workbook in bi 7?

    Hi all,
How to identify what are all the queries are used in the workbook in Bi 7?
can anyone help me on this!!
    Thanks
    pooja

    Hi,
Please check the table RSRWORKBOOK. Enter the name of the work book, it will give you the GENUID of the query. Pass these values to table RSRREPDIR. You will get the names of the queries.

  • Info broadcaster - falls over when more than 2 queries are in a workbook

    Hi everyone,
We use IB reports extensively with over 2,000 IBs being sent out weekly.
I have a query I want so send out via IB and I can create an IB setting on the query without issue.  However when I insert more than one version of the query in a workbook, and try to create an IB setting on the workbook, IB falls over once I select Create new Setting.
Its a fairly chunky query, we have no issues running the query in the Analyser and we have a number of workbooks with 20+ sheets and the query on each sheet, the workbook is fine.
Its just when we create an IB setting we have issues.
Anyone encountered this in your own businesses?
    Thanks
    Gill

    Hi Gill,
We can't say that the Broadcasting is successful,if you are abe to precalculate through backend. This just for a testing of preclaculation server and not for broadcasting.
If you are able to broadcast through web, then only we can say it is succeeded.

  • Multiple queries question

I have about 15 different queries on a page that come in
around 10ms ... which seems pretty quick, but should I be setting
up the queries up to be getting all the info in one <cfquery>
    statement
    ex.
heres a couple queries... how would i combine them? or should
    I just leave them alone?
    thanks for any help
    <cfquery datasource="clients" name="tableheader2">
    Select * from tableheaders
    where tableheadersID = 28
    </cfquery>
    <cfquery datasource="clients" name="tableinfo">
    Select * from tableinfo
where tableID between 60 and 74
    </cfquery>
    <cfquery datasource="clients" name="tableinfo2">
    Select * from tableinfo
where tableID between 76 and 87
    </cfquery>

I wouldn't worry about combining all of them as one query.
There may be reasons to keep them seperate. I would consider
setting up a stored procedure. Then you can just call it once to
get the data you need and have each returned row for what was one
    of the queries.
Also, just in case you didn't know, be specific about which
fields you want. The * will bite you in the butt for execution time
as more and more rows and even fields get added to that table. If
you only need 3 columns, make sure to specify them.
I also mention this since what fields you want would
determine what queries to combine. Like the last two query examples
you show could easily be combined but that's assuming you're
pulling back the same fields for each. If not you'd probably want
    to keep them seperate.

  • BSPRODUCTSEARCH uses different other queries : question

    Hi,
I the Campaign Product Search tile (which data source is BSPRODUCTSEARCH), I have to add a parameter using the SMOMVKE.MVGR5 field. I have added unbound checkboxes and some code in the beforeQueryExecute method to manage this.
The BDoc associated to the business query (PRODUCT_SEARCH) already has the MVGR5 parameter, as does the BQ and BDoc really called (BSPRODUCTSALES and PRODUCTSALES_SEARCH/PRODUCT_QUERY)
However BSPRODUCTSEARCH doesn't have the property linked to this parameter
For the moment, I have added a Z_MVGR5 property to BSPRODUCTSEARCH, and as I've juste found out about the onQuery() event, I'm about to add the link in it.
Would there be a way to use directly BSPRODUCTSALES ? Or am I just doing fine ?
    Thanks and Regards,
    François

    You were right, APC!
The NLS_COMP parameter was set to LINGUISTIC because of other queries that I wanted to be case insensitive and accent insensitive, but with those definitions the indexes on NVARCHAR2 columns are not used.
I'll have to find a way to maintain case insensitive searches and NVARCHAR2 indexes. Maybe redefining the indexes using something like CREATE UNIQUE INDEX u_index ON table (NLSSORT(field,'NLS_SORT=BINARY_CI')) and setting NLS_COMP to LINGUISTIC.
    Thank you.

  • Query of queries question

    HI All -
I have a query which returns the result set like below. The column names are like 1990, 1991, 1992 and there are certain amount for each year
    1990 1991 1992
    1000 5000 6000
    2000 2000 3000
I have a query of query which finds the sum of the amounts for year 1990, and I use the query like Select SUM(1990), it returns the sum of 1990+1990. How to make sure that 1990 is recognized as a column instead as a number.
    Thanks

The easiest way is to start your column names with letters.  If those are years, just prepend the letter y.

  • Inserting Multiple queries into a workbook

    Hi Friends,
I have to insert multiple queries into a workbook and each query should be in a different worksheet of the work book.
I have gone thru some of the SAP documentation, for example http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/3a/89883989676778e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
In above link under the fatures section it says
If you want to insert a query into the active workbook:
Open a workbook and, from the BEx toolbar, choose Tools ® Insert Query.... The query is then inserted into the current worksheet starting at the active cell
But when i chech in the tools under desig tools, i have lot of options like insert grid, insert checbox, radio button extc, but i dont have "Insert query".
I am using BI7 Bex analyazer, The Only way i am able to insert a new query into a work sheet using BI7 is that first i have to design the work sheet but including design elemenst in my case i am using Grid. But this is not giving the correct display.
Did anyone insert multiple queries in the same workbook? if you can you please let me know how did u acheive this?.
    Thanks in adv.
    Regards
    BN

    Hi Rajesh,
Thanks for your response, but in BI7 Bex analyser you dont have the option of insert query from tools.
Rather what i did is (maynot be the correct way), i have executed the query and saved it as work book and in the tools there is an option "copy Sheet". If you select this the same layout is copied to the 2nd sheet, there just change the assignment of design items to a new Dataprovider. Attach the new query to the new Dataprovider.
It works for me, as of now
But i have  questions regarding selection screen.
    1. In this work book i am embbeding 6 queries and each query individually has variables. When i execute the workbook i get the selection screen, in the selection screen all the common variables are shown in one grouping and other in a different grouping. Is this correct way of selection screen display?.
    2. I want to see the variable screen every time i open the work book, how can i acheive this?.
    Regards

  • Questions on Workbook

    Hi All,
I have few questions on Discoverer-workbook.
How do i delete a workbook from database ?
How do i import a new workbook in database ?
    Pls explain in detail.
    Thanks,
    JK

To delete a workbook you will need to use either Discoverer Desktop or Plus and delete the workbook using the workbook manager.
You can also delete a workbook using the command line utility available, with the -delete switch and -workbook modifier.
To import a workbook into the database, if you have its export available you can import it using Discoverer Administrator or the Java command line utility. If you have the workbook definition saved as a .DIS file you can load it using Discoverer Desktop and then save it to your EUL (and therefore into the database).
Consult the documentation using the links provided below.

  • Queries Published to Workbook Roles

    Hello Gurus,
I need some advice on this particular situation.
I currently have users in our BI systems (BI 7.0) that are assigned to roles specifically for workbooks to use with the BEX analyzer. In this case there are users who can publish queries to workbooks for anyone to use (as long as they're assigned to the workbook role).
Note:  To be specific, our business users do not create queries in production, but simply create a view of an existing query and make changes based on their specific need, which then can be saved to a workbook.
In the past we had workbook roles transported (in error) to production from development, which overwritten the queries published to the workbook in production. Updates to the workbook roles were only being made in production, so when the roles came over from DEV it wiped the queries that were created by the end users.  Iu2019m currently in the process on re-structuring the role authorization concept in our BI system and would like to incorporate workbook authorization to one role (role based security) instead of having multiple on-off roles for workbooks. Having one role means Iu2019ll need to work in DEV and push the changes to production, however with the workbook situation if any queries have been published to the one role it will be wiped every time a transport goes into production.
I would like to the following:
    1. Is there an alternative method to running queries without utilizing workbooks?
    2. What would be the best scenario or best practice when publishing queries to workbook roles?
    Regards,
    Wes

    Wes:
User cannot see favorites of another user in BEx Analyzer.
Instead of saving a workbook to the role and risk having it overwritten the next time the role is transported, your users could save their changes as a view ('save view global' option).  They will not be prompted to save as a favorite or in a role - it inherits whatever role the query is in and will not be overwritten if that role is transported.
Keep in mind that things like query properties set in the view are not retained like they are with a workbook, however.  The view stores the navigation state, variable values, etc.
    Hope this helps...
    Regards,
    Kerry
