Reload an infocube from an ODS with erroneous information

Hi:
I have an Infocube that is update from an ODS. My problem consists in the R/3 system from LO, they put an invalid string. It pass without a problem from R/3 to the ODS. But when it makes the request to load the infocube it displays red light because of this string.
I made a selective delete from the ODS, but when i run the chain proces just to load the data from ODS to the infocube it continue this mistake.
Is there any table that I have to delete?

Hi Herr,
The selective delete from the ODs would just remove the records from the Active table of the ODS, not the Change logs (from which the delta records move). If you like you can set up error handling in the InfoPackage loading to the cube, so that this record is held back and the others go through and reporting is enabled. Or if the record is required and removing it will change the numbers, you can try to change this record in the PSA and correct it, then load from PSA to the cube.

Using 'Update Data Targets' I am unable to schedule because though I see C2 in Data Targets, the message says that delta for the request so and so already processed. I selected 'Initial Update' to set up the load. I did uncheck C1 from the list of data targets. I also cannot do anything with Data Selection tab.
If I use the method of creating an export data source from C1, how can I avoid that it does not get transported to QAS or PRD?

Filtering data loaded to an infocube from an ODS

Hello people!
I have a question for you.
I have an ODS (lets name it ODS_1) that has for example information about sales and infcubes (CUBE_A and CUBE_B) that uses the ODS as DataSource.
In ODS_1 I have the information for all sales, but then, I want to load the information of a sale in CUBE_A or CUBE_B depending on the value of a characteristic of the ODS...
Is it possible? how?

hi Sebastian,
you can use that particular characteristic in the data selection tab of the infopackage which you will be creating to load the data from ODS to Cube. for infopackage_A where you will select characterestic value as A, u can select cube_A as data target and in the infopackage_B with characteristic value B select data target as infocube_B.

Data upload problem in delta update from 1st ODS to 2nd ODS

Dear Friends,
I am loading data from one ODS to another. The update mode was full upload. Sometime back an error occurred in activation of the first ODS. The error was: Full updates already available in ODS ,Cannot update init./delta. So currently daily records are pulled but not added i.e. transferred recs = 4000 but added recs = 0.
When I looked for a solution in SDN I found that using program RSSM_SET_REPAIR_FULL_FLAG for 2nd ODS will reset all full uploads to Repair Full Request which I have already done for 2nd ODS. Then initialize once and pull delta.
But problem is that I cannot set update mode to delta as I am pulling some 80,000 records in 2nd ODS from 1st ODS with around 14 lacs records daily based on some data-selection filters in infopkg. But do not see any parameters for data-selction in delta mode.
Please suggest.

Dear Sirs,
Due to this error in activation in 2nd ODS daily data upload is failing in 1st ODS.
To correct this I converted all full upload requests in 2nd ODS to Repair full requests.
But now when I scheduled the infopkg today with full upload again data was transferred but not added.
I know I cannot have init./ delta so what possibly can now be done in this scenario. Please help.

InfoCube Modelling-Adding data from different ODS's on to the Infocube

Hi Experts,
I am new to SAP BI. I have a basic doubt on Modelling the InfoCube.
In our requirement, I have to populate data from 9 custom SAP Tables on to 9 ODS's. And, then take these data on to Infocubes.
And, they want to reduce the number of cubes as much as possible. So, I have to combine the data from different ODS's and build 2-3 Infocubes.
For Example.
I am going to combine 5 ODS's data on to 1 CUBE based on Delivery number...
there are 5 ODS with common key Delivery number. And, suppose I have added some set of fields from ODS1.
And, now when I add other set of fields from the second ODS, WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE 'Delivery Number' field ??
I will make it clear.
I have a record in CUBE already containing Fields- : Delivery no, field_a, field_b, field_c, field_d. Where the 'Delivery no =112333'. This record comes from ODS1.
Now, I want to add data data from ODS2, containg fields -: Delivery no, field_e, field_f, field_g, field_h.
And, what happens to the already existing record in CUBE with 'Delivery no = 11233'. ?
Will the value in this info-object get overwritten ?
OR.. will it combine the data from both the ODS's and show it as ONE record ???
Please advice ... How will I solve this scenario ?

but the best way, according the design standards is creating another DSO on the top of all the DSO's and combine all the data in that DSO and send the data to Infocube. then the data will be shown as below.
Delivery no, field_a, field_b, field_c, field_d, field_e, field_f, field_g, field_h
11233           1           1           1          1            1           1           1          1

Error During Load Infocube from ODS

Hi guys i hae an infocube and an ODS i load data to the ODS directly from SAP and its OK but i have an error when i try to load data from ODS to infocube, i`ve created an update rule from ODS to infocube theres an error in the load request "Load Request is invalid" i try to load to infocube from ODS in many ways Full, Init Delta but i have the same error in all of them.....i need to do something before or i need to change in any way the data targets.....

HI,
Activate the data in ur ODS. Then right click on ur ODS n choose "create export datasource". Now right click ur ODS and go to "Manage" and make sure that the QM status is green and the Datamart status is checked with a green mark. Now carry on the load from ODS to infocube.

Hi All,
I needed some information on the logic when you are loading from an Infocube to the ODS.
I have 2 requests with 100,000 records each in an Infocube.All the keys(dimensions-chars) in the infocube match. The keyfigures in both the requests are different.When i execute Full load to load the ODS i see only 100,000 records loaded into
the ODS and the keyfigures have been aggregated.
Verified the update rules for the keyfigure and the "Update Type" is Overwrite.
Please help me understand if this is the way its supposed to be workign when loading from an infocube to an ODS.

As your saying this is how it works"records are aggregated when data is extracted from cube even before DSO update rules comes into act".
So in this case,i will never be able to overwrite the kefy figures even though i have the update type as "Overwrite".
Ex- I have 2 reqs in the cube
             Mat        Plant       KF1
Req1     1000        07           10
Req2     1000        07             5
Loaded this into the ODS .
Then i have another request in the cube
Req3      1000      07        1
Layter when i load this Req3 into the ODS,how would it show up in.If its aggregated int he cube before its loaded intot he cube,then it will never use the overwrite functionality i ahve selected for the update rules.
Please help me understand.

Update data from ODS to ODS with infopackage selection

I am trying to update data from one ODS to another ODS with selection criteria in InfoPackage which is created manually.For Full load I can give selection criteria in InfoPackage. When I initialize data Selection is greyed out even selections for Full load exists. Please advise me how to give selections for delta loads from ODS to ODS loads.

Once you started an ODS as destination in FULL mode from a DS you cannot get back.
So if you want to update from ODS to ODS using Change Log but considering only some data records you could create an Update Routine with a Start Routine that DELETES undesired records (e.g. DELETE DATA_PACKAGE WHERE ...) and then start an Init-Delta Loading.

Never mind -- I just found it under Tools/Options.../Applications, where I changed the incorrect association of "nlmcp" from Windows Media Player to the correct one, NetLibrary Media Center. Done!

Performance issue with query when generated from an ODS

I am generating a query from an ODS. The run time is very high. How do I improve the performance of the query ?

Steps:
1. Build the Secondary Index.
2. divide the data in to 2 ODS where Historical and Present data ODS's and then build a Multiprovider and build the query on multiprovider.
3. Build the Indexing on the Table level (ODS table level).
We cannot make much faster performance for the ODS's that too with huge data...
The above are very few of them...

Help with loading infocube from flat file

Hi:
I am using SCM 5.1 and the BI 7.0 component that comes with it. I am trying to create an infocube and load it with flat file data but getting errors.
1. First I created the infoobjects and the infocube.
2.a I first tried to create only the data source and activate the datasource. This was not successful.
2.b I then tried to create the application component, infosource etc. (like one does in BW 3.0) but was still not successful.
If you have any pointers, could you please let me know? Thanks.

How to improve query performance of an ODS- with 320 million records

Issue:
The reports are giving time-outs while execution.
Scenario:
We have an ODS having approximately 320 millions of records in it.
The reports are based on
The ODS and
InfoSets based on this ODS.
These reports are giving time-outs while execution.
Few facts about this ODS:
There are around 75 restricted and calculated keyfigures used in the query definition.
We cant replace this ODS by cube as there is requirement of InfoSet on it.
This is in BW 3.5 environment.
Few things we tried:
Secondary Indices are created on the fields which are appearing in the selection screen of the reports. Its not worked.
The Restriction/Calculation logic in the query definition can be moved to backend. Will it make the difference?
Question:
Can you suggest the ways to improve the query performance of this ODS?

I think Oliver's questions are good. 320 Mio records are to much for an ODS. If you can get rid of the InfoSet that would be helpful. Why exactly do you need it? If you don't need you could partition your ODS with a characteristic and report over an MultiProvider.
Is there a way to delete some data from the ODS?
Maybe you make an Upgrade to 7.0 in the next time? There you can use InfoSets on InfoCubes.
You also could try to precalculation like sam say. This is possible with reporting agent or Information Broadcasting. Then you have it in your cache. Look that your cache is large enough. Maybe you can use a table or something.
Do you just need to make one or some special reports on a special time? Maybe you can make an update in another ODS writing just the result in it. For this you can use update rules or maybe analysisprocess designer (transaction RSANWB) is the better way.
Maybe it is also possible to increase the parameter for your dialog-runtime rdisp/max_wprun_time (If you don't know, you basis should. Else look here https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/ab254cf2-0c01-0010-c28d-b26d04627e61)

From Transactional ODS to Cube

How can I load data from a transactional ODS to an InfoCube?(BW 3.1)

I have tried the solution proposed here on SDN when the 8<OSD_NAME> infosource is to be used, but there is no infosource with the such name in my infosource tree(however the data source exists). May be, it is the issue of my BW version (3.1). Has someone implemented that scenario:

You don't need to export Datasource, It's System Generated.
You can also try this.
In order to transfer data from a transactional ODS object into further data targets, first create update rules from ODS object to the datatarget you want to update. During the update rule creation, select the transactional ODS object as the infosource. For the transactional ODS objects "Update Data in Data Targets" option is not available in the context menu of the ODS object, so you have to manually create infopackage to transfer data.
Go to the infosources tab in the administrator workbench and create infopackage for the system generated export datasource (technical name is 8<technical name of the ODS>). Then you can just execute the infopackage to load data into subsequent data targets, but please keep in mind only full upload is possible (no delta upload) with transactional ODS objects.

switch radio button to 'Show generated ODS objects'.
then search for the generated export datasource(8<ods technical name>).

I need to load an InfoCube from an InfoSet - Is this possible in 2004s?

This question looks long, but it's really not. I'm just trying to give a lot of detail about the screens that I am seeing. Anyway, here goes:
I am in 2004s. I want to load an InfoCube from an InfoSet. I know that an InfoSet is just a view and does not physically store data, but recent documentation published by SAP seems to indicate that this is
possible in 2004s (There is a document called "Developer Guide - 2004s" that says the following:
"InfoSets are an additional, easily manageable data source for generic data extraction. They allow you to use logical databases of all SAP applications, table
joins, and further datasets as data sources for BI". )
So... that led me to believe an InfoSet could load an InfoCube. In other words, the InfoSet would be the source and the InfoCube would be the target. I am in RSA1, and I right-click on the cube that I want to be the target. I select the "Create Transformation" option from the context menu. In the "Create Transformation" screen that pops up, I enter "InfoCube" in the target object type field and the name of the InfoCube in the target name field. I enter "InfoSet" in the source object type field and the name of the InfoSet in the source name field.
I get a pop-up that says "Cannot generate proposal". I click the green arrow, and then I get an error message
that says "Transformation does not exist (see long text)".
When I click on the error message, I get the following information in the Performance Assistant:
"Transformation does not exist (see long text)
Message no. RSTRAN010
Diagnosis
The transformation specified by transformation ID , source and target , does not exist.
System Response
The system terminates processing."
Any help would be much appreciated! It seems like it must be possible to use an InfoSet as a source in a data load, or else it would not be an option in the "Create Transformation" screen. ????
I've also tried right-clicking on the cube and selecting "Create Data Transfer Process". I enter the same information on this screen: the types and names of the source and target. Then I get a pop-up that says "Source and target have not been linked with a transformationDo you want to generate a default transformation?". There are two buttons I can click: one labeled "Yes" and one labeled "Abbrechen". I choose "Yes", because I have no idea what "Abbrechen" means.
Then I get the same pop-up from before: "Cannot generate proposal". I hit the green arrow, and I'm back in the
"Create Data Transfer Process" screen. So... I'm stuck in an infinite loop of screens that I can't get out of.

I am wondering if it possible to manually create a node in RSA6 for the InfoSet. I tried it by doing the following:
I went to RSA6 and clicked on the white icon for "Create Node". I then entered the number "8", followed by the name of the InfoSet. (I entered an "8", because all our DataSources seem to start with an "8". I'm not sure why.)
The DataSource now shows up, but when I double-click on it, nothing happens. When I select it in the hierarchy and then click the icons for "Display" or "Change" or "Check", I just get an error message that says, "You have not selected any DataSources."
Also, do you know where I can get my hands on the white paper?

Unable to load data from an ODS to a Cube

Hi all,
I am traying to load data from an ODS to a cube, and I'm getting the following msg at the bottom of the screen monitor: "No corresponding requests were found for request REQU_BZUH9ZPYNL5XLQNB7K8IQDKFS in the ODS/Cube" Message no. RSBM043.
I am unable to load the data. The QM status is yellow. When the process starts, on the left hand of the monitor it shows: "0 of 84408 records" which is ok. I load that with this package before and it works well.
Can you help me what I have to do? I tried to wait but it was the same: no progress and no data in the cube.

When I look at the status, it says that I have a short dump at BW. It was CALL_FUNCTION_REMOTE_ERROR and the short text is "The function module "SUBST_TRANSFER_UPGEVAL" cannot be used for 'remote'". This short dump occurs very much before I shoot the upload.

Can you do the following..
make the Total status Red Delete the request from cube.
goto ODS -> Remove the Data Mart Status -> Try loading it again.
The error message that you get is common when we are trying to run a infopackage with the source object having no new request, (means all the requests available in the source are already moved to the targets). So please try the steps given above.
