Remove passcode lock

How do I remove passcode lock if password is forgotten? Tried to restore but computer says not able to restore.

Try and force iPod into Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

  • Remove passcode lock on broken ipod

Hi, I'm hoping for some help. My daughter threw my ipod touch into the toilet. I dried it out and now after 2 days itunes and my computer recognise it again. However, I cannot switch it on - the screen just stays blank.
I was hoping to at least make sure all the data is backed up on the computer. Itunes tells me that the ipod requires backup files to be encrypted and asks for me to set a password. When I do this it tells me though that I need to enter my passcode first on the ipod. As I can't start the ipod I can't do that so I am stuck.
Is there any way of removing the passcode lock without being able to switch the ipod on? I tried resetting and nothing happens.
    Thanks for any suggestions!

Then you can't backup the iPod. A data recovery cmpany MAY be able to help.

Then restore via iTunes. The iOS device will be erased. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • Remove passcode lock from iPhone

I recently upgraded to a 5s. Set up passcode lock, but now find it is very inconvenient since I take a lot of pictures of my grandchildren. Please tell me how to take this passcode lock off of my new phone. Thank you in advance.

That's what the Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the 5s is for! Why aren't you using it??  It's a bad, bad idea to disable the passcode lock
Settings > Touch ID and passcode > enter passcode > Disable Passcode

  • Problem removing 4 digit passcode lock (IOS 4.2.1)

When i try to turnoff my passcode lock, the phone get stuck at the second pass confirmation page.. Help.

Does it normally took this long to reset?
No, but let it sit like that for a few more minutes. If no change, force the phone into recovery mode:
Turn off your phone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPhone to turn off. If you cannot turn off your phone using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When your phone turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons. Then, leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new. After restoring from backup, you must sync to restore your iTunes content.

  • HT1212 I took the passcode lock off of my iPhone 5 and now I can't get on to my iPad. It is asking for the passcode and when I use the one that was set up it locks me out. How can I get past this?

I have the iPhone 5 and with the new sofware update it added a passcode lock. Same for the iPad. I removed the passcode lock from my iPhone and now I can access my iPad. It is still asking for the four digit passcode. I tried using the one that was orgingally programed and it disables it every time. How can I get past this? I have tried to do a restore and it still takes me back to the lock screen. Please help!

Force iPad into Recovery Mode. Follow step 1 to 6 very closely.

  • Is there a way to "fully" disable, or delete, the passcode lock feature on an iPad?

i am incharge of 50 iPads for ur schol district and have been creating profiles and enabling restrictions on the iPads. today i came across the 'passcode lock' feature, that i am sure all are fimiliar with. if i set that with a code, any student can use that same code to reset the passcode to anythng their little hearts desire. ca this feature be removed from the iPads .. or at least hidden?
    Michael

Sorry but no, there is not, at least none I've heard of. There are several such issues that complicate the use of iPads in classrooms. Most school districts I've read comments from here seem to just have gotten used to the idea that they'll have to reconfigure the iPads from time to time.
    Regards.

You can't "accidentally" put a passcode on any iPhone...its a multi-step process. Further, restoring an iPhone will remove the passcode, as the passcode is not included in an iPhone backup.
Are you sure you're talking about the phone passcode & not something else...like the "Restrictions" passcode?

  • My passcode lock is missing under settings-general tab

Under my settings tab, then general tab I do not have a passcode Lock button? I have installed the 5.1.1 update and it's still not showing up....what do I do....any help is greatly appreciated.

I hate to put the thought in your head, if my guess is not correct, but I'm thinking that you may have gotten a demo somehow.
There is a way that stores can remove the settings from their demo models and it makes sense when you think about it. If the passocde lock setting was in place on store demos models, someone could lock the device with a passocde and the store would have to restore the iPad every night or ten time s day for that matter. The same thing applies to having the reset setting. It could create a mess for the store if these settings were accessible to customers browsing through the store.
Yes - I would certainly take it back, show then the settings and ask them what the heck is going on.

  • Enhancement Request: iOS Ability to "force" passcode lock

Passcode lock is a great feature but with limitations.
"Require Passcode" has the below options:
    Immediately
    After 1 minute
    After 5 minutes
    After 15 minutes
As a user who locks the screen frequently, I do not want to enter in my complex passcode every time I remove my iPhone from my pocket.  With that in mind, I have set the "Require Passcode" to "After 15 minutes".
I would however, for security reasons, like the ability to lock the iPhone and force the "Immediately" option temporarily instead of waiting for the 15 minute interval.
There is currently (to my knowledge) no way to do this and I believe it would be a great feature enhancment to improve the useability of the iPhone.
    Cheers,
    Jason

It wouldn't be difficult at all actually.  It's just software.
The API that is called to initiate the passcode requirement after the timer expires could alternatively be called by some other process.
Press and hold the power button for x amount of time.
    or
Press and hold the power button and provide an additional "slide to secure lock" option under the current "slide to power off".
    The options are endless

  • Apple configurator does NOT remove passcode

Apple configurator is not removing the passcode when the ipad is plugged back into the cart. I have spent days looking for a solution but can not find one, every article i read says that apple configurator removes passcode's once the ipad is plugged back in. We are not setting passcode on the ipad because it is not assisgned to a specific student. here is the setup i am doing with configurator.
1 - setup 2 policy in configurator (1 fo wireless connection, 2 - for setting restrictions)
2 - plug in 1 ipad and supervise it
3 - set up supervised ipad the way we want and created backup (did this with the ipad still plugged into cart and unpluged from cart)
4 - plug in second ipad, set prepare ti restore from ipad one backup
5 - second ipad added to configurator with no issues.
6 - unplug second ipad from cart, set password and wait for it to lock
7 - plug back into cart.
configurator will see the ipad then it just sits there says waiting for device to be ready
it will not remove the passcode, if i then type in the passcode configurator will then upadte device.
Any one have any idea's. This has happened to 2 different carts.I have even re-installed the laptop from scratch and still the same issue.

Hi MStorm (and others having the same issue)
There is a way to clear the passcode from an iPad that only take about 10 seconds but it is a bit of a mess.  If you plug the iPad into the computer with configurator and press REFRESH (don't panic - we are not going to fully Refresh it) the passcode is removed in about 3-5 seconds.  Try turning it on and see if it works.  Once it is unlocked, unplug it and stop the refresh.
I know it is a bit ugly but it does work and does not take a long time.

  • Iphone passcode locked.. pls help :(

i use an iphone 2g... i changed my passcode number today and when i tried to unlock it for the forst time after changing it the phone said wrong passcode i re-entered it and the phone is now locked.. it extended the time from 5 to 10 to 15 mins.. and now its 1 hour... i tried another one of my old passcodes and now it says try again in a hour..
Im horrified.. is there a way i can reset or put the phone back to normal coz im at work and i cant take any calls... pls help me.. thnks

    Here's the article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
...If you repeatedly enter the wrong passcode, iPhone or iPod touch will be disabled for longer intervals, before you can try again. After too many unsuccessful attempts, you won't be able to try again until you connect to the computer you normally sync with. Note that starting with iPhone 2.1 software, there is a setting to cause the device to erase itself after 10 consecutive incorrect password attempts. This setting is off by default. It can be turned on by tapping Settings > General > Passcode Lock after you enter a correct passcode.
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device on the computer that was used to originally sync the iPhone or iPod touch so that you can reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced to the iPhone or iPod touch, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode but your data will not be present. Refer to "Updating and restoring iPhone and iPod touch software."
