Remove Registration Information as part of Restore Process

The HP registration remains after a full operating system recovery from the restore partition.  How can this personal information be removed?  The computer is to be donated to charity.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • Remove registration information MacOs Tiger

    Hi there,
perhaps this shouldn't be the place to ask for this, but I
think it's incredible that telephonic support from Adobe Spain is
not giving me answers for this problem.
I've registered a Flex Builder 3 Trial using a bought Flex
Builder 3 Standard license, but it was an error, because we've also
bought a Flex Builder 3 Profiessional license that was the one to
    be used.
The problem, now I can't change from the standard to the
professional version, because we've not bought an update from
standard to pro, but 2 updates from Flex 2 to flex 3 (one to
standard, by error, and one to pro, the one we want).
Uninstalling Flex Builder is not enought, because when we
install it again, it keeps the registration info from the Flex
Builder 3 standard. Anyone knows how to remove this registration
info, to license Flex Builder with the Professional license????
    Thanks in advance ,
    Marc

Thanks.  I thought of that.  But won't I get whammied for registration again?  I just registered this at adobe last month after rebuilding a crashed system.  In other words, will Adobe know that I've uninstalled it, and therefore have an available license?  Thanks for the welcome.  I've been a Studio premium user for 3 years, and now that my product is no longer supported....I need support!
    Thanks.

  • Lost Elements 9 registration information after computer fail.

About a month ago my computer completely failed and I had to install a new hard drive, processor & OS. I had to download the trial version as I've been looking for the registration information without any luck. Is there a way for Adobe to look up the information to get me the serial number? I sent in an email about 2 weeks ago but have not gotten a response yet. I never use my real name for just about any registration, but I use the same email each time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    >they have provided horrible service
You lost the information and you don't have a record of registering (like a paper file folder with a screenprint)... and now it is Adobe's fault?
Hardware crashes or virus infections happen, so you should buy AND USE software to make a full backup of your hard drive to an external USB hard drive... plus, making step-by-step backups during a new install or major program addition makes it easy to go back a step if something doesn't work
This backup and then restore is, of course, only to the same computer with a new drive (or the same drive as long as you don't mind writing over everything) since doing a restore to a new computer won't work due to Windows and many programs having activation information that is keyed to your hardware (which is why Windows will force you to RE-Activate if you change very much hardware)
The product I use is at http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/image-for-linux.htm
Image runs off of a bootable CD via Linux (the Zip you download includes a program to make the bootable CD) and it reads EVERYTHING on the drive, even the hidden registration information, so everything is restored when needed... and you may restore the image to a brand new drive in case of a crash, and not have to re-install anything
Please note that I own no part of Image, and I don't get a referral fee (that is just a plain web link) but I use the program and it has saved me a LOT of trouble when I had a hard drive die... and I was able to restore everything and not have to re-install or re-activate a single program, from Windows on up

  • I have applied the icloud on my sisters id accidently. How can I no w remove this information and set up my own Icloud on another computer with out loosing either of our information from the phone

I have applied the icloud on my sisters id accidently. How can I no w remove this information and set up my own Icloud on another computer with out loosing either of our information from the phone.

Please read before going through with this procedure.
If you really want your contact back and you did not do another iCloud backap since you deleted some of your contacts, you can do a hard reboot on both devices with iClouded contacts by holding down the home and lock buttons on each of them for 10 seconds ignoring the slide to turn off thing. Make sure you have iCloud contact services off before doing so. You can then go through the whole set up process until you get up to the backup part. You then press to restore from an iCloud backup (make sure you choose the right backup for the right phone). If you didn't make an iCloud backup before the contact incident, you will have to use your two-month-old iTunes backups. Each phone should have their contacts the way they were from your last backup. You then go into Settings>iCloud>and turn off contacts. You then can choose if you want to keep your current contacts or not. Turn this off on both phones just incase you add another iCloud device to the mix later on. Now your contact lists are no longer linked (Caution: side effect may include lack of edit button). You may now add and delete contacts as you please without it happening on your other phone.
    Thank you for choosing Apple.

  • System image restore process failed - WSE2012

I need some help. My system drive failed and I'm forced to attempt a recovery using the server backup located on my backup volume. Using a bootable USB stick, I successfully boot in to the installation media, navigate to the repair screen, and select System
Restore. The software attempts to find a suitable backup, which it does and recommends the backup dated 2/5/2013 (about a week ago). I click NEXT, select the EXCLUDE drives to exclude those drives that are part of my storage pool (I've also not selected anything
    to exclude. Here's my selection:
    Disk 4 - USB STICK w/Install Media
Disk 5 - NEW REPLACEMENT DRIVE (fresh)
    Disk 6 - Storage Space
    Disk 7 - Storage Space
It reports that Disk 3 is automatically excluded because it contains the backup. So far all this seems in order.
I proceed to click NEXT to get to the final recovery options page. In addition to the server name and date of the backup, I'm presented with the following:
    \\?\Volume{824f6b2f-3b3a-11e2-93ed-806e6f6e6963}, C:
Upon clicking FINISH and receiving the warning that all drives will be reformatted and partitioned, I'm presented with a dialog box in about 5 seconds that states the following:
    The system image restore failed
An error occurred while performing the recovery operation. Details (link)
Clicking the link presents me with another dialog box that shows various options for ensuring the drive is connected (which it is, Disk 5) and it asks that all USB drives are removed. However, if you remove the installation media, you can't continue anyway.
    Here are my questions:
What on in the name of Microsoft is going on here -- has anyone run into this problem before? According to the instructions, this should be super easy. I've reviewed the following: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj593197.aspx
Should I disconnect the Storage Space drives all together, leaving the new system drive, the backup drive and the USB stick and try again?
Should I install a new copy of Windows Server (with storage drives unplugged) and then attempt to restore.
If the backup was corrupt, wouldn't I get a different error message?
What other options can I try?
I've already made a simple volume on the NEW drive as I read elsewhere that solved someone with a Windows 7 recovery that sounded the same. This did not work for me. I've tried to remove the USB drive, and then process complains and says it can't find the
    path to the install media.
My server is headless and DVD-less, so USB is the only way I'm going to get this to install. I've also already tried moving my USB stick into just about every USB port available.
Finally, this is a Gigabyte  UEFI motherboard.
Someone smarter than me please step up and show me the light! I can't believe the restore process is failing like this.

A brief update since my last post. I've left all the drives plugged in and decided to replace the bootable USB stick method with the tried-and-true external USB DVD drive. Upon boot, I again attempted the recovery option outlined before. However, this time,
    I receive the following message:
Windows cannot restore a system image to a computer that has a different firmware. The system image was created on a computer using BIOS and this computer is using EFI.
I don't believe this is true, but to test the error, I proceeded to configure my BIOS for legacy BIOS support and turned OFF all UEFI support. I again booted to the system and proceeded to attempt the recovery option outlined before. This time, it appeared
to start working, but then resulted in the same exact error message I reported previously just a short 30 seconds later. I attribute this problem to the slower speed of the USB DVD drive.
I reconfigured my system again for UEFI and installed a fresh copy of the WSE2012. This seemed to go without any trouble. Once in the new instance of WSE2012, I attempted to recover from the original backup. At this time, I can only attempt to replace folders
and files and not the entire drive. Needless to say, the process did not complete correctly and I have a half baked of new and my original drive, complete with Dashboard plugins that don't work. The next thing I'm going to try is to install fresh again and
from within WSE2012 attempt to restore from the image again. However, I doubtful that the result will be positive. Stay tuned, more to come.

I am in the noerthern [parts of australia and accessing an apple store is not possiable for another month. this is my only soucrce or telecommunication. please help

This is what it says about error 2006
    Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software. If the errors persist on another computer and known-good USB cable, the device may need service.

  • Re-installing for a User whose Registration Information is Unknown

I've just sold my ibook G4 on ebay. I want to erase and install for the new user, whose personal information and desired "short name" is unknown to me.
How do I erase and install and bypass the set-up assistant (which includes a mandatory registration information) that appears before the installation process?
Thanks for any light shed on this question!

    Joelius:
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Here are a couple of procedures posted by Kappy that should accomplish what you want done:
This is the simple method and doesn't involve erasing the hard drive.
Boot from your OS X Installer. After the installer loads select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (or Utilities menu if using Tiger.) After DU loads select your OS X volume from the list on the left, click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (3.0.3 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.1.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Next, boot to single user mode. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-S keys until the computer starts up to a black screen with white type.
    3. At the prompt, type the following commands, each command followed by the Return key:
    /sbin/fsck -yf
    mount -uw /
    rm /private/var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    shutdown -r now
The second-to-last command above will cause OS X to think that the operating system is newly installed, and when you reboot, it will send you through the Startup Wizard.
    This is the long method:
Follow these instructions step by step to prepare a Mac for sale:
    First, back up the data:
    1) Shut down all Virtual PCs. They cannot be in their "fast saved" state. They must be shut down from inside Windows.
    2) Clone to an external drive using Carbon Copy Cloner.
Next, prepare the machine for the new buyer:
    3) Deauthorize the computer in iTunes! Deauthorize both iTunes and Audible accounts.
    4) Remove Open Firmware passwords
    5) Turn the brightness full up and volume nearly so.
    Install a fresh OS:
    6) Insert the OS X install CD/DVD.
    7) Restart the computer while holding down the C key to boot from the CD/DVD.
    8) Run Disk Utility from the file menu and erase the internal hard drive (optionally zero all data).
    9) Install OS X.
    10) Reboot the computer.
    11) From the welcome screen, you can skip the registration step by typing command-Q.
    12) When prompted, create an account (it will be an admin account).
    13) From your new admin account, configure networking.
    14) Then use Software Update to bring your system and all of it's applications up to date.
    15) From Disk Utility, repair permissions on the new volume.
Now delete the account you just created:
    16) Boot from a different volume (e.g. a firewire drive, if available)
    17) Clean up the image using the following terminal commands:
    prompt> rm /Volumes/<imagevol>/var/db/BootCache.playlist
    prompt> rm /Volumes/<imagevol>/var/db/volinfo.database
    prompt> rm -r /Volumes/<imagevol>/var/vm/swap*
    18) Now you can get rid of the admin account you used to set up the machine Use the terminal:
    prompt> nicl -raw /Volumes/<imagevol>/var/db/netinfo/local.nidb -delete /users/<admin>
    prompt> rm -r /Volumes/<imagevol>/Users/<admin>
    prompt> rm /Volumes/<imagevol>/var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    19) Shut down and ship it to your buyer. When they get it, it will boot to the Welcome screen just like a factory Mac, except that it's better because it's completely up to date.
    With acknowledgements to Kappy
    Good luck.

  • Ipod 5 wasn't updating new playlists.  Removed all music from iPod and ended up with 34 GB of OTHER.  How do I remove this without doing a full restore?

iPod 5 was not adding new playlists when synching (plenty of space remained in memory for it).  This happened around the time of the new update.  I removed all music from the iPod and when I went to resync the selected playlists, my OTHER portion of memory jumped up to 34GB and now there is not enough space on the iPod to put all my music back on.
I've checked the usage of all the apps and photos, etc, it is pretty clear this is because of the music portion only.
Is there anyway of removing this information?  Without doing a restore?  It is not jailbroken either.

An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.

What is "Other" and What Can I Do About It?
Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

  • [solved] Back In Time restoration process

    Hello,
I have a basic question related to Back In Time backup program and the procedure of the restoration process. As far as I understood, Back In Time allows me to create a one-click snapshot of my entire root system (I only need / and not /home) which can then be restored to give me an exact replicate of the system at a given point in time.
So, let's say I save this snapshot on my external hard disk and my system crashes then, i.e. it no longer boots. Thus I cannot launch Back In Time to restore the snapshot.
How would I proceed in this case?
Is it possible to boot from a live disk, install Back In Time and then launching Back In Time in the live environment to restore my system with one click?

I am trying to send photos to the cloud from my phone to my iPad but they are not appearing in the stream. I have read the instructions and I think I am doing it right or am I missing a part of the process?

    HI,
Have you done this before ? And if so, is photo stream turned on on your iphone and ipad. and as Alfred DeRose pointed out they must both on the same icloud account.
If you're new to this, you might want to do some research. Photo stream is different from camera roll and albums. Many have been on this sight looking for their photos stored in icloud after restore, etc. and they're not there. Also, after thirty days icloud deletes your photos from photo stream.
So if you're not aware, you might want to google your question. We're using the camera connection kit soon and I am learning about it. From all I've read, I'm also not the biggest icloud fan. I use dropbox. We plan to put photos taken on ipad with a camera/iphones into albums on the ipad. We'll keep all on the sd card until (and after) they can be uploaded to a computer.
An example of an article we can learn from -

    Hope this helps.

  • File sizes explodes after removing hidden information

After removing hidden content in Acrobat Pro X (Tools/remove hidden content or Tools/sanitize) the file size increases, up to 10x (2 MB -> 20 MB). Save as optimized PDF only partly reduces the problem, file is still 3-4x the initial size. Document was created with Adobe PDF writer, but this problem occurs in principle also with other PDFs. Bug? Necessary? Workaround? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Any one found a solution to this problem?
I'm having it too, acrobat xi pro 11.0.10...
Original file size before cropping ~27MB
Same file saved as optimized PDF before cropping ~12MB
Original file size after cropping ~27MB
Same file saved as optimized PDF after cropping ~12MB
Original file saved as some other file name after removing hidden information ~60MB
Same file saved as optimized PDF after cropping AND after removing hidden information ~60MB

  • Remove UWL information areas under preview

    Hi UWL Experts
I need to remove some of the information which is shown when a preview of a workflow item is displayed like “Attachments” and “You can also – links”.
This part is easily fulfilled by use of the ivew parameters; but is this possible to customize on work item level instead? Because I only need to remove these information from some of the items and not all?
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers

    Hi Kai
Thanks for the input, we have some tasks form the backend which is actually does not contain attachments but are displayed in the portal as attachments.
I have looked into the standard uwl.webflow configuration and found an item called “uwl.task.webflow” is guess that this is the one which the rest of my tasks receive the standard configuration from; if I want to create a new set of settings for some specific tasks then I need to copy this ad add a new prefix like “costumized.webflow” and add this prefix to the specific task that I want to change?
From this configuration I can see that it is possible to remove links from the “you can also” section, but is it also possible to remove informations from the details display of items as well (in the same way as it can be controlled globally from iview parameters)?
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers

  • My computer was used by someone else how can i remove their information for mine

my computer was my wifes old one and her iphone information is on here so i cant connect mine how would i remove her information so i can start clean with my own

The right way to do that is to copy your iTunes Library - the one that you used to sync your iPhone - to your wife's old computer.
The way it works is that your computer's content is transferred to the iPhone. So you need to start with a computer that already contains the information that you want to transfer to the iPhone. Or, simply restore the iPhone and configure it as a new device.

  • Remove hidden information without converting to RGB

I'm preparing a PDF for one-color printing, and it has some color data off the page that's messing up our prepress process. So I ran "remove hidden information" to cut that data out, but it converted the entire file from CMYK to RGB. I obviously need the file to stay CMYK (getting it down to just K was the whole point). Is there any way to remove cropped/overlapping data without converting to RGB?

You might try running the Preflight single fixup under Pages to "Remove page objects which are completely outside of page area" instead.

  • "Remove Hidden Information" not functioning properly after crop

    Hello all,
I often print multi-page MS Visio documents to PDF, then edit them in Acrobat Pro XI.  I have found that since the most recent update of Acrobat Pro XI, when I crop a page, then select "remove hidden information," it only removes text information, and not all the information that is cropped.  For example, if I have a box filled with text that is partially cropped, and I select "remove hidden information," the portion of the text that is cropped is removed, but the entire graphical portion of the box remains and can be seen if the file is "uncropped."  Is there a solution for this problem?  It seems like it should be easy to remove all the previously-visible data that has been cropped, and in the past, I have been able to do so, but I can't seem to any longer.
    Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't expect it to remove part of a graphic in general. I haven't compared results.
