Hi, are there are any repair stores in North Houston for iPods? I've looked at Dr.CellPhone, but I'm not sure how reliable the reviews are. I've also been told about looking at iResQ.com. Are there are any other sites or local businesses that I should investigate? I only need to fix my sleep/wake button.

Same problem after 4yrs Sony drive did not read new Donald Fagen MVI disc or any DVD disc. Other World Computing has a new Pioneer superdrive out the door at 42$ with two day air. It took 20 min to install and runs great.

  • 11" MBA cracked display repair options in Houston, TX?

    (2) small spiderweb cracks appeared yesterday in lower left quadrant of my MBA that I received as gift last Jan/Feb. MBA was fine before I left to grab lunch. 30 mins later there they popped up.  Strange... it resides 99% of time on top of my desk, nothing sits on it.  Apple Store rep Justin says those cracks are user caused 100%, no other reason, not even mfg or design defect, because those have points of impact. Says maybe I either set something on top of the lid (but he backed off because he didn't see or feel any dent on it) or I had tried to close the lid while something was sitting on the keyboard thus causing the 2 points of impact.
    I mentioned the loads of user complaints in Apple forums about MBA cracked screens and was dismissed. I was too frustrated to even want to talk to his senior rep.  Repair quote as of 1/16/13 for one 11" display $340 + labor $40.  I am still deciding if I need it repaired so soon or can I wait longer.

    Any other repair option in Houston, TX that can replace my display for cheaper?

  • Complaint for the contractor repair store and appler customers service

    Case description: I can't start my iphone last week. So I made a phone call from the APPLE(**********)in China to get a chace to check what happened.
    And after the customer service check, they suggest me to go to the contractor store to repair which located in PUDONG, Shanghai as there is full of request for the apple store. I accept that and went to the contractor. The contractor say there is hardware issue and you should pay round RMB 2,000 to change a new one.
    They don't accept the credit card and they only accept cash. I went back home as I haven't got enough cash on hand.
    The second day, I apply for the request on website and fortunately I got the chance to get the apply store to check.
    And I went to there, the apple guy from the genious bar check and say it's the software issue and can be fixed right now.
    Now I could get into using the iphone 5. I take some phone calls to tell the Apple what had happened for myself,but they feedback me they can't tell you what's their action plan and when they could give me the answer about that. So poor answer!!! I have been worked for International company for more than ten years, this is the first time I heard from that the tough and poor answer. So I decide to tell everyone to note that.
    You can't believe the apple contractor repair store and it's a bull **** answer from the apple customers service in China!
    I want to complaint
    1. The different feedback from the Appler store and Contractor Store when I took the same issue iphone 5 to them.
    2. The customer service is very tough and they can't listen to the consumer complaint from heart. It seems they will not deal with the problem but aviod to that.
    (Please note I made this phone call at 14:04 China time in Shanghai.)
    I suggest that:
    1. RE- Evaluation the certification of the contrator at TAO LIN Road, Pu Dong Shanghai
    2. RE-Check each case this contrator deal with
    3. Make sure the custom service would be apologize to me
    4. Pay for the extra time and cost(1 Dollar) to me
    (I have iphone 4S, iphone 5, ipad 2, ipad mini) Could I become the VIP guy? LOL!
    5. The most important thing is that they should optimize the service procedure RIGHT NOW!
    It's the real case happen from myself, please forward the information to the Apple top management officer if anyone from Apple.
    I love Apple production,but too sad to have a bad experience for that. I'll consider about SAMSUMG if APPLE don't make any change.

  • Eseutil failing to repair store.

    Hey all, after a sleepless night I could really do with some help.
    I have a 2003 exchange server where the raid controller for the array that the exchange database lives on momentarily failed (I subsequently
    got the array to read again). After rescuing the edb file and copying it to another drive using the same folder structure as initially, I attempted to mount the database it found that it fails with errors that the .edb is corrupt.
    Needing to rescue this database I ran exeutil /r on the necessary files on a faster machine (the exchange server was going
    to take 8 hours), this one happened to be 64 bit. Sadly this terminated at 99% saying that “jcb.dll” or one of it’s dependencies is missing and to copy the file over and click OK to try again.
    I searched the forums and general internets and found the many articles dictating which files it needed. I then copied them to c:/Program
    Files/exchsrvr/bin, and the directory I was running the repair from, and added the new exchsrvr path to the system variables for good measure.
    Nothing I did seemed to work, so I began to worry that as it was a dll error and the computer I was running this on now was 64bit that either
    that was the issue, or that not having the files had corrupted my file mid repair.
    I took 2 more fresh copies of the database, logs and stm file and put one lot of them on an Exchange 2010 box to try the repair from there.
    First I ran eseutil /mh to check the database condition and indeed found that it reported a Dirty shutdown state requires about 15 log files to be played into the store. I then ran eseutil /ml and it returned that the log files are there and are in good health.
    Good so far.
    I then ran eseutil /r and replayed the logs into the database, this completed successfully – yay me!
    Checking the shutdown state again, it still reports “dirty shutdown”. /sigh
    I then ran eseutil /p on the database and it ran along fine, but then fails reporting an error that “jcb.dll” is missing and to copy the
    file over and click OK to try… again.
    We’ve done this before… I copy the file (as well as ese.dll, exchmem.dll and exosal.dll) and click OK, but it does not continue, just returns
    the same error and it does not clear. In order to get out of the loop I have to close the command prompt. Result – still a dirty shutdown. 
    Where I am left is that I have the slow 2003 box running /r now (85%), but as for the 2010 attempt I can’t run eseutil /d against it due to the shutdown state nor can I run it with the /g switch to check consistency. 
    Internets, how can I get this database to mount?
    Normally I would restore from a backup but Murphy has stepped up and decided that my backups to capture Exchange data for the last few weeks
    fail quietly due to a remote agent error with Backup Exec. So … no good backup to restore from. 
    I need to rescue this database, even with some data loss it would be better than restoring from a very old, questionable backup.
    Suggestions?

    So first, lets keep /r (recovery) and /p (repair or as I like to call it "salvage") separate.  In one of the latter paragraphs you say /r now 85%, but usually recovery is pretty quick, so maybe that's /p?  Or perhaps you do incremental backups
    (and as you said, haven't done backup in a while), and you're doing A LOT of logs to replay (that is possible unnecessary if you've lost or clobbered your checkpoint file).
    The recovery/r that "completed successfully" (but with a dirty DB), did you maybe run with /i?  If you have a single DB attached / mounted to a single log stream (i.e. NO OTHER DBs attached / mounted to that log stream), then you should never run /r(ecovery)
    with the /i, as it will only lead to tears.  If you have multiple DBs attached to a log stream, then the /i option can be necessary at times (Exchange 2007 never has this case, but 2003 did allow multiple DBs to be attached).
    Further warning: Once you run /r xxx /i and get success (BUT did not really get success b/c the file is still dirty), you should consider the log files "ruined", and recopy the original log files, because when /r finishes successfully it updates the log
    files, and those last updates, will probably make re-tries with different /r options behave different than if you had the original log files in place (so probably best to make a 3rd copy of the log files you will be using for recovery).  You
    hopefully can understand how this can cause massive confusion as the operations might behave different.
    eseutil /r is very sensitive to paths, and some of the paths it uses are stored in the trx log files.  So even if you copy the DB + log files to another box, if the DB isn't at the same path and same drive letter, /r can not find the DB.  Esp.
    when using /i, which allows /r to skip DBs not at the path /r-ecovery expects them to be at (probably what happened to you above).  Consider using the /d option on /r(ecovery) if it exists in Ex2k3 when trying to recovery the DB on other drives or
    paths.
    Here is my typical approach (to recovery a clean DB on a different machine at a different path):
    Make sure the server is offline or the DB is dismounted to avoid any interference while you xcopy in steps 2 and 3.
    xcopy priv01.edb (the DB) to the new path
    xcopy e01*.log (the logs) to the _same_ new path as the DB.
    Optionally trim the unneeded log files from the new path (or at step 3 copy only the needed log files) ... the needed log files are the ones from eseutil /mh priv01.edb see the MinRequired log generation, to the Max Committed (in Ex2k7+) or Max Required
    (in Ex2k3), and anything above or below these numbers is not needed ... though you should seriously consider keeping the larger log generation files over the max as that just saves more data.
    cd into the new path
    Run: "eseutil /r e01 /d."  Yes that's a dot at the end.
    This is predicated on eseutil.exe having the /d option, which I really don't know about for Ex2k3.  The /d option says to eseutil even when you're running /r and you find a path to the DB listed in the trx log files, please try to find the DB file at
    this alternate path instead.  The dot for "/d.", says that this alternate path to look in should be the current working directory which you cd'd into in step 5. ;-)
    At that point you should have a clean DB to get your DB recovered.
    Alternatively if you have to run /p(repair) then you could just copy the DB to another drive on the box, and run /g directly on the box you have Exchange installed on right?  Then it should surely work.

    I clicked on store,  adobe store, the page is whie and NOT LOADING. It's staying like. I do have the column on the right with cart, purchase buy phone, etc
    but the middle where I need to download, is white.
    Also, I am gettind desactivation not successful , error code 255;255 what's that? I did my desactivation before and separate from "downloading"
    Desactivate is now gray and the bad PS is still "working"

    Is the email you use here on the forums the same one as your Adobe ID you used for preordering Creative Cloud?
    Once your membership starts you basically just log into the Creative Cloud website with your Adobe ID and download and install the software using a program called the Adobe Application Manager. Creative Cloud Membership doesn't use serial numbers for the products. The programs are licensed by signing into them with your Adobe ID.

Then a virus message pops up and asks me if I would like to buy some antivirus software and then a error report shows up and it ask me if I would like to send the error report out and then it gives me the option if I do not want to send it out.

    That pop-up asking you to buy an anti-virus product (and some telling you that you are infected) is probably a virus.

  • Hi, My 4th Gen touch won't upload music from itunes library. It says they have been transfered on itunes but there is no content? Had to go to Authorised Apple repair store to reinstal OS after it had frozen..now this!

    I seem to have had the same problem as several people after the recent iOS update. My iPod touch said it needed to update..and then when that hung for about 6 hours, it wanted to restore repeatedly. Had to take it to have the iOS installed  (x2) at an approved service centre (worked fine on their Mac). Now when connected to iTunes, iTunes says it's transfered music files across, but they're empty folders or corrupted. The tracks play fine on my PC, so I assume that the files are okay. Any suggestions why my touch doesn't want to download from iTunes?

    Plug the iPod into the computer. This solves all three.

  • Apple store will not repair my iMac!!!

    I have just returned from the Apple Store Southampton with my faulty 24-inch iMac Intel(MA456LL) (Late 2006) who have informed me that I need a new video card but unfortunately because the computer is over 6 years old it is now classed as VINTAGE (what a joke!) that they no longer manufacture or supply parts and refuse to service this particular model. Apple ran their diagnostic tool and everything else was OK. I paid nearly £2000 when I purchased the iMac back in 2006 so I am very reluctant to dispose of this computer, but I am unable to source a replacement video card as it is discontinued. I am quite disgusted by Apple, who by no longer producing the video card have now rendered my iMac completely useless. I only used the iMac for surfing the internet and watching TV, so classed myself a light user, surely a £2000 computer should last longer than 6 years?!! Does anyone have any suggestions on perhaps where I could locate an nVidea GeForce 7600GT 256MB video card on anyone who could fix my iMac? I have trawled the internet trying to locate one but to no avail.
    I have taken my iMac to a local independent computer repair store and explained my predicament but they want £80 to dismantle and diagnose the fault (which Apple have already confirmed) and then should they not be able to locate an original replacement video card use an alternative (assuming they can find one that fits) but they cannot guarantee for sure, so I could end shelling out more money for nothing. If anyone who works for Apple is reading this then perhaps you can give me a sensible suggestion of what else I can do to resolve the problem. Thanks.

When applied to Apple Retail Stores and these operating regions, products on the U.S. Vintage list (all models) are considered obsolete.
    The necessary parts can be very hard to find.

  • Signs of HDD trouble? (Need to repair disk periodically on MacBook Pro 8,2)

    SUMMARY / TL;DR: Twice in the past year, Disk Utility has been unable to repair the HDD. Should I replace it
    I have a MacBook Pro 8,2 (OSX  10.9.5) with 16GB RAM (Crucial) and the original 750GB HDD. I run Disk Utility and/or Onyx about once every month or two to repair permissions and do maintenance. I do so because the computer seems to get  slow sometimes. (ie slow to bring up thumbnails in Adobe Bridge or slow on startup whereby after login, it is a few minutes before I can pull up the Dock). About two or three times a year I get a 'disk needs repair' error. Twice in the last year, disk utility has been unable to repair it and I have erased the drive. Once I did a fresh install, once a Time Machine restore. Apple Hardware test returns no problems on regular and extended tests. DiskTools Pro shows no issues.
    This machine does a lot of what I consider heavy work. I've used it for a number of Maya and After Effects projects. Most of the time I am working in Photoshop on a Cintiq.
    Are these 'disk needs repair' signs of a HDD that needs to be replaced?
    I live about 2 hours from the nearest Apple store in Houston and my AppleCare expired in October. If I make the trip to take it in, I feel like there not going to find anything.
    Any tips or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  • Nokia 1020 repairs? Quality of device?

    I have had a Nokia 1020 for less than a week, and already the chassis is scuffed from being in my pocket (on its own) and I just dropped it out of my hand on to my desk (a fall of approx. 20cm) and the glass in the corner of the screen is chipped.
    If my rubber case had arrived yet this probably wouldn't have happened which I am annoyed about, but serious a phone should be able to withstand THAT without damage.
    Is there anything I can do?
    I'd have thought being in Finland would give me good customer service, but their phone number basically says "go to the website" and online chat support says it is open between 9.00 and 17.00 (it is 14.28 right now), except public holidays (which it isn't today) ... and it is closed.

    You are so right. Put the best smartphone camera on earth in a device that is fragile. I was on one knee doing yard you, mine fell about 1.5 ft and glass cracked. I have Assure Service contract. Store offered me $340 credit so I pay $245 to move up to a 1520, 1020 no longer available AND pay $49 deductible. I decided to just go out and find the best repair shop I can, repair the GORILLA glass and get and extremely protective case. Anybody know of a good repair shop in Houston? Oh, BTW, MS store tech said Nokia glass is trickier than most to repair. That's just great. Weak AND hard to fix, good combo. At least I'll get to keep the banging 41 MP camera.

  • HELP - Apple Store mishandling of my computer

    I left my Powerbook 17 to an Apple Store last week, to have the hard drive changed. They have damaged the casing of the computer while it was in their care. The casing is bend in two places and start to split. I contacted the Apple Store. They don't want to acknowledge that! The repair that was supposed to be 325 USD + tax, is now over 900 USD. I have a copy of the repair form that doesn't refer to any damage. I feel completely let down by this Apple Store.
    Any idea on who to contact to get this resolved ?

    Thanks for your response. I did talk to them, He was denying that a problem could have happened at his store (North Fork in GA). Basically saying that if someone of his team damage a computer they always report it.... and that they will never fired anyway someone mishandling a computer....I don't think I could have find a positive outcome with him. I send an extensive email documenting my misfortune to him (i am still waiting for an answer). I am 100% sure someone did something to the computer at the store.
    I finally found resolution, contacting the person that was suppose to repair my computer, that was send originally by the store, to the repair Center in Texas. That person listened and is taking care of the matter the right way. So I am getting a positive outcome, but after hours spend on the phone and sending emails...
