Repeat depreciation, after changes in depreciation key

Hi Everybody,
Could you please explain the problem - The depreciation was posted till to 5th period. Now I want to change depreciation percentage for one asset from begining of the 1st period, now we are in 6 th period.  It is possible to do depreciation run
for one asset from 1st to 5th period?
Thanks for watching Forum.

You change the depreciation rate for the asset.
Then in the depreciation run put only that asset for which you have changed the depreciation rate, then make a test run to see if you are getting the desired results.
Then you can make the depreciation production run. But in case of production run depreciation will run for all the periods. You cannot run only for that particular asset in production run.
You can make a repeat run for all the assets as you have the comfort that you have verified the depreciation calculated during the test run.

  • Incorrect Planned Depreciation after posting unplanned depreciation

    Hello Everyone,
We have encountered a case whereas an asset acquired in April 2008 with 5 years useful life was planned to be fully depreciated in period 2 of 2009. Below are the details and postings done:
    1 - NBV -> 1,056,143.00
    2 - Posted Write-up -> 18,054.00
3 - Posted Unplanned depreciation -> 1,038,992.23- (the system actually issued that only the amount of 835,445 can be posted as unplanned dep. In order to bypass this, user changed the dep key to MANU then changing it back after the unplanned posting)
    4 - Posted Ordinary Dep for Period 1 of 2009 -> 19,892
    5 - Planned Ordinary Dep for Period 2 of 2009 -> 15,312.77-
Once the amount of 15,312.77 is posted, the asset will have Zero NBV.
*My question is: Why did the system posted the 15,312.77 in period 2 only and not spread the amount until 2013 since the asset's useful life is for 5 years (until 2013).
We have tried recalculation of values and the planned depreciation remains the same for period 2.
    Hope someone can help.
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards,
    Cholo

    Hello Vinod,
Period control is 004 which is configured in AFAMP having 01 - Pro rata at period start date for Acquisition, Acquisition in the following year, Retirement and trasfer. Does it have anything to do with the start of depreciation?
Also, when we adjust the ord dep start date to < April 26, the original planned depreciation is not affected for the current FY but only the next FY and moving forward.
    For example:
Asset worth 12,000 to be depreciated in 10 years
1 - Alrready in period 3 and 200 has been posted
    2 - Posted unplanned dep of 800
3 - Total planned dep for this year did not change (1,200)
    4 - System calculated for current year depreciation 1200 (planned) + 800 (unplanned) = 2000
    5 - And for the next years 12,000 - 2,000 = 10,000 / 9 years
    Should it not be that that 12,000 - 1,000 (200 planned + 800 unplanned) = 11,000 / 9 years and 9 months?
It seems that the unplanned depreciation affected the depreciation computation of the asset only in the next FY.

  • After changing spaces, most keys stop registering

I have a 5 year old Mac Pro running OS 10.6.8. I have spaces configured with four spaces, and the keyboard command to switch between spaces set as Ctrl-arrow. Most of the time this works as expected. However I've been having a periodic issue where, about once a week or so, I'll change spaces (Ctrl-arrow) and after it switches the new space, the four-panel HUD window that shows what space I'm on won't go away. Moreover, most characters I type on the keyboard will no longer register with the OS. Specifically, I if I type any letter, numbers, or other character, it won't register with any applications. I can however still type the keys Ctrl, Opt, Cmd, and the arrow keys. For example, when my computer is in this state, I can still type Ctrl-arrow and move to different spaces (with the HUD window staying up the entire time). But if I type any other keys, they never register. I.e. typing letters won't show up in a word document, typing Cmd-A (or anything else) won't do anything, etc. Even stranger, I can open up the Keyboard Viewer and see that all the keys that I'm typing (letters, numbers, etc.) are actually being displayed in the Keyboard Viewer correctly. So the key press is registering with the Keyboard Viewer, but isn't making it to the actual OS. I can even use my mouse to click individual keys in the Keyboard Viewer and, although the keys highlight in the Keyboard Viewer as expected, nothing is registered by the OS (the letters never get registered by any applications).
Once my computer is in this state, my only option is to quit the Dock (using Activity Monitor), which restores my full functionality. (Note I discovered this "fix" by trial and error- I was restarting various parts of my system and noticed that this restored my functionality.) I can then work as normal in that space, Also, I can change spaces by selecting a different space using the icon in the menu bar, or by dragging a window to the edge of the screen. All of these actions will change the space without breaking anything. However as soon as I Ctrl-arrow to another space, it immediately breaks my ability to type. Quitting the Dock will again restore things. My Mac will stay in this state (where I can't use Ctrl-arrow to change spaces with breaking things ) until I reboot. After a reboot everything goes back to normal. Things will then be fine for a week or so (during that time I can Ctrl-arrow just fine), and then one day I'll be changing spaces using Ctrl-arrorw and the HUD will stay up and I'll be stuck again.
When the actual breaking occurs (i.e. when I issue the Ctrl-arrow that breaks the functionality), nothing is being written to the Console. However when I quit the Dock, I see these lines, which may be related:
    11/3/11 4:43:09 PM          com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[223]          (com.apple.Dock.agent[58885]) Exited with exit code: 1
    11/3/11 4:43:09 PM          com.apple.Dock.agent[59232]          Error registering cmd-tab key, 1011
    11/3/11 4:43:09 PM          com.apple.Dock.agent[59232]          Error registering cmd-shift-tab key, 1011
I've ben having this problem off and on for many months, through a few OS updates. I'm completely stumped what might be causing this. I've tried unplugging and replugging my keyboard to no avail. However I'm thinking it must be pretty low-level, since when it's in this state even directly clicking on the Keyboard Viewer keys doesn't get registered by the OS. Other than this problem, the Mac is completely trouble-free, so I don't think there's anything wrong with the hardware. I've tried to think if this problem is related to anything else that I'm doing on the system that might be triggering it, but I don't think there's anything unusual that I'm doing. When it's in this state I can quit every application and disable and re-enable spaces and it doesn't get me out of it- I need to quit the Dock and eventually reboot. Anyone have any ideas where to look for a solution?

So I never figured out what causes this, although the frequency has dropped to about once a month. Note I'm still on 10.6.8. However I did figure out a bettery way to get back control of the keyboard. If I sleep the displays (Ctrl-Shift-Eject) and then wake the displays back up, the keyboard goes back to working fine. Evern better, changing spaces doesn't reignight the problem. So I'm good until it randomly occurrs again.
Hope this helps someone else out there.

  • New Depreciation to start from Mar (not Jan) after change of useful life

    Hi
Does anyoe has any solution or will there be changes to SAP B1's Fixed Asset?
Let me explain the full scenario as below:
    1) Customer has Fixed Assest which has useful life of 25 years, i.e. 300 months.
    2) The assets has been depreciated for a few months, e.g from July 2008 to Mar 2009. In FA Master Data, it shows the remaining useful life is 294.
    3) From Mar 2009 onwards, the management decides that the userful life is to be 30 instead of 25. The past depreciated value is to remain. The new depreciated value is to be effective from Mar 2009 onwards.
    Changes Done
    1) In Fixed Asset Master file, under the General tab, a change has been made to the Useful life from 300 to 360. The remaining life is auto-change to 354.
    2) Re-run the depreciation for Mar 2009.
    3) The new depreciated value is re-calculated from Jan 2009 onwards and the adjustment is posted in Mar 2009.
What is required is that Jan 2009 to Feb 2009 should remain the original depreciated value. The new depreciated value should be adjusted from Mar 2009 onwards.
Please advise is there any solution or proposals.
    Example
    Asset value = 518749.95
    Useful life = 300
    Remaining Useful life = 294
Monthly Planned Depreciated Value = 1729.17, Dec Planned Depreciated value = 1729.13
    After Changes Done
    Asset value = 250000
    Useful life = 360
    Remaining Useful life = 354
Monthly Planned Depreciated Value = 1436.09, Dec Planned Depreciated value = 1436.06
    Required
    Asset value = 250000
    Useful life = 360
    Remaining Useful life = 354
Jan and Feb Planned Depreciated Value = 1729.17
Mar 2009 onwards, Planned Depreciated Value = 1404.95
    Calculation = (518749.95 - 20750 - 3458.34)/352
where 20750 is the depreciated value for 2008 and 3458.34 is the depreciated value for Jan and Feb 2009.

  • Change of Depreciation key - Planned Depreciation

    Dear All,
We are having the scenario that, when we change the depreciation key for the asset, the system issues the warning message and still we need to change that.
However the asset has been posted to already. As a result of changing the depreciation key, the planned depreciation in open fiscal years will be recalculated.
How do we avoid to recalculate the planned depreciaiton for the asset when we change the depreciation key.
Because everytime we need to stop depreciation for a number of assets and thus change of depre.key is required.
I request you to all, please kindly provide your values.
    Regards,
    Ran.

    Hi Friend,
It is possible to change the depreciation key, but you can not avoid Planned Dep. Posting Run. As the system considers that it has to re-run.
According to me, you should create the new depreciation Area for such kind of assets and you should go for manual depreciation. Because it is not reasonable to change the depreciation key everytime.
    Regards,
    Jigar

  • In repeat run, can i calculate Depreciation for perticular period.

    Hi
when I calculate the depreciation in Repeat Run, It shows the message that for 12 periods only the Dep is calculated.
But I want to calculate the Dep for Particular period. Is it possible?????
If possible pl give me the suggession
    Venkata Raju

    Hi,
    You can't do.
    See below note:
It is possible to repeat the posting run within the period last posted. However, in contrast to the first run for a period, the repeat run can be restricted to specific assets. In the repeat run, the system posts changes to depreciation, as compared to the depreciation amounts from the previous run.
Normally the repeat run is carried out at the end of the fiscal year, if completing postings are necessary because of corrections to manual depreciation or depreciation terms.

  • Fixed Assets: Changing Category, Depreciation, life

    hi
i have an requirement where we need to change asset category, depreciation method, no depreciation and life(1 month). And want to make total depreciation to zero.
    Ex:
    Asset#A1 already depreciated some amount.
Original category X and degault rules are set to Depreciable.
Defined to new category Y and associate default rules to all CORP and TAX books to not depreciate.
Changed from category X to Y
Now after reclassification, it is depreciating entire amount of the asset and posting to current open period. As the reclassification does not default the new category depreciation flag, it is depreciating entire fixed asset cost immediately. I didn't run depreciation.
Now how do i change YTD depreciation to zero?
Thanks in advance for all your suggestions.....
    Need it immediately.....

Hmm, did you not test this out in a test environment first before doing this in production? Can you be specific on the choices that you made when you changed this asset? Maybe you chose to expense the adjustment in the current period rather than to amortize? Because you originally had it in a depreciable status, then changing it to new financial information, looks like it is choosing to expense the remaining asset cost immediately (which is why you are getting depreciation without having run depreciation). You may need to contact Oracle support at this point to find out how to best recover from this. Though if just one asset, you can just do a journal entry to reverse the depreciation. Then you would want to contact support to find out what is the best way in the future to make this kind of change. The documentation unfortunately does not address the kind of change you were making here. Doe show that it is important to get the depreciation setup correct before activating an asset.

  • Recalculation of dep by change in depreciation methods from wdv to slm

    Dear all,
advice me as per indian accounting standard. I am in great need for this solution.
    my scenerio
    we are on ECC 5.0.
As per the standards if an organization change its depreciation method e.g from WDV to SLM or vise versa, system should recalculate the depreciation for all assets from first acquisition date. i am trying to explain the situation the following example:-
    first acquisiton in assets X - 4/1/2000 for 50,00,000/-
    dep method - WDV CALCULATED @ 13.91
both PLANT -1, PLANT-2 are in the same company code 1000.
in PLANT -1 - WDV METHOD
in PLANT-2 - SLM METHOD are used
up to 05.11.2007 the asset X is in PLANT -1 & dep is calculating @ 13.91 on WDV method.
on 06.11.2007 the asset X is transferred from PLANT -1 to PLANT-2 in which SLM METHOD @ 4.75%
    is used.
    present scenario
Depreciation is calculated up to november (8th period) of current year @ 13.91 on WDV method.
on this situation system should recalculate the past depreciation from 04.01.2000 as per SLM method and post the surplus in dec'08. i.e, reduce the depreciation amount in the current year.
is above situation is possible in SAP. if yes please explain in detail. if not then what is the best possible way to meet this requirement.
    Thanks & regards,
    Sandeep

Yes Sandeep, Change the Depr key (Depr method). Run AFAR to see whether the system recalculates the Depr for atleast the current FY, if not for the previous FY's.
Now Manually calculate the Difference in depr till last FY (WDV Depr minus SLM Depr) and post the difference amount thru ABZU transaction.
Check to which account the ABZU post the excess depr.  You can post a rectification entry for the excess depr posted thru ABZU, if you want to transfer it from the existing account to the new account, for accounting purpose.
Please follow these steps in an order & revert in case you still have any questions.

  • Depreciation after modernization

    Hi all,
our client has a special request. We maintain depreciation area for tax depreciation and another for book depreciation. After modernization, the client wants to depreciate (only in the book depreciation area) as in the following example (APC=100, life=5 years, modernization=30 in 3rd year):
    year: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7
    APC=100: 20 / 20 / 20 / 20 / 20 / 0 / 0
    moderd.=30: 0 / 0 / 6 / 6 / 6 / 6 / 6
    total depr.: 20 / 20 / 26 / 26 / 26 / 6 / 6
In the tax depreciation area the depreciation would be done in 5 years and not in 7 years as for the book depreciation.
I would appreciate any idea on this task.
    Thanks,
    Zbynek

Please config the period control date.(moder)

  • Revised Schedule VI Depreciation related changes in SAP?

As per Revised Schedule VI requirements related to Depreciation accounting, each and every asset has to be depreciated at individual asset depreciation rates instead of the Asset class. How would this be adjusted in SAP?  Do we need to create new Depreciation keys for each asset? Please suggest.

    Hi dear,
What is the criteria for asset depreciation?
    Could you provide an example?
