  • [SLVD] MySQL Query Browser (1.2.12) hangs when changing schma/database

After a rather big upgrade yesterday (see paste below) I have got a problem with MySQL query browser which is found in package mysql-gui-tools. Everything else seems to be okay, but after upgrading mysql-gui-tools from 5.0r12-3 to 5.0r14-1 (..and now, after another update, its at 5.0r14-2) it is no longer able to refresh schema/databases. Every time I try to change/refresh schema in the schema menu to the right the program hangs and I have to kill it. A refresh icon appears as normal to the left of the schema I'm trying to refresh, but that icon too has frozen. I am however able to execute normal SELECT queries etc if I write the full "path" to the table in the SQL query, but when I try a USE query the same thing happens.
I have done some searching on the Internet about this and found this thread to be interesting. Too bad it's from July 2007..
I tried to downgrade to the old version of query browser, but then I got this problem:
/usr/bin/mysql-query-browser-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libmysqlclient_r.so.15: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
..So I guess theres a dependency problem here with the old version.
Has anyone else got any problem with the MySQL Query Browser after upgrade or has any ideas for a solution?

I found the error on this. In the current PGKBUILD found in AUR, the patch mysql-gui-tools.chema_change_freeze_bug.patch is no longer applied.
I downloaded all related files to this package and built it myself now, with some changes to PGKBUILD and the mysql-gui-tools.chema_change_freeze_bug.patch. It works again :-)

  • Trouble Compiling mysql-query-browser

After building all of the necesary prerequsites I am trying to compile mysql-query-browser on Solaris 10 (x86). I am getting some errors (shown below) when I run the configure script for the mysql-gui-common components. Can anyone tell me how I might fix these errors?

I agree that it is entirely possible that the problem lies with mySQL and not Sun, however the query I posted on their forums is sitting in deathly silence so I'm now trying elsewhere.
After making the change you mentioned it configures clean but it doesn't buil properly afterward, I presume this is the same for you.

  • How to export result set from mysql query browser to .sql in oracle

    Hi folks:
I was trying to export result set from MySql query browser to Oracle. I could able to do
    File->Export Result Set-> Excel format...
What I am trying to get is .sql file so that I can run it as a script in my oracle db. Is there any way we can get .sql file with inserts and delimeters ....?
Did you guys get my question.?
Please throw some light on this....
    Could be very appreciable ....
    Thanks
    Sudhir Naidu

    Hi
Create a sql statement which generates the insert statements.
    Something like this:
    select 'insert into table1 (column1, column2, column3) values (' ||
    column1 || ', ' || column2 || ', ' || column3 || ');' from table 1;
The || sign is the string concatenation sign in Oracle, replace it the appropriate sign in MySql. Export the result set of this query into a file, and you can run it in a SqlPlus.

  • MySQL Query Browser Broke?

Ever since I upgraded to the latest gnome, et. al., the GUI tool "MySQL Query Browser" is broken.  I can connect to my local mysql installation and run queries, but I cannot choose a scheme without the processor pegging 100% and hanging.  I've ran "mysql-query-browser" from a command prompt and it doesn't spit out any errors or anything.
I keep my machine pretty up to date with the core, current and extra packages.  I just updated Friday evening, then this morning and now it's broke.  I'm thinking something is related to the recent gnome upgrade?  Can anyone give this a try and see if they have the same issue?

Does it have somethign to do with:

    Hi all,
Hope everyone is doing great. I tried using query browser to consume BEx queries in dashboard. But I am not able to see the available connection list after choosing BEx query as my source in query browser. Attaching a screenshot of the same.
Request your assistance in solving the issue. Am i missing any settings ? Please help
    Many thanks in advane,
    Nikhil Joy

    Hi Nikhil,
Are you able to see the list of universes (Unx)?
Also you could check the following
    1. Logon to Central Management Console (CMC).
    2. Go to Applications.
    3. Now double click on Web Service and go to Properties.
    4. Update the Access URL as mentioned below and click on Save & Close:
    http://<WebServer>:8080/dswsbobje
Confirm if this URL is accessible in the browser.
    5. Launch Dashboard Design, open Query Browser, click on Add Query and enter BusinessObjects Enterprise logon credentials.

  • Query Browser not available in Dashboards appl !?

    Hello,
We installed SAP BO Dashboards 4.1 SP2 (14.1.2.1121) and want to use universe queries in the dashboard.
The workspace feature "Query Browser" is empty.
We don't get the icons to logon to BOXI (to universe).
Is this an installation issue? What do we need to check?
    Thanks,
    Bernd

    Hi Bernd,
Happy to hear that, but please be aware using excel 2013 with dashboard designer. Most of the time it make issue in integrating with the data. Lot of discussions are happened regarding this. Few are listed below.
Excel 2013 and SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards 4.1 Support Pack1 version 14.1.1.1036
SAP BO Dashboard 4.1 Support pack 1, exported swf file URL component problem - Office 2013
Better to go with the Excel 2010. Just felt to highlight the issues before going deep into the design.

  • Query browser error for a Bex query

    Hello,
I am using Query browser in Dashboards 4.0 to retrieve the data from Bex query. When I select a few dimension measures out of the structure with certain key figures and clicking the preview of the results, I am getting the error message as "Request Processing failed(XLS 000009)[] Error DBMAN(257):SQL Error:58115
Error RS Exception:Arithmetic overflow error converting" kind of error message.
When I remove some dimension members which were selected, I am able to see the preview of the data. What could be the probable reason for the above kinda error?
    Thank you.

These are generic error, please go through the below link and let us know whether its helpful or not.

  • Using Bex query through Query Browser - add result set to Cell range?

    Hi all,
I have up to now used Xcelsius on NW with BICS connection towards BEx queries.
When I use this connection via Data Manager in Xcelsius, I'm able to use the Cross-table functionality to insert my entire dataset into a cell Range.
But now I have an requirement to save my Dashboards on the BO server, so I need to go through Query Browser to extract data from SAP BW to my Dashboard.
When inserting the query in the Query browser and I want to assign the data to Excel ranges, it seems like I need to do this for each individual Infoobject and Key Figure. Since I have many Key Figures (30-50), this is a lenghty process.
Is there a way to insert the entire dataset from Query into a cell range (both rows and columns), or do I need to do this for each Key Figure as indicated in the screen shot above?
--> I know that the Query Browser flattens my cross-table from the Query, but still, it should be possible to avoid to input all my Key Figures (30-50) individually to corresponding cells in my Excel part of the Dashboard.
    regards
    Oddmar Lid
    asdfasf

    Hi Oddmar,
If you want to display the data retrieved from the query you could map the data using the Query data.
Pull scorecard component (for example) and in properties if you see the Display data click on the dropdown and select Query data.
    Hope this helps !

  • SAP 4.1 SP2 - Dashboards Error in Query Browser

    Hello Experts,
I am using SAP Business Objects 4.1 SP2. I am getting attached error while trying to access Universe/Bex query through Query Browser. Please see below the exact steps that I am following -
    1. Open SAP Dashboards. Select Query Browser option.
    2. Select Bex/Universe any one of the option.
    3. Select Cube/Universe based on the selected option.
    4. It throws below error.
Please note, I have already tried following without any luck -
Redeploying dswsbobje application and restarting TOMCAT.
    Increasing APS memory.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Abhijit

Please make sure all the services required services are running.. mainly see if the DSL bridge service is working fine..
The BICS or Universe selection would not work if DSL service has problem..

  • Best Practices for dashboards using Query Browser

    Hi,
As aligned with business requirement, dashboards are using Query browser to fetch data from universes built on SSAS cubes. The issue here is it takes around a minute to initially load the dashboard which is very long as per requirement. Can I find any document or basic points to be taken care of, on improving performance for these dashboards. There are around 30 Queries being used.(cant integrate the queries to decrease the number). Also , using ranking logics at excel level, does this affect the performance?? (All vlookups and "should not be used" formulaes have been omitted)
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Aarti,
    Check the thread http://scn.sap.com/thread/3482541.
Any functions used in Excel level like ranking, vlookp etc affects the performance.
Also check the components you have used in Dashboard as some of them affects the performance.

    JC

  • Best practices for using Query Browser

    Hi,
I started getting along with "Query Browser" option to embed data directly from Bex queries to the dashboard.
I am looking for the Best practices which are recommended and needs to be followed from performance point of view and from reporting point of view.
I went through some of documents but was not convincingly sure about the measures which they suggested.
So, would be thankful for any help points or documents received in relation with it.
    Regards,
    Jaywant Kulkarni.

    Hi JK,
All above links are given general rules and tips & tricks to boost your dashboard performance.
Keep the dashboard simple and clean, dashboards are for summarized level not to the detailed level.
try to understand the KPI for the client based on the write your model in paper first and go through the dashboards.
Maximum of number of rows allowed by the dashboard is 512, you can increase the rows but that too hampers your dashboard, if the result set of the query is too big.
Connections i have seen people using more than 10 - 15 connections into the dashboards, but these many connections. really your dashboard will take time to retrieve the data.
    Things you need to consider:
    - Reduce the components in your DD.
    - Make the font name similar across the dashboard.
    - Enable the option show loading status in document properties, this will increase your loading time.
    - Use refresh type as "Refresh after components loaded".
    - Use simple formula as if-else & sum,indexes.
    - Remove formatting in your query's.
These are the few things you can consider while designing the dashboard. Do search in scn and blog there lot many tips and tricks are available.
    Regards,
    Suman

  • Help regarding Query Browser in Xcelsius

Till now I have been practicing dashboards using spreadsheet as Data Source. But here our consultants have used the BEx query as the data source, which I could n't practice as because i do not have login id and password which is required to "Add Query' in the Xcelsius. Please find the below attached image file and please help in making understand what exactly have they done using the 'Query Browser'.
Would be more thankful, if anyone can make me understand the Concepts of 'Result Objects', Filters and Prompts.
The Drill Down of the First Query i.e.HC_FTE_HC_A_Payscaletype
    --Regards
    Ranendra

    Hi Ranendra,
The only difference is till now u r working on offline data and with these Query Browser you have started working with live data.
Even though you get this live data you have to work on excel as u must dump the data to excelsheet.
Now we discuss the use of Query Browser:
Query browser is a new option we have in current version of Dashboard, we use this to connect
    to
    1) BeX queries through BICS connection
    2) Unx universes which are created in IDT.
Your requirement falls under 1st category
There are few steps which you have to consider before going to result set designing, filters and prompts.
First we have to establish a connection which acts as an interface betwen your BeX query and dashboard and we do that by creating a BICS connection in the IDT.
Just create a BICS connection and this should be exported to repositiry.
Only after this you can access the connection through Query Browser in dashboards.
Now coming to result sets, these are actually your Query. Here you drag the desired dimension objects and measure objects.
Filters: If you want restrict your data, then we use filter. Drag the object in the filter pane.
Prompt: If you want user to make the selection of the parameter then u declare a prompt.
For indetail information about the other properties please go through the Suman description.
