Restrict available languages in portal

Hello forum,
We operate EP 60_SP14 and want to restrict the available languages in the portal.
In the logon screen, the language is detected based on the client browser setting; we can do without this 'automatic' detection and prefer to have a localized logon page that is displayed in the default locale/language.
Is there a possibility to restrict available languages/locales by a method such as to set the default locale (Re: Change default English Locale)
Additionally, if we could provide our users with the possibility to choose which language they want to log on with this would be a plus. We have set ume.logon.locale=TRUE (in UME properties) so that a language selection box is displayed on the logon screen, but this box contains all the languages.
Is there a possibility to restrict this list (in the logon screen) such as you can do within the portal (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/49/e607426338da6fe10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm)?
Thanks for your hints!
Kind regards,
Walter

Hello Detlev,
We need to provide access to the portal in two languages only; our default language is dutch (nl) and we want to provide users with the possibility to switch to english.
Therefor, I would like to switch off the automatic language detection and don't use any setting the browser sends, but rather just use 'nl' as the language in which the logon screen is displayed. (we can and will accept the fact that the logon screen is only in dutch).
Instead of translating the logon-screen however, I think that forcing the language to 'nl' is a more neat solution. For example, is there a possibility to set the portalapp.xml property <property name="ForcedRequestLanguage" value="nl"/> for the logon screen somewhere?
Would we not be able to force the language into dutch then removing the language bundles could be a solution. Can you direct me to instructions on how to do this neatly? I guess that just removing the language bundles will still leave me with all the languages selectable in the combobox at the logon screen.
Finally, setting the ume.logon.locale option seems to work; the combobox from the logon screen allows us to select a language without problems. Instead of manually edit-ing the code; I want to restrict languages in this box to Dutch and English.
Thanks so far!
Kind regards,
Walter

  • Customize Set of Available Languages

    Hi Everybody,
I'm trying to restrict the list of available languages in the list "Language" in "User Profile" of Portal Personalization.
I would like users to have the chance to select only Spanish or English.
I've followed the steps described in:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/49/e607426338da6fe10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
    and also followed SAP Notes
    https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/sap/support/notes/624929
    https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/sap/support/notes/1013521
but the list hasn't changed at all.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance,
    Fede

Please open ConfigTool and Navigate to
    services -> com.sap.security.core.ume.servie.
change the ume.admin.wd.locales Property to en,fr  to include 2 lang(English, French). and remove all other langs.
Please restart sever after these changes.

  • How to install multi language in Portal?

    Hi,
Can someone give me the directions in how to install multi
language in Portal? I found the "langinst.cmd" file under
    ORACLE_HOME\portal30\admin\plsql, also another
    file "langinst.sql" under ORACLE_HOME\portal30
    \admin\plsql\nlsres.
I am not quite sure how I can do that, which file I should use.
And once I installed the multi language, can I just go into
portal to create a new content area and using the multi language?
Thanks for any comment in advance!
    Kelly.

    Hi Kelly
You need to identify parameters for this file and run file. Its
langinst.cmd for WINNT and langinst.csh for UNIX.
    1.     From the dos prompt , go to the following directory on
    your server.
         Oracle/iSuites/portal30/admin/plsql/
    2.     Set the Oracle_Home to = oracle/iSuites/
    3.     Run the command
    langinst.csh -s portal30 -p portal30 -o
    PORTAL30_SSO -d PORTAL30_SSO -c oid -l ar -available
    s - schema
    p - password
    o - < login server - in your case it may be portal30_SSO >
    d - <password- maybe portal30_sso>
    c - connect string
l - language (which is set to ar )
ar is arabic which i ve set
    Good Luck

  • How to add Hindi language in Portal

    Hi,
Can someone tell me how I can have Hindi language in Portal.
For this I have gone through some forums, but didn't get the perfect answer.
For this what I had done is as follows :
    1. Export the com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework.par.bak file.
    2. Change it to com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework.par
    3. I drilled down into it as com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework.par\PORTAL-INF\config and there I find availableLocales.properties and in this I have added <b>hi</b> in the last line i.e. below <b>zh_TW</b>
4 Also exported wizard_language_resources_en.properties from as com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework.par\PORTAL-INF\private\classes and renamed it to wizard_language_resources_hi.properties and add it to the same path i.e. com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework.par\PORTAL-INF\private\classes
    5. Again I deployed back the com.sap.portal.admin.wizardframework.par par file to Server and restarted the Server.
But still Hindi hasn't come in the drop-down list for languages in Portal
Can someone help me on this.
    Regards,
    Deep

    Hi,
You said that Hindi conversion for Welcome is working in Masthead! and you also say after applying note 624929 and setting user language as hindi Welcome message is not shown in hindi. Here these both statements are contradicting.
As the lookup for resource bundle, is done from user language and when no language specific resource bundle found will show English as it is default.
If you still have problems here, tell me more what you did. Like the extensions of your properties files and the language settings of your portal.
To know how the lookup of resource bundle happens:

To translate portal contents (Roles, Worksets, Pages, iViews) to Hindi:

  • Making Primavera P6 reports and dashboards available to a portal

Has anybody any experience with making Primavera P6 reports and dashboards available through a portal?

The My Reports portlet enables you to add an unlimited number of reports created in the Project Management module to the portlet. Once added, you can schedule reports to run at specific time intervals, and then view reports in HTML format or in Excel.
Tip: The "No data available" message is displayed when you have not added any reports to the portlet.
You can schedule recurring reports that run periodically at a certain date, or you can schedule a report to run once. When you schedule a report, the portlet submits the job request to the Primavera Job Service. The Job Service processes the request at the scheduled time and runs the report. Keep in mind that the Job Service runs the reports by logging in as the user who schedules the report. Thus, user security and access settings always apply, and the same report might not return the same data for users with different privileges.
Tip: To schedule reports, you must have the required security privilege and you must also have the Primavera Job Service installed and configured for the database you are using
If you have any further questions please contact support at http://primavera.com/customer/support.asp.

  • How to set selected Language from Portal dropdown in Logon to User profile

    Hi Gurus,
I select a language in Portal Language dropdown in the Logon Page.
After login in the content is getting displayed in the browser language.
I want the portal content to be displayed in the selected language in the portal LogonPage.
I checked the thread Logon page change to add a dropdown for language
The is the requirement for me too .
Kindly suggest me on how to set the language in the Portal user Profile so that the portal contents gets displayed in the selected languages from the dropdown .
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi Prasanna,
The language that the portal is displayed in depends on the following
heirarchy, with the languages at the top of the list taking precedence
    over those at the bottom:
    1. Component (iview) language (defined in the portalapp.xml)
    2. Portal Mandatory language (defined in the prtDefault.properties)
    3. User language (defined in the user#s profile).
    4. Request language (defined by the browser).
    5. Portal Default language (defined in the prtDefault.properties)
    6. System Default language (default locale defined by the OS).
So for example, if you have your portal user language (as in point 3)
set to Russian, but the language of the iView that is the logon page
(as in point 1) set to English, that logon page will be displayed in
    English.
Keeping the above in mind, please make the necessary changes to the
configurations and check if it helps.

  • Add a new language into Portal R2

    Hi all,

use langinst.cmd in %ORACLE_HOME%\portal\admin\plsql for this purpose.

  • Why "Available languages/scripts" list is empty?

    Hi all,
When I wanted to set up several input methods for my Solaris 10 u6 system and opened Launch->Preferences->Input Methods dialog (as root on JDS), I found out that I can't do it, because apparently Solaris thinks I have no input languages to choose from.
In other words, "Available languages/scripts" list is totally empty. But this is really weird: I have specified to support Italian, Spanish and Russian locales during install time and would expect them to show up in that list. I poked around the Internet and found very little help on this matter, apart from some users stating exactly the same problem.
Does anyone know what is going on?

    HI Andrei,
In the activty template UI screen, I am unable to get all the available assignment blocks like survey and activity journal which are available from standard. I have made them visble in the UI config as well, but they are not coming in the available list of assignemnt blocks. These are the standard assignemnt blocks, but few other standard AB are coming.
Only limited assignment blocks are availble.
Please help me resolve the issue.
    Thanks,
    Apoorv

    Hi,
The updates above are for multiple languages.
These are Language Packs when you choose "Windows 8.1 Language Packs" in the Products tab. They can be installed on all the computers with Windows 8.1.
    This behavior is nomal.

  • Availability of Netweaver Portal 7.2

    Hello,
as far as I know is Netweaver Portal 7.2. in the ramp up. Does someone knows when it will be available for all users?
    Thx, Vanessa

    Dear Vanessa.
You have a wrong information. According  to the SAP Release Strategy for Large Enterprises, status February 2010 (http://service.sap.com/releasestrategy) the next major release of NetWeaver and Portal as its component will be numbered 7.3 and planned to the restricted shipment (Ramp-up) somewhere in the second half of 2010.
Also you may refer to Portal bases on Netweaver 7.2 or Netweaver 7.0 EHP2.

  • CRM 7.0 - Restrict Available BP Roles in Account Maintenance

    Dear Experts,
During BP Maintenance in CRM 7.0 Web UI, how can we restrict the BP role values that are available in the BP Role assignment block i.e. we want to limit only to "Sold-To Party" and "Contact Person."
    UI Component: BP_ROLES
    View: BP_ROLES/RolesList
Can we achieve this through Security (which object) or Standard Config.
There is a config setting in SPRO for BP role exclusion groups.  Is this relevant here?
    Thanks!!!
    FK
p.s. We attempted a config change to a BP Role Security profile but this only limited SAP GUI not Web UI.  Is there a different object to limit the values in the Web UI Assignment Block

    Hi Fakhan,
There are two ways to solve your requirement :
    1. via authorization
explore authorization object B_BUPA_RLT and CRM_BPROLE. Those authorization objects define which BP roles can be edited.
    OR
    2. via enhancement
Enhance component BP_Roles/AccountRolesEL. In the context node BUILROLES enhance method GET_V_PARTNERROLE
Do the same in component BP_roles/RolesList context node ROLES method GET_V_PARTNERROLE
    Hope it's solve your problem
    Cheers,
    Lina

  • Need volume license download for Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional. Not available in downloads portal.

We have a volume license for Acrobat 9 professional, and I can see the key in my portal. We, however, do not have a disk for this license, nor is a download available in the downloads portal.
Since we have purchased this software, it would be nice to install it on our computer, especially since we have been recently upgrading hardware.
    Thank you.

What did you do with the original media at the time of the volume license purchase? If it was a download, then where did you save it (and best backup the software)? There is a download for the regular AA9 distribution that can probably be found by searching this forum. It is a bit tricky to download, but can be done last I checked. Try http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1061905.
