Return delivery posting before Credit memo posting.

Hi,
I want to post a return delivery before to post the credit memo.
How can I set up the system so that it will be possible ?
Regards

Is it a return delivery to vendor?
Go to SPRO-MM-Inv Mgmt & Physical Inv -Goods receipt-For GR-Based IV, Reversal of GR Despite Invoice and tick against 122 movement type.
You can post the material document and cancel the IR at a later time.
Also read IMG documentation what it says.

  • Return Delivery with a Credit  Memo Request.

Hello Gurus. I have been working on this issue for quite some time. I will explain the process that was provided by our installers. It doesn't seem to be adding up. Here is the situation, Product that was sent incorrectly was returned. According to our procedures, we create a returns delivery thru VA01, with RE (returns) as the Order Type. We then create it with REFERENCE to the Invoice Number. We remove the items not being returned, enter the Billing Block and Order Reason. Then Save. It gives us a returns delivery number of 6000000, We then return the product back to our stock through MB1B. We clear it and put it back as normal. We then Create a Credit Memo Request through VA01, order type is CR (Credit Memo Request) Create with Reference, we again select the invoice number, delete the items not being returned, enter billing reason, then save. It gives us a number of 60000001. At this point, we enter VF01 and create a billing document. It says the order has billing blocks. We go back in and remove the blocks. We hit save. It now seems to ok, except that, under document flow, under the first delivery 6000000, it shows still being processed (the goods returns shows complete, but the line above shows being processed), and the document flow for 60000001 shows the invoice and the Accounting document as Not Cleared. My question is, should there be 2 seperate orders? A returns delivery and credit memo Request should be under the one delivery number 6000000 according to our procedures? Those were the steps given. Something seems out of place. Are my steps out of order?  Are the procedures wrong?  If anybody has any insight, I would much appreciate it.

I would start fresh with a new sales order.  When you create with reference both the return delivery and credit memo are created with reference to the return sales order.  Here is an example document flow to clarify:
Document                                      Date               Qty/value   UoM/Cur   Overall proc. status
                                                                                    Return 60000077 / 10                          08/25/05               10.000  EA      Completed
    . Returns Delivery 500000016 / 10             08/25/05               10.000  EA      Completed
    .. GD returns QI 4900030060 / 1               08/25/05               10.000  EA      complete
    .. Credit for Returns1 10000017 / 10          08/25/05               10.000  EA      Completed
    ... Accounting document 10000017              08/25/05               10.000  EA      Cleared

  • Delivery vs Invoice in Sales A/R  --- Return vs A/R Credit Memo

    1. What is the difference & relation between Delivery in Sales-A/R vs Invoice in Sales-A/R?
They both similar. Does it mean we can make Delivery only and skip Invoice?
According to definition: 'The Delivery is a legally binding document indicating that the shipment of goods or the delivery of services has occurred. Without this document, goods can be delivered only if an invoice has already been created.
    2. What is the difference & relation between Return vs A/R Credit Memo? Again, I found these 2 are very similar.

    Hi Tom,
    Let me put this Briefly:
    1. The sales Cycle as per SBO starts from Quotation - SO - Delivery and then Invoice. Now as such you can directly create the A/R Invoice without reference to the delivery. There is a difference b/w the two. When you create the Delivery Document the system posts Stock Posting  and in order to post the Value posting you will have to manadatorily create the A/R Invoice.
    2. Now If you directly create the A/R Invoiec without refering to a delivery the system will post both Stock and Value postings. Now you cannot make any payments with reference to the Delivery document in order to make payments you will have to necessarily have an invoice .
    3. Now invoice by itself can complete the whole sales cycle...i.e. when you create the Invoice as mentioned above can do both stock and value  posting.
    4. Similarly the return documnet is created with reference to a Delivery. It is the correction doc for a Delivery. When you are creating a return with reference to a delivery the stock postings are done but on order to do value postings you will have to create a A/R credit memo wRT  the Retuns. However again when you are creating a stand alone A/R Credit memo both stock and value are posted .
    5. Also return doc can be created wrt the Delivery only but the A/R Cr memeo can be created wrt
       a. A.R Invoice
       b. Delivery
       c. A/R DPM Invoice.
Hope I have clarified your doubts.
    Reward points if helpful.

  • Posting a credit memo in reference to a previously posted document

    Hi SAP gurus,
I would just like to ask if there is a functionality in SAP re: credit memo postings wherein the system can refer to a previously posted customer document and automatically derive the values such as GL account, cost center and business area of the posted document to the new Credit memo being processed?
    Example
    Customer invoice:
Dr   Cash (GL 100001, Cost center 1000, BA 1000)               1000
    Cr   Customer A                                                                  1000
In the credit memo posting screen, upon inputting the document number of the invoice in the invoice reference, the client requires us that the GL account 100001, cost center 1000 and BA 1000 be derived automatically without manual encoding from the user. Meaning all they have to input is the customer number and the invoice reference (doc number). Is this possible? Thanks

    Hi
The invoice ref field in credit memo posting is related only with the payment terms. The systems determines the payment term from the original invoices.
This field should be either filled with the original invoice document number or "V".
If the field is left blank, then the system always takes the payment term for credit memo as "Due immediately"
I dont thing there is a provision for copying the line item details as per original invoice document.

  • Problem in credit memo posting

    Hi,
I am trying to post a Credit memo. But while i am posting the credit memo in Miss Income a/c system shows me that message :-
Account 300200 requires an assignment to a CO object
    Message no. KI235
    Diagnosis
You have not defined a CO account assignment for an account that is relevant to cost accounting.
    System Response
Account 300200 is defined as a cost element.
This means that you must always specify a CO account assignment.
    Procedure
Enter one of the following CO account assignments
    Order
Cost center / cost center/ activity type
Sales order item (for a project or cost relevant)
    Project / WBS element
    Cost object (Process manufacturing)
    Network/ Network activities
    Business process
    Profitability segment
    Real estate object
The posting row affected is 002, account 300200.
    Could you help out me.
    With Regards
    Ravinder kumar

    Hi Ravindra,
You would be getting this error message as the account 300200 is defined as cost element. When any account is defined as a cost element, the system would not allow postings unless you enter any cost object while posting to this account. Cost Objects would include Cost center, Internal Order, etc. Please proceed as below:
    1) while posting the credit memo in the FB75 (or FB65)  screen, in the line item, scroll right and enter any cost center defined for your company code in the "cost center" field. Then simulate and save. The system would thus post the credit memo.
    2) You can even try deleting the cost element. Go to Tcode KA04, and enter this account 300200 and press execute in the test run. Check the result. If the result shows that the cost element can be deleted, go backand execute the same as update run (without test run). If the result shows that dependent areas exist for this cost element, then point 1 is the only option.

  • Vendor Credit Memo posting to Asset when invoice did not

    Hi Experts,
We are on SAP 604 and have the following scenario.
PO to purchase an asset at $10,000.  (not an inventory item).
Goods receipt has NOT been done.
1st invoice comes in but is only for half of the asset.  (.5 qty at $5,000)  does not post to asset since there is no GR done.
    Postings:
    Debit 201010 $5000
    Credit 201015 $5000
2nd invoice is data entered wrong.  It is for the remaing half but Acts Pyble enters quanty of 1 instead of .5.
    Debit 201010 $5000
    Credit 201015 $5000
When reversing the second invoice (or even just entering a credit memo), instead of the posting doing a simple reversal of hte invoice like this :
    Debit 201010 $5000
    Credit 201015 $5000
SAP posts to the asset even though there has yet to be any other postings done to the asset (no GRs and no invoices have posted to the asset).  Credit Memo posts like this:
    Credit 201010 $5000
    Debit 201015 $6666.67
    Credit Asset: $1666.67
Please confirm whether you see this posting as an issue for the asset.  I have posted an OSS message to SAP and they are saying the system is working as designed unless I gather enough business requirements to do a development request.  I'm trying to see if this posting is just an issue for my organization.  Typically we would not expect a Credit Memo to capitalize the Asset.  - Or if you know of a fix, please let me know.
    Thanks!
    Cindy

If you do not want negative posting/ balances in your asset, you can configure the depreciation areas to allow positive values only. That way if balance is negative (as in your example), posting is not allowed.

  • Credit Memo posted against Service PO

    Hello Experts,
Our client wants Credit memo posted against Service Order PO's should credit the Service Entry sheet. This credit memo should reflect in PO history as well. Is there any such configuration? or how to meet this requiement...
    Please suggest.

    Hi Sridhar,
    Its a business requirement.
Suppose we have posted SES of total value 1000 USD. The same will be reflected in the actual value in Limit section of PO.
So when, after IR, we post credit memo it should reflect in the actual value. Say after posting credit memo of 200 USD, the actual value becomes 800 USD.
Came to know from somewhere that the problem is in configuration but not able to find out the same.
    Can you please help.

    Hi,

I need to post a credit memo (MIRO) using IDOCs now.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks
    Srinivasa Vepa

    Hi,
We created our own Function Module to create a Credit Memo with reference to a billing document via BDC, and the VBFA doc flow population was automatic. I do recall we have to do some work to get the iDoc relationships working though.

  • Difference between doing revaluation of an asset and posting a credit memo

    Hi all,
My cleint wants to know what exactly is the difference between posting a credit memo to an asset and doing revaluation of an asset.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Krishna

    hi,
revaluation: An adjustment to asset values to compensate for a reduction in the value of a currency because of inflation or when adopting market value principles for the valuation of fixed assets.Revaluation enables you to valuate assets at their replacement value (which differs from the acquisition and production costs).
credit memo: A posting that reduces the balance of the asset

  • MIRO - Credit memo posted before invoice

    Hello,
I have a problem with MIRO.
User is able to introduce credit memo to purchase order even if there was no invoice yet.
The strange thing is that when he introduce PO number in MIRO (credit memo) system issue a message __M8080 Reversal quantity greater than quantity invoiced to date__ and that is ok but after user will click on multi account assignment and get the same mesaage "Reverse qty greater than qty credited so far Message no. M8476" but after he close the pop up with account assignemnt and back to main screen there is no message M8080 any more and user is abl;e to post credit memo with negative quantity what finally issue ABAP  error DYNPRO_FIELD_CONVERSION
    Screen name.............. "SAPLMR1M"
    Screen number............ 6310
    Screen field............. "DRSEG-REMNG"
    Error text............... "FX015: Sign lost.".
When I would like to display invoice (credit memo) in MIR4 or from ME23n history.
But the main question is why system clears message M8080 after clik on multi account assignement.?
Thanks in advance for your help.....
Edited by: PG on Sep 2, 2011 10:19 AM

    Hi,
THis is definetly a issue related to SAP Note.
Try this SAP note in dev.
Note 1332137 - MIR6/MIR4: Negative quantity with parked documents
    Summary
    Symptom
You use transaction MIR4 (Display Invoice Document) or MIR6 (Invoice Overview) to post a parked credit memo with reference to a purchase order.
You change the item quantity (MENGE) so that it is greater than the current invoice quantity (REMNG) and, without pressing "Enter", you immediately choose "Post". Even though the system executes the quantity check correctly, and error message M8 080 "Reversal quantity greater than quantity invoiced to date" is displayed in the message log, the system unexpectedly allows this credit memo to be posted.
As a result, when you display or create invoice documents for this purchase order, the ABAP short dump DYNPRO_FIELD_CONVERSION occurs.
    Solution
The Support Packages for Releases 4.70, 5.00, 6.00, 6.02, 6.03 and 6.04 correct this error.
If you require an advance correction: Implement the correction instructions.
Hope this will resolve your query,
    Regards,
    Sandesh Sawant
