Review Track Changes Author

When working on a document in Track Changes mode and wanting to add further changes , Word is stating that I am the 'author' which is incorrect. I write or change something and it comes up as blue and with my name which is correct, however as soon as I
save this it then changes back to 'author' and red. making all changes by all users the same. Please help as we need the old way of reviewing, ie. different colours and different names issues to changes. All settings are correct for user name etc.

What you describe suggests that someone has run the Document Inspector on the document and selected the option to remove personal information. Once this has been done, reviewer names will be removed each time you reopen the document. To prevent this from
happening, clear "Remove personal information from file properties on save"; assuming that you are using Word 2010 or 2013, you'll find the option at File tab | Options | Trust Center | Trust Center Settings | Privacy Options.

  • Change Track Change Author after Review Complete

    In a Word 2010 report, various reviewers have worked on their individual sections so track changes shows their individual names.
    Now the client wants no individual name but company initials instead.
    Can I somehow make that change from my computer? If they open the doc on their computer and make the change individually, is there a way to update that information?
    Thanks!

    You could do that with a macro, such as:
    Sub Demo()
    Application.ScreenUpdating = False
    Dim StrUser As String, StrCompany As String, i As Long, Rng As Range, RngMv As Range, bTrk As Boolean
    StrUser = Application.UserName: StrCompany = "My Company"
    Application.UserName = StrCompany
    With ActiveDocument
      On Error Resume Next
      bTrk = .TrackRevisions
      .TrackRevisions = True
      For i = 1 To .Revisions.Count
        Set Rng = .Revisions(i).Range
        With .Revisions(i)
          If .Author <> StrCompany Then
            If .Type = wdRevisionDelete Then
              .Reject
              Rng.Delete
            End If
            If .Type = wdRevisionInsert Then
              Rng.Copy
              Rng.Collapse wdCollapseEnd
              .Reject
              Rng.Paste
            End If
          End If
        End With
      Next
      For i = .Revisions.Count To 1 Step -1
        Set Rng = .Revisions(i).Range
        With .Revisions(i)
          If .Author <> StrCompany Then
            If .Type = wdRevisionMovedFrom Then
              Set RngMv = .MovedRange
              .Reject
              Rng.Cut
              RngMv.Paste
            End If
          End If
        End With
      Next
      .TrackRevisions = bTrk
    End With
    Application.UserName = StrUser
    Application.ScreenUpdating = True
    End Sub
    The above macro deals with insertions, deletions and moves. There are numerous other revision types that might also need to be dealt with - I'll leave it to your organization to code for them. Change 'My Company' to whatever name you want to use.

  • Track Changes -- Author Color

    I have made one set of changes in a doc in blue.  I now want to add a second set of changes without eliminating or changing the first set.  Can I add the 2nd set of changes in a new color ...e.g. green, while still keeping the first set of changes in blue?

    Look page #71 in Pages User Guide.

  • Co-author cannot access track change and add/delete scenes

    My co-author cannot access track change or add/delete scenes. Is it a bug or is there a setting that I did not set correctly.  I shared the document as co-author several times with the same results. Any help would be appreciated Thank you Brice

    Hi there,
    Unfortunately, currently only owner of the document has the right to turn on/off track changes or accept/reject changes. Co-author can still view the document as Original or Final from Review menu or even navigate through the changes using Next Change/Previous Change. Extending the track changes rights to co-author as well is being considered on our backlog of items to do.
    Meanwhile, the co-author should still be able to go ahead and edit existing text, add new text, delete existing text and it should be getting tracked.
    Do keep providing us your feedback on the track changes feature. Your feedback is extremely important to us and helps us to improve.

  • Word 2013 Track Changes Not Showing New Author Changes

    The .doc file has multiple comments, deletions and changes (all showing in bubbles) but when the author makes any new changes, the bubble fails to appear and the text remains in blue. If the same author deletes the text moments later in the same session,
    with or without save, the bubble appears saying that the author made a deletion. There are also a few occurrences of past changes having a redline without the bubble. All files are local to a machine added to a domain with a domain user. I am unsure of the
    Word version that created the file as it was emailed from another company. I've tried copying and pasting to a new format/same format and saving into a new format (.docx.) Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Cory

    Our office has been struggling with a related problem that maybe you can solve. Basically, the same person is repeatedly given a different reviewer name as they work in a document (presumably every time the document is autosaved). For example, if I work
    for an hour adding edits or comments on a document by the time I'm ready to share it it will look like five different people made changes.
    The Inspect Document fix works great to remove all the extra reviewer names, but it changes them all to 'Author'. Do you know how to then either a) change 'Author' to the reviewer's actual name or b) stop Office from assigning multiple names to the same
    reviewer. Also, we've tried checking 'Always use these values regardless of sign in' under General to no avail.
    Thanks - your fix is the closest we've come to a solution and it's greatly appreciated.

  • Microsoft Word: Changing user/reviewer in track changes

    Apologies for posting about non-apple software. Just hoping someone can help:
    I often review drafts of long documents multiple times, sometimes weeks apart, using track changes in the latest version of MSWord. I would like to be able to differentiate between reviewing sessions by changing the color of the tracked changes. I feel like there should be a way, could I change the user even if I am using the same computer?

  • How do I change the font color for track changes in pages?

    I am using the "track changes" function to edit a document in pages, and would like to change the edited text from pale yellow green to a color I can actually see.  How do I do this?

    Hello Zoolie,
    That is an easy thing to do. Go to the drop down menu View > Comments and Changes > Author Color and then just select the color that you want and you will be good to go. Take a look at the article below for more information if needed.

  • How can I export comments and tracked changes from Pages to Word?

    I just purchased Pages and tried to export a couple pages of my document to Microsoft Word so I could send them for review to a client who does not have Pages; however, when I copy-pasted into Word, none of the comments or tracked changes showed up in the doc., only the finished product. I've tried updating my software, but that hasn't worked. Is there a way to fix this?

    Here is what the Pages User Guide says:
    " Exporting Pages Documents to Other File Formats
    If you want to share your Pages documents with those who aren’t using the latest version of Pages, you can export your document to file formats that they may be able to use on their computers or other devices:
    • PDF: You can view PDF files in iBooks, and view or print them in Preview and Safari. You can edit them with a PDF application. Fonts used in the Pages document are preserved in the PDF file.
    Hyperlinks in your Pages document are exported to the PDF file. Hyperlinks are also created in the PDF file for table of contents entries, footnotes and endnotes, webpages, email addresses, and bookmarks.
    • Microsoft Word: You can open and edit Microsoft Word files in Microsoft Word on a computer running Mac OS X or Windows.
    Because of text layout differences between Microsoft Word and Pages, an exported Word document may contain a different number of pages than its Pages counterpart. You may notice other differences, as well, for example, table layouts and some special typographic features may not be identical. Some graphics (particularly those using transparency) may not display as well. Charts created in Pages appear as MS Graph objects, which you can edit in Microsoft Word.
    • RTF: You can open and edit RTF files in many different word processors. RTF files retain most of the text formatting and graphics.
    • Plain text: You can open and edit plain text files in many text editing applications, such as TextEdit. Exporting to plain text removes all document and text formatting, and images aren’t exported. ePub: You can open ePub files for reading in the iBooks application on an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch, or in any ePub file reader. After you export your document to ePub format, you must transfer it to your device to read it in iBooks. To learn more about optimizing a document for ePub format, exporting it, and transferring it to your device, see “Creating an ePub Document to Read in iBooks” on page 257.
    If your Pages document is password-protected, the password-protection is removed from the new file that's created upon export. However, if you export to the PDF file format, you can apply a new password at the time of export. "

  • Microsoft Word "track changes" error

    Has anyone experienced this? Someone sent me a file with changes made using the "track changes" option. The file shows those changes perfectly on a PPC Mac. But on my MBP, the changes are not visible. I've done the obvious stuff -- the option to "highlight changes on screen" is selected, but it neither highlights on the screen nor when I print it.

    What's the version of Word you are using?
    How 2 or more reviewers shared the document and review it?
    The timestamp/date is based on the reviewer's computer time, locate him and then eliminate timestamp in that document. Let the reviewer test the behavior.
    Thanks.

  • Editing/Track Changes in RH7 HTML

    I am looking for a way to create topics, send the topic
    electronically, to a SME, have the SME edit the topic, send it back
    and accept or reject the changes from there. The SME's will most
    like NOT have RH7. Does anyone know how to "track change" text in
    RH7 HTML topics for SME's who don't have RH7? Or have a suggestion
    on the best way to do this? SMEs are sometimes located in a
    different state so paper manual review is not a good option.

  • Show/Hide Reviewers in Tracked Changes in iPages

    Is it possible to hide the tracked changes for one (or more) reviewer(s) while showing the tracked changes from one (or more) other reviewer(s)?

    As far as I know the response is no.
    You may try to mimic the feature applying the white color to comments done by one or several reviewers.

    Since upgrading to OS X Mavericks I have not been able to work on any MS Word tracked changes documents (works fine if no tracked changes or comments in the doc). Every time upon opening such a word file with tr.changes the word processor closes / crashes.
    What can be done in this case?

    I just discovered that by turning off in tracked changes balloons in Word preferences prevents the software from crashing, but from then on I need to use only the review pane.
