Right margin (1/2") of iPod screen unresponsive to touch-Fix?

the right margin (about 1/2" inch) of my iPod 4th gen doesn't respond to touch. Anyone know why - anyone suggest a fix? Already tried a "restore" - it didn't work. However, for a brief while yesterday it was responsive. Now it's not again.

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

    My iPod Touch (1st gen) has become unresponsive screen after reseting. I'm getting the Apple logo accompanied with a loading (wheel) symbol. What should i do....any suggestions, please?

    Glad you got it working. Troubleshooting these units is not very hard. It's basically a process of elimination.

  • Ipod screen magnifies without touching it

    When I press the "home" button to turn on my Ipod, the screen is automatically magnified. I've learned how to get down to the slide button to get to my icons but even they are magnified. They are so large, I only get 4 full icons on the screen and two half ones at the bottom. I've tried pinching my fingers together on the screen and going into "settings" but I have no idea what I'm looking for.
    The screen did this on it's own and will reduce down to the normal size while opening up a program but immediately zooms to the large size when it gets to the new screen.

    Disregard, I found the solution within this discussion board. Sorry for my impatience!

  • Lower Half of Landscape Screen Unresponsive to Touch

    Ahoy!
    I'm writing a Landscape Orientation only app that doesn't display a status bar. I started by using the Utility Application template in XCode.
    I've edited my info.plist and added the following entries...
    {quote}
    <key>UIStatusBarHidden</key>
    <true/>
    <key>UIInterfaceOrientation</key>
    <string>UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight</string>
    {quote}
    I've gone through and set Status Bar to none for FlipsideView.xib, MainView.xib and the Root View Controller in MainWindow.xib
    I've set the following code in RootViewController.m, MainViewController.m and FlipsideViewController.m..
    {quote}
    - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceO rientation {
    // Return YES for supported orientations
    if (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeLeft) return YES;
    if (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight) return YES;
    return NO;
    {quote}
    And I've modified AppDelegate.m to change the orientation...
    {quote}
    - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application {
    // Override point for customization after app launch
    \[\[rootViewController view\] setHidden:YES\];
    \[window addSubview:\[rootViewController view\]\];
    \[application setStatusBarOrientation:UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight animated:NO\];
    \[\[UIDevice currentDevice\] setOrientation:UIInterfaceOrientationLandscapeRight\];
    \[window makeKeyAndVisible\];
    // Delay to allow views to rotate to ensure a smooth transition
    NSTimer *timer;
    timer = \[NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:0.35
    target:self
    selector:@selector(showView)
    userInfo:nil
    repeats:NO\];
    - (void)showView {
    \[\[rootViewController view\] setHidden:NO\];
    {quote}
    Everything is working great. The views change nicely and will orientate in either direction.
    My problem is that when I started laying out my User Interface, I discovered that MainView was somehow preventing me from clicking any buttons on the bottom half of the screen. I could place and click buttons above 160 px. I could click just the portion of the buttons above 160 px. But any button, or part of button, that exists below 160 px will not allow me to click it.
    I've tried disabling/enabling the button.
    I've tried hiding/unhiding the button.
    I've tried moving the buttons up programatically, clicking them, moving them down programatically. No luck.
    I'm beating my head against the wall.
    It's like the bottom half of the screen is not available for touch events.
    The Flipside View works perfect.
    If I start with the Flipside view instead of MainView, FlipsideView will have the same problem and MainView works perfect.
    I can put other controls in the lower half, like a label, and manipulate them without a problem.
    I know the MainView starts off portrait and then flips to landscape. That's why I hid it in the Delegate Class. Since MainView is the default view that is loaded, and the problem transitions to FlipsideView if I switch that, I believe the problem must be in the initialization of the default view.
    For the life of me I can't find it though.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Bill

    I have made a test project that illustrates this problem.
    The link to download it is...
    http://www.box.net/shared/dysb76lqtj
    I set the RootViewController view to green, MainViewController view to purple and FlipsideViewController to maroon. I made just the changes I outlined above.
    I then added a High and Low button to MainViewController and FlipsideViewController.
    As you can see, when the MainViewController view is loaded, the background stops halfway down the screen but the buttons remain correctly placed.
    Any ideas would be greatly welcomed!
    Thanks!

    My sons ipod is unresponsive.  There is a spinning white cirlce in the middle of the screen.  I have tried the reset by holding down the power button and home button but that didn't work.  It shows the apple icon but then goes right back to the spinning white circle.  Please help!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    The HUD Inspector in Full Screen View seems to position at the right margin of the image as a default(?)  If I toggle the button in the top right of the HUD it 'unlocks' and I can drag it to where I prefer -- at the left margin; (for over a decade) my dock has resided at the right margin so all my slider manipulation over countless editing sessions in Aperture has been ingrained to work at the left margin -- but, the vast majority of the time, the HUD overlaps the image I am editing in this 'unlocked' mode.
    Every occasionally I enter Full Screen View and it positions on the left margin *without* superimposition...(!) My great joy is modulated into aggravation, however, should my tracking cursor drift all the way 'out of bounds' -- to call in the hidden pane of adjacent images sequenced in the library... This dramatically shrinks the Full Screen display and re-locks the HUD; if I toggle the switch to re-xpand the image it re-positions at the right margin!!!!  I SOOoooooo wish I knew how to control the default 'locked' margin of the HUD in Full Screen View...

    Drag it over to the Left. Then lock it there.

  • IPod screen goes black & heats up when connecting to computer - pls help!!

    I posted this same question on somebody else's post but thought id post it under a different subject so someone may be able to help.
    Im having a problem with my 30GB ipod in that it works fine when just listening with head phones, on my docking station or via my car stereo yet not on computer. When i connect ipod to any computer the ipod screen fades out, goes black & then the ipod becomes quite hot (more near the left hand side of control wheel) and both computer & i-tunes does not recognise it?? Does anybody have any ideas or have had the same problem and fixed it? I pod is nearly 2.5yrs old. thanks

    Have you tried a different USB port or a different USB docking cable? It is also possible that the part of the iPod that charges the battery is faulty, or perhaps the battery itself. If it's a 4th gen iPod, the battery is located under the click wheel, more to the left side than to the right. I don't have a 5th gen "video" iPod, but based on the guide here
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPod/iPod-5th-Generation-Video/95
    the battery appears to be toward the top of the iPod.
    FYI - Here's the guide for the 4th gen iPod.
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iPod/iPod-4th-Generation/93
    Whatever the problem, it appears to be related to charging the battery.

  • IPad constantly glitching/freezing/crashing/parts of screen unresponsive - time for a factory reset OR a trip to the Apple store???

    iPad constantly glitching/freezing/crashing/parts of screen unresponsive - time for a factory reset OR a trip to the Apple store???
    My son has nothing but problems with his iPad Mini.  It is less than a year old and it constantly freezes/crashes/glitches and parts of the screen are unresponsive.  This happens while playing games, watching movies, surfing the net etc etc
    The iPad has been in a heavy duty Survivor case from day 1 and has been very well taken care of - so I don't think it's a damage issue
    I have tried numerous resets (just holding the 2 buttons) and have disabled every feature on the iPad that might be causing memory/RAM issues (?)  all to no avail.
    I haven't tried resetting to factory settings as I don't want to lose all the data on the iPad (mostly his game achievements and Minecraft maps that he has worked so hard on!!!)
    SO - any suggestions:
    1) Take it in to the Apple Store - I have never gone to Apple over an issue, is this possibly covered by warranty???
    2) Factory Reset - If I do this can I save all his game achievements/data???
    Cheers,
    Todd

    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

  • My Oracle Support documents print with text cut off on the right margin

    Just a question to check if more people have this issue. When I try to print a document from the knowledge base on My Oracle Support (MOS) it always prints with a lot of text being cut off on the right margin of the page. I tried this with different workstations, OS'es (XP Pro, W7), browsers (IE6, IE8), printers, etc. but it's always the same result. My only workaround is to copy all text and paste it into a text editor. I've logged a service request for this, but Oracle doesn't really seem to care about it and after pointing me to setting margins in Microsoft Publisher (???) and an article on how to export tables on MOS, they pointed to the HTML version of MOS (which has exactly the same issue by the way) and our local IS department for printing preferences. Apparently they cannot replicate this on their workstations, whereas I can replicate at will on a load of different workstations. I know that it's best not to print on paper and read on the screen, but even printing to a PDF writer will cut off text. Does anyone have the same issue with printing documents from MOS?

  • Print is too large. Articles right margin is off page when printing.

    Items are too close to right margin of screen so part of article cannot be seen Firefox 5.
    Items moved to tray when clicked are reduced in size. When finished with them cannot delete them since right side is too close to edge and the delete x is not shown. Only the minimize to move to tray.

    Hello ,  I would like to see if I can help with printing from the internet on Windows 10. Are you using the new web browser Microsoft Edge? How does the print preview show? This video goes through the print settings in Microsoft Edge, maybe it might help you find the desired print settings. Maybe changing the scale settings?
      I also found this video;   Please let me know if any of these steps resolved your issue, or if there is anything else I can do to help.  I look forward to hearing from you!  Thanks,

  • GNOME | Right margin for the list of workspaces

    Hi.
    When I increase the quantity of workspaces to 7, the right margin appears between the right edge of the screen and the workspaces list. Here's a picture, which illustrates the issue.
    Do you observe the issue on your system? How can I solve it?
    Thanks.

    It happens on mine too man. I don't think it's a bug, but if you observe what happens when you add the 7th window, all the windows shirnk in size to accomodate the 7th window, but the container stays the same size, hence the extra margin... if you want to fix that, it'll involve messing with the configuration... sounds like a task.
