Route Determination and Carrier

I have been assigned to a project in which I need to set up route determination for all customers.  I have reviewed the documentation carefully, and understand the high-level configuration that is necessary.  However, one item I cannot seem to find is how route determination can specify a carrier to be used for the shipment.
For the majority of our customers, we don't have specific routes with different legs, we simply have weight groups which determine the carrier we will use.  For example, for customer ABC, if the weight of the delivery is between 1-20lbs, we will use Fedex Air, and if the weight is 20lbs+ we will use Fedex Ground.  Another customer could have a totally different set of weight limits and carrier(s) they would like to use.  We do have a few customers who would like to specify the specific physical route the shipment should take (east coast to midwest, then down to the south, or something like that).
For the first type (by weight) I understand that I can set up weight groups which will help derive the route, but I do not want the route to just equal the carrier.  Instead, we would like to use route determination to help us determine both the route (physical legs in the trip [likely to be defaulted to a general route for most customers, but leaving the solution open for the future]), and the carrier, which would likely be placed as the Forwarding Agent.
Sorry for the long explanation, but if you have any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Routes will be determined either by
a)  Origin Country and Destination Country (with or without weight group) or
b)  by Delivery Type
and I am not sure, where we define transport vendor per route. Right now, I dont have access to SAP and hence, am unable to confirm this.   In fact, one route can have en number of vendors.  When we create a shipment document, you can key in manually the transport vendor which also depends on your shipment type configuration where for the field "Copy routine", whatever assignment is made, based on that system will fetch the data.
This being the case, you can very well manually key in the required transport vendor in VT01N.

  • Route Determination and Shipping Point

    Hi,
In what way Route Determination and Shipping Point are connected.
    advise please.
    thanks

    Simon,
The country and transportation zone of the Shipping point is also considered for determination of Route in sales order and also for redetermining it in delivery.
The system can automatically determine a route for each item during order entry. If visit lists/plans underlie order entry the system uses the routes from the visit lists/plans. If no visit lists/plans exist, the system performs standard route determination. The following criteria affect route determination in an order:
    ·        Country and transportation zone of the shipping point (departure zone)
    ·        Shipping condition
    ·        Transportation group of the material
    ·        Country and transportation zone of the ship-to party
the system is to perform standard route determination in the delivery again, it also takes into account the weight group (weight of entire delivery). The system saves the delivery route in the delivery header. As it is saved in the document header the route applies to the whole delivery

  • Route Determination and allowed substitutions

Can anyone please help with the following issue.
I need to make changes in config so that a customer can receive a delivery on a different route than originally on the delivery.
i.e. customer x has an order with route a. The LSP shippes the order but changes the route to b or c.
How do I make the changes in config for a specific customer or Sales organisation to allow more than one route.
    Thanks

    Hi,
The system can propose route automatically via customizing. If alternative values are defined for your system you can change route manually in the delivery. It also  depends on weight group(if product unit is weight) and configuration of delivery type(T-code-OVLK) for redetermination of route.
    Route determination:
Departure zone of shipping pointShipping conditionTransportation Group+Transportation Zone of ship-to-party.
If you change any one of the above four criteria Route changes.
LE-Shipping-Basic shipping function-Routes-Route determination- Select Departure zone and receiving(destination) zone   and Double click on the folder on Left hand corner (Route dete.with weight group or without weight group).
Maintain all required Shipping conditions, transportation group and actual route.
If you maintain these entries,it will allow you to change route manually in the delivery.(You need to hit F4 to display all possible routes).
2)If transportation zone of the customer is changed then you need to create another ship-to-party record for this customer.
    Thanks,

  • ATP and Route Determination at Storage Location Level

    Hi Experts,
I'm working on a project currently and one of the requirements is to have ATP and Route Determination at Storage Location level. I know SAP standard for this is at plant level but was wondering if anyone has had this requirement before, and if so what course of action they took to solve this issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
in my previous project we have a customized table created for all the route determination and used mv45afzz move field to vbap to determined the route.
not sure if there is a easier solution but at least it is doable through customization for sure.

    hi gurus,
may i know configuration settings for the route determination and the questions
on this topic will they ask in the interview.
thanks a lot to all gurus.

    Hi
The route determines the means of transport and the legs involved. It influences transportation scheduling. For example, the system can determine from the route that goods are to be sent by rail to Boston. Therefore, during transportation scheduling, it takes into account how far in advance loading space in the freight car must be reserved.

  • Route determination for PO and Delivery

    Hi Experts,

Hope you can help me on this.
    Thank you very much.

    Working with Route Schedules
    Use
Using a route schedule, you can control periodic customer deliveries of a particular shipping point to different ship-to parties (for example, customers or stores) in a certain sequence on a certain defined route. The planning is based on calendar weeks. The period unit is a day. Also, route schedules have a goods issue time.
The route schedule function supports the following processes:
Periodic deliveries from a shipping point to stores or customers are planned in advance on the basis of calendar weeks and weekdays, also without reference to particular deliveries.
You adapt the schedules in the specific cases to the planning. For example, you can plan a GI date for a Monday at 8 o’clock, without knowing the exact date or the delivery.
On the basis of this planning, deliveries that are to leave the warehouse at the same time are combined into groups. In Shipping you can thus distribute the workload by processing these groups.
    Features
You can display all deliveries for a particular route schedule on a particular day, for a particular shipping point, and so on. In this way, for example, you can choose picking lists on the basis of route schedules.
You can create route schedules for the following documents:
    Sales orders
    Stock transfer orders
Deliveries that are based on sales orders, store orders, stock allocations, stock transfer orders, and deliveries without reference.
The route schedule is displayed in the header data of the delivery. For each delivery within the route, the system prints the expected date and the expected time of the delivery (on the basis of the local time at the original shipping point) on the delivery note; the goods issue date is used for the goods issue posting and the stock valuation.
In Customizing, you define for each shipping point, delivery type, stock transfer order, and order type whether or not route schedules are to be used.
You create the route schedules in the master data for shipping. Here you define the route schedule determination and the validity period for the route schedule and the itinerary.
As soon as the legs have been defined, you can branch to another screen to determine the actual itinerary, as well as the time (days/hours/minutes) required to get from one unloading point to the next. In this screen there is a field beside each leg. Here you can enter the number of the itinerary for the individual legs of the route. If, for example, you enter legs A and B, but assign itinerary number 2 and 1 to these, B is the first unloading point on this route. If you press Enter, the legs are displayed in the correct sequence.
At the same time it is possible to control the route schedule determination for each delivery type, stock transfer order, and order type. It is activated in the same manner as the repeated route determination. If the route schedule determination for a delivery is active, the system automatically attempts, during creation or change of a delivery, to determine a route schedule and records this in the delivery. Simultaneously, the scheduling is adjusted. All the deadlines, for example, the transportation planning time, the picking time, the loading time, the goods issue time, and the delivery time can change.
Deliveries with the same route schedule and the same date can be selected for the same picking run and the same goods issue. The same procedure can be used for printing delivery notes and freight lists, for the grouping of deliveries into shipments, and for confirmation of picking orders.
Deliveries that leave the warehouse at the same time, but are assigned to different routes and can therefore have different route schedules, can be combined together and processed through the creation of wave picks. The only condition is that all deliveries have the same goods issue time.
    Route Schedule Determination
If exactly one route schedule is defined for a particular combination of requirements, then the system will use this.
For each combination of requirements for the route schedule determination, you can define several route schedules.
In the case of a delivery without a preceding document, the system determines the route schedule with the earliest delivery time at the ship-to party.
In the case of deliveries based on preceding documents (for example, stock transfer orders), the system searches for the route schedule that is nearest to the planned date/time of the delivery. The system uses the following search algorithm:
    - If a route schedule exists for the specified time, this is assigned to the delivery.
    - If there is no route schedule for the time specified, the system searches for the previous route schedule up to the GI time.
    - If there is no route schedule from the GI time to the planned time, the system searches for the next route schedule in the future and assigns this to the delivery.
    Requirements for Route Schedules
The route schedules are determined by the following conditions:
    · Shipping point
Where are the goods coming from?
    Ship-to party and unloading point
Where are the goods going to?
    Shipping condition
How are the goods being shipped?
    Transportation group
    Which goods are shipped?
® For example, which type of goods?
    Calendar week / year
When are the goods to be shipped?
If you do not explicitly enter the week and the year, the entry applies for each calendar week. If you enter a week and a year, the route schedule only applies for this week.
You can only use route schedules if you have maintained the working times and therefore at least one of the following times in minutes:
    · Transportation planning time
    · Pick/pack time
    · Loading time
    · Transit time
A route schedule can leave the warehouse exactly once in a week. If a route schedule runs several times, either on several days or several times a day, it must be copied to another route schedule.
Special schedules and public holiday weeks are possible.
    Processing a Route Schedule
    Implementation Options
Wholesale trade customers and stores can receive goods at regular intervals. These delivery rhythms have an influence on the workload in the warehouse. To help delivery planning, the route schedule serves as a tool for planning regular, repetitive customer deliveries on a particular route. At the time of planning, potential deliveries that have not yet been created are grouped in the route schedule. When the deliveries are created, the system can automatically determine a route schedule and assign it to the delivery. All deliveries with the same route schedule and the same date can be processed together in the shipping point. All these deliveries leave the shipping point together at a particular time. They are distributed along the same geographical route.
    · Deliveries for route schedule MO10H leave the shipping on Mondays at 10:00 in the direction of Philadelphia.
    · Deliveries for route schedule MO10M leave the shipping point on Mondays at 10:00 in the direction of Boston.
    · Deliveries for route schedule MO10S leave the shipping point on Mondays at 10:00 in the direction of New York.
You can print picking lists for all deliveries that belong to route schedules MO10H - MO10S together.
    Prerequisites
If you want to define route schedules, you must perform the following tasks:
    - Activate the route determination
    - Activate the delivery scheduling
    - Activate the route schedule for your shipping point and make the following settings:
    Transaction
    Activity
    Delivery
Route schedule determination for delivery type
    Sales order
Route schedule determination for sales document type
    Stock transfer order
Route schedule determination for delivery type
Set delivering plant and order type
Maintenance of the itinerary should be uniform for all the route schedules used. To ensure exact planning, maintain the itinerary for all the route schedules. If rough planning is sufficient in this case, you do not need to maintain the itinerary for a route schedule.
If you do not define any goods accepted times in the customer master for the unloading points of the ship-to party, the system assumes that the goods acceptance is possible at any time. The system determines the delivery time from the departure time in the route schedule plus the required traveling time to the ship-to party, as set in the itinerary (specific move time). This delivery time must be within the goods acceptance time of the unloading point of the ship-to party. If not, the respective route schedule is not determined during delivery creation.
For more information on route schedules, refer to the Implementation Guide (IMG) under Route Schedules.
    Process Flow
Select the shipping point you are working for and enter the number of the route schedule.
Enter the data that defines the route schedule more exactly:
    - Description of the route schedule
    - Route
    - Departure day (weekday)
    - Departure time
You define the route schedule determination. When you create the delivery, the system can determine a route schedule on the basis of the following data:
    - Shipping point
    - Ship-to party
    - Unloading point (if available)
    - Shipping condition
    - Transportation group
    - (Optional) year/period
You enter this data (with the exception of the shipping point already entered in step 1).
You decide whether or not you wish to define the itinerary for this route schedule.
(Optional) You enter the itinerary and, if required, also the travelling time.
    Creating a Route Schedule
Choose Logistics ® Logistics Execution ® Master data ® Transportation ® Routes ® Route schedule ® Create.
In the screen Create Route Schedule: Initial Screen, enter the shipping point and the number of the route schedule.
If you wish to use data from an existing route schedule as a reference, enter the respective shipping point and the number of that route schedule. If you also wish to copy the itinerary, check the Copy itinerary box.
    Press ENTER .
The Create Route Schedule screen appears (here the system displays the number you just entered for the route schedule and the shipping point).
    Enter the following data:
    Description of the route schedule
    The respective route
    Departure day (weekday)
    Departure time
In the Determine route schedule section, enter the following data:
    Ship-to party
    Unloading point (if available)
    Shipping conditions
    Transportation group
    (Optional) Year/period
If you wish to define for this route schedule the itinerary according to which the individual ship-to parties are to be delivered to, choose Extras ® Itinerary.
    The Create Itinerary screen appears.
Enter the itinerary and, if necessary, the travelling time.
When you determine the travelling time from one ship-to party to the next, you should include the wait time of the vehicle at the previous ship-to party.
If the same route is planned for several route schedules, define for each of these route schedules the same itinerary that should correspond to the stages and legs of the route.
    Choose Goto ® Back.
You return to the Create Route Schedule screen.
In this screen, the Itinerary maintained field is now selected. If you wish to add other ship-to parties, you must also maintain the Itinerary for them.
Check your data and save your entries.
    Reward if helpful...

    Diogo

  • Routes and Routes Determination

    Hello All,
I m basically a technical person and i m doing recording for routes and routes determination.
    I am facing one problem.
while executing transaction 0vtc in one system , while saving data its asking for transport request.
and when i execute the same transaction in IDES system , and when i save data it does not ask for the transport request.
Is there any config for that?
Please help me out...its required asap..
    thanks,
    jigs
    Helpful ans will be rewarded.

    Hi
not sure if this would help. but going through some of the older posts here, here's something I gathered:-
    ++++++++++++++++++++++
It also depends on the client settings, which is done by the BASIS guys. If the client settings are done in such a way that system should not generate requests then it will not generate a request.
If the system is created as a Sandbox then also system will not ask for a request.
using the T codes SE01 where all the list can be viewed , then select the task or transport request click on the trucj button .
    +++++++++++++++++++++
    hope it's a start

  • Transportation Group and Shipping condition fields in Route determination

    Hello Guys,
Please, I heard that if I leave Transportation Group and Shipping conditions field empty Route determination would consider whatever value I put in Material/Custumer Master.
But the determination just happen if I put the exact value in either the determination and the Material Master for Transportation Group field for example.
Have you ever determined Routes leaving the fields empty?
    Thank you,
    Regards,

    Hi,
Those fields Transportation Group and Shipping conditions available in Route Determination are essential to trigger the correct route in Sales Order level.
If blank the available routes need to be picked manually at Sales Order level.
    Kindly check .

  • Intercompany return delivery route determination

    Hi SAP gurus!
How can we setup route determination for intercompany return delivery based on Purchase Order?
We setup in SPRO route determination by delivery type RL by adding route determination check "A" which means "New route determination without check". But this doesn't work - route doesn't appear in delivery, when returns for Purchase Order is created.
    What you would suggest?

    Hi,
Route Determination is based on Departure Zone, Shipping Conditions, Transport Zone & Transport Group.
Departure Zone: Identify the shipping locations (Plants and shipping points).
Usually Plant, Shipping point and Departure Zone are same.
If multiple locations share the route determination then the Departure Zone is same for all the locations.
Shipping Conditions: Identify the shipping conditions to be used for Domestic, Exports and Intercompany.
Transport Zones: The destinations are defined based on postal code, geographic area and transit time.
For specific customers, specific carriers and specific warehouses special Transport Zones are required.
Transport Group: The global design is that all the materials are mastered as transport group 0001.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Route Stage data in Route determination

    Hello Gurus,
We have scenario where in route defnition is not required. I am using the route just to have transportation implemented so I can use the shipment document.
I cannot maintain the route stage information Service Agent, shipping type, Distance, duration etc as all these are decided on the fly at the time of dispatch based on the weight volume of the material available for dispatch.
I get the message "Route 000001 has no valid legs" when I enter into the shipment, as I have not maintained the complete route information.
We have different phases in Shipment like Planning, Loading Start, Loading End.. could anyone plzzz explain me the use of these phases in shipment processing. Is it mandatory to maintain all these??
    rgds,
    Pavan P.

    Hi Pavan,
Go to Transportation in the IMG there you go to Detail screen of the shipment type, in the detail screen of the shipment type there are fields called Adopt Route and Determine legs based on these fileds the legs (stages) will be dtermined in the shipment document.
Go through this link it is having details about automatic leg determination and manual stages creation in the shipment document.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/d5/2285347860ea35e10000009b38f83b/frameset.htm
    For One more doubt.
    You fallow these steps
-->You create condition table with the fields Shipment type you can get the shipment cost based on the shipment type.
I-->n the condition type you select calculation.type as 'R' Distence dependent assign the access sequence.
-->You Maintain the condition record for that in TK11.
-->Maintain pricing procedure and determine the procedure in the IMG.
You can get the simulation of the shipping cost at order level with out hitting the G/L account.Based on this you can select cheaper one.
Shipment Cost Information in the Order
As the shipment costs can make up a large proportion of the total cost of a product it is important and therefore recommended that you have a rough idea of the shipment costs when the order is created. As in normal situations no deliveries, shipments or shipment cost documents exist at this point, simulated versions of these can be "created" in the background to enable you to calculate shipment costs on the basis of these documents.
This means that you can estimate shipment costs. When you make the appropriate setting it is also possible to implement several calculations at the same time, in order, for example, to determine whether transport by lorry or by train would be cheaper or how much more it would cost to send by express delivery rather than by standard transport.
    Integration
Shipment cost information is called up in SD order processing but uses the transportation and shipment cost processing functions.
    Prerequisites
Shipment cost information in the order can only be used if the control parameters and master data for transportation and shipment cost processing have been maintained.
    Features
To calculate shipment costs in the order you can define profiles for shipment cost information. The profile for shipment cost information contains default values for shipment cost information in the order, for example, the transportation planning point, transportation type and the shipment pricing procedure. The profile for shipment cost information is assigned to a sales document type (when defining the sales document types in Customizing for Sales and Distribution). If you do not want to carry out comparisons between the calculation methods, but just want to receive an estimated value for the shipment costs, then use the details from the profile for shipment cost information (transportation planning point, transport type, pricing procedure) and the data from the order (forwarding agent, route) for calculating shipment costs and the related simulated creation of transports.
-->If you do not assign a profile to the sales document type, you can also enter the transportation planning point, shipment type and service agent in the order.
To carry out a comparison of different calculation methods, you can assign one or more shipment planning profiles to a profile for shipment cost information. This planning profile is used to create shipments in collective processing, in order to store specific selection variants and data, which should always be used, in the memory. A planning profile determines how deliveries should be put together with shipments and which data should be put in the shipment documents. You can assign various planning profiles to the profile for shipment cost information, in order, for example, to compare whether it is cheaper to transport by train or by lorry. It is also possible to assign a planning profile for creating transportation chains.
If you begin the calculation of shipment costs in the sales document, the data that is used to simulate the putting together of the two types of transportation, is the data which is saved in the order and in the shipment costs profile, which is assigned to the corresponding sales document type. If the planning profile is assigned to the shipment cost type, this data is also used for the parallel calculation of shipment costs, so that it is possible to compare different transportation options.
Calling up Shipment Cost Information in the Order
    Procedure
Choose Logistics ® Sales and distribution ® Sales.
    Choose Order ® Create.
Enter all the data from your order and save the document.
Call up the document again by choosing Order ® Change.
In the order, choose Details ® Shipment cost information.
You reach the screen where the planning profiles are listed. In the first line, you always have the planning profile . In this line you see the default values from the shipment cost profile that is assigned to the respective sales document type.
If you have not assigned a shipment cost profile to the sales document type, now enter the missing data for Transportation planning point, shipment type, and service provider.
If you have assigned a shipment cost profile to the sales document type, and there are shipment planning profiles assigned to this shipment cost profile, then the system will list all the shipment planning profiles that are assigned to the shipment cost profile.
    Choose Execute.
    Result
In the column Net value, you see the values calculated by the system. If several planning profiles are assigned, you can have the system make comparisons. In the log, you can display the details of the simulated shipments. If you have problems with the calculations, you can check the reasons listed on the log.
I hope it will help you
    Regards,
    Murali.

    Arguably, they're both right.
Changing your router changes everything, so your best course of action is to research the respective printer's documentation and determine how to reset them to factory default condition. Then, add them again using System Preferences > Print & Scan.
For that, I recommend you first "reset the printing system" according to these instructions: Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system. Its instructions for Lion are identical to those for Mountain Lion.
As the article states, it will remove all your existing printers, leaving the Mac's printing system in a similar "factory default" condition ready for you to create a new print queue for each printer, which you should probably do.
Apple's printing support documents contain a great deal of redundancy, but this one may be a good place to start: OS X Mountain Lion: Set up a printer to print wirelessly

  • Route determination third party sales order

We are using third party sales order.  The process flow is as follows.
Sales order -> Purchase requisition-> Purchase order-> Vendor ships material directly to customer.
Route is currently determinined based on the following:
    1. Departure zone (from shipping point)
    2. Shipping condition ( from ship to customer master)
    3. Transportation Group (rom material master)
    4. Destination zone (Transportation zone of the Customer in the order)
Shipping point is in US, but the vendor who ships material to customer is in China. So, we want the Departure zone for the purpose of Route tdeterimination to be based on address in vendor master, and not shipping point.
Is there anyway, we can do this?
    Thanks,
    Srini

    Dear Srini,
    Welcome to SCN forum....
    I find route determination for third party sales not logical. Just think  in Third-Party Orders, theres is no Material-Movement  and no Deliveries from our Plant;
In this case Route Determination will not be applicable. Customer has placed order to you and you have placed an order to your vendor, who directly deliver the goods to your customer. And you dont have to decide which route customer's transporter will take?
So as per me you need not determine routes in case of third party sales order.
    Thanks,
    Raja

The correct route should be maintained in the customizing for the departure country and the receiving country with the shipping conditions and transportation zone etc.
You need to define this in customizing under logistics execution > transportation > Basic transportation functions > Routes > Route determination > Maintain route determination.
Check the route here. Also check the route whici defined in your related customer master data
