Rs232 usb

Hi im train to connect rs232 from usb to my computer, and read, send, info in one aplication in java its possible? can help me?

Solaris Express (Solaris 10 beta) has the "usbser_edge" driver.
DESCRIPTION
The usbser_edge  driver  is  a  loadable  STREAMS  and  USBA
(Solaris USB architecture) compliant client driver that pro-
vides basic  asynchronous  communication  support  for  Digi
Edgeport USB-to-serial converters. Supported devices include
     Edgeport/1,     Edgeport/2,     Edgeport/21,     Edgeport/4,
     Edgeport/421,  Edgeport/8,  and  Edgeport/416.
...The usbser_edge driver is also included in Solaris 9 x86 4/2004, but only for the new
USBA1.0 driver stack. This could be a problem if the Edgeport devices are USB 1.x,
and you have an UHCI USB controller in the laptop, because Solaris 9 x86 4/2004 does
not have an USBA1.0 compliant uhci driver.
Don't know if the usbser_edge driver can send a break signal.

  • Help needed by Good Samaritans for info on Drivers for RS232 / USB ports.

    Dear all,
I would first like to thank you for taking the time to read my message.
I would like to ask all you proffesional LV developer how difficult it
might be to write the drivers for a bluetooth-RS232(or for a Wireless
LAN ethernet/USB access point) device using LV. Would it be better to
    write the drivers in C++?
I have finished the LV Basics 1&2, though we did not learn something helpfull for my case.
Are there any usefull examples i should look at?
The signal transmitted would have a data rate of about 0.5MBbs and the LV program would just display and store the data.
    Thanks for your help

Couple of quick points then I will allow the LV Community to reply to the specifics.  From NI's point of view we would recommend that you use the development language that you feel most confident in, so if you are a C++ guru then use C++.  Another point, you mention that you attended the LV Basic training classes.  I conclude from your comments that you were looking for specific training (while attending did you raise this with instructor at the time?), these training classes are an introduction to the LV environment and set out the ground rules how to best develop a LV application.  Our intermediate courses go into greater detail into advanced LV features - though for some this is still not deep enough (future developments in that for LV 8.0 users soon).  If you are looking for specific training please contact our Training Co-ordinator in the UK and she will be happy to advice.
On the Bluetooth question, LV has Bluetooth tools built in.  These can be found in the Communication palate under Bluetooth (this depends on which version of LV you have, Base or FDS). Please use these VIs to develop you Bluetooth application.  There are 9 Bluetooth examples shipped with LV, these can be found by using the “find examples” in the help menu.
    Kind regards

  • RS232 usb-serial

    Hi There,
Got a new laptop without a serial port, so I'll need a usb-serial adapter...
But does anyone know a usb-serial adapter that supports sending a break signal across it?
I'm looking for a device that can be used on both Solaris x86 and linux running 2.4.x and 2.6.x kernels.
    Cheers

  • Passage RS232 vers USB

    Bonjour.

  • Graphing input from RS232

Yesterday I installed a trial version of LabVIEW because I recall from 7-8 years ago it could easily do what I wanted. I remember from a manual how easy it was to graph data and thought maybe I could put something together but it seems the gray matter in my head has all crept out to make my hair gray and using LabVIEW is not coming back to me as I hoped. One thing I do remember though is that there are lots of examples if one knows where to find them and I remember seeing one where multiple signals were graphed on the same chart.
Here is what I need and I hope you can point me to an example or two.
Data source: FTDI RS232-USB adapter, 115200 baud, 8n1. We use several so I will need com port selection.
Data frequency: Up to 2 transmissions per second, probably 1.
Data description: String of four floating point numbers, range -20.0 to 150.0, can be space or comma separated, \n terminator. Separators and terminator can be changed to whatever is needed.
    Presentation:
Four traces with different colors and/or line types.
X-axis: time, Y-axis range of -20.0 to 150.0 or autorange.
History: I would like to be able to see the data real time but also scroll back at least 10 minutes, 20 minutes better, so rolling queues would be ideal. Fixed arrays to hold same amount of data OK. I really have no idea how to connect the array(s) and the display to do this.
I have an existing VI that interfaces with the FTDI adapter so I know that it works. Unfortunately all I have is the executable.
Any examples, pointers thereto, or vi snippets would be appreciated. I am already looking at a few examples but my LabVIEW computer is offline so I must download VIs on one computer then transfer them to the offline machine.
    Thanks,
    jh

I am way rustier on LV than I thought so it will take me a while to find the various VIs and convert the image you provided into a VI. But I will get it done this weekend after I get caught up with my work schedule (gotta get 3 embedded PID loops working and tuned by Monday). So please forgive my slow forthcoming feedback. I do really appreciate it.
What I posted is actually a snippet.  Save that image to your harddrive and then drag it onto your block diagram.  *Poof* Instant code.  This is assuming you are using LabVIEW 2014 (which is the version I made the snippet in).

  • Acquiring USB signal from power analyzer

I have a 6510e power analyzer that I would like to read in Labview. I have connected an RS232 cable from the back of it, through an RS232/USB adapter into a USB port in my laptop. I am having a hard time finding a way to read that USB data in Labview to manipulate it to get the power readings. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

You have not provided the vendor's name, the programming manual, or the code you have been trying.
Test the commands in the manual with a terminal emulation program such as Hyperterminal, TerraTerm, etc. and then try them with one of serial example programs that come with LabVIEW. Post back with specific problems and include any error codes you get.

  • ADF Faces - Which type of barcode scanner is recommended for ADF JSP?

    Hello everybody:
1.- I'm trying to implement and adf faces app, with the functionality to get some
    data from a barcode reader.
2.- I was reading about the different types of reader's interfaces: keyboard wedge,
    RS232, USB, bluetooth, etc.
    --- QUESTION' SECTION ---
3.- First, the best thing is that my app could be compatible with all interfaces, I
don't know if this is possible without any changes to the code.
4.- If the previous point is not possible, I know that at least my app has to be
compatible with the KB wedge and RS232, because I have read that the USB
just emulate these two interfaces, but in an USB port.
5.- I haven't read to much about this, but I need that my app do a post imediately
after read the barcode, so the best thing my mind could imagine is add an
<enter> char from the reader, I read too that this is only possible with the
RS232, is the only way to modify the output of the scanner before send it to
the app, and with the KB wedge is not possible.
6.- But, the KB wedge is easier to use because my app does not require any extra-
code to handle it, the only thing is: the cursor must be in the correct place in
    the correct time.
I have read in this forum that some people has already implement this, if some of
you guys have any suggestion, please let me know.
    Thnks in advance.
    Alex.

    Hi,
thre is no specific certification between barcode readers and ADF Faces. So if you need a barcode reader, it s up to you testing which one can interact with the browser to fill in the form fields (and this basically is all it does)

  • Can I connect X-Fi to my DDTS-100 through coaxi

I currently have an Audigy 2 ZS but looking to upgrade, do these latest X-Fi card have coaxial so i can have true Dolby/DTS through my DDTS-00 (or through an amp/decoder)?Thanks

    Hello,
I think that all the RS232/USB cables are not supported by default in OS X because each cable has its own driver,
you can check if your cable supports OSX in it's manufacturers website and download the drivers from there

  • Why do I receive error -1073807339 VISA Write

I have a LV app built using LV2010 SP1 on a WinXP 32-bit machine.  The app uses VISA to communicate serially through a RS232 to USB adpater to a pump.  I can run the compiled app (exe) on another Win XP 32-bit machine without error.  But the app generates "error -1073807339" with a VISA Write VI (timeout before completion) when run on Win7 64-bit machine.  I have verified that both WinXP machines and the Win7 machine all have the NI device drivers installed (NI VISA 5.0.3), the LV2010 Run-Time engine, and the RS232-USB device drivers.
I have investigated sources of the timeout error and tried increasing the timeout with no success.  I have also verified port settings, although the app is
    identical between all machines.
I have verified that the installation on the Win7 64-bit machine was done using admin rights and files were installed correctly.
I feel like I must be missing something, so I'd appreciate some suggesitons.
    Thanks
    Dan

Can you communicate to the device on the Win 7 machine using hyperterminal or some some other communication program? Make sure that you have basic communication and it isn't some strange Win 7 thing. Are you runnign Win 7 64-bit? If so make sure you use the correct drivers.

  • Must have LabVIEW installed on your computer to call a VI from SignalExpress?

I am a student trying to finish up a class project, so I'm hoping for a solution that's not too time-consuming, nor expensive.
My problem is that I have a device that outputs a 9-pin RS232, and I just learned that I can't really connect it to my DAQ device (USB-6211) through just ground/tx/rx pins. I was told in the forums that if I get a USB-RS232 converter (because my laptop doesn't have RS232 ports), I might be able to create a VI in LabVIEW to use as a user-defined step in SignalExpress, which came with my DAQ device.
I don't have LabVIEW on my computer; however, I do have access to it on school computers. If I create a VI on another computer, specifying the appropriate COM ports and whatnot, will I be able to import it into SignalExpress on my computer despite not having LabVIEW installed?
Or, does anyone know if there's any way I can use the RS232-USB converter and find that comport directly in SignalExpress? I've looked in the help, but from what I can tell, SignalExpress communicates directly to the USB-6211, and not to any other COM ports I might have on my computer. This would be a much simpler and easier solution, if it were feasible. Thank you!

    Hey Hyenah,
I think Chris from the last forum answered the question quite well with the knowledge base article.
You should be able to use the labVIEW run-time engine, and then follow the Knowledge base article to make it work.

    GerdW,
I realise now I have taken us in the wrong direction. apologies for that.
History, this is not my code and I do not own the process and NOT my preferred method of using it. I was looking for a simple way to make subtle changes.
What we do - We use these programs to collect data from typically 6 pressures and 6 temperature probes and capture RS232 / USB VISA strings from sensors.
So every few weeks / months or up to a year we rearrange each sensor location to suit the new process. I did not write the code. I cannot change the procedure too much without resistance.
So headers in the CSV file have the DaqMX string passed through the code. Great.
Other data to the CSV file comes from calculations or extracted from the VISA string. Hence why we have headers with "Untitled 1 ()". These values also go to a History Chart.
So I was looking for a simple way to read the the local variable label as it is always linked to the front page indicator. People can cope with editing the indicator label, save the VI and hit run.
    TL;DR - GerdW is now a psychologist.

  • Is this a hardware interfering?

    Hello,
I worte a program (please see in attachment) to acquire data by serial ports (RS232) from two instruments--one is a force sensor and another is a position sensor. When I connected those two instruments directly to my desktop by RS232, the data looked good. But when I connected those two instruments to USB ports on my laptop by RS232-USB adaptors, there was then a lot of noise for both data. Someone told me that it was due to the hardware interfering. Since I know little about hardware, could anyone please tell me if that really a hardware interfering or any problems with my code? Why it worked well on desktop and is there any way to fix it? Thanks a lot!

Your code looks fine with one exception.  You should convert the error terminals on the loop border to shift registers.  That way, any error that happens will be propogated to the next loop.  The way you have it, if an error occurs, it will be lost on the next loop iteration and you will never know about it.
You aren't the first person that has complained about USB to Serial converters messing up their program.  The only suggestion I have is to go back to the serial port, or maybe buy another brand of USB-Serial converter.
Edit:  Just noticed that you do not have any Wait funtion in your loop.  This will cause 100% CPU usage, and this may be what is causing your problem because the OS doesn't have time to tend to the USB properly.  This is just a guess.  Put in a small delay (Wait function), say 10mS.  See if that fixes your problem.  Even if it doesn't, keep the delay in there.
