RSS feed in iTunes says it has difficulty downloading episodes

Hi,
When I submit my podcast RSS feed info into iTunes I am told that "we are having diffuculty downloading the episodes from your feed". I have seen this anwered for other poeple with the same issue, but I am using SquareSpace to host my podcasts and I didn't find the previous answers useful in solving my problem. So the RSS feed that I am using to submit my podcast to iTunes is:
http://thesaturatedlife.com/podcast?format=rss
I have gone through all of the steps in both iTunes and SquareSpace, but I still receive the "We had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed".
I can manually subscribe to the podcast through the advanced settings in iTunes (which was also done by tech support at squarespace as well to make sure there was nothing wrong with the url).
I used the feed validator through feedvalidator.org and the rss feed was shown to be a good and active feed.
Does anyone know what I can do? SquareSpace techs can't seem to find out what the issue is. They say everything is in working order on their end. And the iTunes tech guy I was emailing with dirrected me to this forum for help. So I hope somebody knows what I can do to correct this.
Thanks,

There is a whole lot of extraneous material in the feed: I'm not familiar with SquareSpace so I don't know the procedure, but I assume you've started as a weblog page with a lot of text and images and the feed has been taken from that. It's probably harmless as iTunes should simply ignore it, though it does make the feed very difficult to read.
The matter of the media file is more difficult. I'm afraid the simple answer is something you don't want to hear - give up on SquareSpace and go somewhere else. If you host your files on a normal webspace server - with only the caveat that it must support 'byte-range requests' which is mandatory, so you need to ask about this before committing yourself - you shouldn't have any trouble. Some of these weblog creation services can cause problems, though I don't know of any specific issue with SquareSpace.

The instagram icon on my iTunes says it has been downloaded but I can't seem to find it. Where do I find it?

    Hi Charlene1018,
You can locate any of your iTunes media including apps in Finder by following this article:
Where are my iTunes files located?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1391
Locating the file for an item you see in iTunes
If you're not sure where some of the content you see in iTunes is stored, iTunes will also show you what it knows about your media in the Get Info window.
Select an item in iTunes and choose File > Get Info.
You can right-click on the 'Where' to get the option to Show in Finder (Mac OS X) or Show in Windows Explorer (Windows).
    Cheers!

  • Podbean difficulty downloading episodes

I've got a podbean account that our podcast just started (trying to migrate over from podomatic).
Anyway, whenever I try to submit our podbean feed:
    http://shatteredcastuncut.podbean.com/feed/
I get either the error: "Difficulty downloading episodes" OR sometimes I get the "podcast cover art must be at least 1400 x 1400 pixel jpg or png..."
I made sure the file meets these requirements (2100 x 1500 pixels currently).
I have no idea what's going wrong.  I've looked at other responses and see mentioning of needing some kind of enclosure tag. From what I can see it's there.
I've tried making the file an m4a (preferred) I've switched it to an mp3, I've changed the way it's named..
Nothing seems to get me results.  What's going on here?

Your image is 2100 x 1500 px: though iTunes doesn't sp[ecify a mximum size there is anecdoatl evidence that it doesn't like large images. You should stick to 1400 x 1400 - there is no point in having a larger image anyway, it won't be displayed at that size.
There is a bit of a mystery with the feed. The feed at the URL you give has only two episodes. I checked the top one (episode 1) and the media file redirected to another URL but did play in a browser as it should.
However when subscribing in iTunes four episodes appear, the top one being episode 3.  There is no 'itunes:new-feed-url' tag in place and Terminal shows no 301 redirect, so I have no idea what is going on.
All episodes produce an 'internal server error' when attempting to download. However episode three did eventually download and play (after something of a delay) after some minutes. So something odd is going on at Podbean and you should take it up with them.

  • ITunes Says Having Difficulty Downloading Episodes From Your Feed

I'm trying to submit my podcast feed to iTunes, I am able to subscribe to my feed by going to File > Subscribe to Podcast > and pasting http://www.servextra.com/category/scrshow/feed/ in the field. iTunes then recognizes all of the episodes in my feed and I'm able to play them all with no problem.
When I try to submit this same exact feed to the iTunes Podcast Directory, I get the error message iTunes Says Having Difficulty Downloading Episodes From Your Feed. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong to cause this?

I don't know why you are having this problem. The URL of your top episode's media file is
    http://traffic.libsyn.com/toddliles/12_012_-_Easy_Budgeting_in_30_Minutes_-_10.1 7.2013.mp3
    This redirects to
    http://ec.libsyn.com/p/3/0/f/30f658d1205053c7/12_012_-_Easy_Budgeting_in_30_Minu tes_-_10.17.2013.mp3?d13a76d516d9dec20c3d276ce028ed5089ab1ce3dae902ea1d01c08530d 6cb5ec030&c_id=6289362
The Store can by flaky about redirects, and this one has the '?' which indicates a script of some sort is in use. However, Libsyn normally know what they are doing so I wouldn't have expected them to provide a URL which didn't work. Your best bet would be to approach their Support; or Robert Walch, who works for them, posts here sometimes and may see your question.
It is just possible that the Store is having one of its hissy fits and it may be an error at their end, but certainly Libsyn should be able to advise.

  • Trying to upload my podcast RSS to iTunes, but getting the "We had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed" error

Hello everyone. I know this is an often asked question, but I still can't get this to work.
Can you tell me why I'm getting the "We had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed" error when I submit
    http://davidccook.com/podcasts/praying-for-your-elephant.xml
    Thanks!

The Store checks only the latest episode of your feed when you submit your podcast. The media file URL for your latest episode, Day 21, is
    http://adamstadtmiller.com/wp-content/uploads/podcast/P4YE21DAY121.mp3
and there is no file at this address. This is because you've mistyped it: the actual URL is
    http://adamstadtmiller.com/wp-content/uploads/podcast/P4YE21DAY21.mp3

  • I am unable to submit my RSS feed into iTunes

Podcast RSS feed not being accepted by iTunes
I have registered my main podcast RSS feed in iTunes successfully. I want to migrate this RSS feed from feedburner to PowerPress, but I want to prototype it first before I move the real feed. To that end, I created another Blogger blog site and Feedburner rss feed that has the same settings as my main feed. The feed is using SmartCast to configure the RSS feed for iTunes compatibility. I cannot get the test feed to load into iTunes though. I get this error message:
Podcast cover art must be at least 1400x1400 pixel JPG or PNG, in RGB color space, and hosted on a server that allows HTTP head requests.
I had the artist give me a 1400x1400 pixel version of the logo in RGB color space (I’m not sure how to verify this).  Here is a link to the logo, if anyone can tell by looking at the picture or site what is wrong that needs to be fixed. http://s24.postimg.org/lvuuf7v91/ARP_logo_i_Tunes.jpg
I have read as many forum posts as I can to try and solve this issue and nothing has worked so far. Can someone tell me what is wrong with my image or RSS feed that is causing iTunes to reject the feed?
    Here is the RSS feed:

  • ITunes Submit Podcast - difficulty downloading episodes from feed

Was instructed to start a need thread after reading several of the others. This is the error I am receiving when submitting my podcast feed, "We had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed." I tried a couple of the solutions offered but I am still receiving the error. My podcast feed is generated by feedburner and you can use the itpc version of the URL and it subscribes instantly and has no problem downloading the latest episodes. But as far as making it available in the iTunes store I continue to receive the above error when I submit the feed.
Here is the feed address: http://feeds.feedburner.com/ak_house_majority?format=xml
Any help would be appreciated. And you know what, if itunes would just give ANY clue as to WHY it is having difficulties with one's feed when submitted, that also would be appreciated, instead of just leaving everyone in the dark to go figure out whatever the heck with no idea of what is causing the problem. But I digress. I figure I am close, but something simple I am missing must be causing the problem.

Your feed has a lot of episodes with .mp3 files, but it also has a large number of episodes without. In fact reading from the top of the feed it looks like around fifty, though I've not counted them. Furthermore your episode aren't in any logical order.
On subscribing the episodes with mp3 files show in descending date order. However the indications are that on submission the Store checks only the top episode, and if it can't find a playable media file it rejects the feed.
In any case it's not a good idea to mix episodes with and without playable media in this way, though the main problem where the creation process is limiting the number of episodes doesn't seem to apply here. iTunes will not display any episode which don't have playable media.
At the least you need to rearrange the feed so that you latest episode appears at the top.

Transfer all of your content to the computer:
Tunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
Then try turning the device off and on again. I'd leave it off for 10-15 minutes, but that is up to you:

If the item is still there, you may need to restore the device:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Hope that helps . Worst case scenario, you may need to write into iTunes support to see if they can also help!!

  • My feed should be correct, but iTunes has difficulties downloading episodes

I do have a proper podcast feed, adapted to iTunes specs, as far as i can tell. But still, it says "we had difficulties downloading episodes from your stream". Please advise, this is my first try to submit my podcast. The feed is here: http://niklascarlsson.se/?feed=podcast

Your feed works perfectly well when subscribed to manually in iTunes. However I think the problem lies with your filenames - the most recent one is:
    avsnitt-3-på-språngmarsch-mot-den-svarta-veckan.mp3
If you enter the full URL in a browser it will substitute the code %C3%A5 for each å, but apparently the iTunes Store is not capable of this and is choking on the diacriticals. You should rename your files to avoid these and use only plain letters, numbers, underscores or hyphens. (It doesn't matter what the filename is from the point of view of the user since it doesn't show.)

Itunes says it has available updates but when I click download updates, it says no available update.

This happened to me as well. I use an iMac as my main machine, but have a laptop that my daughter uses. I use my Apple ID on both computers. I would occasionally see on my iMac that I have updates available and would click update and get the No Update Available response, yet the red badge remains displaying that I have an update. Found that a few people had this happening as well via these forums so I checked on the laptop and it updated. I then noticed the red badge on the iMac had disappeared as well. If you have any other computers that share your Apple ID, I'd run update on those to see if it fixes your issue.

If the store in your country does allow it, try to download the song again, see this support article:

Otherwise report a problem with your purchase. Sign into the iTunes Store and view your purchase history  in your account section. Beside the recently bought song should be a link "Report a problem".
