Running reports in CMC or Infoview

Hi ,
I am trying to run few on-demand reports in CMC, but I get this error after I enter the parameter values
The database logon information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect.
This problem occured recently when I changed my Datasource location from one database to other. The New database has a
username and password. The Old database had a Windows Authentication.
The report runs fine when "Prompt the user for database logon" is checked under Database Configuration in CMC. but when I change it to
"Use same database logon as when report is run" , the above error is displayed.
These reports runs fine on my client desktop with the same user credentials.
Does anyone has an idea as why is this happening?
Thanks,

Yes these are Crystal reports.
I had verified Database. These reports works fine if the prompting for database login credentials was checked. but the problem is I don't want to prompt the user for database credentials. So If I check Use same database logon as when report is run, error is displayed
and I re-ran these reports with same credentials on my desktop it works absolutely fine.

  • Running reports in CMC is Slow (the first time)

when we first log into CMC - the report takes 10 minutes or more to run.
when you run it subsequent times - it takes less than 15 seconds...
what could be causing this unbearable delay the first time?
I've seen some people say that you should build a blank report that users can run first - that is not a solution....
Has anyone had a similar experience?

Check the same query on DB, notice how much it takes to run.
What might be happening here is, first time when it ran, that may be normal time it takes to run the report. After that, WEBI processing server (assuming you are running WEBI report) keep it in cache, so next time when it runs for the same data, it takes it from the cache, instead of querying the DB again. That is the reason, you see the results quickly.

  • Error: Failed to open the connection when opening Crystal Report in CMC or

    Hello all,
I am getting theError: Failed to open the connection when opening Crystal Report in CMC or Infoview
with access database as the datasource which is in the network drive.

    Hi Sonali,
This is because Crystal Reports does not recognize database connection from share drive
    1. Save the database locally on server machine
    2. Create a new database on server and link the new database with the database on Network.
    Steps to link the database.
1.Create a new test database on server.
    2. Go to File --> Get External Data --> Link tables | Select the database on Network Drive.
    3. Select all the tables from the database.
    4. Save the Database  e.g. Test.mdb.
    5. Create an ODBC Connection on server machine, with the same name as on client machine using test.mdb database.
Note: Click on Advanced button, enter the default user id and password for the odbc connection, it is not mandatory to give Login Name and Password, only if the user id and password are given then we need to provide the same user id and password in the CMC database configuration.
    6. Create a report using this ODBC connection, and save the report to Enterprise.

  • Backend BW roles for users needed when running reports in infoview?

    Hello all,
We are using SAP BI Queries as the sources of our universes, the user is going to logon to infoview to run report in webi. We have created some access levels in CMC to restrict users, the question is - the user will still need some kind of backend BW roles to have access to the BI query that is developed in BW system right? That way the user can fetch data?
    Let me know
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
If you are using SAP Authentication and Single sign on option in universe connection, the users must have sufficient roles to access SAP BW database.
if not, the only user login which you create during connection creation having roles to access to BW database is enough. In this case, the user can login to Infoview using any user and can access the report if he has priveleges to the report.
    Hope this helps!

  • Error when running a report on CMC

Error in File Maintenance Costs by Work Code: Max processing time or Max records limit reached .
I can run this report through Crystal Reports 9 installed on my desktop and do not have any problems having data returned.  However, when I upload it to the console and try to run it through CMC I get the above error.
    Any suggestions?

Thank you for your help.  I had to make a change in the CR Processing Server so your answer put me in the right direction.
We are using CR Server 2008.
I had to set the value at 0 for Database Records Read When Previewing or Refreshing (0 for unlimited):
    Thank you again!

Which is the version of your Sybase server?
Which is the version of your Sybase ODBC driver?
Do you use directly the ODBC drivers or do you use a universe that connects over an ODBC driver?

    Matt,
A namesake of yours is my client for this issue.
Coming to the problem, the customer says there is proxy configured between HTTP server and WebSphere. This proxy server times out for long running reports. If the HTTPServer is bypassed, things work fine.
A colleague of mine opened a case with BOBJ. I can get you the case# if you need it. We got this reply:
    From: Takano, Hitomi
    Sent: Tuesday, November 04, 2008 10:26 AM
    Hi Matt,
I was away for the last two days, so I couldn't reply to you sooner.
Extending the timeout setting from Webi and Infoview in BOXI R2 will not
make the long running reports work as your proxy setting at the lower
layer than BOXI just allows 5 minutes and after that the connection will
be cancelled by the proxy. I'm not sure why this setting was effective
for https only or timeout out after 2 min. This is out of scope of BOXI
R2 and your network admin would be the best person to handle. You were
getting 502 error in Java Report Panel. I googled with "502 error and
ProxyTimeout", and I got the some articles returned which say  when
backend doesn't answer on requests(because it timed out), it returns to
    a client an error 502.
I'll close this thread as the n/w admin at the client are working things out.
    Thanks for your support.

Your request could not be completed because a failure occurred while the report was being processed. Please contact business administrator.[RCIRAS0546] (Error: INF)

    DLN

Are you migrated from earlier version to 3.1.
    YES,
    here you go,
Have a back door way to fix the problem...
We were having the same issue with DeskI documents while upgrading from XIR2 to XIR3.
It's tied to documents that are set to Refresh on open
If you import the report, set it to "not" refresh then publish it, test it and it should run fine. Once you get it working correctly you can republish the report again and turn the "Refresh on Open" back on.
It should work fine from that point on.
    Thank You!!

  • Can't access CMC and infoview on BO edge series 3.1

    Hello gurus,
I have just installed BO edge series 3.1, immediate moment after installation, I can open CMC console, but after I 've done other operation on the computor, CMC can't open now, also I can't open infoview, error shows " can't establish connection to server", but other features work well. how can I resolve this issue?
    Many thanks,

    Hi,
      I will clarify following facts:
    (1) I used "typical installation " for Edge3.1
    (2)  all are installed on windows XP
    (3) I have restarted computor several time, CMC and infoview can't be launched either.
    (4) other features work very well.
    (5) after I installed Edge 3.1, CMC and infoview were reached for one time, after that, I installed crystal report 2008, this report designer can't be started, so unstalled it. then try to access CMC and infovew, it failed.
    Many thanks,

  • Crystal report server2008 (XI R2): InfoView Request timeout error

    HI
Crystal report server2008 (XI R2): InfoView Request timeout error
Some reports which are taking more than 10 to 15 minutess while running through InfoView gives error as follows:
An error has occured: Request timed out.
This error appears within the crystal  report server and when user tries to access through browser client desktop also. Sometimes it  prompts the error as follows when users try to access through browsers from there desk i.e through proxy connection.
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy serer could not handle the request POST/report/CrystalReports/Viewrpt.aspx.
Reason: Error reading from remote server
The timeout setting of all web.config files under infoviewapp, infoviewappactions, platform services, crystal reports folders have been checked and the default timeout 20 minutes is changed to 30 minutes and IIS is restarted, but still users are getting request timeout error within 10 to 15 minutes while running a crystal report. Even admin user.

Please post your query to the [Business Objects Enterprise Administration|BI Platform; forum. This forum is dedicated to development and deployment of .Net applications that connect and interact with BusinessObjects Enterprise, BusinessObjects Edge, or Crystal Reports Server. This includes the development of applications using the BusinessObjects Enterprise, Report Application Server, Report Engine, and Web Services SDKs.
BTW., if thi is an important issue, I'd recommend creating a phone case.

For instructions on deploying web application (.war) files manually, consult the Web Application Deployment Guide for Windows, available at http://help.sap.com/businessobjects.
Since BOXI3.1 SP7 uses Tomcat7 for Java web application server, you’d need to use wdeploy to redeploy the BOXI3.1 SP7 war files.
    Of, you can
    stop tomcat7 in CCM
delete or move the existing BOXI3.1 web apps from E:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat7\webapps to somewhere else,
delete or move the existing BOXI3.1 web work files from E:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat7\work\Catalina\localhost to somewhere else
    drop all war files from E:\Program Files\Business Objects\deployment\workdir\tomcat7\application to E:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat7\webapps
start up tomcat7 in CCM and monitoring the E:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat7\logs\stderr.log for success/fail deployment.
Note that please consult with SAP BO support to make sure this method work for you.  I learned this from a BO support during the support session.

  • Invalid Timestamp for scheduling instance in CMC and InfoView (BOXIR2)

    Dear all,
I have one issues which was regarding the scheduling timestamp for webi instance. My environment was using LINUX OS and BOXIR2 SP2. In InfoView & CMC, i was setted my preference time zone to Hong Kong time. However, instance timestamp for webi report instance in InfoView was showing the correct timestamp which following the LINUX server local date and time. However, when preview it in CMC it will shows -8 hours different.
I was trying to change the preference time zone in both CMC and InfoView to "Local to the web server". however both of the report schedule instance was showing -8 hours different with LINUX server time.
When i preview the webi report's objects properties in CMC, it have a "UTC" which located under the object created date time. For eg:
    Locale: English (United States)
    Created: Wed Dec 03 11:33:29 UTC 2008
    Created by: Administrator
Last Modified: Tue Dec 15 02:05:22 UTC 2009
This issues does not exist in Crystal Report scheduler instance.
Appreciated if anyone faced this issues before can provide some solution.
    Thank You.
    Regards,
    CK
