We want to see the sample SD report at queerry design.we mean that. We want to check out sd reports querry designer to see how it is creating?

Hi,
Designing SD queries or any queries depends on client requirement (refer report template) and you design query on top of IC/DSO/Multiprovider mostly with effective performance.
Use following Bex Functions and design query. understand each function properly and use them to improve query performance.
- Generate index.
- Build query on multiprovider and better use Constant Selection Function to bring infoset functionality to Multiprovider.
- Make your query more dynamic using variables.
- Do partitioning on IC when you have restriction on 0CALMONTH.
- Use more free charecterstics.
- Use include than exclude at Bex level.
- Utilize Cache mode and Read mode functions.

Plz let me know the detail view......first its all based on the design of the database, universe and the report.
at the universe Level, you have to check your Contexts very well to get the optimal performance of the universe and also your joins, keep your joins with key fields, will give you the best performance.
at the report level, try to make the reports dynamic as much as you can, (Parameters) and so on.
and when you create a paremeter try to get it match with the key fields in the database.

ou don't need a list of variables to use them. Simply go to View -> System Information so whenever you hover around a field with the cursor, in the left bottom corner of the screen you will see the details of that screen along with the variable number if it is a variable.
So you will see something like:
[Form=139 Item=29 Pane=0 Variable=91]
-> in this case the variable number is 91 - use it in Print Layout Designer.
So you can just use the variable specified in these details. When creating the print layout, just go back to your form, stand on a field with your mouse and you will see what variable to use.

I am creating a PDF report using FO-Designer.
My Query is this:
select * from tbl_employees where empno=:P2_Search;
My problem is I want to use an APEX Item(Number Field which is the :P2_Search ) to filter my report then download the XML and XSD file to FO Designer. Then I will create a layout and generate an .FO file to be uploaded in APEX.
I have a row here:
empno empname Dept
4 John Sales
My query return a correct row when I execute it in SQL Command. But it the source query, the result is no data found.
When I type 4 in the number field in APEX then click the print in which I already uploaded the .fo file, it returns only the constant field in the report.
I guess my query did not reflect on the layout.
Can anyone please give me an idea how to do this.

I think this is something to do with the bex web 0ANALYSIS* objects not being installed in your BW system.
I would try and do the following:
- Goto RSA1 > BI Content > BEx Web Template (BTMP)
- Then double-click on Select Object.
- Highlight all objects that start with 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN
- Click on Transfer Selections, and then Install.
If you can't do the above in prd, do it in DEV, then transport the objects to prd.
After all this, try re-running your queries.

I am trying to run the "Sample Test Report.vi" example in a totally unmodified version. I receive the message
"Unknown System Error in Font Style.vi->Set Report Font.vi->Sample Test Report.vi"

"secDesc" is the security descriptor, which contains the following information for an item in the report server database:
The group or user that has some type of permission to perform operations on the item.
The item's type.
A discretionary access control list controlling access to the item.
AceStruct is an access control entry for a trustee (user, group, or computer) that specifies the operations that a trustee can perform on items in the report server database. You can get a instance of AceStruct by de-serializing “secDesc”
In addition, when you tried to debug the program, did you follow the steps below.
Start Visual Studio .NET and open CustomSecurity.sln on your test report server.
Open Internet Explorer and navigate to Report Manager while leaving the sample code open in Visual Studio.
Switch to Visual Studio and set some break points in the custom security extension project code.
With the extension project still the active window, from the Debug menu, click Process.The Processes dialog opens.
From the list of processes, select the Aspnet_wp.exe process (or W3wp.exe, if your application is deployed on IIS 6.0), and click Attach.
In the Attach to Process dialog, select the Common Language Runtime program type, and then click OK. For improved debugging performance, make sure that Native is not a selected program type.
When the sample runs, a logon form appears. Type the user credentials into the logon form and click the Logon button. Whenever your break points are encountered during processing, the debugger should stop execution that point.
Step through your code using the F11 key.
