SAP Automatic Workstation Update user rights ?
Hi,
Does the workstation user need local admin rights to run SAP Automatic Workstation Update service ?
thanks
Vilius
Dear Villus
the "AWUS" user is the SYSTEM user.
The "AWUS" run as a service in the background.

Permissions for SAP Automatic Workstation Update
Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knows whether it is mandatory to have your Netweaver Installation server host configured with the following:
u201CAccounts: Guest account statusu201D u2013 Enabled
u201CNetwork Access: Let Everyone permissions apply to anonymous usersu201D - Enabled.
I know this is listed in the Installation Guide, but is it suggested or mandatory? We have a few Installation Servers running at remote sites on hosts that act as domain controllers, and these settings go against our domain security policies. Is it possible for frontend clients to still poll these servers and receive updates if these settings are DISABLED? Or will they have to poll servers that have the settings enabled?
All of our domain users are authenticating with accounts that have local administrative rights. No one is a guest, so would this mean that the guest authentication is a non-issue?
Thanks! You do not need these settings enabled as long as your end users have local administrative rights.

Patch for Automatic Workstation Update ?
Hi,
Recently I decided to update all my sap installation server components including SAP Automatic Workstation Update.
The problem is - I can't find any patches for AWUS.
So I'm looking bad or there are no patches for AWUS ?
thanks
ViliusULA_RANDY,
We did the same thing ... had auto update service disabled on the server and front ends and needed to re-activiate it.
To "Turn it Back On" for your front end clients is easy.
1) Turn Automatic Updates back ON on your server. Change check in time and reboot switch to whatever you need.
2) Run the following command on your front ends:
[yourInstserver]\[share]\setup\nwsapsetup.exe /update /product=SAPWUS /NoDlg
If it runs correctly you will find additional files in the front end folder ...\Program Files\sap\sapsetup\setup\updater
You also will find WkstaUpdater.cfg (same location) to have changed entry of DISABLED =FALSE
There are many ways to run the command ... Copy/paste to Start, Run, CMD file, Logon Script, AD Startup Script, ... we have a vb script that we push to the clients via Microsoft SCCM. This assumes you have LSH configured so that end user does not have to have local admin rights.
Make sure your installation server is patched with the latest SAP SETUP 9.0 patch. And watch out ... it's confusing there are TWO downloads presented for SAP SETUP 9.0. The smaller one is setup only, the larger is a combined setup and AWUS patch. You need the larger one. See note 1587566
Also ... then once you have all your clients participating in Auto Update ... wait a few days, and then you can patch your server with the main 7.20 patch. Don't dump too much on the front end clients at once
Good luck!

SAPGui Automatic Workstation update service
Hi All:
We deployed SAPGui 720 to end users with installation server. After deployment we disabled automatic workstation update from installation server. SAP released new patch 1 for SAPGui 720 recently. We upgraded our deployment server with patch 1 and enabled automatic update but users are not getting updates.
SAP Document says once you disable automatic workstation update, it can not be undone. you need to reinstall service.
Is their any other way to enable it and get automatic update? We tried another option with double click on desktop icon 5 times to check update but it is not working.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Miral.ULA_RANDY,

Update SAP System with other User ID (Not WF-BATCH)
Hello Experts,
Please read the below requirement and suggest me the solution:
I am implementing separation workflow for my client. Once the manager clicks on submit in MSS Portal, notification number (PCR) will be generated. User WF-BATCH starts the workflow and updates the Infotypes in SAP System. As per normal process, all the Infotypes are updated By (Changed by) user WF-BATCH in background.
As per my client requirement, the records should be updated by user BATCHUSER instead of WF-BATCH. Is it possible? How to meet this requirement? Please let me know. Thanks.
- Krishna.Hi,
If the Infotype update via workflow, it will show WF-BATCH only. This you can't change, previously your client would have updated the Infotype via scheduling the background program through the User id BATCHUSER.
If the WF-BATCH update the right data, then there is No issue .

Group Policy - User Rights Assignments not taking effect on workstation`
Novell 5.1 SP7. ZenWorks 3.2 sp3. Windows XP Pro workstations.
In Group Policy, (Computer Configuration/Windows Settings/Security
Settings/Local Policies/User Rights Assignment), I have added Power Users to
the "Load and Unload device drivers" policy. However this setting is not
taking effect on my Windows XP workstations. My DLU policy for users is
configured to have the users members of the "Users" and "Power Users" groups
on the local PC.
Other parts of Group Policy (Computer Policy/Administrative Templates) are
taking effect on the workstation, so I'm wondering if the problem I am
having is related to Security Settings only.
I enabled Group Policy logging on the Windows XP workstation and include it

Does Sap automatically updates customer credit limit from Financial Doc?
Hi Everyone
Does the Sap automatically updates the customer credit limit from the Financial document(Letter of credit) assigned to particular sales order.
I actually want to know that how can i configure the control at delivery order if i assigned the financial document at sales order.Does the system automatically creates or updates the credit limit of that customer to control over delivery order.
If yes then how and i only want to handle credit management in the case financial document(letter of credit).
Regards;Vijay KumarHi,
Hi,
yes it does.
Note some important points
Inautomatic credit control field "No Check field", you can enter the number of a requirement with which you can control when credit checks are not carried out. You can deactivate some or all checks. This allows fine tuning on an individual basis for defining credit-relevant transactions and when credit checks do not need to be carried out.
A check should be made to see whether the payment guarantee form has changed (letter of credit, payment card). If the payment guarantee form has not changed and if the old net value does not exceed the new net value, then no credit check is carried out.

Automatic Adobe Update for users without admin privileges
Hi there,
I have a PC with Windows 7 Professional (32bits) and Adobe Reader (9.4.6)
I have selected "Automatically install updates" in Preferences --> Updater:
The problem is: when a normal user (without admin privileges) is using the system, it turns up an Adobe Box which asks the user to install the Update:
But when the user tries to update, it asks to insert the admin password.
How can I solve this? I would like Adobe Reader updates to be downloaded and automatically installed for users in my PC without admin privileges. Is this possible?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
PabloAnyone have any further insight into this? Is there a way to simply give the user admin creds but only for Adobe Reader that would permit users to do thier own updates?
I don't want to have to constantly update the MSI I am deploying with GP/LUP if possible.
I am, however simply looking to update 11.0.0 to 11.0.1 ,11.0.2....etc without having to touch GP/LUP/each end user machine -
Automatically added User rights to LDAP imported Users
Hi folks
I'm working on a fresh install of CUCM 10.5.2 with local and LDAP End Users.
Now I like to add at least End User Rights automatically to the newly imported LDAP Users.
Even if I add an new local user, I like that they have "Standard CCM End User Rights" added per default, if it's possible.
Every help is more than welcome. Thank you very much.
Kind regards
P.BlumenthalNavigate to System -> LDAP -> LDAP Directory and then select your LDAP syncronization agreement. A little more than halfway down the page there is a "Group Information" section where you can assign the "default rights" given to each LDAP user that gets imported.
Thanks,

Reader will not automatically install updates on Windows 7
I have looked through the forums and have not seen this exact symptom mentioned:
"Automatically install updates" does not seem to work correctly on Windows 7. The updates download and I see the "update is ready to install" bubble in the system tray repeatedly. However, the updates never seem to install. I've seen this on more than one Windows 7 machine (it works ok on XP). I suppose this could be something particular to our environment, but I'm at a bit of a loss as to where to look next. Leaving the system "idle" does not seem to help and the behavior does persist after a reboot.
(I'm running Process Monitor right now and see AdobeARM.exe occasionally and successfully creating and exiting a thread, but not touching any files or registry entries.)
I enabled this setting via the registry -
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Adobe ARM\1.0\ARM]
"iCheck"=dword:00000003
- and can see in the GUI that it has taken effect.
I do see some files in this directory - does this look correct?

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks - AndySome additional information. I'm seeing "GetLastError(): 0x2 - The system cannot find the file specified" in c:\users\(me)\appdata\local\temp\AdobeARM.log. But even using Process Monitor, it's not clear to me which file cannot be found.
Still seems to me that updater is downloading the update but never trying to apply it. The most recent thing I have tried is to quit AdobeARM gracefully and restart it. That does seem to have reduced the number of subdirectories in C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Reader\9.3\ARM\ to only one (previously there had been one subdirectory per run).
Thanks for any suggestions -

Office 365 Pro Plus Security Update User Permissions - Sccm
I plan to deploy Office 365 Pro Plus using Sccm 2012. My configuration setup file has this line Updates Enabled="TRUE" UpdatePath="Share" . My users are not local administrators of their workstations. If I update the office
share with a patch, will my users have permissions to install the update? If not then how will my users get updated?
Steve BenderHi Steve,
Yes, with this confirguration, every Office 365 client will automatically check updates from the update location configured during setup - "Share", in your case.
You should make sure that it's a share (like an internal UNC or HTTP path) that every Office 365 client has permission to access.
Here's the references you'll need:

As you told is right, there was a problem in the password,
we changed that password and we have tested the DB connection in db59, this was ok. and we ran the command user_sap SAPLCA,<password>
this was ok.
After the registration has been succefully from LC10 ..

Some Systems Restarted Automatically after Updates Deployment with Restart Suppressed
I've searched the forum and multiple blogs - but, I'm still confused about what is causing some of our workstations to restart after applying a software updates deployment.
I deployed the Dec 2013 Patch Tuesday updates to a collection of workstations. The deployment was set to:
Not allow restarts outside of a maintenance window (box is unchecked)
Suppress restarts on workstations (box is checked).
There is no maintenance window defined for any of our workstations
On all the workstations, the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\...\WindowsUpdate\ values are:
WUServer: http address of our SCCM SUP server
WUStatusServer: http address of our SCCM SUP server
Also, the key in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\...\WindowsUPDATE\AU is:
UseWUServer: 1 (which I understand disables the use of the automatic Windows update service)
Some set of workstations automatically restarted shortly after 3:00 am the next morning. Clearly that's the Windows Update Agent jumping in a restarting the systems. However, I don't understand why it would do that. I really don't understand why it would
have occurred on only some of the workstations while others are still waiting for users to manually restart 36 hours later.
All of the workstations are in the same active directory OU - so the same set of GPOs applies to all.
Note: none of the registry keys were set directly in any GPOs - I assume the values were set by the SCCM client.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

I have setup the software update services on my Xserve and all of my clients are pointing to it and obtaining updates locally via the policy controls I am using (integrated with Active Directory). I have started a new policy of not giving local administrator rights on any of my Mac computers, so I need a way to set the updates to actually install automatically. I already have control of which updates my users get through the software update server, but I need them to install automatically as my users won't have admin rights to do so themselves. How can I set this up?
There is a great explanation of the options (along with their issues) here:

Hi,
I'm supporting a group of 15 Mac users that are going to upgrade to CS4.
The users don't have local administrator rights on their machines, so I created a script that runs the Adobe Updater as the administrator, every 2 weeks. This works fine, but it still requires the user to stop what they're doing, install the updates, etc.
Is there any way to automate/deploy updates to CS4, like automatic updates for Windows or Mac?
Thanks!Jeremy,
>Is there any way to automate/deploy updates to CS4
You may have to call Adobe tech support if no one chimes in here. But I, for one, would not automatically update ANY machine while there's a chance it is still being used for other work. In my opinion, that would increase the risk of a corrupted installation, particularly if the application being updated is still "live".
Although probably not your first choice, even scripted updates would be most safely done before or after hours or during lunch breaks.
