Hi,
Thanks Bk.could you explain me in details or say summarized manner what commitment is.And is the fund referred to as the money kept for the project or university purpose? And also can u let me know what this means..
Business area (often groups of funds)
Functional area
Fund
Funds center (often same as cost center, 1:1)what is 1:1?
Commitment item (exactly same as GL account)
Grant number
Funded program (same as WBS element)

Hi SapLearner,

  • SAP for HE&R - Implementation

    Hello Experts,
I am trying to install a new system for SAP Higher Education and Research. For this I have installed ERP 6.0 EHP7 system.
To make the system ready with HE&R solution does the ERP system only requires activation of business function related to Campus Management or any Support Packages has to be installed? Please suggest.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Megha Aggarwal

    Dear Megha;
With an Business Suite Ehp7 installation you are all up-to-date. There is no need to install specific SP's to activate SLcM. It is only a matter of activating the mandatory business function sets via trx SFW5. More information to be found here:

  • Search for objects assigned to "My Group" (Higher Duties)

When searching for Business transactions Assigned to "My Group", when the user is CP Holds (higher duty) the user can only see the transactions assigned to his position like Owner (Business Partner), but not the transactions for the higher duty.
We're using organization chart with integration with SAP ECC HR. In HR a Higher Duties is when an employee work for a period, in a position, which is not his or her own. This is a position with a higher classification and the employee receives a higher remuneration for this assignment. In CRM the IDOC synchronize correctly the employee in new position with the relationship "Higher Duty" in the organization chart.
However, for this new assignment in the organization chart, when the user search the document assigned to "My Group", the system only show the document for the normal position and not for the Higher duty position.

Answer from SAP: Higher duty is not supported by SAP in SAP CRM.
However is a valid infotype in SAP ECC

  • Highly Available WAS 6.40

    Hi,
I am looking at building EP6 SP4 when it arrives, on WAS 6.40 to provide a highly available solution for portals.
I'm sure I have seen somewhere on SMP that the tricky single point of failure in WAS are the message server and enque server in central services. I assume this to mean that in order to protect a stateful J2EE app (EP6) I dont need to be that concerned about failure of a central instance - other than the ENQ and MS services.
The EP6/NW04 dox talk a lot about protecting the ENQ and MS, but I have yet to (re)discover relevant configuration dox on how to actually implement a highly available ENQ and MS.
Could anyone point me in the right (Service Market Place?) direction?
    Thanks.

    Hi Stuart,
yes, you are right - the message and enqueue servers are SPOF in a Web AS cluster. Add the DB to that. So, the real HA cluster can be achieved using Switchover software (protects your cluster also against host machine failure, network adapter failure, etc.)
The docs you are looking for are located here: http://service.sap.com/ha -> Media Library -> Documentation -> HA Documentation and Switchover. In BC SAP High Availability 6.40 document under HA DOcumentation you can find general considerations about using switchover (how it works in general, how it protects your cluster, etc.)
Under Switchover you can find the SAP Web AS in Switchover Environments (6.30) document that discuss in more detail what you need to do to setup the HA cluster.
However, protecting the central services and the DB means that your cluster will stay operational and in sync. This does not provide state preservation of stateful applications. If you need to preserve any state for your J2EE applications, consider using failover. For more info, see those pages in the documentation:

  • Virtualization for SAP solutions

    Hi all,
as i recently wrote a blog about 'Virtualization and enterprise SOA' and as we will have many virtualization related activities in 2007 i think it's a good idea to start a thread in this forum for general discussion about virtualization and its utilization in SAP landscapes.
As many of you know SAP is offering application virtualization capabilities in SAP NetWeaver with Adaptive Computing. This was introduced in at SAPPHIRE 2004.
Meanwhile virtualization concepts, technologies and products cover a much broader part of an SAP landscape, starting at network virtualization and going up to desktop virtualization. I am sure storage virtualization with SAN or NAS is almost a standard IT scenario, but some of the newer virtualization technologies are in their early stages first.
How are you using virtualization technologies today, and which concepts/products/... do you consider to be most important for your environment ?
    Best regards
    Roland

    Hi Kwee,
my name is Nils and I am topic owner of the virtualization topic within SAP Consulting. You ask:
    1. How will SAP system maintenance and administration be affected now that we have tools in VM that can hanlde copying, backup and recovery?
Generally spoken, SAP should react on this when it comes to cloning instances. Change of an SID still is not supported, so I would expect the SAP Virtualization Lab to provide a solution for this demand asap.
In the VMware context, our Consulting team developped an approach that lets you run SAPINST in a silent mode so that no user interaction is needed any more for installing application servers, central instances and so on. You create a master template for sapinst, and this template can then be modified script-based to deploy your dialog instances in background. Siemens implemented our solution as well as MAN Diesel in Kopenhagen
If you have customers who deal with this topic, ask them to order me for an implementation. Backup and recovery should still be performed on database or storage level (Netapp). If you ask the question more precisely, I will give you a more detailed answer.
    2. What about SAP high availability and disaster recovery scenarios? How useful is clustering now that we have tools in VM that can offer an alternative solution?
Clustering still remains one of the operational keys. VMWare can never fully replace a Cluster although the fancy VMWare slides would like to make us thinking so. When it comes to disaster recovery, VMWare HA is a very fancy solution. But not every customer has the infrastructure and the money to implement VMWare HA. Also from a performance point of view, Clustering still stays a valid approach. Or did you ever try a HA-setup for a 8 TB solution with VMWare? A valid alternative for Clustering can be Adaptive Computing which gives you an enhanced availability (no high availability) bit downtimes of customer sometimes allow this and it is more stable than most cluster solutions around. You should also keep your eyes on Windows Server 2008! I spoke to Microsoft this week, and they put live-migration of virtual machines on their hot topic list again (after it was removed). Beginning of 2009, Windows Server will be able to migrate virtual machines in a live manner and also provide HA functionality for virtual machines. VMWare is still a little bit ahead of MS, but I saw the newest tools from MS, and this advantage is shrinking.
    3. How will hardware sizing be handled for SAP upgrades and rollout of new functions in a VM architecture?
From a sizing perspecive, calculate an overhead of 20% for your hardware to be on the safe side. Sizing is a task to be done by the customer together with the hardware vendor. He needs to tell the vendor that he wants to operate SAP in a virtualized environment. The hard limit for this is the IO based on your approach how to host the virtual systems (VMFS based with central FC storage or container- based). The hard limit is 6000 SAPs at the moment, for larger implementations, a lot of money has to be spent, technically, more then 18.000 SAPs are possible (but do not make sense).
    4. How can performance be optimized in a VM environment?
SAP-Performance? IO-Performance? There are some guidelines when it comes to the setup of virtual machines with SAP. You can find them here:
    http://www.vmware.com/partners/alliances/technology/sap-whitepapers.html
Best Practice Guidelines for SAP Solutions on VMware® Infrastructure
Is there a SAP training that specifically deals with such topics?
No, but if you can take care on an IO, I could come over and teach you and your collegues about those topics. I developped a workshop I present to customers (one-day) about all of those topics mentioned here.
    Best regards,
Nils, Technical Solution Architect, SAP Consulting

    Saludos,
    Alberto

  • SAP DCOM Connector

    Hello All,
Is it possible to use DCOM connector technique to make data available in MS Excel from SAP ECC6.0 without going to SAP GUI? I know it was possible in older versions, but I am not sure about ECC 6.0 as now Duet Add-on is introduced.
    Thanks and regards,
    Chishre

    Hi chishre,
You cans till use DCOM connector to upload data into the Excel with the higher versions. However, it is advisable to go with Duet since it has been integrated with SAP Higher versions and SAP made data download and upload easy for the SAP User through this functionality.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • Oracle Version - High Availability Installation

    Hi,
We are shortly to install SAP on Windows2008/Oracle.
The DEV and TEST systems are to be installed as stand alone Centralised installations.
The LIVE system is to be installed as a High Availability system, clustered over two hosts.
I have questions surrounding the Oracle Editions:
Looking at the differences between the two Oracle editions in respect to our requirements, Enterprise supports fail-over, whereas Standard does not.
    So,
Does an SAP high availability installation require Oracle Enterprise Edition to be installed or can it be Oracle Standard Edition?
Does SAP's High Availability installation functionality handle the complete failover, regardless of Oracle Version?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
    Chris

    > Does an SAP high availability installation require Oracle Enterprise Edition to be installed or can it be Oracle Standard Edition?
SAP systems (also for test and QA)  always require Oracle Enterprise edition. You may get it technically to work with the standard edition but it's not supported:
Note 105047 - Support for Oracle functions in the SAP environment
    <...>
          56. Standard Edition
        * SAP products always require the Oracle Enterprise edition, using Oracle Standard edition is not permitted.

  • Upgradation of SAP?

    Dear Forum,
We have heard of up gradation of SAP from 1 version to the other. Is it possible the other way round? If so, are there any workarounds for the same?
    Regards...

    Hi Donny,
Please undersatnd the purpose of upgrdation to SAP higher version. Generally systems are upgraded to enhance new funcationality to existing SAP instance and if SAP support has ended.
It seems you do not want to go for upgrading your system, any restrictions?? pls specify.

  • Channel Management u2013 High Tech Integration

    Hi All,
Right now we are working on Implementation for High Tech Channel Management. Can any one Help me How we integrate CRM with R3 for High Tech Scenarios.
As per I know when a Transmission message ( Tcode - CMS_TM ) comes in thru EDI, I need create a Delivery/Billing for credit memo request in R3 when it is released. I donu2019t know the Complete process.
My main Question is how we integrate this process with CRM to R3. Do we use CRM Middleware to do this? If so, what Replication Object we use for this in CRM. Currently I have found a Publication 'All CMS contracts (MESG)' with BDoc BUS_CMSCON_MSG will it support Channel Management High Tech scenario (Process which I mentioned above).
Kindly advise on this as I am new to High Tech Channel Management. It would be appreciated if you able to explain me the process of Resale & Claim Transmission and Price Bucket and its backend Integration Details.

  • Running SAP on Linux and HP-UX

    Hi
We are planning a new installation of ERP 6.0. The solution architect is advising to install the DB on HP-UX running oracle RAC, and to install the SAP application on a seperate server running LINUX. So the SAP kernel will live on a LINUX server and the DB will live on HP-UX server.
Does anybody know if there are any issues in doing this. Has anything been documented around performance etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sam

    Hi
This is an interesting question, personally i wouldn't  mix platforms if it isn't necessary, even if you can keep your SAP kernel on linux. So it would be interesting to know, why your solution architect is suggesting such an installation. Lets look at some questions, they might guide you to the critical points:
    - Besides the database are you going to implement SAP high availability? If yes, how?
    - How are you going to do your filesystem backups? Do you have a backup environment which covers both hp-ux and linux?
    - What is the reason to have SAP on linux and not simply have hp-ux instead?
I am convinced these questions are worth thinking about. So far i installed RAC within a homogenous linux environment with integrated enqueue replication. I also setup systems with database/ci on hp and linux application servers. But i did not mix that so far
Regarding performance: my experiences showed, that RAC is never faster than a single instance installation as long as you can buy a database server big enough, but with RAC you get high availability and you can scale on low cost hardware.
    Best regards, Michael

  • How to estimate the time needed for unicode conversion

    Experts:
I am going to perform an upgrade from 46C (non-unicode) to ECC6/EHP4.
In the action plan , it's hard to estimate the time needed for unicode conversion.
We do not have a sandbox to benchmark that time.
Could you please help share your experience here?
    Thanks!!

    Hi,
usually it is very hard to estimate a proper time.
There are some hints to get a rough feeling (SAP note 857081 and [SMP link|http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000380759&_OBJECT=011000358700001279022010E] ).
However please note that SAP highly recommends to do a Sandbox conversion - otherwise there is a high risk that the PRD conversion will take (much) longer than expected.
