SAP IMS

Hi All,
I've seen it mentioned a few times that SRM IMS is being replaced by another product, does anyone have any info on this?
IMS is still documented on SAP Help for SRM v7.0, however I am unable to find any other material that is latter than SRM v5.0.
Anyone any ideas?
Regards
Chris

Hi Jerry,
How's it going with you?
Thanks for the response, you don't happent o have any idea of timescales for this? i.e. is it likely to be in the next year or two or would it likely be longer than this?
Cheers
Chris

  • TRFC call

    Dear All,
I was trying to implement a tRFC call using the addition IN BACKGROUND TASK; as I understand that while making a tRFC call the RFC function, together with data is saved in the database of the AS ABAP with a unique TID & I thought that we can view the TID using the transaction SM58. But to add to my surprise I could see nothing, can you please elaborate the possible reasons for this?
Well I understand the following points already.
    1. A function call that contains the clause STARTING NEW TASK represents an aRFC call.
    2. A function call that contains the clause IN BACKGROUND TASK represents a tRFC call.
    3. If a function call only contains a DESTINATION clause but does not contain any clauses like STARTING NEW TASK or IN BACKGROUND TASK then it represents a sRFC call.
One more think if you could probably put light on is what is a bgRFC call?
    Many Thanks,
    Tanmoy

    Hello Tanmoy,
bgRFC does everything you could do with "Classic tRFC qRFC".
But it does it faaar better.
I highly recoomend bgRFC - bgRFC Programming - Connectivity - SAP Library
To summarize, here is the list of RFC options in ABAP:
    (1)    sRFC – synchronous RFC (DESTINATION….)
    (2)    aRFC – asynchronous RFC (with or without response) (STARTING NEW TASK… DESTINATION…)
    (3)    pRFC – asynchronous RFC over an RFC server group (with or without response) (STARTING NEW TASK… DESTINATION IN GROUP…).
    (4)    tRFC/qRFC – ‘store and execute later’ RFC – execution controlled by qRFC scheduler (IN BACKGROUND TASK….)
    (5)    bgRFC – ‘store and execute later’ RFC – execution controlled by bgRFC scheduler (IN BACKGROUND UNIT….)
    Thank you,

  • BGRFC advantages over trfc and qrfc

    Hi ,
Can anyone tell me what are the advantages of bgrfc over trfc and qrfc if i have to consider bgrfc.
    Thanks
    Akriti

    Hello Akriti,
bgRFC allows you to do everything that you could do with "Classic tRFC and qRFC".
But it does it faaar better.
It is far more scalable and has far better performance.
All these benefits are due to the way the bgRFC schedulers could be configured.
With "Classic tRFC and qRFC" - there is only one scheduler (one each for outbound and inbound) for the entire client. All the tRFC, qRFC entries for a given client are processed by only one scheduler and there is no way to increase the number of schedulers.
With bgRFC - you can have multiple schedulers in the system (in fact, multiple schedulers per application server is also possible).
The configurations could be controlled with SBGRFCCONF.
Remember though that simply increasing the number of schedulers does not increase the performance directly. I would suggest to keep the default settings there in SBGRFCCONF (by default, there will be one scheduler per application server in the system) and consider increasing the number only if this is not helping your performance.
    I highly recommend bgRFC.
    Thank you,

  • How to connect IMS database to BW 3.5

    Dear experts,
A client has asked us to extract data from IMS database to BW (version 3.5). It is the first time I've heard of IMS and I have no idea how should this connection be done.
I know there are the BC in BW which can extract from sql and other databases, but no idea how to extract from IMS. Neither I know the requirements in BW in order to be able to connect with IMS.....
Sorry, I've been reading posts, documentation and whatever I could find in the internet but sincerly, I haven't uderstood anything..... I've always worked in BI, but I haven't never needed to extract from other places different from SAP, SQL or flat file....
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks all!!!
    Best regards,
    Cecilia

    Hello Cecilia
I assume you want to use PI, as you have opened this thread in the PI forum.
I also assume that IMS is a database provider. Is this correct?
    1) obtain the DB drivers from the DB provider
    2) install the DB drivers (see note #1138877 PI 7.1 : How to Deploy External Drivers JDBC/JMS Adapters)
    3) configure the JDBC sender/receiver adapter. See the link:
Configuring the JDBC Adapter in the Integration Directory/PCK
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi71/helpdata/EN/22/b4d13b633f7748b4d34f3191529946/frameset.htm
    4) decide how you wish to connect to the BW system. You can use a proxy or some of the XI adapters.
Your message flow would look like this:
IMS -> JDBC Sender -> XI -> Receiver Proxy -> BW
You will find blogs on SDN which discuss the actual configurations that are required for the JDBC adapter and for the proxy.

  • IMS-exception type "Other errors" is not getting triggered

    Hi experts,
I am trying out some scenarios in IMS. I want to check exception type- "Other Errors" which is a most generic exception type. I have tried many options like- removed country from partner id address, tried posting invoice after removing account assignment category but for all these invoice triggers exception- duplicate invoice which i am unable to understand. can anybody please tell me what are the settings required for exception type- other errors?
    2. I even tried exception type "missing goods receipt". Excption type is getting triggered but after creation of confirmation- the status of the exception is not getting changed to clarified. Instead it gives an error- User is locked please try after some time.
    Please help
    Regards
    Kapil

    Hi Friend,
Please read the possible exception types in IMS
Have you set these exception in Settings for Invoice Monitor
    Purpose
In the Settings for Invoice Monitor application, you can make settings directly on the user interface for every exception that you wish to adjust.
    Digital signature
For each exception, you can define whether you want to use a digital signature.
If you use a digital signature, the field Digital Signature is active on the Adobe PDF form and the processor of the form has to sign it before sending it back.
The system then checks that the signature is valid.
If the signature is invalid, or the processor does not sign the form, an error message is written to the log and the e-mail is closed.
You can assign a digital signature to a vendor in two different ways.
    ·        The user assigns a partner certificate and sends it to the vendor.
    ·        The user uses the vendor’s signature certificate. This certificate has to be registered on the ADS server. For more information, see the SAP NetWeaver Configuration Guide Interactive Forms based on Adobe Software on the SAP Service Marketplace under service.sap.com/instguidesNW2004s.
Additionally, you can make settings for the following exceptions:
       Invoice duplicate
This exception is triggered if you try to post an invoice that has already been posted. The two invoices are compared using criteria that you have specified. In the settings, you can define whether a notification e-mail is automatically sent in the case of an invoice duplicate exception, and to whom this e-mail is sent. Furthermore, you can tailor the duplicate check to suit your requirements. The following criteria are available:
Consider special characters in the vendor invoice number
Check the number of items and purchase order number
Additionally, you can define that the invoice is automatically deleted as soon as the vendor confirms that a duplicate invoice exists.
    ¡        Fields for duplicate check
On this tab page, you can activate the fields that are relevant for the duplicate check. Furthermore, you can define a maximum variance for each field. In other words, you define whether the data in the fields should be an exact match, or whether small differences are acceptable.
¡        Exclude vendor values and or invoice values
On this tab page, you can exclude certain vendors and/or invoice values from the duplicate check. If, for example, you always receive invoices from one vendor for the same amount, you can enter this here so as to prevent unnecessary checks.
    ¡        Group vendors
On this tab page, you can group vendors that have several vendor numbers together in a data record to facilitate the duplicate check. Entries in this table cause an update in the TREX database which might lead to a short delay.
Regardless of your settings, the system performs a standard duplicate check (for vendor invoice numbers or vendor numbers that match exactly, for a +/- 7 day period) to ensure that these duplicates are found. If this standard check is not successful, a further check is performed using the settings that you made.
    ·        Missing external information
This exception is triggered if you try to post an invoice that contains incomplete or incorrect information. In the settings, you can define whether a notification e-mail is automatically sent in the case of an exception caused by missing external information, and to whom this e-mail is sent. Furthermore, you can define whether the e-mail contains a link to the SRM System, where the missing/incorrect information can be entered directly in an interactive form.
    ·        Missing internal information
This exception is triggered if you try to post an invoice that contains incomplete or incorrect information. In the settings, you can define whether a notification e-mail is automatically sent in the case of an exception caused by missing internal information, and to whom this e-mail is sent. Furthermore, you can define whether the e-mail contains a link to the SRM System, where the missing/incorrect information can be entered directly in an interactive form.
    ·        Missing goods receipt
If no digital signature is used, two additional fields are displayed in the PDF form. The processor has to enter his first and last name into these fields before he/she sends the e-mail back.
In the settings, you can define whether a notification e-mail is automatically sent in the case of an exception caused by a missing goods receipt, and to whom this e-mail is sent. You can define how long the invoice should remain with status 'Waiting for Preceding Documents' before it receives the status 'To be Corrected Manually’. Furthermore, you can define how many days pass before an e-mail is sent to the goods recipient. When the goods recipient then confirms that no goods delivery has taken place, an e-mail is automatically sent to the vendor. If the goods receipt has already taken place, you can either define that the goods recipient confirms this automatically in an interactive form, or that the goods recipient uses a link in the e-mail to confirm the goods receipt in the SRM system.
    ·        Incorrect reference
This exception is triggered if you try to post an invoice that refers to an incorrect reference. In the settings, you can define whether a notification e-mail is automatically sent in the case of an exception caused by an incorrect reference, and to whom this e-mail is sent. Furthermore, you can define whether the e-mail contains a link to the SRM System.
    ·        Approval overdue
This exception is triggered if an invoice remains in approval status for longer than allowed. You can define how long an invoice can remain in approval status before the exception is triggered.
    ·        Other errors
This exception is triggered if you try to post an invoice that contains errors. In the settings, you can define whether a notification e-mail is automatically sent in the case of an exception caused by other errors, and to whom this e-mail is sent. Furthermore, you can define whether the e-mail contains a link to the SRM System.
Note that the invoice is checked in accordance with the vendor tolerance limits in the case of the following exceptions: If these are exceeded, an error message is output.
    ·        Price variance
This exception is triggered if you try to post an invoice that contains price variance that exceeds the tolerance limit. In the settings, you can define whether a notification e-mail is automatically sent in the case of a price variance, and to whom this e-mail is sent. You can stipulate that the invoice is posted automatically if the price variance is approved on account of the e-mail. Furthermore, you can define whether the e-mail contains a link to the SRM System.
    ·        Quantity variance
This exception is triggered if you try to post an invoice that contains quantity variance that exceeds the tolerance limit. In the settings, you can define whether a notification e-mail is automatically sent in the case of a quantity variance, and to whom this e-mail is sent. You can stipulate that the invoice is posted automatically if the quantity variance is approved on account of the e-mail. Furthermore, you can define whether the e-mail contains a link to the SRM System.
    ·        Tax variance
This exception is triggered if you try to post an invoice that contains tax variance that exceeds the tolerance limit. In the settings, you can define whether a notification e-mail is automatically sent in the case of a tax variance, and to whom this e-mail is sent. You can stipulate that the invoice is posted automatically if the tax variance is approved on account of the e-mail. Furthermore, you can define whether the e-mail contains a link to the SRM system.
In Invoice monito system pls check the what setting is done for Duplicate  invoice, Missing GR and other invoice.
Based on these setting only system identifies what type of exception it is.
In other errors you should mention in Settings for Invoice Monitor  what are the fileds your consider for other exception.
    Hope this information will help.
    Thanks & Best regards

  • Feedback on EP SAP Note 1331353

    Hi,
I'd like to suggest feedback on sap note 1331353 - Session Release Agent - Pop-Up Blockers.  Many customers use SAP Portal for Employee Self-Service (benefit enrollment) and big issue I've seen across the board is that users must have there pop-up blockers disabled so that session release agent works correctly.
Typical scenario during enrollment user goes into SAP portal (with pop-up blocker enabled) and closes browser returning finding there PERNR is locked.
I suggest SAP provide solution where Session Release Agent works regardless if pop-up blocker enabled or not.
    Thanks,
    Gary

    Hi Gary,
    Thank you for your feedback.
Currently the behavior of the DSM is when the user is trying to close the
window or logging off from the portal is to open new window to close all the
    sessions in it.
This is because the window (in case of closing the window) or the session (in
case of log off) are about to be terminated.
Currently we are assessing what will be the best solution for terminating
the sessions without this popup but it is not easy since changing it require changing
the all architecture of the DSM which is a huge effort and above all a huge
    risk.
    Thanks for your feedback.

  • IMS : Exception - Change Invoice

    Hi,
We are in SRM5.0( SRM Server 5.5) (level 006). In IMS, while testing, we can select exception and after click system brings to display mode of invoice. Once we are selecting "change" button, system is creating another pop up screen similar like home screen instead of 'change mode of invoice'. It is not expected a home screen here.
But  if I change invoice separately for change mode and enter missing data, system is accepting and taking out that invoice from exception list.
    1. Is a POP up screen normal system behavior?
    2. Why change mode of invoice is not represented in pop up screen?
Business need : User need to click on exception type from list and click on 'change' , it should go for same invoice to change mode ( in same screen  or pop up). User need not to search separately for changing it.
What could be the solution for it? Is there any patch level or OSS note implementation needed?
    thanks in advance,

  • Creating JMS Headers for executing IMS Transactions

    Hi,
We have a requirement where we need to execute IMS Tran from PI. So we need to set the IMS Headers (MQIIH) on JMS Receiver channel. Also we need to set the some MQMD Header properties that JMS Receiver do not have like UserIdentifire, Format, etc.
I refered some of the documentation through which we were able to create the attributes in usr section. But that is not solving the purpose.
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Thanks
    Sandeep

    Hi Sandeep,
Do you have trouble with the IMS Headers or the MQMD? Can you post your configuration?
Here's a configuration I use for changing MQMD parameter in the receiver JMS channel:
In the advanced tab, additional parameters:
    JMSMessageClass                             com.ibm.jms.JMSMessage
    JMS.Message.method.setJMSCorrelationID     java.lang.String 1
You can refer to this help page from IBM to know witch method to call: (setJMSCorrelationID)
    http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv7/v7r0/index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.mq.javadoc.doc/WMQJMSClasses/com/ibm/jms/JMSObjectMessage.html
You can achieve the same thing with the DynamicConfiguraitonBean in the module tab but you do not need both. They do the same thing.
If you want to use the DynamicConfigurationBean:
    Module cfg:
    AF_Modules/DynamicConfigurationBean LocalEnterpriseBean dc
    Module params:
    dc.key0  insert http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/JMS DCJMSCorreleationID
    dc.value0 1
    reference: https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/docs/DOC-10784
Those two configurations will do the same thing, hardcode the CorrellationID of the message to 1.

  • SAP message Log

Does SAP maintain log of all the messages displayed on screen using MESSAGE statement?
We are investigating a problem and want to see the messages displayed by SAP during the time when problem occured.

We have custom development for picking and confirmation. Last week we found that in some deliveries there is difference in delivered quantity and packed quantity.
Custom development is calling sap-standard FMs. Problem occurs randomly, roughly 10 deliveries in a week has this problem.
We are still trying to investigate the reason that is causing the problem.
Custom program does display the message to user if FM raise any message. We asked user of they are getting any message while picking, and if they are ignoring it.
They just confirmed that they are getting message 'Packing Not Possible Since there is no Quantity to be Packed' and they did ignored this.

  • Manual de Integracao v300-2009-03-16 - SAP 4.7 SP30 preparado para NF-e?

    Boa tarde,

    - Usuários que utilizarão o Monitor Web do GRC.
    No aguardo, obrigado.
    Danilo

    Status do Documento: Aguardar resposta

    1 - No monitor, seleciona a NF-e
2 - Escolhe "Estorno antes da Autorização"
    3 - Na coluna ETAPA aparece a atividade "2"
4 - Escolho "Estornar documento de Origem"
    5 - Enviar NF-e as Autoridades Fiscais
    Atenciosamente,
    Diógenes
