  • Subcontracting Process with Serial Number

We activated BADI for MRO Process. As per the sap help the MRO Process will support subcontract serialized and NON -Serialized rework parts.
The Process is fine with NON -Serialized works.  But GR for the subcontract is getting error on using the same serial number .it is accepting if we assign different serial number. We want to assign the serial number to the subcontract purchase order item along with the material number and expect to be returned by the subcontractor with the same material and same serial number.
But we are getting the message like this Stock data of serial number 0988900 not suitable for movement. How to get rid of this error? 0988900 is the serial number assigned Original to the equipment.
    Thanks

  • Installation lock error while uploading meter readings in sap isu

    Hi,
    Following is the process followed:-
Execute EL35 transaction to generate MRO Print in SAP ISU.
at back end a process is triggered where Meter readings are fetched from a data server and uploaded in the sap isu using BAPI BAPI_MTRREADDOC_UPLOAD as a background process after a propogation delay of a minute after executing EL35.
If the el35 requesting is closed the meter readings get uploaded.
However if the transaction is kept open then we get an error that installation is locked.
Please advice if there is a way to dequeue this lock while trigerring the EL35 transaction in first place..

    Hi,
Message - 'Format of MR 17737 not valid (MR document number 105677 ) signifies that number of pre-decimal places and number of post decimal places do not match with your register group configuration.
Since, you are suggesting that your logic works in most of the cases, I think when meter overflow happens and while you are converting it to actual read - this reading do not match with pre-decimal and post decimal places.
You need to double click on register group for a device, where you are facing this issue and then compare your calculated read in your code.
    Hope this helps.

  • Config issue in SAP AMI for triggering XML

    Hi,
We have configured the AMI. Also setup the AMI enabled devices.
We have created Meter Reading Orders for the periodic meter reading as bulk .
But the creation of MROs does not trigger creation of XML messages.
We found the Enterprise Service responsible for meter reading order Request Smart Meter Meter Reading Document Creation as Bulk SmartMeterMeterReadingDocumentERPBulkCreateRequest_Out
But the XML messages are not getting generated on MRO creation. Also no XML message generated on AMI enabled device creation.
I could go into SXMB_MONI with date and time stamp to view the XML message,  not able to view the XML.
Is there any thing specific needs to be configured to have the XML message in SXMB_MONI
The process we are following is we are creating periodic meter reads and using the transaction ELMU/EL35 Customized to our needs to trigger the SmartMeterMeterReadingDocumentERPBulkCreateRequest_Out . Are we following the right approach.
Is it the right transcation code to trigger the Enterprise service and what are the parameters to be passed.
    Thanks,
    Vijay.
Edited by: vijay gunti on May 28, 2010 8:50 AM

    hello,
The meter reading process in SAP AMI for bulk order is different then single meter reading order. First step is create meter reading order by Transaction code EL09. It will not create enterprise service. The status of meter reading order will be suppressed when you view status by transaction EL31. After meter reading order creation, run transaction EL35 to download meter reading order. After running this transaction, it will create enterprise service and update meter reading order status to Meter reading request sent. At this stage, meter reading order will move to MDUS system.
Give me shout if you have any questions.
    Thanks

  • Warranty for Spare parts (MRO)

    Hello Experts
I would like to know how does warrantly for spare parts (MRO) works in SAP. I am new to it and keen to know what is needed to set up from Master data set up perspective and what benefit it gives in terms . How does the process works.
    Many Thanks
    Guarav

    Hi,
As far as my knowledge warranty is not for spare parts, it is for technical objects, like equipment.
To run warranty chech you have to define
    warranty types
    Warranty categories
    Define number ranges
    Warranty counters
Then you have to create master warranty records in t-code BGM1 after saving it will give warranty number
This warranty number you have to speciefy in equipment master

  • 3 way match of invoice in SAP for legacy PO

My client is using legacy system for purchasing direct materials.   SAP FI has been implemented.  Customer like to carryout indirect purchasing (consumables - text purchase & MRO items) directly in SAP and hence we are configuring minimum org structure.  When we suggested about 3 way match of invoices to customer for indirect purchases, customer expressed interest to carryout 3 way match for direct purchases as well in SAP.    Please note that direct materials are procured in legacy system.
Customer query :  Is it possible to carry out 3 way matching of invoices in SAP without material master & inventory management  for direct purchases happening in legacy system.  If so, please explain the solution and its pros and cons. Please share your experiences and lessons learned on similar requirement.. Also suggest alternate solutions..... Thanks for your time and help.

a three way match is matching quantity and price  from purchase order, goods receipt and invoice receipt .
If all  documents are done in SAP, then SAP will do this match when you enter the invoice
But if you procure in a external system and use only SAP-FI to post and pay invoices, then you cannot have a automatic 3way match. In that case the 3way match must be done manually by the accountant.

  • 'Log Book' in plant maintenance (SAP PM module)

    Dear Experts
I want to know about 'Log Book' in plant maintenance (SAP PM module). How to work on LOG BOOK & what are the configuration settings available in SAP PM for Log Book?
Basically, the concept of logbook is to update shift activities & measures during Plant Maintenance without SAP. but in SAP, What i know about the Log book in SAP PM is : It is an industry specific feature, before it was only used in (IS- Aeronautical). but now it is available in ECC 6.0 also. To activate this node, we need to update the patch 2.0 in ECC 6.0
    Thanx,
    PMGURU

    Dear,
The Logbook is an easy-to-use tool that supports the controlling and execution of daily maintenance tasks for assets in operation. This tool provides personnel, who are operating the assets, with the functions to log defects and operational data. It provides maintenance personnel, such as maintenance engineers and technicians, with functions that ensure the timely and reliable execution of their maintenance tasks.
Logbook is easy to use and provides functionality that is seamlessly integrated with follow-on processes of the mySAP for Aerospace & Defense solution for Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO). For example, operational data captured in the Logbook updates measurement points that, in turn, trigger preventive maintenance events. Maintenance work steps created in the Logbook generate material and resource requirements in materials and capacity planning. Material exchanges update the asset structure and automatically generate the required goods movements.
An important business example for using the Logbook is to control the daily line maintenance tasks for aircrafts.
The logbook helps you record defects encountered during aircraft flights and the actions taken to correct them. The log may also include the space to record additional flight data, such as the names of the crew members, flight parameters, payload data, fueling data, flight hours, and cycles operated.

  • Best SOP Model for MRO Type Industry?

    Hello all,
At the company I work for, we currently utilize SAP's SOP module for flexible planning of roughly 200,000+ MRO materials.  SAP comes standard with 18 or so forecast models out of the box that can be used to determine the best forecast of materials.  We are currently doing some analysis around what the best model is as a result of seeing our current forecast strategy, (Seasonal trend based on the Winters method,) working for us but doesn't pick up trends very well leading to a lot of forecast corrections.
Question to the group.  In an industry that has a lot of volitility of it's materials demand over periods, what model have you used to help pick up trends over short periods of time?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,
Are you using S&OP on HANA or SOP in ECC - PP. ?

  • Direct procurement and Indirect Procurement in SAP AFS

    Hi,
Can you diffrentiate between Direct procurement and Indirect Procurement in SAP AFS.
    thanks
    Aki

    Hi Aki,
    Direct Procurement
    Raw Material and Production Goods
    Order Qty: Large
Value: Industry specific (Like shirt in apparel industry)
Direct procurement supports the conversion of planned requirements to purchase orders.
    Primary Processes-Direct Procurement
    1. Determination of the materials and services required.
    2. Create requisition.
    3. Request for the quotation.
    4. Quotation Management.
    5. Vendor selection.
    6. Create Purchase Order.
    7. Goods Receipt and Invoice Receipt.
    8. Invoice Verification/ Vendor Payment.
    Indirect Procurement
Maintenance, Repair and Operating (MRO) Supplies
    Order Qty: Low
Value: Generic (Machine Spare Parts in any industry)
Indirect procurement supports the purchasing of indirect materials and subcontracting.
This process can be dealt with using standard functions such as material requirements planning, purchase requisition, stock transport order, transportation planning and the handling of internal deliveries.
The cross-plant, internal procurement of materials can be carried out within one company code (intercompany) or by using several company codes (cross company).
    Primary Processes-Indirect Procurement
    1. Requisitioning
    2. Purchase Order Management
    3. Receiving
    4. Financial Settlement
    Hope it helps.

<b>Best Practices in MRO Materials Inventory Management</b>
Materials for Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) are a major expense for asset-intensive manufacturers.  Effective MRO Materials Management is critical and it must achieve two opposing goals: to ensure that material is available in the right place and at the right time to reliably support operating plans, and to achieve the lowest possible cost for purchasing, handling and storing of all materials.
This report provides valuable guidance for individuals responsible for Stores Management by identifying the best practices being used by leading  manufacturers across several key areas: Material Receiving & Inspection, Material Disbursal & Returns, Replenishment & Disposal and Material Control & Audit.
<b>Best Practices in MRO Materials Master Data Management</b>
This survey is part of an overall ARC Research initiative to identify the best practices for management of MRO Materials.  MRO Materials are a major expense for asset-intensive organizations and poor management of this activity leads to higher costs and lower asset availability. This study is focused on the critical issue of MRO Materials Master Data Management.
<b>Best Practices in MRO Procurement Catalog Management</b>
This survey is part of an ARC Research project to identify the best practices being used by manufacturers in the management of On-Line Catalogs that are used for the procurement of MRO Materials.
Our specific focus is on catalogs that are in some way controlled by the manufacturing enterprise (i.e., not direct use of supplier websites).  Within this context, we are investigating practices related to the use of these catalogs for procurement of MRO Materials and the practices used to manage the catalog with respect to content and integration with suppliers and other organizational software applications.

  • SKUs and MRO items

    Hi,
Could anyone please birefly explain to me what is a SKUs and what is an MRO item ?
    Thanks

    hi
MRO stands for Maintenance, Repair and Operations.
This inclued material types as production resource and tools, operating supplies, maintenance assembly and spare parts.
In many organizations because of the number of devices or products that need to be maintained or the complexity of systems, there is a need to manage the information with software packages. This is particularly the case in aerospace (e.g. airline fleets), military installations, large plants (e.g. manufacturing, power generation, petrochemical) and ships.
These software tools help engineers and technicians in increasing the availability of systems and reducing costs and repair times as well as reducing material supply time and increasing material availability by improving supply chain communication.
As MRO involves working with an organization’s products, resources, suppliers and customers, MRO packages have to interface with many enterprise business software systems (PLM, ERP, SCM, CRM).
One of the functions of such software is the configuration of bills of materials or BOMs, taking the component parts list from engineering (eBOM) and manufacturing (mBOM) and updating it from “as delivered” through “as maintained” to “as used”.
Another function is project planning logistics, for example identifying the critical path on the list of tasks to be carried out (inspection, diagnosis, locate/order parts and service) to calculate turnaround times (TAT).
Other tasks that software can perform:
    Planning operations,
    Managing execution of events,
Management of assets (parts, tools and equipment inventories),
    Knowledge-base data on:
    Maintenance service history,
    Serial numbered parts,
Reliability data: MTBF (mean time between failures), MTTB, MTBR (mean time between removals),
Maintenance and repair documentation and best practices,
    Warranty/guarantee documents.
Many of these tasks are addressed in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
In SAP you can find information about the scenarios in SAP for Aerospace & Defense.
    SKU
Stock keeping unit (SKU) is an identification, usually alphanumeric, of a particular product that allows it to be tracked for inventory purposes. Typically, an SKU is associated with any purchasable item in a store or catalog. An SKU is not the same as a product model number from a manufacturer, although the model number could form all or part of the SKU. The SKU is established by the merchant.

  • SAP message Log

Does SAP maintain log of all the messages displayed on screen using MESSAGE statement?
We are investigating a problem and want to see the messages displayed by SAP during the time when problem occured.

We have custom development for picking and confirmation. Last week we found that in some deliveries there is difference in delivered quantity and packed quantity.
Custom development is calling sap-standard FMs. Problem occurs randomly, roughly 10 deliveries in a week has this problem.
We are still trying to investigate the reason that is causing the problem.
Custom program does display the message to user if FM raise any message. We asked user of they are getting any message while picking, and if they are ignoring it.
They just confirmed that they are getting message 'Packing Not Possible Since there is no Quantity to be Packed' and they did ignored this.
