SAP Solution Manager - Enterprise Support Report bw cubes

We are looking at the Infoproviders in Solution Manager BW and noticed the data for SAP Solution Manager - Enterprise Support Report.
When we look at these cubes, we are particularly interested in the Software Component Versions.
Unfortunately, all of these data cubes are empty.  Based on some discussions among our colleagues we are wondering if this data is only activated for customers that have the full Enterprise Support agreement in place with SAP?
If that is the case, then so be it (we don't have that level of support).  However, if that is not the case, can anyone suggest a way to populate these cubes.
thanks,
Jeff Henke

Hi,
Solution Manager is a separate component and needs to be installed separately (not possible to install on top of R/3 Enterprise).
You can order SAP Solution Manager Software from SAP or download from http://service.sap.com/swdc
Solution manager is free from SAP and no additional license involved for it's customer for normal use.
You can get more information on Solution manager from http://service.sap.com/solutionmanager
btw: as far as I know for R/3 Enterprise you can still download patches via http://service.sap.com/swdc  without solution manager, For Netweaver 7.0 systems, use of Solution Manager (Maintenance Optimizer) became mandatory.
Cheers !!
Satya.
PS: Pls reward points if the answer was helpful...Thx.

  • Solution Manager Enterprise Edition upgrade slow

    Hi
I am performing SOMAN 7.0 upgrade to Enterprise edition by upgrading kernel 701 and SP stack 18. I have already upgraded the kernel and java stack and now in the process of upgrading ABAP. I am expereincing really slow performance of this upgrade. I have checked tp and R3trans version which is uptodate as I updated kernel. I cant see any problem with CPU utilization as well swapping. I checked the SLOGs and there are no alerting errors. I see its moving and its very slow. I am just wondering if any of you guys experienced this - is this normal since this is a upgrade?

Thanks a lot, i realize the installation following the standard add-on installation procedure!

  • How To Create ESR (Enterprise Support Report) ?

    Hi All Experts and Consultants,
I'am a junior basis consultant @ my new company and Please read my problem and give me the solution.
I was commanded by my manager to create ESR (Enterprise Support Report). I still don't know to do this. Firstly, I have no problem with generating and download EWA report in Solman System. My senior  at my previous company told me that creating ESR can be done in Solman by using T-Code DSWP. But after looking deeply into Tcode DSWP, I didn't see how to make it as I wanted.
    My question is :
Is it true that creating ESR can be done on Solman System or do I have to create on another system?
How to do it? Kindly Please describe the steps..
I was told that EWA and ESR is different matter. I will be glad if you could help me.
Thank You and hopefully I didn't ask at wrong "room".

  • Questions on "FAQ - SAP Solution Manager for VARs"

    Hi,
I just got through the FAQ - SAP Solution Manager for VARs, but have some further questions:
For me it is not quite clear which connections are necessary for which VAR scenrio.. currently we have setup the service desk in our solman. Customer's aren't linked to the solman yet - we have saprouter-saprouter connections. Connecting them via SAP support backbone is an interesting option, especially for incident management. To get this working we should follow note 1124718 right?
But what about the other scenarios like maintenance optimizer and ewa monitoring? I guess for that we definitly need to build up RFC connections to each relevant customer system (~300+x)?! I think it will be hard to handle so many connections - just consider if a customer is cancalling the maintenance contract, everything needs to be removed again... best would be to have a central communication point...
For MOPZ we need up-to-date system information. So everyone is talking about SLD. Do you also recommend this option? There we need again a connection (direct to SolMan SLD or via external SLD on customer side).
According to the FAQ there is a workaround for ewa monitoring for customers with security doubts.. is this also working for non-ABAP components? We need SMD and WI for generating ewas for JAVA systems...
With regards to Enterprise Support contract: ewa only need to be monitored for productive systems? Can a customer be charged if they want to have ewas monitored for other sytems too? How long do we need to keep the ewas (1 month, 3 months, half year) before they are deleted? Are there any specific requirements?
All the work to get these scenarios working.. is this covered within the Enterprise Support contract? Can the customer be charged for work thats done by the VAR in their system (e.g. RFC connections, SDCCN, SLD,...)?
Sorry for this long text.. hope you have some helpful ideas!
    Regards,
    Richard

  • EWA for Business Objects (XI 3.1) within SAP Solution Manager

    Hello!
We use Business Objects (XI 3.1) and would like to get weekly a EWA report within our SAP Solution Manager.
Our SAP Solution Manger has only ABAP stack and it has the SPS version 25.
We also do not use Wily Introscope/Diagnostics and E2E tools within SAP Solution Manager.
    Question
Is it possible to set up EWA for Business Objects with our requirements (SOLMAN with ABAP stack and without E2E/Diagnostics tools)?

    Hello,
The short answer is no. You can verify this in SAP Note  1507629  - Preparing a BOE system for Service Sessions in Sol. Manager.
    "...1.) Managed System Setup
Perform the Managed System Setup for SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise as
described in the "End-to-End Root Cause Analysis System Landscape Setup
Guide". This guide can be found in the SAP Service Market Place:
    -> http://service.sap.com/diagnostics
-> Navigate to the "Media Library"
-> Open the document "SAP Solution Manager Landscape Setup Guide"
Please ensure that you perform all steps mentioned in the guide which
are relevant for your product and version. Please read also SAP note
1357901, which is also referred to in the above mentioned setup guide."
So this is a requirement. There are also pdf documetns attached to this note  that describe how to setup the EWA in Solution Manager. EGI_SBOP_EWA_part1.pdf and EGI_SBOP_EWA_part2.pdf.
The fact you have no Java stack and have not installed Diagnostics, just means it has not been done. It can be done and then you can do a managed system setup, and the balance of tasks required to prepare the system and Solution manager to generate EWA reports for the BOE system. Its just more work, not a show stopper.
    Regards,
    Paul

  • SAP Solution Manager Contractual Requirements

    Hi,
This has probably been asked and answered plenty of times before but I hope someone can guide me in the right direct.  I work for a company that who's basis folks decided that they were not going to implement or use Solution Manager.  I am under the understanding and have read that for customers to get support, they must implement Solution Manager.  That it is a "contractual requirement" that certain components be implemented.  Would anyone know what those components are?  Does anyone know of any SAP Notes that speaks to this?  I would like to change some minds around here.
    Please and Thank You!
    Joe

The requirement is (basically spoken), that, if you want to get Enterprise Support (for what you pay the 22 % annual maintenance) then you have to implement the Solution Manager Enterprise Edition.
What you will actually factually NEED to implement depends solely on your contract - that's why you can't find any public information.
If you have e. g. a SAP certified competence center (or COE) you have to ocnfigure and use certain functionality to gain points for your recertification.
I'd check the contract, it will tell you in detail what you will need to implement.
We also decided to not implement certain functionalities because the effort of implementing them and keeping them up-to-date is much more work (for our small basis troup) than what's the outcome, despite many nice powerpoints. We do only, what's necessary to fulfill our contract.
Generally spoken, you will need the SolMan to get the fixes and patches you pay your maintenance for. This does not even need to be done in a real configured and connected system in the Solution Manager but you will need to have it up and running to press on a button to confirm your download basket...

  • Solution Manager Enterprise Edition - Creating Service Desk

    Hi All...
Being a Channel Partner of SAP we have authority to sell sap licenses to our customers.
Now we want to setup a service desk for them in our Solution ManagerEE.
Could you please help me to understand....
1> I am not able to understand the extra functionality of SolMan EE with respect to Service Desk creation.
Do we really required EE for Service Desk? or with just normal SolMan we can setup that?
         2nd is...
2> I am not able to understand how do I can create system in SMSY, because possibility of having same SID for any of our customers.
I am not sure how do I can setup a Service Desk for each customers separately.
If any one of you guys have did same kinda config. before, please guide me....

    > 1> I am not able to understand the extra functionality of SolMan EE with respect to Service Desk creation.
    >      Do we really required EE for Service Desk? or with just normal SolMan we can setup that?
SolMan EE has some additional functionality but that is not related to the service desk. A "normal" solMan is enough.
    > 2> I am not able to understand how do I can create system in SMSY, because possibility of having same SID for any of our customers.
You can use SIDs like "SID_A" and "SID_B".
    >      I am not sure how do I can setup a Service Desk for each customers separately.
Follow the IMG - and note 1023598 - SAP Solution Manager Service Desk for service providers
    Additional info:
Out of my experience with the service desk: We are using it since SolMan 2.2 and if we could choose again we would definitely use a different product because
    - as soon as you drift away a little bit from the standard configuration, that you can use by default (but often needs adaption) it becomes really complex. Support desk is based on CRM so make sure that you have CRM knowledge (including PPF) in house if you want to do the configuration alone
    - after each service pack/support stack installation something is not working and almost each time we need help of the support (OSS/CSS) to get things fixed again
    - Bidirectional communication is not possible, you can send answers/inquiries to the message creator but answers are not "automatically" put back into the system (e. g. Mail parsing). That is the biggest drawback
    - The UI (if you use the GUI) is.. well... not really intuitive

  • Solution Manager Installation Error "SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 7.0 EHP 1"

I am new to SAP and currently trying to install SOLMAN 7.0 EHP 1 on Windows Server 2008 R2. I have read the documentation also. For JDK I have used "j2sdkfb-1_4_2_24-rev-b06-windows-amd64.exe" which looks to be working fine.
The installation process runs fine until it hits "Start Instance" the message on the bottom says "Starting instance xxx/DVEBMGSOO" (where xxx is my sid) and then its times out after 10 minute. After timing out I get the following error on the window.
An error occurred while processing option SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EhP1 > SAP Systems > Oracle > Central System > Central System( Last error reported by the step: ABAP processes of instance ORC/DVEBMGS00 ABAP: UNKNOWN did not start after 10:00 minutes. Giving up.). You can now:
Choose Retry to repeat the current step.
Choose Log Files to get more information about the error.
Stop the option and continue with it later.
Log files are written to C:\Program Files/sapinst_instdir/SOLMAN/SYSTEM/ORA/CENTRAL/AS.
Though the installation steps are not fully completed but I do see SAP management Console and when I open it I see two process running "msg_server.exe" & "igswd.exe" The process dispwork.EXE starts in the beginning and then stops and stays stopped. I tried restarting all the process again but only tow of them starts and the process "dispwork.EXE" starts but then stops again. I also did a NEW installation considering a file could have been corrupted or something else but the installation process stops and the same place. I am sure ppl have installed SOLMAN on windows 2008 R2 and this error seems common to me. Please assist. Any tips would be nice.
